The reasons are obvious my dear Toks2008.
My parent didn't get married in court ; Does that makes my mum singlehuh And to think my dad will wake one day and send her packing is imposibility that can never be possible cheesy grin

Besides, court marriage doesn't stop a crazy/unfaithful man from being crazy/unfaithful. It doesn't even stop them from impregnating another woman. 'At worst you will call for divorce'!

The important thing is marrying a good man your bone and flesh, even without any form of marriage, he will cherish and Love you!
And does all these change the necessity? definitely not.

You need to read more about statutory marriages. The point is that your rights are not trampled on and cogent reasons must be stated for any crazy action.

Many Nigerians only stop at filling for divorce but in developed world, any crazy act comes with its own penalty.

cool so dat means d marriage is legal then.. people who just do only court marriage stil divorce so...
lol!

Court wedding is not a license to live forever as man and wife,it only sanitizes the institution because of the madness some people display.

Will you still marry him knowing the following;
1. He can marry other wives with ease
2. He can kick you out at any opportunity he gets
3. You have no protection under the law in case he dies.

Pls men, instead of ruling out white wedding, you can do a small one if money is your consideration.

Matured advise.

What about protection of the man right what If it is the woman that wake up one day and say she doesn't like his face any more
Its more of a woman's protection but it also applies to men.
FamilyAny Married Lady Who Never Had This Is As Good As unmarried. by Toks2008(op):
It is no longer news that tradition is the opium of the people and no one is contending that.

But when it comes to marriage, while some believe that without paying of bride price, the man can not be said to be married to a lady and some believe that without the white wedding,a marriage can not be said to have received GOD's blessings.

Well i'm not here to discus on that aspect of marriage and i had to drop this quick one as a result of the mentioned i got on a thread relating to this.

I am not sorry to write this...

Any married lady who never had a legal wedding otherwise called Court or registry wedding is as good as single.Quote me anywhere in the world.

And this is very true for some reasons but i will mention a few.

1. He can not just wake up one day and say he does not like your face again and send you out of your matrimonial home.
2. He dares not marry another wife except he divorces you
3. He must have a valid reason for divorcing you and must be able to convince the court.
4. You have protection under the law for yourself and your child(ren) in case he dies

I can continue to list several other reasons but let me just stop here.If you like, say you trust your husband,he loves you,he can never treat you bad..O.Y.O lo wa.

If you like let the man spend 1billion on your traditional wedding and do a white, blue, green, indigo wedding with a trillion naira. The fact is that these two ceremonies combined with all the money spent is not as binding and constitutional as a simple court wedding with just 4 people in attendance.

Unfortunately we have seen many people getting away with bad acts despite the fact that they had a legal wedding but the reason is because the affected individual usually lets go without putting up a fight due to high cost of legal battle and no thanks to parents and family members who always preach to them that "what is yours will always stay with you" and that they should let go which i see as stories for the gods.

Ladies be wise..as an endangered specie in the cruel world of men, legal wedding was specifically created to protect more of the lady's marital right so take advantage of it or ignore at your own risk.

I will stop here.

In all honesty it is not really about fpage by fire by force but when you see a good stuff, you kn ow it is good and such should make front page but when you now see some funny threads on front page while better ones are relegated then there is a cause for concern but he knows better.

One fact is that the romance section is by far better than nairaland front page in terms of originality because most front page information are lagging but it is the interactive structure of nairaland that makes it interesting.

In as much as I'm not a relationship expert like oga Toks... Lemme air my own opinion

Nigeria ladies are brought with the mentality that when a lady is dating a guys that's financially crippled whether he's a PhD or Masters holder, they feel they are actually dating him out of pity, hence, they see it as suffering and endurance, and as a result of this, they keep ringing to his ears that they are suffering with him now oooo, and that he would be an ingrate if he marries another lady when God finally answers his prayers.

Some of them will even consult a native doctor or strip unclad raining curses on the guy when he fails to marry them.

Well, when I say my gf was there for me, it simply means she stood by me through thick and thin, she saw the best in me and helped in nursing my future

Lastly, it means she was loyal, committed and had no reason whatsoever to cheat on me

According to a Yoruba adage :"The presence of people in your life is worth more than any money".

Being lonely kills faster than being poor! cool
Oro sunuku @ the embolden letterings.

Nevertheless i believe the one who really deserves more respect is the one who makes physical contribution to his life and not the one who was a burden on him regardless.

Its so unfortunate that many ladies who claim they were there for a man fall into the second category which makes it so annoying.

I totally second this.
RomanceWhat does a lady mean when She Says "I Was There For Him" by Toks2008(op):
I have heard many ladies use these words and i really want some ladies to clear the air on this matter.

Its amazing that some ladies juxtapose staying with a struggling guy with doing him a favour and I tend to wonder why this is so. I believe that a lady should be with a man because she wants to regardless of whether he eventually hit it big In life.

I once dated a lady and each time i gave her what i can afford she will quickly say"im struggling with you now o and nobody is seeing it" and i try hard to remember if we went out together to hustle.

So the question is;when a lady says "i was there for him when he had nothing" please what exactly does she mean?

1..Does it mean she stood by him by actively contributing to his life by bringing him food or food stuffs,by giving him her money or helping him in one way or the other materially or monetarily?

or

2.Does she mean she remained his bae when he was struggling and suffered with him by drinking the little garri he managed to buy with the little stipends he gets or because she usually collects the little he gives to her from the very little money he fortunately makes from his hustle.

Please ladies i really need to know your definition of being there for a man in times of struggles

Over to you ladies.

RomanceWhat Goes Around Comes Around. by Toks2008(op):
in 1892 at Stanford University:

An 18-year-old student was struggling to pay his fees. He was an orphan, and not knowing where to turn for money, he came up with a bright idea.

He and a friend decided to host a musical concert on campus to raise money for their education.

They reached out to the great pianist Ignacy J Paderewski. His manager demanded a guaranteed fee of $2000 for the piano recital. A deal was struck and the boys began to work to make the concert a success.

The big day arrived. But unfortunately, they had not managed to sell enough tickets. The total collection was only $1600.

Disappointed, they went to Paderewski and explained their plight. They gave him the entire $1600, plus a cheque fr the balance $400.

They promised to honour the cheque at the soonest possible.

“No,” said Paderewski. “This is not acceptable.” He tore up the cheque, returned the $1600 and told the two boys: “Here’s the $1600. Please deduct whatever expenses you have incurred.Keep the money you need for your fees. And just give me whatever is left”.

The boys were surprised, and thanked him profusely. It was a small act of kindness. But it clearly marked out Paderewski as a great human being.

Why should he help two people he did not even know?

We all come across situations like these in our lives. And most of us only think “If I help them, what would happen to me?”

The truly great people think, “If I don’t help them, what will happen to them?” They don’t do it expecting something in return. They do it because they feel it’s the right thing to do.

Paderewski later went on to become the Prime Minister of Poland. He was a great leader, but unfortunately when the World War began, Poland
was ravaged. There were more than 1.5 million people starving in his country, and no money to feed them.

Paderewski did not know where to turn for help. He reached out to the US Food and Relief Administration for help. He heard there was a man called Herbert Hoover— who later went on to become the US President.

Hoover agreed to help and quickly shipped tons of food grains to feed the starving Polish people. A calamity was averted. Paderewski was
relieved. He decided to go across to meet Hoover and personally thank him.

When Paderewski began to thank Hoover for his noble gesture, Hoover quickly interjected and said,
“You shouldn’t be thanking me Mr Prime Minister. You may not remember this, but several years ago, you helped two young students go through college. I was one of them.”

The world is a wonderful place. What goes around comes around, please help others because you will sure earn the reward directly or indirectly.

Who is this sultry babe mentioning me?

Well i ont know what you are implying but in all honesty i have done my part in the online fx trading business.

I have designed a software that makes consistent average profit of 10 to 20% monthly and i even showed a real time trade activity for one full month.

The peoblem is that Most Nigerian online fx traders dont have money to trade and this is why my clients are basically from outside the country.

8 out of 10 fx trAders in Nigeria have less than 1k trading capital so how does 20% maKe sense to a trader with 500usd so my sweet lady,i don try.

I will never scam anyone in my life so when they call me to ask if they can make 50% or more,i just ask them to go play lotto...fx trading is not for anyone.

Btw you can add me on watsup on ...meeting new people and making friends is a hobby i love expecially meeting calm beauties like you.

Good morning and happy easther.

For men, this is easy 'cause by "exes" , I suppose you mean "people one was ROMANTICALLY involved with". On that note, friends-with-benefits don't count.

Some men have DATED less than FIVE females all their lives but they've had sex with more than FIFTY.

How about the females? Do the ALHAJIS , LECTURERS and CHIEFS who screwed them in school while they exchanged their bodies for favours count as "exes"? They didn't date these men, did they?

They more appropriate question would be, "WOULD YOU BE CONFORTABLE INVITING ALL THE PERSONS YOU'VE HAD SEX WITH TO A GATHERING?"
Yes i was actually referring to sexual affairs whether one night stand, sharp sharp or actual dating.
