BetaThings: This happened in India, but it is not newsworthy on Nairaland. Why?
Because the offenders are NOT muslims

American tourist gang-raped in India!
Is it possible that the highlighted part is why it wasn't emphasized in nairaland ?

bukatyne: You need this Nigerian bible seriously!

The book of marriage will answer in details all the questions you have. It will also clear all doubts and interestingly it has the life application pages where you will see the kind of food, underwear and outing to do when been cheated upon, abused, lied to etc.
Lol grin
Somebody somewhere is making money. But I give it to Nigeria, marriage works better in Nigeria than here. My dear marriage here na nonsense.

coogar: she's not staying for thr hubby, player....
her kids would take his place - the husband would become a 2nd class citizen in his own home. her focus would shift to her kids......as long as the kids have a father figure to coast them along, the woman cannot regret much and the hubby isn't beating her so no danger to her life!

how many single mothers in the eyes of the society, have dignity in nigeria? how many of them are happy? emotional and sensual needs are academic points, it's not like there's any man that would provide such after she leaves. you want her to be changing men like toothpaste with her kids in the house? what sort of example would she be setting for her children?
You have a point though undecided. I guess I've been away from home for long.

Single women full here grin

coogar: you know our society....
it's better to stay married in nigeria. there's a social stigma attached to single mothers...
And so she should remain unhappy for the rest of her miserable life? undecided
This is the 21st century for crying out loud. I'm a man, if I don't like a girl, nothing she does can change that. I may like her actions, wish her the best, but if I don't have good emotional connection with her nothing can change that. If she fights to keep me, it's a lost battle I'll even be more scared she may get frustrated and poison me so no one will have me I she doesn't have me

she should persevere !!!
it's not like there's a knight in a shiny armour out there for her. she's got kids - her focus should be on them instead of fleeing her nest!
What about her happiness?
What about her dignity?
What about her emotional and sensual needs?
What about HER?
Abi no be God create am?

Some untimely deaths are a loss, some are a waste, this ones na waste.

What a life to waste. If they live with their parents nd were prevented from this clubbing they woulda been complaining of lack of freedom. But they would be alive

onila: DONT LET HIM GO

Fight for your husband
Marriage is NOT by force. If she fights for him when he doesn't care about her what does it make of her?

She's human for crissake, have some esteem and more importantly if you like fight like Hercules, if he don't want you, he won't give a damn and then you look like some wretched desperado that no one wants.

angelhair: Strange enough I'm not really in pain. It's just a tiredness in my soul. Really I'm tired.
emotional pain is a strange phenomenom. a "tiredness in my soul" is worse than physical pain. dont take it lightly.

We were up till 3am discussing every thing. As I said, he is denying that he isn't in love with her but I know he is. It's not like we are unhappy. He was calling her and didn't think I would ever see the calls.
marriage can be difficult at times. for you to be up at 3.00am discussing a marriage problem, is a sign that things ain't smooth anymore. but its also a sign of how much you value your marriage

But I will take ur advice of taking a week off. Just me no kids. Let me see how he would cope. We have been separated when the whole cheating thing blew up and believe me he knows I would leave him if he ever cheats again.
it's okay. Honestly I will pray for you tonight ( e don tey wey I pray o grin ) I feel Hurt to see young people in a difficult marriage bc I've been there before. And even though I ended my marriage, it was a painful decision that still hurts.

But there's nothing worse than an unhappy marriage. . . .
Sadly sad

angelhair: I agree. I always believed he and I had that kind of relationship. You know he Denys loving her. He says he was calling her cos he just wanted to talk to her cos he felt he cldnt talk to me. He still has the connection with her which I feel should have ceased a long time ago. I called her yesterday and threatened her and she kept maintaining that she doesn't have anything to do with him again so I'm sure it's just from his side. I know we need counseling and resume our daily prayer. We need God now cos I'm getting weak.
You can pray and go for counselling but right now it's not a balanced problem. You are in pain bc your marriage is hurting, he is in pain bc his lover is getting married. Can you identify the difference? It's not balanced. You need to let him know he can loose you and the kids too. You need to give him some space for some time. Leave, go to somewhere else. Stop sleeping in same room with him. If you are in Nigeria you may want to take a leave from work, go to the village or to some other city or anywhere for a week or two. Take the kids too if possible. If he doesn't miss you guys during this period, he's not for you and I would then advice you to stop fasting and divert your prayers towards another goal.

Marriage is NOT by force. And when it seems not to be going fine, DON'T push it. Like the old dictum says, release a caged bird, if its for you it will fly and come back, if its not for you, it will fly away. If this dude values his ex-lover to the point of jeopardizing his marriage and the future of his kids, better end the marriage now while you are still young and capable of finding another man, than spend unnecessary calories on prayer and fasting and burn cash on counselling.

coogar: this is a myth!
there's no special woman anywhere....if both parties work together, love would grow. a man who's divorced 4 times would tell you he thought each of those women were special at first before things went belly-up.
It's no myth, there's a special woman for Everyman. You will never know until you meet the one. There's a girl somewhere that you are compatible with, could love and be trusted and vice versa. Just that most women and men miss that partner. It's myth. My fathers generation was the last to enjoy this privilege randomly. In my generation, it's just a few guys that get lucky with marriage and have relatively "easy" marriage. But it's no myth. I'm old enough to educate younger adults on this issue.

Even Hitler had that one and just before suicide he granted her her greatest wish.

DailyNews: Lastly, don't think there is a better man out there cos 80 to 90% of married men in Nigeria cheat, the innocent ones are those that aren't yet caught. So don't feel Tina's husband is the best or more responsiblie, and don't go thinking- if I had married James, this wouldn't have happened cos like I said, it is sad though, and a bitter truth, majority of married men .
I was married for 4yrs, I NEVER cheated on my wife. (And i was a guy that had many female "well wishers" as a bachelor) The marriage ended for other sad reasons. Cheating IS NOT the only source of unhappiness in a marriage. I painfully discovered. sad

What women don't know is that inside the heart of EVERY man there is a spot for true love. It takes the right woman to bring it out and soften even the hardest Pharaoh.

SniperInADiaper: Mtchew! If my husband falls in love with another woman then his ass is gone. What kind of man does that?
Pls remind me never to marry you, or anyone who looks like you, or has same name as you etc grin grin

C'mon, the guy is in love. He's a victim of romantic accident cool he should be pitied and helped. Reminds me of former South Carolina governor. grin

@ topic. I don't know if I'm the right person to advice you, but I think you should move away from him a bit. Let him realize that there is a possibility of loosing you as well. Bc right now he believes his lover is slipping away but he still has you as guaranteed. He needs to appreciate how it's hurting you, and how it'll hurt his kids if his marriage is broken. Talk to a counsellor (I'm no expert but I have a history of failed marriage. It ain't pretty) . Don't let him take you for granted while he runs around for his lost love. Which kind soul mate.

Whatever happens, cheer up, smile, have close trustworthy friends you can talk to. And please don't kill yourself. Learn how to love yourself too.

Y'all are busy attacking this dude but have you guys considered that he may be having a psychiatric disorder? Many people in Nigeria need psychiatric assessment on a regular basis.
But psychiatry ain't well developed at home. For a 21yr old dude ( his mates in the marines have been to Iraq and back 3ice) to claim he wants to celebrate children's day, with his fathers goat, is not normal. He needs help.

On another important note, I'm impressed nairalanders have not turned this thread into another tribal war. I hesitated before clicking on the thread but so far so good. Keep it up people
Career › Re: I'm Considering Leaving Medicine - Please Advise by toshmann(m): 5:36pm On Jun 05, 2013
@ anonymous,
You're 25yrs, still young, you have a whole life ahead of you. The last thing you want is to be in a career that is depressing you.

Let me tell you something about healthcare, if its not from your heart. . . . . . . . . RUN AWAY FROM IT!!
It's hectic, if you thought medical school was rough, try a life of a doctor. I can't narrate here how life as a doctor could be( I don't wanna discourage young medics) but you can only do it if its from your heart.

At 25 it's not late to start afresh IF YOU HAVE TO!!
A career you don't like can reduce your lifespan and send you to an early grave. It's like marrying someone you don't like. Hell will seem better.

So think well if you really need to start afresh, and if you do, it's not too late to start afresh. I've seen people in their mid 40s starting afresh. Not kidding.

I wish I was 25 grin
