hardbody: view of the foregoing, the Federal Government is of the informed view that with less than two days to the period when the revision will be statute barred (9th October, 2012), it would be impossible for Nigeria to satisfy the requirements of Articles 61(1) -(5) of the ICJ Statute,” Mr. Adoke said in the statement.Bros, You have the freedom to change ur nationality. touch_me_hard: He said the government “is however concerned about the plight of Nigerians living in the Bakassi Peninsula and the allegations of human rights abuses being perpetrated against Nigerians in the Peninsula and is determined to engage Cameroon within the framework of the existing implementation mechanisms agreed to by Nigeria and Cameroon in order to protect the rights and livelihoods of Nigerians living in the Peninsula. This should be our concern! The welfare of the people! Someone suggested that Nigeria should try out buying Bakassi from Cameroon, sentiments aside, it's a good suggestion anyway. |

mrperfect: He has a good point in my opinion, if this is last resort.I think so o, maybe we can try and negotiate with Cameroon to ascertain if they would be willing to sell. It's not just about the oil, it's about the people of Bakassi. From all indications, it seems they still want to be Nigerians. Let us leave sentiments apart, that man's suggestion can be tried out, if it works, good, if it doesn't work, so be it then. |

His words: “I salute Babtunde Fashola, whatever anybody may say, he has shown a flash of brilliance in governance. “But the 8 years before Fashola, what did they do in Lagos? “They used 8 years to build just one Millennium School; we in Ondo State, in just three and a half years, have built world class mega schools all over the state." I can't help laughing at Tinubu |

The FRSC has said henceforth any hospital that rejects accident victims would have its Chief Medical Director arrested and charged to court. The Federal Road Safety Corps has disclosed that henceforth, any hospital that rejects accident victims would have its Chief Medical Director arrested and charged to court, with a fine of N50,000 or jailed for one year. This is just as the Nigerian Navy yesterday told its men and officers to comply with the new traffic law in Lagos State, threatening that violation of the law was tantamount to double jeopardy for any erring personnel. Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Ameen Ikioda, gave the advice during an awareness seminar on the new traffic Law, at the Western Naval command, Apapa.. The seminar he explained, was borne out of the need to for personnel of the command to be conversant with the new traffic law and the danger of violating them, as well as to create a civil-military relationship. Represented by the Command’s Operation’s Officer, Commodore Henry Babalola, the FOC enjoined the personnel to subordinate themselves to civil authority, reminding them that the day they were enlisted into the Military, they signed away their liberty. He however, called on the need for the amendment of some of the stipulated fines in the law, saying it was not proportional to the offense committed. Addressing senior officers and personnel of the Nigerian Navy during the awareness seminar, the Lagos state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Corp Commander Nsebong Akpabi, disclosed that so far, the Corps had over 3 Million traffic offenders in its database, enjoining the personnel to key into the new law, reminding that road crashes don’t discriminate the personality of individual plying the road. He stated that any traffic offender who had up to twenty points from the Corps data, would have his particulars seized and consequent be disallowed from driving in any part of the country. Also speaking, the Chief Vehicle Inspector Officer for Lagos, Mr. Adebayo Olusoji explained that the fine stipulated by the Lagos state government in the new traffic law was not aimed at punishing Lagosians but rather, to ensure they adhere strict to the rules. http://thisafrica.com/frsc-threatens-doctors-that-reject-accident-victims/ |

yanni.:Despite the security challenges, investors still keep their investments alive in Nigeria, because the Nigerian economic environment yields more favourable returns than they can possibly get in other countries. |
In what seems like a twist from his supposed pro-masses activities, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai shocked his supporters and followers today, with his declaration that he is in support of the introduction of N5,000 note based on facts and not emotions. Even when his friend and fellow critic, Dino Melaye recently organized a peaceful protest at CBN headquarters to kick against the new policy. 1. Does this mean that Mallam is no longer pro-masses? 2. When did he start following "facts" and not "emotions"? Wonders shall never end!

bknight: I commend himIf he decides to reverse the plan just because people kicked against it, it show respect for the people that elected him into office. Afterall, the outcry was because of the perceived Eco iimplications |
Fresh controversy, trailed the proposed introduction of N5,000 note as there were speculations that the controversial note had already been printed abroad and shipped into the country preparatory to distribution. This came as the National Assembly and the National Economic Council insisted that they were yet to give the policy their blessing. The Central Bank, however, declared that what had been printed was just the design and not the original naira note which will come into effect in March 2013. Those who saw the design said it was the yet to be introduced notes, which they claimed had been printed and imported waiting for authorization of its release and distribution. CBN officials who want their names out of print, however, said the notes had not been printed. One of them said: “What ever any body saw is the design of the proposed currency not the real currency”. According to him, “before introducing any currency, you have to print a design copy for the monetary authorities to vet and look at the features to ensure they meet security specifications and every other feature in it” He said that the new N5,000 note may not be introduced this year but sometimes next year although there were speculations that the N5, 000 may come into circulation in January 2013. But a source close to the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Plc (NSPM) said some officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) were working out the modalities for the release and distribution of the soon to be introduced currency. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/09/fresh-controversy-over-n5000-note/ |

FSU: Hey dude!! Labor is an Igbo party. Igbo party is in charge in Ondo. That is why ACN wants them out.The question remains, Is the ACN party actually working in the states where they are in control? Lagos Stae is working because of Gov. Fashola's personality and not because of ACN |
There was, however, no reaction from the Boko Haram sect over the reported killing and arrests of its members by the taskforce at the time of filing this report. They may certainly deny it. They may claim that those arrested/killed were not their members, but the truth is that JTF has scored them 3-0. Secondly, That woman should be made to comply by revealing whatever info she has, even about her husband's involvement. |
They have to be on the lookout for another Abu Qaqa. It seems that name is a title given to their spokesperson, it may not actually be the real name of any of them. |
What is The National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA all about? Is it free medical services? |
They had better interrogate these guys they recently arrested till they reveal exactly where Imam Abubakar Shekau himself can be arrested. I really can't wait |

Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State has described as absurd the definition given to progressive politics by South-West governors who belong to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). Pointedly, Mimiko said his administration is more progressive than his other counterparts in the region in the implementation of progressive ideas and in impacting on the lives of the people of the state. The governor told the owners of the opposition ACN to forget the idea of capturing the state, saying the people of the state are not rats or rabbits that can be captured. His words: “We shall use the resources of Ondo State to serve the interest of our people. We will resist every attempt by those who want to divert resources of our dear state to service the interest of any godfather anywhere in Nigeria. “We are making progress in Ondo State and our projects are positively touching the lives of everybody. Those who want to take over power at all costs are merely thinking of annexing the state as part of their territories in the South-West. “They said they will conquer our state but we shall put an end to their territorial expansionist tendency. Nobody can capture our people in Ondo State because we are not grass cutters or rabbits that could be captured in the bush. The governor, who was on the campaign tour in Idanre in Idanre Local Government Area, stated that the state remains the most progressive in the South-West, contrary to what the opposition parties want to make the people believe. He said his administration has been implementing progressive ideas since inception in the past three and a half years. His words: “In our education sector, we are proud to say that no state in the South-West compares to us. Indeed, while students pay as much as N250,000 and above in tertiary institutions in all the South-West states, most of our students in Ondo State tertiary institutions pay less that N25,000 yet, members of a particular political party say they are progressive and boast that they will capture us. “In Nigeria today, our workers collect the highest Minimum Wage of N22,000 while most of the workers in the South West are still agitating for the N18,000 Minimum Wage, yet they claim they are the progressives. “Initially, they came to ask for the blueprint of our projects, we gave them, and now they copy them outright, yet they could not even imitate us well. And they said they want to capture us as if we are rats and grass-cutters. They will fail in their unbridled ambition.” The governor also lauded the vision of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, for bringing unprecedented development to the defunct Western Region with his innovative projects, urging upcoming politicians to emulate him so that they too could be remembered by generations unborn. Mimiko said the rapid developments that his administration had put in place had made Ondo State to tower above its peers in the region. He itemised some of these life-changing projects to include the innovative health care system for which accolades had been received from both the World Bank and World Health Organisation, urban development and human settlement for which he received the United Nations Habitat (UN-HABITAT) Award two weeks ago, in education, in agriculture amongst others. Besides, the governor pledged to construct a road that would link the ancient town of Idanre with Ofosu town on the Benin-Ore Expressway if re-elected for a second term in office. He explained that his administration had executed 64 projects covering all sectors in the area within the last three and half years. He said the Idanre-Ofosu Road, which would be awarded next year, if re-elected, would shorten the journey of motorists traveling to Lagos and would enable farmers convey their produce to various markets with ease. The governor added that foreign and local would also be invited to explore the rich potential of Idanre and establish industries that would take hundreds of jobless youths off the labour market. Meanwhile, opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), at the weekend, differed sharply over the allegation of importing votes from neighbouring states to influence the outcome of the governorship election slated for October 20. While the PDP, through the Chairman of the Publicity Committee of the party, Demola Ijabiyi, said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was engaging in illegal transfer of votes from ACN states, the Coordinating Director of Independent Campaign Network for Rotimi Akeredolu, ACN governorship candidate, Mr Wale Akinterinwa, said the party has no such plan. This development came as the Chief Olusola Oke Campaign Committee, in a statement by the Media Adviser, Kunle Adebayo, said the UN Habitat award given to Mimiko is not a product of an evidence-based assessment by the UN but a common recognition based on self serving application and black market representation by the governor’s award spinning merchants and contractors. His words: “The heaps of debris and human waste litter the densely-inhabited road from Lipakala to NIEPA road, Olanubi street, Ayeyemi street, parts of Igunrin in Governor Mimiko’s Ondo town. Ondo State government wants to use UN name to legitimise its ineptitude and emptiness. While many homes and properties of thousands of people in Ondo kingdom were destroyed; from Akure Garage - Kola Rewire area – Ife Garage - Surulere and Yaba areas under the guise of endless road construction since three years ago, with attendant environmental hazards, the governor and his palace jesters are rolling out drums, humiliating the people and dancing on their pains.” On the allegation of importing votes from neighbouring states, Ijabiyi had alleged that the votes were being transferred from Osun, Oyo, Ogun and Edo states where the ACN is the dominant party. Ijabiyi said this illegal transfer was being done in connivance with a top official of the electoral umpire. http://www.compassnewspaper.org/index.php/component/content/article/35-headlines/7715-mimiko-acn-governors-are-fake-progressives- |

Nairalanders sef. Look at how they've yorubalized the man's achievement. The news is about the Nigerian and not the yorubaman. Na wa oh |
@OP. you intended this thread to rubbish GEJ but u ended up rubbishing yourself. Why Nigeria seems to be on stand-still in terms of technological development is because most Nigerians are resistant to change. They don't take chances in terms of innovation. This is. Why they would prefer importation of wheat instead of exploring the use of cassava flour in bakery. |
