Hahaha now you're talking! This would bring about some level of a sense of responsibility and accountability. There should always be unbiased follow-up on contracts and projects by ministries. Nice one
PoliticsInsecurity: Nigeria Is Not An Exception – Lawmaker by touchmehard(op): 12:57pm On Aug 29, 2012
Senator Mohammed Lafiagi (PDP Kwara), has said that the security challenges  facing the country were a stage of development for the country which had happened to many developed countries.

“Any nation aspiring for greater heights must face challenges. Nigeria cannot be an exception and security challenges should be seen as events that must be overcome. ”

He however, expressed optimism that the nation would soon overcome the challenges.

Lafiagi also commented on the review of 1999 constitution and urged the National Assembly not to scrap the local government system from the constitution to guarantee development at the grassroots.

The lawmaker who condemned the call by some Nigerians for scrapping of local governments, added that since the system was closer to the people at the grassroots, it should be allowed to remain.

He said for any meaningful development to be made at the level, local authorities must be fully involved.

The senator canvassed for more power and resources for the councils to live up to expectation of the electorate.

“The problem confronting local government councils in the country would soon be overcome. Nigerians should think of how to solve the problem militating against their (councils) non performance.” (NAN)

PoliticsACN: An Opposite Of What Democratic Opposition Is All About by touchmehard(op): 11:52am On Aug 29, 2012
Action Congress of Nigeria (A.C.N.) can best be described as one who points a finger at another without knowing the direction of the remaining four fingers. They seem to have forgotten that you can't pull someone down in order to climb up. You cant rob Peter to pay Paul. ACN's approach to national issues sucks! In fact, A.C.N. is even worse than P.D.P.

Someone has this to say about the party: "ACN is quite an opposite of what opposition is all about. They are part of our problem, so selfish and always preaching doom. They once told nigerians that Hilary Clinton cannot come to Nigeria. She came spent one day and dashed into Ghana for the burial of Late Attah Mills. The next thing, they shouted "ahhhhhh, she ran away cos of the security problem in Nigeria". damn dis is crazy. Their approach to national issues is far different from what we heard about our founding fathers. They are becoming very very egoist, a situation dat is too bad for our national growth and unity."

ACN is bringing confussion with their unguided statements thereby creating more problems in the Nigerian polity.
PoliticsCynthia Osokogu To Be Buried On Sept. 7 – Family by touchmehard(op): 3:03pm On Aug 28, 2012
Miss Cynthia Osokogu, the victim of  an Internet dating transaction, will be buried on September 7 at Bebe, Ovia Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State,  the family has said.
Cynthia, a postgraduate student of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, was allegedly  killed by friends she met on the social media, Facebook, at a hotel in Festac, Lagos in July.
The suspected killers of the young woman allegedly lured her to Lagos on a phoney business deal and killed her in a hotel room.
The girl’s mother, Mrs. Joy Osokogu , who announced the date to the News Agency of Nigeria in Jos on Monday, advised youths to be very cautious of making friends with people that they did not know.
“The youths should be very careful, especially when they are making friends in the social media. Like we have seen in the case of my daughter, such friends may have ulterior motives,” she said.
She described her deceased daughter as “very industrious, hard working and a respectful child.”
She added, “She was my daughter, my friend and my sister. Her memory will never be forgotten because she touched so many lives positively in her short stay on earth.”
Osokogu said Cynthia’s killers had demanded N20 million ransom from the family.

AMEN o! May it come to pass. But how does that concern him? I just hope he's not planning to come and reap where he did not sow. If he is interested in us, he and his country should help us tackle our current security challenges, and not them to be eagerly anticipating our future economic growth for them to come and "invest". Investment ko, investment ni, we better watch out and shine our eyes.
PoliticsRe: I Will Surprise My Critics By 2013 – Jonathan by touchmehard: 9:40am On Aug 28, 2012
Jonathan said the Federal Government had proposed a new Anti-terrorism Bill 2012 to address the current security challenges in the country. Abeg they should quickly pass it into Law, so that these BH people and their supporters/ sponsors would be brought to book.
I think Nigerians should for once allow this man to concentrate and do the work for which we elected him. He hasn't even spent up to 2 years in office, yet we are expecting so much. He has to tackle Nigeria's problems one by one, he can't be a jack of all trade and master of none. Everybody is just shouting Jonathan Jonathan! Forgetting that he has ministers, and other key office holders wh should also be up and doing. He can't do it all by himself. We should also identify those that are not working up to expectation and ginger them, while those making significant impact should be encouraged.

Walahi I don't know why Nigerians are hardened haters and always turning a blind eye when positive things are starring dem in d face. So now, instead of acknowledging that GEJ tried is improving d power sector, they are eagerly waiting for the dry season to come so that they may prove him wrong.
Don't worry! Dry season will come and u will still see improved power supply, even better than it was during d rainy season.
By then, you people will still shamefully say "it's because of dry season, let's wait till rainy season to be sure the power will last". Na so una go just dey deceive una self, dey wait for dry season, from dry season to rainy season. "airoplane turner, turn turn turner"

Well, Even if GEJ isn’t going to still be in power by then, it is good 4 him to lay a good foundation for the 2016 Olympics while he’s still in power. The next presidential election is in 2015 while d next Olympics is in 2016. Assuming a new president emerges in d election, is it only 1 year that he will use to achieve a better outing at d Olympics d next year? The new president would definitely need a good foundation to build on.

Guys are you seeing what I'm seeing? Why are youths allowing themselves to be used to perpetrate evil? Why?
These evil men are busy enjoying their lives while using youths to achieve their selfish political ambitions. Youths should know that they have a bright future ahead and say "NO" to being used to perpetrate evil. Even if u don't have a white collar job, learn a trade or get trained in a skill and be ur own boss pls!
SportsPresident Goodluck Jonathan Wants 5 Gold Medals In 2016 Olympics by touchmehard(op):
Information emerging from the Minister of Sports and Chairman, National Sports Commission, Bolaji Abdullahi, has revealed that President Goodluck Jonathan is targeting five gold medals from the next Olympics which will be holding in Rio, Brazil, in 2016.

A lot of Nigerians have condemned the country’s performance at the just concluded London 2012 Olympics in which the country could not win a single medal. This speaks volumes about the state of the country’s sport ministry. The lackadaisical attitude to preparation for the Olympics by Nigeria has gotten us to where we are today as far as the Olympics is concerned.
It is against this background that the honorable sports minister has informed in an interview aired on Channels Television on Wednesday that President Goodluck Jonathan wants an early preparation for the next Games and expects no fewer than five gold medals. According to him, “Mr. President believes if we start to work now we can win five gold medals in Rio in 2016. If we start to work towards that target, we may or may not meet it, but we must begin now to work towards it and believe it is possible.”

Talk about foresight and preparation. The president really means business this time around. Come 2016, President Goodluck Jonathan will be celebrating at least five gold medals by the country. Although one wonders if the just concluded Olympics just came upon us suddenly without time to even think of preparation. Well, nothing is impossible; so, come 2016 Nigeria might just be going home with even more than five gold medals.

SportsRe: Nigeria And Olympics: The Way Forward by touchmehard: 11:21am On Aug 13, 2012
"Catch them young" is the answer. Schools should revamp Physical Education (P.E.) In order to identify talents. Inter-house sports competitions should be taken serious. Also, philantropists should try to sponsor talented youths to sporting competitions. I believe these would help. There may still be other suggestions though
