Afaukwu:exaggeration. Like the man said, anyone doubting his ancestry should go check with the Sultan. If OBJ didnt have problems despite similar rumors, then why should he. and how many people even know who he is for goodness sake. He should go talk to whichever newspaper printed his story. They said IBB's mother is an Ogbomoso woman- did anyone bother themseleves about it. |
becoomrich:that's all oh. That's all some people have been indoctrinated for- just kill kill kill. Their lives have long been stripped of any other meaning. North, south- just because it calls itself Nigerian doesnt make it my brother. There's brother and there's brother. |
whatever. why is this news? Does someone here know the man? ![]() |
double standard, culture or no culture. However, in Nigeria, I think the normal thing they do is one wife will be married legally or in church, and all the others will be through traditional ceremonies. That's how they circumvent the law. |
this is too general ![]() even bugs bunny will join at this rate. |
bemuwa:if both your parents and all your grandparents are from Ibadan, then of course you should be an Omobadan even if you dont speak the lingo. abi how do these things work? ![]() |
kodewrita:of course no be today naijas dey talk from both sides of the mouth. They'll sing whichever tune is in vogue. |

I'm not Ekiti but my mum told me recently (about two or so years now) that one of my ancestors' mum is from there. Dad's side. Long time ago. I wasnt aware before- I wonder why. Thought I knew everywhere I was related on my dad's side. |
I'm not even mad.
@ bolded are you sure? I know I'd be uneasy if someone kept telling me they're not even mad when I know they're offended by something I did. |
Beyonce is obviously more experienced than Rihanna. |
michelin89:sorry. Were you aiming to get some popularity? ![]() abi trying to edge out the competition since Obnoxious listed some other names besides your own. You'd like to be special? ![]() |
igbi:I dont know if that's a good test because honey also has sugar in it- fructose. If it has bits of the honeycomb and maybe a couple of bees, thats probably an almost surefire way of knowing its original. Pure honey should also be thick, and maybe have a certain color. Honey in the supermarkets have the guarantee, but for the one sold on the street at home, one just has to know what one is buying i guess. |
Men who cook, normally excel at it. But its more common to see a woman cooking. |
boy1:Indeed I can and will. make una carry una African polygamic mentality comot my face oh. if na curse then back to sender! I rebuke you in Jesus name.Do I sound like the type of person who will make a good multiple wife? Shine your eye! |
Dis Guy:oh, ok. ![]() |
mawuleko:ancestors in Yoruba normally translates as Baba or Iya eg Babajide, Babatunde, Iyabo, Yewande. I doubt there's a generic term. Cant think of a word for pride besides ako, which is a bit negative- it means stuck up. anyway, here are some translations of the names I mentioned: Babajide- Father/male ancestors have come back or risen Babatunde- Father/male ancestor has returned Iyabo- Mother/female ancestor is back Yewande- same as above, I think. I dont necessarily subscribe to reincarnation for the most part, but these are common names among the Yoruba. You can also consider other names like Akinjide or Akintunde. Meaning royalty/honor has returned. |
Nagudu sounds Hausa. |
@ topic I'm not sure. It could also be the way people around you see your name, that gives the effect. |
sweetpain:hellooooo I have married and unmarried friends and I know what goes on. abeg comot for road. Some women sleep with other people's husbands in order to get at the wife. You never heard that before? ![]() |
yawn. Didnt the OP curse out the admin in a similar manner a while ago. who dey fool who here. Next thread. |
the arms used by NigerDelta youths are made in UkraineI can believe that. There are a lot of Nigerians in Ukraine and other east European countries. |
is the guy really bleaching? ![]() Just because he's from an area reputed to have a majority dark skinned doesnt mean they dont also have lighter skinned individuals. I've seen his pictures and he doesnt look bleached to me. Maybe toned, same as 95% of other "light skins". @ topic Cant say for sure but I'm not in Oyo state and for some reason people arent posting much about the place. Their politics is too convoluted for me anyway. |
number one, that is cuba where 99.9% of the population is not black. haba, make una use common sense nau. if they want to spy on our gala secrets, they will send sum1 that can easily mix among the population and wont stand out so obviously, maybe another african in their pay sheet. a friend of mine has been doing research for abt 5 yrs here in the usa and canada for nigeria, traveling back and front, so i guess he is the nigerian spy we sent here bah? una no get work
seriously, where do you get your figures from? 99.9 percent of the Cuban population isnt black? Because you're seeing "white" Cubans in your area, therefore that means blacks make up 0.01% of the population in Cuba? Naija statistics again. ![]() And you people should stop flattering yourselves- the millions or billions of Nigerians abroad are there for economic reasons- either legal or illegal ones. Its not the same thing as a westerner travelling to Nigeria. sheesh. Dont know if you realise its not about the gala itself. abeg if una understanding no reach I'm not God who gives it. |
informat09:so because IBB isnt on your approved list of heroes, anyone who you think is IBB's fan, automatically becomes a criminal, right? so what's the vetted list of Nairaland Nigerian heroes so we can all know to dance, sing and ululate whenever their names are mentioned? |
abeg I don tire. everybody enjoy your day. Cant give myself a headache over the state of Nigeria's reading culture and educational manpower. ordinary google dey reveal all kinds of info- as soon as I typed in something the whole page filled up. Since I'm not a human google, make I waka. |
yea, the CIA will send an obvious whiteman to hawk the streets of lagos to get all that high value info. well when u see the world through ur prime it is easy to think that everyone else is at least half as dumb as u are, no offense
I dont see anything dumb about his post and btw, what's high value about hawking gala in lagos traffic? The question is, where's the information going, and who exactly will be using it? Our Nigerian "brothers" with American connections? Some other foreign power with interests in Nigeria? The US itself is always on the lookout for spies and locks them up regularly. Just last week or so I was reading about an old couple who they said were spying for Cuba using shopping carts or something similar. There's something called hiding in plain sight. |
African girls who grew up with AAs all their lives usually dont have a problem dating them, unless their parents strongly disagree. AA men in Africa also dont seem to have a problem acquiring girlfriends- in fact they usually get some high falluting ladies as partners. Cant say the US passport hurts at all when it comes to dating. I dont know which countries are more receptive and vice versa however. |
I'd like to see Clark get together with Chloe. Lex with Lana. for some reason, I'd prefer these pairings. and can Clark lose the boyish look. He's supposed to be Superman. |
