LastMumu: Yes they are music greats but I was specific about Africans in Africa. Fela is an irreplaceable music icon but you have to agree with me his message not his 'beautiful' voice was the main reason he was such a success. There is a dearth of real vocalists in the continent. In this era of lip-syncing and auto-tune, no one cares about how rough or beautiful an artiste voice sounds. When was the last time or any time at all you came across any viral video online of a kid singing in this country? None, I bet you! Go online now, the Internet is awashed with different videos of African kids showing their dancing skills. Watch Project Fame and Star Quest, then watch American Idol & The Voice (Not Nigerian version), you will see the stark difference in raw talents on display. We are blessed with good musicians not good vocalists.
you're so wrong!! there is a difference between vocally talented and knowing how to sing. shows like this one tend to focus on the latter which is why you to conclude that there are no vocally talented people around. I dare you to attend the auditions, not as a participant, but as a spectator. you'll be blown away by the vocal talent of rejected artists. |

9jakohai: I haven't seen unlimited blade....
However.....from watching the first episode, it appears to be more of a detective show....but there is some swordplay action there...albeit it is not the main thing there.
But it appears to be good.....and I am eagerly waiting episode 2.
If there was an anime I would liken it to....probably Cowboy Bebop please try and see unlimited blade works. You will change your definition of action anime. are the scenes better than naruto (after madara's arrival)? |

wow!! had log in to answer you oh!! lol. this is a very tough one.
look, abroad, geology has the upper hand as petroleum geologists are almost well paid as doctors over there.
But the Nigerian recession means oil companies are no longer recruiting, and the borehole business is now very congested.
computer engineering is very cool but the HND Bsc segregation is a big hindrance in the labour market.
you need to evaluate your current capabilities and contemplate how you will cope in either field after graduation.
that is: where will the job opportunity cone from? |

Samtob90: Since there is low oil prices, why can't you stop using petrol, stop producing. Despite low price, read what Saudi, Iran and other oil producing nations produce per day. All you need to do is construct more refineries produce more and let the price crash further as long as you don't import finished products, it won't affect you. Let oil be in large quantity, develop all other sectors and that is all what diversification is about. Nigeria discovered oil and neglected agriculture like your recommendation and this is where such policy led us I don't understand you. The price of a commodity is low and your suggestion is to produce more of said commodity? What are you saying? The Saudis who produce more than us are also complaining. Nigeria is blessed with abundant resources. I am not talking of agriculture alone. Let me give you an instance: there is a village in the north east with abundant uranium, this mineral has contaminated their farm produce and is killing them. Imagine: people dieing from money. Any responsible government will look at exloitaion of such minerals instead of foolishly focusing on oil. |

Samtob90: Your problem is that you don't know the meaning of diversification. It does not mean neglecting a sector but developing other sectors so that they can grow. Moving from mono cultural economy to poly cultural economy What is this one saying? Low oil prices is what has caused this current recession, it makes no sense whatsoever to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on exploration . An exploration that has been funded by obj, good luck yielded nothing. Now he is expecting a miracle. If only you know how much people are making on this stupid venture you'll rethink your support. |

That said, guys are greedy, and cheat cause they are, and you know.. Don't blame it on us, if any girl ever does it, they learnt from y'all ;Dseriously?!! One word "packaging". No be only evidence. hopilo: The technology of today use seismic survey to identify the very place you have crude oil. The era of blind search for oil is long over decades ago. Why waste money today searching for oil in an area with no seismic prove of oil. Nigeria is a funny place The survey process is in stages, seismic first, then drilling to confirm the interpreted seismic data. However I doubt that is what we are looking at here. Some Nigerian geologists can drill for air (knowingly) and tell the client they are drilling for crude oil. Note: it is in their best interest that the exploration continues forever. More exploration, more money for them. Any Doctorate petroleum geologist will tell you there is no oil in that basin. |

bigheart2013: As for me, I think most sisters in church are too naïve. they practically make no effort and contribution to make a relationship grow stronger. I will only refer to 'some' (the bad ones) here bc some are actually very good dates and realistic.
1.Imagine! some are obviously not virgins bc they have dated several men b4 they became born-again, they still say no-to-sex b4 marriage, which is ok, but some refuse other forms of intimacy (romance, French-kissing, caressing, etc), they want to surprise u on wedding night with 'trash' when u cannot run away again.
2.Some do absolutely nothing for the guy apart from eat his food, waste his time on whatsapp chats, sending him long prayers, and invite him to one church program or the other.
3.Some refuse to cook and help clean a boyfriend’s house claiming they are not his wife yet. So how do u know if they can cook according to GO Ade...?
4.So imagine u have a girlfriend who claims to be a Christian– no sex, no romance, no cooking, no cleaning, no playing, no ‘wordly’ gists etc but she takes gifts. What does a man benefit?
5.I am sorry to say that some born-again ladies make very bad dates. You benefit absolutely nothing from them yet they tell lies a lot. Most things they claim to be turn out to be lies later.
6.Some won’t help when you have problems but claim they are praying for u and sometimes even arrogantly claim their prayers is behind any little success you make.
7.men hate all that “my pastor said” Craps! Every man has his territory. You cannot be loyal to two men same time.
If u want to get, what do you give back? If u only want to be praying for me, then I will only be singing for u too. That should be enough!
Bros, pardon my long epistle. Na so e carry dey my mind today. Well said!!! Chop knuckle. |

Science/Technology › Re: 6 States At The Risk Of Earthquake – Researchers Raise Alarm by trilobite: 1:31pm On Jun 28, 2016 |
olawalepopoola: Dr. Adepelumi is a renowned geophysicist and seimologist. He taught me as an adjunct lecturer in LAUTECH. Nigeria is located on the eastern part of the west African craton located precisely in Ghana. This shows that our country is not 100 percent seismically stable. The RRF model of the separation of the South America and Africa culminated in the formation of a failed arm of a rift zone, which formed the Benue trough (Benue state is located on the Mid-Benue trough). If this third arm of the rift had been successful, Africa would have been divided into 2. All the states mentioned apart from Shaki, Oyo state are located around this failed arm of the rift zone, which may be on the way to be reactivated. As for the Shaki area, it is located on the major pegmatitic belt of Nigeria that trends from SW-NE and are majorly mineralized. Pegmatites are formed when magma intrudes a fault, cools and solidifies. So it is possible that this may also be reactivated. So it is advisable that the FG sets up seismic and awareness monitoring group to inform people about this. These regions if not monitored may be consumed and lost to "TECTONISM" I Don' t think its due to pegmatite formation. More studies need to be carried out. Let's not hastily conclude. But I trust their report will be ignored. Imagine ignorant people talking about state and capital, instead of talking about saving lives that will be lost when the quake hits (cause it will). |
Celebrities › Re: ‘Being A Feminist Is Denying Many Women Of Having A Husband' - OAP Freeze by trilobite: 11:16pm On Jun 18, 2016 |
DollyParton1: Basically I should choose a career that is less demanding because I am a woman. But the men can go for any career. And I must make sure my husband remembers the last time he ate my food. I am the destined chef....... dully noted.
Of course I know there are some fight you just avoid/ignore for the sake of peace. But I am referring to talking back when my emotion is prompting me to. Not holding back because I am human first of all and I am allowed to express my feelings. Not be afraid of my husband. Not keeping quiet because I am the female, but because I feel thats the right thing to do.
Women should be able to pursue their careers to the best of their abilities. The men in their lives should be able to pick up the slacks and take over some of the responsibilities/duties. The wife should be able to say "honey this week(s)/month(s) I am gonna be busy at work or at school, can u take over some of my domestic duties?" Or that "I will be coming home late for the next week(s), do u mind fixing the dinner each night? "
The last paragraph. I am confused. Please explain. Now I am intrigued. Sorry for the late response. Here we go: Answer to your first paragraph: YES. Second paragraph: silence is not fear, there cannot be two hot heads in a marriage, it never ends well. If he is the hot head learn to channel your anger in silence. I know women who are good at this. They don't nag or make noise when pissed, they keep quiet and wait for him to calm before giving calmly him a dose. Lastly: yes, as long as that pursuit doesn't blur their home responsibilities. Totally agree the man should pick up the slack provided it doesn't become a routine. Once a while and that's it. My line: if you are career oriented tell him before marriage, not after. |
Celebrities › Re: ‘Being A Feminist Is Denying Many Women Of Having A Husband' - OAP Freeze by trilobite: 5:07pm On Jun 18, 2016 |
DollyParton1: And you think that's not part of feminism? Being able to communicate your feelings to people around you is one of the tenets of feminism. This is a society where what the man says is final. No communication, no further discussion, nothing. As a woman, just take what the man/husband says. Because female and male are not equal. Women should be able to bodly let their husbands know that they do not want to be full housewives. That they want to pursue a career too. That they are unhappy with something. Question their husband actions if need be. Etc Hmm.....interesting. Like I earlier said choose wisely. There are men out there who encourage career women and I happen to be one. The thing is, people tend to get carried away with their life pursuits, for the sake of your home sacrifices must be made. Pick a career but not one that totally takes you away from your home responsibilities. A husband not remembering the last time he ate food prepared by the wife is just wrong. As for talking back, do you know there ways of winning arguments by surrendering. Not every time but sometimes boldly correcting people is childish pride. I have seen a lot of career matured women who have been able to remain good wives while chasing their careers. One solution is settling for careers or positions that give you time to face your home. Modified: I agree with letting your boyfriend or fiance know that you want to be a career wife not your husband. |
