please can anyone here explain the ECTS system. For instance, a course requires an applicant to have obtained 75 ECTS credits in physics. How can this be converted to the Nigerian scale of course units.

helpee: That is only applicable if they are yet to send his name for confirmation. This is abuse of our constitution. The constitution envisaged that some people chosen to act in some sensitive post by the executive may not be in the best interest of all that is the essence of confirmation. You can't be rejected for a substantive position and now claim to exercise same powers only in acting capacity. You yourself knows this is an aberration but i wonder when nigeria will ever be ok if we all see that this is not right but based on our partisan stand we close a blind eye. If the executive can keep people perpetually in position without confirmation by the Senate the essence of checks and balance is defeated we will never grow as a nation love the way you argue. |

niyogeol: There are numbers of scholarship you can avail yourself of if you intend doing postgraduate studies overseas.
Most of these scholarships are hinged on Second Class Upper division- 2'1, except NDDC - Niger Delta Development Commission that accepts 2'2.
Some of the foreign postgraduate scholarship you can apply to include:
PTDF, Agip, Shell, Exxonmobil, TOTAL E&P, BEA, Commonwealth, Erasmus, MEXT, MASDA et al. Most of the aforementioned scholarships take place annually.
Germany and Norway are also tuition free for international students. All you need to have is money for your upkeep.
Goodluck. Oga niyo!! been following you since. God will bless you tremendously. |

Afonjashapmouth: I understand what you are going through and the type of connection you want via the phone thingy, however have you ever settled down to think of the risk you are putting your family through in the name of technology? Let me point out some things to you.
First have you ever consider a phone leak from either side? what you would be exposing your wife and kids to in case of a leak?
Secondly what you might be exposing your kids to if they stumble on their mums phone by mistake and seeing nudity or mistakenly BC or post on social media?
Thirdly you making your wife see its normal to exchange nudity online and in case you have any rift while you are not home and she decided to cool off by having adventures online
You are exposing your family to a lot of dangers and trust me some women dont just go haywire but our bizarre wants makes them. Thank God she is not comfortable with it, brother apologize and amend you ways by backing her up and desist from your sinful lust. 5days off your family should not kill you my dear brother, that is why you are no longer a boy but a man. watch what you make your wife do in the name of marriage, always make sure she consent to it and not enslave her due to your selfishness. well said but "sinful lust" for his wife had me confused. married men having sinful list for their wives? Hmm...Nigeria!! |
Education › Re: Run Away From OAU Ile Ife If You Love Yourself by trilobite: 9:29pm On Jun 17, 2017 |
twosquare: I think felictorx is right to some extent. For Postgraduate students, OAU should be the last option. It is a No-No. Though they have sound lecturers but consider these turn-offs:
1) Your thesis won't add any point to your grade...it is just done like that, unlike other universities where it like 6 unit course. So, to attain your Ph.D. grade is totally based on coursework---such system is poor.
2) Lack of Ph.D. grade (60) means you will have to do Mphil...and OAU MPhil is 2 years (who have time to waste a whole two years. Why is it a waste? See the third point)
3) MPhil is not convertible to Ph.D. after two years, unlike U.I where there is MPhil/Ph.D. (After a year, you convert to Ph.D. and continue with your program if you have good grade).
4) A lot of 'Bureaucracy' and red tapes...That's where you see Form A, E, F, Abstract, K, and the likes, each having its useless and unnecessary time wasting procedures
5) Form A, for instance, will have to go to the department (you correct mistakes after it is returned to you), leave for the department (come back and correct mistakes)...while your mates in other schools are convocating... the same process till Faculty, Postgraduate College, and then your Oral Interview can be fixed. God help you if you don't have a good supervisor. I still have folks who are still there since 2014.
6) Other forms go through the same process as above....before your thesis is accepted whereas in some universities...you do your thesis and submit, and those forms do not add one value to your life
7) When your mates are convocating and moving on with their lives, you are still doing your program in OAU..growing old...
With the points above, if you still decide to go for your PG programs in OAU (especially Masters and PH.D., well, that's your own business...do not say I don't tell you.)
Just that, in some departments, you can easily get admission, unlike U.I...If you like these disadvantages, then find a way to beat the system, but not possible, especially the grade aspect
Cc Statsocial, emmasege, HeyHey, ssuccess, Noble4life nice analysis. rebuttal anyone? |

This bestowal of their approval is almost a ritualistic dance; they feel duty bound to give your man a hard time, so that he doesn't think he's God's gift to you. The important thing is for you to show maturity and steadfastness, so that they see how you feel about him. In the end, they'll say "okay o, since you say he's the one you want". But truly, they'll be happy for you.
That's not to say that they don't sometimes have genuine concerns. In which case their disapproval isn't just them playing "hard to get". well said!! We have a winner. spicylate abi na spicy ate, follow this advice. |

pocohantas: Normal thing, the married man is what we call sponsor. They don't in anyway stop you from having your own boyfriend, the married man might be in that party, watching the young boyfriend do his thing.
After marriage, it's the girl's decision to continue with him or not.
I am not in anyway supporting the act, I am only being realistic, not moralistic. It happens more often than you know, sometimes the guy is aware, most times he isn't. The lady can call the sugar daddy, 'uncle', 'godfather', 'father's business partner' and so many coded names they have for it.
Judgemetal pricks should stay off my post, I am not an olosho...will never be. If you can't read and learn, bad for you.
These men show little or no jealousy, you won't even suspect. They even encourage their girls to have a boyfriend, that way she won't bug him and scatter his own marriage. She might even collect your CV and give him to help you with a job... thanks for the education. I love your honesty. though its not right, but its reality. No matter what, person must marry. God help us. |

you are 19, haven't had sex?. believable...a bit.
you are 19, you will not have sex till you get married?. not believable. impossible.
Look, I have seen this a dozen times, and know how it ends. my advice:
Learn to earn respect from the opposite sex, stay grounded no matter what you hear or see and always maintain a good name. These should be your goals for now. Because when the serious man finally comes, these are the qualities that will make him take you seriously.
good luck with your choices. |

And as far as i am concerned, Nigerian Universities are better today than British universities in Victorian era, yet that produced Darwin and going further into the past, the likes of Newton, Maxwell et al. OK!! i just saw this post and understood what you meant. Now let us go to that era: Newton and maxwell were English scientists who had an enabling research environment. I have seen Nigerian scientists perform local research that would baffle those two if they were alive. Thing is, who in the government cares? nobody. You remember the earthquake prediction study carried out in the Southwest recently: the recommendations that were made, how many has the government carried out? none. I round up with the statement one of my favorite Nigerian profs: NIGERIA IS NOT SERIOUS. |

MiddleDimension: Nigerian Universities are better than universities in the western world that created the likes of Darwin, Newton et al
acidiocis is right when he said the middle class have always wanted to go outside. Poverty, lack of opportunity, lack of basic amenities are not the reason these people want to leave. They have always wanted to leave. seriously?!! did you read what I typed?!! Nigerian universities are better than what? are you being sarcastic? Patriotism is good, but yours is something else. I repeat, Nigeria doesn't have the facilities to train some specialists as long as these don't exist, the brain drain will continue. Go to some parts of Nigeria and see one professor lecturing in over 10 different universities. why? he is the only specialist in the that region. Talent poaching decelerates growth. |
