Human are created with freedom to chose what to believe or not, as long as it does not affect the social cohesion of the society. When a state makes a law equating apostasy to treason, the state have already declared war on its citizens which some conservative muslim countries had done hence creating fear on the heart of its citizens who, ordinarily, would have chosen to leave the religion.

The saudis, at least in this modern and information era, have not caged non-muslims but they still kill apostates and never allowed religious freedom. A christian can not build a church, a Hindu cannot build a temple, a Jew cannot build synagogues in Saudi Arabia. The US and Europe are gradually turning their back from religion while promoting atheism, LGBT and Islam. That's a fact. You need to do a YouTube search to see churches converted to clubs, mosques, parks and banks, they are many. Any non-arab that embraces islam must also embrace Arab culture, language and part of their social behaviour. If you can remember, we discussed quran 66:1, while the tafsir of ibn kathir explained it with an hadith narration (by sahih bukhari), the tafsir according ibn jalalayn explained the scenario with a completely different and unrelated hadith narration (by Nissai). If you want to apply a simple logic, you will understand that both different hadith narrations cannot be true at the same time; it is either both are wrong or one is true.
