Anyone with a brain the size of a pea can pick out any verse from any book and lay a bogus claim to the end to end meaning of the book. This is the habit of lazy students.

ogoamaka99: If not that we belong to other forums, one may think that what is happening in religious section of NF is normal. Forum is meant to be for interaction, learning new things we don’t know before, improving on what we know before etc. This is not so in Nairaland Forum,as what is generally obtained are quarrel lings, groupings and camps, whereby individuals tend to support whatsoever members of their camp said no matter if it is wrong or not, whether it make sense or not.
In this forum, many has mind set in that they can never welcome anything new that differs from the opinion they has already. Worst still is that in this forum individual tend to attack every thread by anyone outside their camp and at the same time they regard their personal opinion on any issue as final, and correct while viewing other opinions as trash.

However, the issue I want to point out in this thread is to let members realize that our opinion are never final and can never be final. This is because ever man/woman is entitled to his or her opinion. When it comes to religion, we should realize that every opinion is right or correct in ones opinion, because the opinion may be based on ones understanding, ones perception, ones faith etc. Because our understanding, perception, and faith differ always, our opinion must differ. It calls for us to RESPECT individual opinion.

Joagbaje: I don't believe in titles for title sake, but I believe in offices and callings. Nothing is wrong by addressing people by the office of their callings . Sometimes its done out of respect. Prophet , man of God , pastor ,Apostle , evangelist etc. we address One another as brother john , sister Ann because it carry more respect of courtesy and politeness instead of calling "john!"

Water baptism is a ceremony outwardly demonstrating what has happened on the inside. Water baptism is not a pre-condition to becoming born-again or for Holy spirit baptism. Being dipped in water does not affect your inner-man; anybody can get dipped in water or dip people in water. It is your inner-man that cannot be touched by physical water that gets born-again, renewed and baptised by the spirit of God.

As those who have been water baptised will confirm, the ceremony does not stop you from sinning. It is the spirit of God within you that helps you do that, and yet, it is still your choice to sin or not to sin, post-water baptism.

damilarelr: You painted it look as if we pay tithe and offering to help God! No, God doesn't need your help, we're the one who needs His. One of the benefits of the tithe we pay is to serve as a cover or insurance over the remaining 9/10.

You can tell between a tithe-paying church and a tithe-non-paying church.. If you give your money to only offering, what makes you different from an unbeliever?

damilarelr: I have gone thru Heb 7 again and again but I tell you, tithing before the law was not blotted out in any of the verses. Maybe you should read the chapter again without a tithe-abolishing sentiment.

@topic, if the church is a tithe-paying church, the pastor is also commanded to pay his tithe (Num.18:25-26). The tithe is a form of seed you sow (not out of pity like charity-giving), it must be sown into the ground where you derive spiritual nourishment (most times the local church) so that you can secure an harvest over your work or ministry.

The issue with most christians is that after planting the seed, they become idle and await automatic harvest. If you don't know how to receive from God, all your sowing will not bring any yield.

You may give 3or4/10 to charity, but your tithe which is just 1/10 comes first and it's vital to enjoy kingdom blessing.

Mind you, you must pay tithe: if you don't pay it to God you pay it to Satan!
