CultureRe: Fulani/ Hausa Myths, Mythology And Legends by Tsiya(m): 8:13pm On Dec 17, 2009
Most myths and Mythology and Legends stories in Hausa Land have long disappears. The only thing that is well documented are the histories of movement of people and how they wage wars. After the Islamic Jihad, most myths did not survive because they are regarded as spreading false.

The Kano chronicle is one of the few documents that survive and dates at least 1000 years. But even that book just contain names of kings, their period of reign and some major events. Nothing much to cherish. Then there is the Legend of Queen Amina of Zazzau.

And to be honest, Fulbe (Fula or Fulani) one is even more serious. We don't have such stories that we hold dearly that passes from generation to generation. The only thing they teach us when growing is the art of cattle rearing and self defence. The only legend associated with the Fulbe in Nigeria is Usman dan fodiyo and then each state have their own flag bearer. And then probably each family have an ancient grandfather that they considered different from other people.
CultureRe: Yoruba Language May Be Lost In 10 Years - Alao-akala Warns by Tsiya(m): 11:59am On Dec 13, 2009
Aloy~Emeka:
There is no Nigerian language that will go into extinction in the next 200 years as long as there are people from those areas who communicate with it.
There are many Nigerian Languages, especially in the north, that are on the path to extinction. The only reason why some languages in the North are still surviving is the micro nature of the economy of the Northern Nigeria. Hausa Language is gradually making numerous languages in the North irrelevant and they will definately go extincts. All the ethnic groups sandwitch in larger hausa territories, risk their language disappearing. I certainly know of ethnic groups and tribes in Bauchi, Gombe and Plateau that are automatically on the path to extinction and nothing can stop that

common my friend, it seems you like building up conspiracy theories. Nothing will happen. Do you know that china, is one of the major beneficiaries of Iraqi invasion? Nothing will happen. Stop dreaming there will be war or anthing. It seems to me you have been outside Nigeria for quite a long time and you do not think like a Nigerian anymore. Or you are in Nigeria but spend most of your time watching CNN, BBC and probably reading a lot of things on the net. My friend, the Nigerians, whom I am part of, will do nothing today if the government collapse and military take over. Apart from few politicians, most Nigerians will celebrate, after all we havent benefited from the so called government for the people

They won't be coming to help us. Like Iraq, it will be for the oil.

It is the US stated intention that they want move most of their oil supply out of the Middle East to West Africa. Nigeria's crude, Bonny light is about the best you can get antwhere in the World. We've already been courting trouble by openly treating the US with disdain for Chinese money. Its just not a good mix.

So in essence you agree there will be no war if the military boys take over the gov't?

I think you ought to know that, copying information from another site doesn't warrant it to be truth. You owe it as a moral obligation to be certain that, the source itself it is not lying, especially if it is not an official document. A source that is riddled with personal opinions, prejudice and political sentiment cannot be accepted in any moral arguement.
PoliticsRe: . by Tsiya(m): 2:28am On Dec 13, 2009
There will not be anywar. The UK or America will not deploy their forces to come and aid Nigerians when they refuse to aid themselves. Nothing will happen my friend. The past few years, we hav seen coupes in Africa and all over the world. Nothing happens if the citizens don't care.

Do you think, the masses, will come out and demonstrate because the military take over. No. No way nothing will happen.

Wallahi I tell u, nothing will happen. Infact, people will celebrate, if the general, col, or even the major, is bold enough to effect the arrest of people like Aondoka, Ibori, Goje, Yuguda and few other gov, publicly consficate their property and execute them.

The interest of foreign countries and multinationals is not Nigerians, it is their investment (oil), and they pretty know that their investment is safe whoever is the government in power.
PoliticsRe: . by Tsiya(m): 2:22am On Dec 13, 2009
We are a country that care less about ourselves but how foreign countries look at us. If Nigeria and Nigerians do really care about this country, something have to be done about the absence of the president.

Absence of the President, and commander-in-chief, is threat to our national security, the security and life of Nigerians in and out of the country. And it is also a threat the coexistance of many communities in this country.

As it is today, nobody in the country, have the moral and legal authority to deploy soilders/police outside their station without the approval of the president. We are country where religious/ethnic crises can errupts without warning or notice, what will happen to Nigerians today if such thing happen today or tomorrow.
PoliticsRe: The Youth Of Today? by Tsiya(m): 2:14am On Dec 13, 2009
I don't fancy military. I remember the hardship during IBB and Abacha regime all the time.

But we cannot avoid to discuss the reality of our history. There is no doubt, if this was 20 years ago, we should be bracing ourselves for the faithful Radio Broadcast from a general.

Fela and Gani fought hard for this democracy, but they have been failed by the beneficiaries of the system that their agitators brought.

It is the duty of every Nigerian, and the Institutions that hold Nigeria together to call for the proper hand over to Goodluck, even if they guy cannot resign. And it is the duty of Institutions that are meant to protect Nigerian society to call for immediate recognition of Mr Jonathan as their commander-in-chief.

There wont be any war. Nothing will happen. Are we not in Nigeria? Are we not Nigerians?

What will happen is, some few politicians will be locked up. Few will be bitten and few will be killed. That is all.

I do agree there will be war on cyber world.
PoliticsRe: . by Tsiya(m): 1:54am On Dec 13, 2009
I am not praying for that. It is just how the system work suppose to work. If the National Assembly cannot make the President to resign, what they are automatically, they have let loose the armed forces to do what they like since their commander -in-chief is missing. The Armed forces do not take order from FEC nor from defence minister. The Politicians are messing things up here. They are inviting trouble for us

PoliticsRe: . by Tsiya(m): 1:46am On Dec 13, 2009
I think the military should force him to resign. Imagine the defenders of our nation, are scattered all over the country and Africa, but they don't know where their commander-in-chief is hiding.
PoliticsRe: . by Tsiya(m): 1:44am On Dec 13, 2009
Kind of funny how Nigeria is turning too.

In the good old days, just give the soilders a slight opportunity, they will boot the sitting government out. Look, the soilders are presented with coup materials but they don't know what to do. Now, everybody is kind of, I don't know how to put it, used to being just like that. Even the trigger happy soilders are no longer active. I bet the only people now capable of coups are Police.

At least, I now understand that, that Nigerians are gradually becoming civilised, and the rule of law gradually taking place
PoliticsRe: 12 Days Without Mr President: Obj Ruined The Northern Agenda by Tsiya(m): 8:03pm On Dec 08, 2009
It really annoys me when I read all these conspiracy theories about North. These guys just sit down behind their desk and come up with conjectures of their fantasy and claim them to be news. How can what these newspapers publish be considered a credible news in the world of sane people? Who is the North? Who make decision in the North? Who is their source? Why are they afraid of telling us their sources. Isn't this suppose to be news? Anybody that gives interview on such an important topic, and decline his name to be published, then the news is not worthy to be publish. People should own up to the responsibility of what they say.
PoliticsRe: Yar Adua's Handover And Senator Mohammed Abba-aji by Tsiya(m): 7:48pm On Dec 07, 2009
What even make it ridiculous is, how can the President write a letter to the Senate, without the AG and Abbaji knowing the content and what is written in the letter? Is it a love letter that no one in the Presidency knows the content? These people call Journalist in Nigeria, need to be brought to order. They should stop publishing conspiracy theories in the name of News.
PoliticsRe: Scrap 36 States Now —anyaoku by Tsiya(m): 8:33pm On Nov 30, 2009
The model of governance is the basis of good governance. Looking at the world over, we have different systems of government from India, Russia, US, China and in the Europe. And each model will work fine if it operates within the laws that it is set up and also put the interest of it citizens at heart. In my own opinion changing the structure of our governance will not make the system better. Mr Anyako, as a Sec of Commonwealth, certainly knows all the 50 commonwealth countries have different government structure and the countries doing well it is not because of their structure but because of upholding the rule of law.

Having said that, 36 states is not the problem of Nigeria. In my own understanding, The basic problem is lack of devolution of powers and financial independence to the states and local governments. Creating mega states (regions) will aggravate the problems in Nigeria and create another crisis within crisis.

Local governments should be given greater autonomy and the traditional rulers should be converted to elected posts(with longer tenures) and serve as mayors therefore making them accountable to their people. Traditional rulers have significant influence in our society and the politics but they are not accountable to the people. I believe one of our basic problem in Nigeria is running multiple systems at the same time. We are in the 21st century, but we still operates the systems of 18th century.

We also as citizens of the country, we are the cause of this problem. Certainly I know the bulk of Nigerians complaining, once they reach the top, the become the samething.

I think there's a diff. between wishing you were fairer and wishing that you were white. Black women "tone" and bleach because they feel dark skin is ugly. But not that they wish they were born white. You can't wish you were born different (like some wish they were born Americans, British, Nigerian wink wink wink).
It is because of the limit to which they can turn themselve to white that is why they stop at being fairer. If they can go all the way, I believe some, if not most, will

MJ hate being black. Did you see his children? They are as white as Prince Williams. We certainly know that if he is black by genes, it wont stop his kids from being mixed race even if the mother isn't black. The guy is so ashame of being black that he has to reproduce using someone spam. It is just weird.

PoliticsRe: Nairalands Credibility (the Little It Had) Is Gone! by Tsiya(m): 7:27pm On Nov 17, 2009
Well certainly the forum is lively as long as there is something interesting happening in Nigeria.

For instance, during the Boko Haram crises, so many intelligent posts, so many conspiracy theories, a lot of solutions. Everything have died down.

Then Sanusi came with his Banking reform. A lot of posts, arguements and counter arguements. Conspiracy theories.

Then the amnesty.

But now, it seems the Nigerian political system have calm down. Everything is going along with Yar'adua.

The occassional discussion and complain about kidnappings have died down because, kidnapping is gradually becoming like armed robbery or road accidents, and NEPA. It is no longer news.

The crisis is Anambara states have bn going on for more than 4 years, people are tired of Andy and Chris Uba. Moreover it is a local politics.

So what do you expect to get from this forum. Especially from the Political section. It got to be dull because the Nigerian politics is dull. All you need to do is read the Newspapers and you definately know that the country is lacking challenging hot topics.

But the Romance and Family sections are alive. You can try them.
CultureRe: Why do Nigerian Women Bear Their Father's Name, After Marriage? by Tsiya(m): 6:58pm On Nov 17, 2009
1st we have ask you made a condition that when a woman marry, she should bear her husbands name? Even in the bible it didn't say the woman should discard her fathers name and bear the name of her husband for the sake of submission. This is a culture we borrowed from the Europe or the western world.

I did not see anything wrong in a woman bearing a her fathers name. Infact, there is need for women to stop bearing the name of their husbands. Most women re-marry when their 1st husband die. Most women re-marry when they are divorced. Should they keep on changing names anytime they have change of a husband? Why should a woman bear the name of a man who, in some cases treat her like an animal? In the sense of fairness, justice and equality, a woman should keep the name of her surname prior to her marriage.

Hard time is hard time.

Wether u are in foregin land or in Ajegunle.

Not every person is suppose to be rich, whereever he is.

I do believe that Nigerians, whether in abroad or in Nigeria, majority of us, are not finding it easy. The reason why most migrates is because of the condition in Nigeria.

What I also do know is that day by day, if the gov't of Nigeria  did not do something soon, we risk loosing a generation of talents to foreign countries

A few well to do Nigerians shouldn't believe every other Nigerian is well to do. Over 50% of our people do not have access to water, food, hygine, medical service, let alone education.

We should be careful with what we say. If it is not us today, it may be us tomorrow.
