guy, how those this example even rhyme. A king of the community where the killing was done was declared wanted and u are asking a random stranger on nairaland why he wasnt declared wanted to prove a point that the king is guilty.

no be fight. Since u didnt want me to quote u, u could have just ignored all I said. Anyway like I said take a chill pill, we are not fighting. Since what I original quoted was a general comment from you advising someone to marry only from his tribe because he is Edo.

It looks like foolishness to you but try to listen and heed when your parents advice you. By the time your potential mother in law gives you such an obvious indication of what your life would be like should you persist, my dear, save yourself the heartache and look elsewhere. My sister married a yoruba as well, I married outside my tribe as well so I obviously have nothing against inter tribal marriage in general. Edo people are just not it. Leave them for themselves as the elders used to say, if cunny man die, na cunny man go Bury am.
my mom can't advice to marry from one particular tribe because both her and my dad are from different tribes. She can only tell u don't marry this particular set of people but she won't decide the tribe I marry from. I also want to believe not everybody from edo are bad. Even my mom that is from ogun as warned my sister's from marrying a man from that side. Anyone can marry from their tribe and it ends up bad for them.

Why do you want her to marry you, an edo guy before? Even if she was dating you, being childish and uninformed, the moment she introduced you to her parents, they must have told her to wake up from her slumber and let you go. Una no good fa!

I was once dating an edo guy from esan. When he took me to meet his parents, his mom called me aside and told me hoo-ha that 'esan no dey marry outside, na esan dey marry esan!' I comported myself instantly. At least she didn't waste my time. Go and look for your tribe to marry.
I don't understand this tribe tribe nonsense. We are no longer in the stone age. If u cant marry outside ur tribe, no problem that is ur business but don't try to make it look like that is the general accepted way things are done. My mom is Yoruba and my dad is delta ND they have been married for more than 33years now.

Timoleon:
. This is not the thread about that. This is a thread about employing a driver and a maid not about buying a car. Stay on topic.

Firstly, 2.4 million can buy a car. No be by force to buy tokunbo. You can get a good nigerian used for that price. People dey japa regularly, you can always find a good bargain if you look out properly.
Moreover, right from day 1, most people who bought a car have always had to buy it with more than their annual salary. If you don buy car as a salary earner, you go know. When cars were sold for 4000 naira, the average graduate was earning 200-300 naira. It didn't stop them from buying a car.

Below is a story of a woman who bought her first car in 1981. Obviously, her annual salary could not buy a car.
u don't get the point here. Since her annual salary couldn't buy the car, it means she must have gotten money from somewhere else to buy the car. Now back to the topic what he said was the with 200k as ur monthly salary u could employ a driver and also a maid and I am trying to tell u it isn't possible because that money isn't even enough for u after u remove money for fuel, feeding ur self, accomodation and other billings that will come up during the month. I am not saying u can't live an okay live with that 200k but it would have to come with a lot of sacrifices and once things like car come in, that money isn't enough for u again. Ur argument here is someone who earns 200k a month can employ a driver and a maid right? U should be able to do a brief estimation of how u will split that 200k btw every bill u have and still pay the maid and driver and u will see that it is just not possible unless u plan on paying 10k or less for their services.

Do you know how much they pay for their constant electricity?
My cousins monthly electricity bill is £128 in the UK. That’s more than enough to run my gen for a whole month.
it isn't there fault that their currency is higher than our own. When we are comparing salaries people will tell u not to do the naira equivalent, but now u are doing the naira equivalent to compare light and fuel price.
BusinessRe: Earning ₦200K Monthly In Nigeria Is Better Than £2000 In UK - Allen Onyema by tuzle(m): 1:02pm On Mar 28, 2024
Timoleon:
Yes. The op didn't say you have to buy the car recently did he? It's you who is adding that. He simply said you can hire a driver from a 200k income and that much is true. There are a lot of hungry people out there who will gladly take the job for 20k. Is it a fair salary? No. But will they take it? Yes. This much is what this thread is about. Can a maid be engaged from an income of 200k? Yes. If you made an offer as a young man who works Monday to Saturday that a maid should come clean your house on Sundays cook and leave and you'd pay her 15k monthly, you'd definitely find someone who will gratefully take the offer. Is it a lot of money in this economy for the maid? No. But will the offer bw taken? Yes. In the present Nigeria, people work for as little as that even for worse conditions.

How much does a person employed in a pos shop get paid? Many teachers in small private schools don't take home 20k. Many factory workers take home 25k or less with hard Labor. Many secretaries of really small offices earn 15k or less.

Do you really think it is impossible to find someone who will cook and clean 4 times a month for 15k? Or someone who will drive for 20k?
I don't understand how u guys support rubbish, so even if u have a car already and u earn only 200k u will employ driver abi? So minus the 20k u mentioned from the 200k. How much is left? Then minus petrol cost from the balance abi is it water u guys want to use to drive the car around. If u are going to be taking ur car out regularly in a month, no matter how fuel saving the car is, u will still require nothing less than 60k fuel for the entire month. Now add feeding and accomodation cost and other expenses like data, mechanic. It just isnt possible.

If you answered the question honestly, there'd be no need for this your writeup. In Nigeria today, there are people whose salary are 200000 or less who own a car.
I just gave u a calculation to see if it was possible and from my calculation it isn't possible to own a car if u are earning only 200k. Prove me wrong that someone who earns 2.4m per annum can buy a tokunbo car of around 5m in 3years of earning that same amount.

Please help me with this question with sincerity.

Are there people in Nigeria who earn less than 200k monthly and own a car. Be sincere with the answer. I personally know a few of them. Some of them are currently building their personal houses little by little from their 200k.
are this people family men? How are u sure that is the only hustle they are doing? Let's do the calculation. If u earn 200k in a year u will have 2.4m. Tell me if 2.4m can buy a car if u a car in Nigeria and that is if u save ur entire salary. Because they have a car or they are building houses doesn't automatically mean it is that 200k that is covering everything.

You are assuming the person has to buy a car. If the person comes from an ok family and inherited a car, that's his car na.
won't he buy fuel. If u want to drive ur car to and fro let say to work and other places u are going to, u will still need nothing less than 20k fuel every week. So tell me how u will be able to save after every other expenses. We haven't even added maintenance of the car into it.
