#GraceGotMe

Name: Queva/Capital/Com

Reg: SAV

Venue: Sav Lander

Sale price: $999

Hold time: 23hours

I decided to experiment with sav lander because of their 4% commission. But unfortunately, I needed to wait for 14days to have my fund for the domain that was reg and sold on sav. And went to the buyer the same minute he paid. The rationale behind this, i don't know.

They are one of the best registrar out there, because I have about 140 names with them. But they are one of the worst marketplace. I'm not using them until they start instant Cash out.
Big congrats, bro! More sales.

Did you get this from ED? If not, could you share the inspiration for it?

....."School issues"

Listen, my Dad, had no one to train him so he never attended a Secondary school. He read from home, while keeping a 8 - 5pm job , and passed his O-level and A-level. Then went on to make 1st class in the University and became a Lecturer.

Do more planning than just trying to be like the other person. Top skills can be acquired today without paying through your nose at a university.
This race is not for the SWIFT.
May God bless us.
Wow, I doff my hat for your old man! smiley And you made some very valid points in your post(s).

Inasmuch as education is good, I'd rather advise any young person today to focus more on acquiring skills than on just certificates (especially less on those given in Nigeria).

If I had so much opportunities for learning as I do today (and had a mentor or counsellor) many years ago, I could have chosen to at least postpone the degree chase and learn self-sustaining skills.

Back then I no need to worry about the basic needs - food, clothing, and shelter. Now, story don change. If money is not seen to be coming for those needs now, I no fit concentrate to learn most things. grin

You have nothing to lose if you keep one name at SH (even as Standard listing) while you still list it on Afternic.
Feels like I have a lot to lose with that commission for a name not accepted for premium listing. smiley Because of that commission ($300 min), I couldn't reduce the prices of some names as low as I wanted recently to see if that could get one or two sold.

I don't see the sense in unilaterally adding "Market Exposure" for a name you deemed not good enough for Premium and, thereby, impose a higher commission.

Yes bro, I tried the 3 options in 'Pause between Emails', yet I got same result of mails landing in spam folder.

Manually is the best though very stressful. But, provided you are getting responses and a reasonable number of sales, then it worth it.
Now, that's a problem.

Any one with better free option of sending minimum of 200mail per day should share.
I think a better option would be to keep the number of emails you send per email account within a 100 limit.

Yeah, I have failed to do that many times myself but I am trying to stick to it more. This is also based on my readings.

Am not the one you quoted though. But I sent 1,200 emails manually last week. I eventually sold the name for $150 offer cos I can't repeat the stress.

Almost all my end users emails are 400 to 500. 100 emails for 30 minutes, I will change the sales letter and send another 100 for 30 minutes. I have close to 15 emails for outbounding and I've been lucky with a couple of sales.

Very stressful but I have not choice since I tried gmass and all the mails are going to spam.

Do you have a better option even if I have to pay?
Did you try the option to pause between emails in GMass? I'm currently on an experiment to see if that could serve as a good alternative to manual sending.

This was based on an hypothesis that I probably wasn't getting responses to many emails because they were all sent in less than a minute or two with merge. I assume these emails were going to the spam folder because of this.

2 years isn't such a long time.
The challenge most Nigerian domain Investors have is that they don't have a stable source of income to cater for renewals.
Brandable domains don't qualify for "Quick flips"
I am okay with Squadhelp since I can now list same name on Afternic
Things are getting better, God is with us.
I'm not one of those seeing the selling of domain names, let alone brandables, as a get-rich-quick scheme. That hasn't been my story so far, really, although it's been rewarding and, at times, exciting.

My issue with SquadHelp is the frequent rejections. I don't bother submitting anymore because I can't afford to continue donating money. The only one they accepted for premium (priced 1999) after several months and initial rejection is still unsold, though I am not surprised. Those ones that got sold were the types SH rejected.

I see they have added market exposure for some rejected names, meaning 30-35% commission if sold. Imagine, after rejecting o. That's part of the reasons I am thinking of porting in the coming months. Otherwise, I might maintain the status quo.

From one of my student.
Interestingly he has previously sold this domain for $60 but can't transfer because the domain is not up to 60 days. Buyer said he want a refund.

So the sale was canceled.

Less than $60 I mean.
Another end user later bought it $500. No pricing.

While some feel reporting sales are gonna lead to someone reg. similar name and pitch to same enduser.

Last Month was an Instance sef, only like 5 dropped sales report.

The number of domainer keeps increasing here and sales report dropping steadily.

What's the cause of the low sales report huh ?

Thanks for your response. I wonder what could be wrong then.

Yes, I was able to view products in a US city (Chicago). But I didn't find a single seller with reviews neither was I able to see Buy Now or Make offer button on any of the items I viewed.

I saw a message reading "This listing is far from your current location" at the top of every listing I viewed. This made me wonder if this was why I couldn't find a Buy Now button.

Thanks bro. It was really a good deal though I wanted to purchase some other items before shipping but Facebook banned my account from using marketplace.
Hello. Did Facebook reveal the reason for the ban? I'm curious.

Also, did you change the location (on your profile) from Nigeria to US to be able to buy on Marketplace?

I can search locations in the US but no option to either buy or make offer. Maybe this had to do with the notification that those areas are far from my current location. Thanks.

Offerup lost the rhythm although you can still get decent deals. Most items advertised on offerup are on arbitrage I.e people buy cheaply from other places to resell. So many folks on offerup are resellers themselves. As things stand, Facebook and Mercari provide us with unique profitable solutions.

PM me.
Oh, I see. I have sent you a PM request, sire.

Depending on the reasons for undelivered item, in most cases you can file trade dispute and if AE team investigates and verifies your claim, you will get your money refunded back to you.

Once you win the dispute, email notification will be sent from AE. Depending on your bank, the refund usually takes 5 - 10 working days. That is not to say some few useless banks won't get you credited for a month.

I won't say the warranty stands except in quite few cases (acyually one case) that I'm aware of. The item was a morningstar MPPT solar charger. Of messed up within one year and the company sent the guy a replacement at no extra cost or shipping cost.

Bht let's say few sellers try to honour their warranty. Once you chat them up and show proof of your demands, they may ask you to return the item before a new one is shipped to you. But I tell you, shipping stuffs from here to China will put a hole in your pocket, so at the end of the day the shipping fees is more than the cost price of the item. And since the seller is not willing to send a new one without seeing the defective one, giving up on such futile attempts is the common reaction.

I have been in this situation before. An inverter I got from the seller began to act up within one week. When I complained, the seller suggested I send the defective one for them to check it while they send me a replacement. But the NIPOST charges for shipping to China is prohibitive. So I kúkúma jettison the idea and instead convinced the buyer to give me significant discount on the replacement inverter that I was going to buy again and he obliged removing almost 20k worth.

I think speedaf (a new entrant into the logistics business) will likely charge much less to ship to China because they usually have a lot of returns anyways and they are all sent back to the sellers in China. Speedaf also does local logistics within Nigeria and their rate is cheaper than NIPOST's.

Custom duties are charged based on the price of the item (that is the price declared on the label of the envelope. So it varies. I think items more than 64k naira automatically attracts duty.

However, there are items, including phones, that have escaped custom's scrutiny and the buyer got it without paying a dime as custom duties. But that is in very rare cases.
Wow, boss. This is HIGHLY helpful! I really appreciate your patience and time put into this detailed response. God bless you.

I'm happy I mentioned you. smiley

SALES ALERT
Get//Initiated//king
Brokered sale
SP: $1000
Sale Venue: Dan
Outbounded and sold with 4 hours.

I feel like I should share the story behind this sale. Someone might a thing or two from it.
So I am on my laptop, sending mails to end-users make them buy my domains, as usual. And then someone (in Canada) I contacted via their website contact form responds, (please don't joke with website contact forms, especially if you don't see any emails) He says He is not interested in domain name but he has a domain name he wants to sell, asking me if i would be interested in marketing it for him, and I respond saying yes.

Then he gives me a background story of how he had a company, and his best friend and personal assistant leaves his company along with a few of his best staff to go open his own company. And then he ends up closing his own company. Out of anger and spite, he sees that this "friend" has bought the .ca of his company name and so as revenge he goes to buy the .com domain. So after holding it for a few months or a year i think, he decides he wants to let it go.

So I request for the name of the domain, and also tell him that whatever we sell it for, we split 50/50 which he gladly agrees. So I set to work, with only one end-user in mind (his "friend"wink. I send him a mail as usual, and he responds that he would be interested but only ready to pay $500. I start my negotiation from $2,988 after a lengthy negotiation battle, we settle for $1000. He pays a few minutes later. My canadian friend now gets skeptical about transferring out the domain because he thinks I might scam him. He begins to question me, and I let him know from the onset that I'm a Nigerian. This creates some doubt in his mind. But after a few exchange of words and even pictures (Yes, I sent him my picture of myself and my wife), He decides to take the risk of trusting me.

He transfers the domain as Dan has instructed and within 2 hours the money lands in my bitcoin wallet. Now I am not able to send him his share that same day. Am sure this must have caused him sleepless night cos he kept firing mails at me asking when he will get the funds.

Well, first thing the next day, I transferred his share of the money to him and as soon as he sees it, he is so elated and he responds with the message in the picture below and even promises to assist me whenever I am ready to relocate to Canada (Yes, I told him I have plans on relocating to Canada).

Oh, And he later reconciled with that "Friend" of his after the transaction, which He also thanked me for, for helping him overcome the bitterness he had for his friend.

So sorry for the extra long epistle. I just felt I should share.
Wow, just wow! This is a good story!

Hi and thanks for joining us. The possibilities are endless. It’s all about doing your research, get good deals and we handle your shipping.

We are going to begin October by posting deals that will give good profit.

My philosophy is if you spend N100k on buying and shipping the least you should make is N40,000. If you do this twice in a month that a good side hustle.

For those that talk about selling fast… just post online and your item will go in less than 4 days. This is a practical thing and I have had people under my belt before this thread.
Interesting! I would like to know what to buy to make that. Last time I checked OfferUp, it seemed 100k couldn't get me anything exciting.

Legit phone offers I saw were mostly around $150 and above. Add cost of pickup and delivery, money don pass 100k with the current exchange rates.

By the way, I wasn't added to your group when I registered on the site few weeks ago.

The whole call lasted 9 mins 27 secs
A few questions though,
1. HOw on earth did they get my BVN and know my full details including date of birth?
2. How did he know that the ATM card was from Sterling and not Standard chartered as I told him it was?

Anyone, this is the fraudsters number 08145677895
I like you, man! If I were the one, I might not have been patient enough to waste his time (and mine) that long. It's probably after ending the call that I'd start wishing I did. grin

Your experience is reminiscent of mine a day or two before Lagos first announced lockdown last year. Sadly, I didn't tell anyone except the particular bank that the suspected fraudster told me he was calling from; my mum later fell a victim as a result. sad

Regarding your first question, my thought at the time was that an insider was involved. The fellow had more than "ordinary" information.

As for the second question, I think these fraudsters attempt to use people's cards online after getting the requested details. Online platforms, especially the local ones, would display a page showing your bank name and logo while requesting for an OTP sent to your phone. Remember?

1. I have read here about some people never getting what they ordered for, including phones. Do people get their money back in such instances or it's gone?

2. Does warranty on product count for anything on AliExpress? Imagine someone bought a phone and after a few weeks or months it started misbehaving. What would happen? I don't want to assume anything. smiley

3. Are there specific items that custom duties are levied on? Or is there a particular price threshold that triggers the payment of duties?

Thanks in anticipation!

I doubt someone like this will listen if you follow conventional methods. He is more like a lost cause. Which means that something like 'Good afternoon, I'm not trying to rob you, blablabla' will not help.

I feel like crying reading this. But I am happy because someone still find it valuable. I wrote the letter to myself something like 2 years ago.

Perhaps the subconscious mind knows that it might take longer than usual before I land my first sales in Domain name business ( don't be surprised I am YET to make my first sale for over 2 years).

I am kind of person who doesn't give up easily on any business venture or idea. Alexxien thanks for bringing back the memory, it serves as a great reminder for me to keep going.

P.s: Those two names (AwesomeDuru and Ikhalyfah) I mentioned in the letter are now among the biggest players in the industry. Sweet.

Resound YES, is it a big deal?? Perhaps I am having illicit affairs with GRACE's boyfriend and she refuses to pick up my calls grin cheesy
Keep going, soldier! You're closer.

I think I also didn't sell anything in the first two years of trying my hands at this. But I kept hoping and learning.

That's how I learnt about Geo domains through an earlier domain name business thread here by someone whose name has escaped my mind right now. It was then I made my first sale. Before Geos, I had wasted all the $0.99-$3.99 GoDaddy offers I had back then on generic keyword domain names.

This thread is loaded with useful information. I was wondering: do you take note of useful ideas and hints that you can research further?

Could you consider seeking guidance from some of those names that you mentioned? I could volunteer myself, but I wonder what kind of results I'd be able to help you achieve. undecided grin

Apart from this thread, Ikhalyfah's aisabdomains blog can also be very helpful.
