Sal C: An open minded study of the sacred scripture is very likely to make you Catholic. Thank God for his conversion. I think a similar thing happened to Paul Whitcomb the author of confessions of a Roman Catholic.
yeah i also read paul whitcomb, that one is quite old. It hit him when he came to the conclusion that the true church is a teaching church not a bible distributing church and the eucharist is the body and blood of christ not just a "symbol".
It was a good read.
Christianity Etc › Re: Can Someone Explain What Matthew 16:28 Means by Ubenedictus(m): 9:52am On Apr 13, 2013
obadiah777: like i always tell people, the new testament is a book for the elect. its about how the elect unified the world both jew and gentile back to christ and these are whom christ died for so as to be able to accomplish this feat. and the rest of the new testament is letters back and for th between the elect. with that backdrop of that verse being established lets get to the verse itself
christ pardoned the sins of the elect ( grace ) and then sealed them ( put them above all laws ). they are no longer terrestrial bodies. they are now celestial bodies even though they dwell in the flesh. they will be spiritually alive now till the end of times. they will never die ( shut down ) spiritually anymore. so this is another verse that proves that the spirit of man abides forever while we shed our body in physical death roughly every 80 - 120 years ( genesis 6 vs 3 ) but the spirit abides forever. the spirit can be shut down in sin or it can be alive if you dwell in the word. this is the event describing the awaking of their spirit

matthew 27 vs 51- And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

SO IN SUMMARY- THAT VERSE IS NOT TALKING ABOUT PHYSICAL DEATH BUT SPIRITUAL DEATH AND THAT VERSE IS TALKING ABOUT THE YET TO BE SEALED ELECT WHO WERE WITH CHRIST AT THAT POINT IN TIME ( THE DISCIPLES ) WHO WOULD BE SEALED AND SPIRITUALLY RESSURECTED AFTER CHRIST DEATH
this wasn't bad

Reyginus: This one really bothers me. Can the pope be infallible?
reginus refering to your post on april 12 at 8:51, you said without impecability, infallibility is imposible! I responded by telling you that the above principle will render the bible fallible! Peter was pecable and yet he wrote 1st and 2nd peter and we all believes those words are infalliable. So my question is, you claim infalibility is imposible without impecability, at the same time you believe 1st and 2nd peter to be infallible while peter himself isn't impecable. Isn't that hypocrisy?

Lenny5000: The Bible is the word of GOD so if God is not the sole authority for Christians, who is ? The Pope? Priest? Bishop? Some of the questions people ask just for argument sake! I dont argue with people cos I believe it is childish and unproductive. I only discuss and debate with matured folks reason I dont post often here.. I am not here to bash Catholicism cos I am very very close to Catholics.. Also many Catholics attend the Church because they cant see themselves attending Pentecostal because of the Huge monetary Greed going on there, but these people have dropped many of the Catholic beliefs like Praying to Mary, Rosary, Bowing to Statues of Saints in the Church! Well at the end we are all free to make our own Choices.. I take God's word (Bible) as the Sole authority and not the Laws or words of men, cos these men are not even qualified in the first place.. God says "You should not make Statues that resembles anything in Heaven, Earth or beneath the earth and bow or worship it" And Catholics makes Statues of Jesus, Mary, Joseph...etc and Bow to them. Why on earth would I wanna accept anyone that Challenges God? And for what? Go to Italy and see, some of the people who make these Statues and Paintings dont even believe in GOD and I am supposed to bow to these stones?
*yawns again*
where does the bible say it is the sole authority for christian. I need book chaper and verse, not the long rant above.

ijawkid: no one is arguing here that our being sons of God is on the same level with that of Jesus....

the bane Here is that the same Father of Jesus is our Father and that Jesus is not that Father...i dont see how all your explanation wants to avoid that truth...

we(Jesus and all of us) all have one thing in common.....we all came from the Father...

ube do you agree or not?...

read Hebrews 2:11

New Living Translation (©2007)
So now Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters.

English Standard Version (©2001)
For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers,

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
For both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father; for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren,

the bolded solves all the wahala....

Jesus being the only begotten son of God and the firstborn of all creation does not change the fact that we and Jesus all share and have the same Father and that Jesus is not that Father....
nobody was denying that the father of Jesus is also our father, the point i'm making is that our sonship is different to that of christ so is his fatherhood.

Segeggs: yes, the sins of the catholic church.
i meant your personal sins.
Humans spend too much time looking for sin in the next person, the next family, the next community, church or organisation. The sin that affects you the most isn't that of the next person, family, community, church or organisation! The sin that affects you the most is your own sins. The ones you concieve in your heart, or/and thought about in your mind and/or worked with your hands and mouth. That is where you'll find the sins that either lead to repentance or condemnation, in yourself, within you...not in what some people did during d crusades or the inquisitions. The most interesting sins are the ones you committed locked up in a box, stood on top that box and declear the sins of others.
Peace. And goodluck searching for sins in the catholic church. My advise is, start by examing yourself.

Boomark: Bro am not the one that said what was written in john.
He said his Father is our Father, his God is our God. I don't know how else you want to put it so that that person he called his Father will no longer be our Father.

Where do you want to get our own Father from if it is not the same Father? How do you want to split that same person into two Fathers? Please tell us.
hehehehe,
i'm really surprised you seriously missed the message of those words "my father and thy father, my God and thy God". By using that phase Jesus was refering to God as His father in a unique and exclusive sense.
When he speaks of the father in heaven he either say "my father or "thy father" but never "our father" (note: the "our father" is not Jesus' prayer for himself, the the prayer of his discipies cf mt6:9). If you were a good student of sacred scripture you would have noticed this.
Wouldnt it have been more convenient to say i'm going to "our father and God"? But he doesn't say that, he clearly differentiate his sonship from ours he say "my father and your father" he even differentiate d dominion over us and over him when he say " to my God and your God" instead of "our God".
He was begotten not adopted jn1:14 say "and we saw his glory, the glory as it were of the only-begotten of the father". Jn1:18 even goes futher: "the only-begotten... Who is in the bosom of the father hath decleared him"

no one is "spilting" fathers! The message is clear, even when d father is our father, his fatherhood to Jesus is a unique, exclusive paternity thus d son is called the only/sole-begotten.
Peace

Interesting! I'm really missing stuff
striktlymi: Good morning Ij,

You really do need to understand Sacred scriptures. Christ taught us two lessons from that passage of Sacred scriptures. His perfect unity with the Father which is borne via his divine nature and our share in that union which he won for us via the cross.

This is the same confusion that comes when you and Boomark seem to suggest that we are Sons of God just like Christ is a Son of God. Bro Ij, this is erroneous! Christ's 'Sonship' was not won through the cross but was borne out of this Eternal union he has with the Father whereas ours is borne via the 'price' paid on the cross.

God has no equal cause there is only one God; not two or three or many Gods as you guys keep suggesting when you say that Christ is a Mighty God while the Father is the Almighty God. Frosbel 'unwittingly' brought out this passage:

Isaiah 40:25
King James Version (KJV)

25 To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.

which explains perfectly that when Isaiah gave this prophecy:

Isaiah 9:6
New International Version (NIV)

6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

he was referring to the one true God who does not entertain any comparison with anyone. If Christ can be given attributes that are reserved strictly for this one true God without incurring His wrath, then it says a lot about who Christ is and the reason why this is.

It is very clear through Sacred scriptures that Christ and the Father share one essence which he alluded to by saying that He and the Father are one. Going through Sacred scriptures only strengthens my convictions about the Trinity teaching.

Sentiments like this:

are not what guide my study of Sacred scriptures.
I Mr Ubenedictus hereby endorse this message.
Hehehehehe.
