Goshen360:it is good to know who invented your teaching it tells us whether or not you are reading into scripture and ultimately teaching heresy. you are pushing the 400 yrs old teaching of a man who was a lawyer by profession. |
Nodogragra4me:it is a pity that you are divorced from historic Christianity and instead hold a teaching invented 400 yrs ago that says the saints don't pray. the fact that your 400yrs old heresy says so doesn't make it true. I hold the fullness of the Christian faith as taught and practiced for 2000yrs for all times. your new age heresy doesn't count for much. You are deceived and it is a pity you can't see the errors of your man-made Church. |
Nodogragra4me:it is a lie you were told, it isn't true not even on Google. as for the Croats and Serb it has nothing to do with Protestant it was between Orthodox and Catholics. and it was the Serbs who committed genocide not the other way round. |
Ferisidowu:do you want to tell us those who taught such before Calvin? |
Nodogragra4me:lol. King henry was excommunicated and you believe that is enough justification for murdering Catholics. you like telling long stories but it isn't true! sir Thomas more was murdered even before the king was excommunicated, Bishop Fisher was killed before the excommunication, do you know what they were convicted of? certainly not trying to overthrow the King. their crime is that they said they do not believe the King is head of the Church. so many more were murdered because they said the King can't be head of the Church not any plan to overthrow the King. |
KingSango:they copied Catholic orders and drew inspiration from them in their organization... that doesn't make them Catholic groups |
KingSango:how does this group concern Catholics, united northern and southern Knight aren't Catholic groups. |
solite3:. this is called pride, you just feel like you have to lie about what Catholics believe even though you are clearly ignorant of it read up what Catholics believe. The one priesthood of Christ 1544 Everything that the priesthood of the Old Covenant prefigured finds its fulfillment in Christ Jesus, the "one mediator between God and men." 15 The Christian tradition considers Melchizedek, "priest of God Most High," as a prefiguration of the priesthood of Christ, the unique "high priest after the order of Melchizedek"; 16 "holy, blameless, unstained," 17 "by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are sanctified," 18 that is, by the unique sacrifice of the cross. 1545 The redemptive sacrifice of Christ is unique, accomplished once for all; yet it is made present in the Eucharistic sacrifice of the Church. The same is true of the one priesthood of Christ; it is made present through the ministerial priesthood without diminishing the uniqueness of Christ's priesthood: "Only Christ is the true priest, the others being only his ministers." 19 Two participations in the one priesthood of Christ 154 Christ, high priest and unique mediator, has made of the Church "a kingdom, priests for his God and Father." 20 The whole community of believers is, as such, priestly. The faithful exercise their baptismal priesthood through their participation, each according to his own vocation, in Christ's mission as priest, prophet, and king. Through the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation the faithful are "consecrated to be . . . a holy priesthood." 21 1547 The ministerial or hierarchical priesthood of bishops and priests, and the common priesthood of all the faithful participate, "each in its own proper way, in the one priesthood of Christ." While being "ordered one to another," they differ essentially. 22 In what sense? While the common priesthood of the faithful is exercised by the unfolding of baptismal grace --a life of faith, hope, and charity, a life according to the Spirit--, the ministerial priesthood is at the service of the common priesthood. It is directed at the unfolding of the baptismal grace of all Christians. The ministerial priesthood is a means by which Christ unceasingly builds up and leads his Church. @ bold why were u denying it? The whole nation of Israel were priests?,where did you get that from?you see how your ignorance of scripture is showing, THE FIRST KINGDOM OF PRIEST IN THE BIBLE WAS ISRAEL. Exodus 19:6 and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel." infact when peter called Christians a Royal priesthood he seem to be paraphrasing ex 19:6. yet that kingdom of priest were given ministerial priest to minister to them. THE NEW TESTAMENT ALSO RECORDS A PRIESTHOOD FOR MINISTERS, that doesn't surprise me because the old testament is a shadow and a type of the new testament. Romans 15:15-17 But on some points I have written to you very boldly by way of reminder, because of the grace given me by God [16] to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the offering of the Gentiles may be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. [17] In Christ Jesus, then, I have reason to be proud of my work for God. the word translated as priestly service is hierourgeo : Strong’s Concordance defines it as “to be a temple-worker , i.e., officiate as a priest (fig.): -- minister.” This classic (non-Catholic) reference work states: “to minister in the manner of a priest, minister in priestly service.” It also notes (from Joseph Thayer’s Greek-English Lexicon ) historical etymological definitions of “to be busied with sacred things; to be perform sacred rites” (from Philo), and “used esp. of persons sacrificing” (from Josephus). Baptist Greek scholar A. T. Robertson, in his famous work, Word Pictures of the New Testament (Nashville, Tennessee: Broadman Press, 1930; six volumes; under Romans 15:16; vol. 4, 520), provides the basic definition: “to work in sacred things, to minister as a priest.” Likewise, Marvin Vincent's Word Studies in the New Testament (four volumes; New York: Charles Scribner’s Sons, 1887; reprinted: Grand Rapids, Michigan: Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co., 1946; vol. III, 174) states, for the same passage: Ministering ( ierourgounta). Only here in the New Testament. Lit., ministering as a priest . Offering up (prosfora ). Lit., the bringing to, i.e., to the altar. Compare doeth service , John xvi. 2. Kittel’s Theological Dictionary of the New Testament defines it as: ‘to perform sacred or sacrificial ministry.’ In Josephus and Philo it always means “to offer sacrifice” and often has no object. (hierourgia means “sacrifice” and hierourgema the “act of sacrifice.”) so the ordained minister of the new testament officiated as a priest in fact the term is temple sacrificial priest. that isn't the first time the Bible uses the priesthood image in the new testament. st Paul also says there is an altar in the new testament, that altar is the Eucharist in 1cor 10 so just as the old is a type of the new so there is a high priest, a Royal priesthood, and a ministerial priesthood.... read your Bible. |
SalC:sal c, are you a witch or is it just the fullness of the holy spirit? |
JMAN05:it is unique, an unmarried man as Paul wrote is able to put God first while the married guy is torn in two worlds. there is still corruption but it isn't as the time when we had married bishops. married men may be rev fr in eastern Catholic Church and in few western Church |
analize701:I am here, just don't have much time |
samuelezekiel:then we agree |
solite3:a mother is someone who conceive and give birth to a child, Mary conceived and gave birth to God the son |
KingSango:sorry for you ignorance. a Freemason is automatically excommunicated from the Catholic Church, you are just ignorant of simple facts. the Knight Templar was a military order of monks used during the crusades to safeguard Jerusalem from Muslims and other Christian lands. the King of France coveted their property and later made up crimes so as to execute them and collect their wealth... they were largely innocent men who were wrongly murdered for political gain. stop romancing conspiracy theories |
Nodogragra4me:lol. it is okay for Protestant kings to murder Catholics but it is wrong if Catholics kill Protestant, sorry to say but you are a double speaking hypocrite. |
Nodogragra4me:how does this answer the fact that john wasn't imprisoned |
solite3:stop teaching Nestorianism. please do well to research before you come here and propound Nestorius's heresy. Mary gave birth to a baby not a lifeless flesh, that baby she gave birth to was God and man, she didn't give birth to the man first and wait for the God part of him to come. she gave birth to God incarnate |
Nodogragra4me:because no qualification gets one into heaven, it is grace that opens that door that is why Catholics never wary in asking God for grace and asking the prayer of all Gods people. |
Goshen360:the first to interpret scriptures that way is Calvin, he practically invented the teachings you are defending. you think it is scriptural because someone 400 yrs ago read that meaning into those passages and claimed that made his theories biblical. you no sabi Calvin but you were taught his theories and told it was biblical. |
solite3:are you the one arrogant enough to pontificate about my own belief? stop assuming about issues you are ignorant of. the Catholic Church teaches the priesthood of all believers, that is a fact, that you are ignorant of that fact doesn't change it. we have ministerial priest because the same God who revealed that we are all priest also commissioned others from our midst to serve as ministers of his word and mysteries. Just as God made the whole of isreal a kingdom of priests but appointment the sons of Aaron to minister to that kingdom of priests. |
Prosper123:the Catholics didn't remove any commandment. we have the complete commandments including the one about graven images. don't lie about things you're ignorant of. |
jnrbayano:it is very easy okpuno isn't far from awka market |
SalC:lol, I had to give him a location this time...bayano doesn't care much about someone trying to be anonymous. but I give him an A for persistence. |
Goshen360:lol the stuff you are crying about is sola fide and sola gratia, and you seem to explain them like Calvin |
petra1:yes that is the point |
joshnes:maybe the word preserve let him down, but he does have a point. Jesus told the parable of the vine and he told us that the guy without works AKA fruits will be cut of, which means the branch the continues in good work is assured of not been cut off. in that parable works is presented as a test by which people are cut off or remain in the vine. |
enshy:the God who created you without you will not save you without your cooperation |
Goshen360:lol, Goshen and Calvinism |
Tankotanko:weytin concern Catholics for this issue. please note "Also, Catholics are under no obligation to pay a certain percentage of their income to the church as a tithe. In the early history of our church, the priests depended upon the generous support of congregations for their sustenance. This custom was based on the New Testament instruction: Jesus taught the apostles to depend upon charity when He sent them on a mission (see Matthew 10:10)" the tithe problem is a Protestant one, don't robe Catholics to your palava |
Bidobado:off topic. it seems your aim is just to bash Catholics, you'll prefer to bash Catholics rather than to address the solid point the Pope made. |
babestell:lol no beat sumbori oh. |
jnrbayano:okpuno awka, it is the only parish around pope John Paul seminary and the retreat center next to spiritual year. |
