Christianity Etc › Re: Should Be Possible To Practice Christianity Without Going To Church by Ubenedictus(m): 11:05am On Nov 26, 2017

What do you think?

Churches (not all tho) have become no more than a circus, a place to feel good, a place to get cheap entertainment (especially if your Church has enough money to spend on the choir department), and a place to gossip about events happening around in the society. Well, we throw in the Word sometimes, but strictly from the G.O.'s perspective....

It should be possible to sit in one's home and practice one's Christianity without having to subscribe to the sedate hypocrisy...
home alone Christianity is a toxic brand of Christianity, Christianity isn't just a personal religion, it is a communal one that is why Jesus himself established his Church and made his apostles servants and leaders of same.

this assembly of the called out ones, the ecclesia is a visible reality established by Christ through his apostles to proclaim his word, celebrate his truth, mentor his children and bring them to participate in the life of God and into the inheritance of their salvation. that is God's will for every Christian which is why the apostle Paul instructs us not to neglect the assembly of God people the Church.

That very Church Christ established 2000 yrs ago through his apostles ministry has continued to exist since from 33 ad, to 100ad, 200ad, 400ad, 700ad, 1000 ad and even today Nov 2017. That assembly that Christ himself promised to be with for all time, which he promised the gates of hell will never prevail against... that assembly still continues today preaching the gospel as it has been taught all through the centuries from ancient times. Look around, find that assembly and serve God in his Church.

God bless you on your journey.

Bible passage please.
For the inner sanctuary he made a pair of cherubim out of olive wood, each ten cubits high. One wing of the first cherub was five cubits long, and the other wing five cubits—ten cubits from wing tip to wing tip. The second cherub also measured ten cubits, for the two cherubim were identical in size and shape. The height of each cherub was ten cubits. He placed the cherubim inside the innermost room of the temple, with their wings spread out. The wing of one cherub touched one wall, while the wing of the other touched the other wall, and their wings touched each other in the middle of the room. He overlaid the cherubim with gold. On the walls all around the temple, in both the inner and outer rooms, he carved cherubim, palm trees and open flowers. He also covered the floors of both the inner and outer rooms of the temple with gold. For the entrance to the inner sanctuary he made doors out of olive wood that were one fifth of the width of the sanctuary. And on the two olive-wood doors he carved cherubim, palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid the cherubim and palm trees with hammered gold. In the same way, for the entrance to the main hall he made doorframes out of olive wood that were one fourth of the width of the hall. He also made two doors out of juniper wood, each having two leaves that turned in sockets. He carved cherubim, palm trees and open flowers on them and overlaid them with gold hammered evenly over the carvings.

the younger lady cannot lay claim to be the mother of an older lady nothing like reincarnation.
God the father didn't give birth to Jesus rather the relationship.

@ bold you have contradicted yourself. Which means Mary is only the mother of the Jesus in the flesh not as God and when Jesus died that relationship ended.
if either was God in the flesh then the younger lady can give birth to the eternal God.

stop teaching Nestorianism, there are not two type of Jesus, from conception Jesus was both God and man and Mary gave birth to him with those natures together.

What a thread.

I have realized that some do place tradition/history over the bible.

All I know is the bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct. If it can't be proven from the little scriptures we have then its not real .

If you don't follow biblical principles then you are wrong.

Its that simple.
is there anywhere the Bible claims to be the final authority on rule and conduct?

The state? You mean the pagan Rome in conjunction with papacy? Since when has it become the role of the state to censor religious beliefs? Wrongful translation of the Bible, like changing the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday? Justifying the worship of images? Tell me who misinterprets the bible better than the Catholic Church?
actually till the 18th century it was the rôle of the state to support certain religious beliefs and sanction others,. even in biblical times, it was the job of the kings included supporting Judaism and stopping other religion... it is so even after Christianity became the religion of the empire, it was the duty of Christian kings to support the Christian religion and merely tolerate others. Even Protestant kings supported Protestant churches and had no problem dealing with Catholics. The Catholic Church didn't tamper with scriptures even the Sabbath laws are found in Catholic Bibles unlike you Protestants who removed 7 books from the old testament and condemned so new testament just to forward their false teaching.

It's a common knowledge that the followers of Christ were first c alled Christians in Antioch (Acts 11:26). Yes, bible simply means "book" which is exactly what it is, a book.
yet there isn't a single place where a follower of Christ called himself a Christian nor is the Bible mentioned in the Bible.

Yes, seeing the way most of the churches were compromising with pagan doctrines, they must Catholics grin

so which Church was uncompromised ?

To apologise is to make the satanic doctrine of infallibility useless ...Vatican can't apologies....Unless they do away with the satanic and blasphemous doctrine of the infallibility of a man who in some cases was helped by olosho to that office

Some popes were put in office by their mistresses-six by a mother-and-daughter pair of prostitutes. Theodora of Rome (wife of a powerful Roman Senator) was most successful at this strategy. She manipulated Roman politics by exploiting the fact that her daughter, Marozia, was the mistress of Pope Sergius III. Known as "the mistress of Rome," Marozia did not hesitate at murder to accomplish her ambitions. Theodora herself was mistress to two ecclesiastics whom she maneuvered in quick succession, after Sergius's death, onto "Peter's throne"-popes
infallibility only concerns doctrine, apology concerns evil some Catholics may have done.

doctrine is infallible doesn't mean some don't act against those right doctrine.

when you wish to accuse people who lived 800 yrs ago, present an unbiased source from 800 yrs ago not hearsay.

A very recent one is the croats and Serbs ...The same issue made the eastern orthodox church to break away from the catholic church

Get it right ..,the only time the church mobilised against Islam was in Jerusalem and after driving out the Muslims they turned against the Jews and other Christians in Jerusalem and incinerated them in thousands

The catholic church is in practice, the gate of hell against Christianity
the crusade was against Muslims both d 1, 2,3 and the minor crusade like that of Lepanto, the death of Jews were those who fought with the Muslims, the Orthodox Christian in Jerusalem weren't killed.

many things contributed to the Orthodox schism but infallibility wasn't there, there was the filioque and various political cum cultural issues.

The Vatican is the only 'country' without a body of law makers but the pope ...No one knows her budget nor approved same but the pope ... It is the most secretive government known to man and yet Jesus was open and thought everything to others
the holy see is different from the Vatican state even though both are headed by the Pope, the holy see refers to the head quarter of the Church the other is more of a sovereign geographic location with it own laws and ability to enter international agreement and send diplomats.

the budget of the Vatican and the holy see is actually non secretive, it is handled by the Secretariat of the economy and an economic council, they approve the budget. it is also published in newspaper, you can even Google it. the net income and net expenditure and even deficit. it is not good to lie about things you are ignorant of.

He is a Rev Fr. And it is not my first encounter here with him.

My collections on the catholic church is enormous so I write from factual accounts from fellow catholics who remained so till death

The catholic church is actually the gate of hell against Christianity
you are mistaken again.

Whatever evil is perpetuated by ministers, the Church makes sure records are kept, that is why you have an idea what happened 800yrs ago because the Church kept record. there is no canon that prevents a Catholic from reading factual history.

Constantine didn't paganize Christianity,he tolerated it and legalised it.

the Catholic Church is the Church established by Christ from ancient time, I'm not surprised to find ministers who did wrong things, to err is human but even though those evils, God has kept and preserved his Church while sanctifying those within her. even Jesus chose a Judas, I am not surprised more appeared through the centuries just as Jesus said they would, but the gates of hell never prevailed.

Going by their sizes and income capacity, you will discover that their charity have dwarfed catholic just in less than 30 years. Big fish should fetch big wood and small fish, small wood. When tithe and offering are paid to smaller churches, it becomes scam .does the money catholic church spend drop from heaven? It is only in catholic church I saw a dead man being tasked to pay up accumulated dues through his sorrowful surviving family member before he could be buried. should it be other churches which don't do that, NL would be raining curses on pastors. you can't do God's work without money. No church compel people to pay tithes,it is a matter of choice. It is the duty of the pastors to preach it. I can't live without it. If the reverend stops it,I will go and pay it to other churches
Catholic Church is 2000yrs old, 1.1 billion members.

I didn't look down on ur churches I simply responded a post that says the pope is a new comer in charity... that is silly.

the last time I checked the Catholic Church doesn't have dues talkless of compelling dues...,only voluntary organization within the Nigerian Catholic church levy agreed upon dues, and that money doesn't go to the Church, it is used within those organizations. if a member is celebrating or late and has lapsed in his dues the organization may ask the priest talk about it with the family but a priest forbidden from denying any sacrament or burial on the basis of money

You know a doctrine is false when it is invented by a man over 1600 years after Christ.

Once saved always saved is an evolving doctrine invented by John Calvin in the 16th century, and taught by his adherents as reformed theology. it is a theological invention, invented by a lawyer who thought of salvation in purely legal terms.

the totality of the teaching is called TULIP.

T for total depravity
U for unconditional predestination or election
L for limited atonement
I for irresistible grace
P for assured perseverance of the saints.

when you add these 5 weird teachings of Calvin together you get the teaching called once saved always saved.

There aboriginal Ijaws in Edo State (Gelegele axis), Onfo State (Arogbo, Ilaje axis) Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom (Obolo-Ndpni axis).

Why won't Olodiama in Edo State have their own traditional ruler?

It is like saying because the Ikeerris are majority in Port Harcourt, the Abuloma or Okirika speaking people should be under the Eze Apara Rebisi.

The Gelegele or Olodiama people being Ijaws cannot be under the Oba of Benin. Oba of Benin should rule over Beni or Edo speaking people and let Ijaws have their own king.

The IYC is on the matter. They have sent a message to the Edo State goverment not to mess with the Olodiama community, and also congratulated the Pere of Olodiama who is recognised in the Ijaw traditional council.

The Edo State government dominated by Benin people do not have army or police. How do they want to face Ijaw people who control majority of Tue militants. Even the Federal Government is unable to win any war against Ijaw people. The best the government does is negotiate which necessitated the Niger Delta Amnesty. The Federal government had to succumb to the fact that the army cannot subdue the Ijaws and let Tompolo be.

ImagineTompolo, Ateke, Asari Dokubo sending IIjaw boys to take over Edo state, even the Oba of Benin will run from his palace.

One thing we have learnt is not to mess with Ijae Youth Council and militants. Benin people will not be able to stand Ijaws in any communal crisis. It should he avoided.

Peace is priceless. The Edo State government should pursue peace and do away with modern slavery. Let Ijaw people have their king. Why should Benin king rule over Ijaws. It is like the same thing happening in Ilorin where an Emir is ruling over Yoruba people or in the North where Fulani emirs rule over indigenous people.

Crisis loading in Edo state. They should dialogue and pursue peace.
a king isn't just king of his people, he is king of the land.

ovia lg is the immediate territory of the Oba of Benin, you can't just manufacture a king where there was none just because the state government want to develop the place.

Edo people have been in ondo for years and yet they didn't manufacture a new title for themselves, you won't find an enogie in ile ife, why will the ijaws manufacture a king out of thin air? that is trouble making.

ijaws have been in Edo for centuries they came with the water and populated riverine area yet they were all under the oba because the oba is overlord in those lands, now obaseki wants to build a seaport in gelegele they decided to crown a king in the obas backyard.

shouting militants etc will not help no one has monopoly of violence, you won't intimidate the oba in his backyard by threatening him with militant. you can't crown a king in someone's territory. stop manufacturing kingship were there was none.
