skydancer: What you are looking for is simple. When the poor widow gave all she had in the synagogue, Christ said she gave the most. That single comment recognizes that she did indeed give to God.
Concerning the Bible passage you quoted. If you do this, you are also right. But remember that there are bachelors too. And don't forget the verses 27 to 29
Those last parts obviously mean that we should recognize the established priests. Abraham in his own time, recognized generously the priest of God very generously who blessed him greatly. Don't forget that this same Deutronomy was also watered down because of the people. Priests these days don't live the priests of the old days where one can comfortably say they do not have enough. Instead they go around in Flashy cars and buy jets. This is of course frowned against in the Catholic Church. even the passage you quoted clearly says the tithe for priest happens once every 3 years, and it isn't for the priest alone but be for both the levites the foreigners, the widows and orphans |

babestell: Good morning all, happy feast of immaculate conception
You guys need to clap for me. I went for confession yesterday from work and some dude on the queue called me over and started advising me on how its wrong for me to wear trousers for confession. that I am a woman. that he is only trying to help me. I was tempted to abuse him thoroughly, infact i wanted to take his head and hit the chair. I was already reaching towards him with anger in my heart and soul, opening my mouth to curse his generations past and present when the Holy Spirit broke through and calmed me down.
It has to have been the Holy Spirit because at that moment i was seeing red and i just wanted blood. But i remembered a conversation on how a lot of people have not accepted change going on around them in the world and then i calmed down.
God saved me from myself
Have a nice day no vex too much, the issue of dressing to Church is touch and go in many parishes both in Africa, and even outside our continent. Many will argue vigorously and with good reasons that a formal outfit is best for Church as it reflects the dignity of worship...others don't mind either way.... It is not usually a question of accepting change... I guess that guy has sisters who wear trousers... it is usually phrased as a question of what is most appropriate. There is also a problem when people inadvertently set themselves up as a 1man advice giving committee, such persons end up passing judgement on issue they are not fully aware of...rash judgement is what sets in. my parish in the east have a formal dressing outlook most times but from time to time like during stations of the Cross and confessions where most people jump out of work just to make it to Church you'll find a good number on their trousers and body hugging shirt, nobody bats an eye because you'll have to understand where their coming from. some times it isn't prudent to throw advice... maybe I'll keep this in mind. |

babestell: Good Afternoon all.
I used to be a member here.
So Italo lost his dad a few months ago don't know if anyone posted it here.
All has been well with me. Even though i must confess I have been lukewarm in the practice of my faith. Its become mechanical so to say. Yes I go morning mass, regular confession but that deep burning desire to love God is gone, plus i dont pray or read my bible or say my rosary as often. i think that makes me officially a sinner.
My mechanic who i liked so much died on 4th of November and i didn't find out till 30th. so much for liked so much. My junior brother has been struggling at school and i have blocked him. But if i die now there will always be that regret so i better unblock him.
Also since i am still unmarried, and 35 is almost here, i have decided to get pregnant. its so funny that there are many candidates who want to help you get preggy but don't want to marry you. Because the process of getting preggy is a sin, i guess i am going to be spiritually lukewarm for another year.
So yeah....now you cant say you dont know whats up in babestell's life you ARE a member here. ...eternal rest grant unto them O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them... we have to do more here to remember ourselves. I almost commented on the updates you shared above but it seems God is telling me "shut up uben, you have no idea. she is my child, my beloved and I myself will lead her." that is how I know you'll be alright and decisions and circumstances will work in your favour. be at peace. |

My mother's father was the Jagun-Osin chief - I don't know what that means till today. During Orisala's festival, rain usually disperse people towards the end of the festival when those songs are sung. You hear such lines as 'heavy rain destroyed elebure's house, and he became homeless.' Oloodua would do certain initiation for the king at crowning and must not meet the king again till death. interesting enough there is a priest in Bini who plays a part in the coronation process and after that won't see the king ever again, they can't even be in the same village. |

liohan: The problem with Nigerians especially the educated ones is that history seems to be a non-existent event. First, that folklore is a made up one. No Benin man believes that shit. Benin likely migrated from the Noks, many of their art and metal works show that. Then the other issue here, which is whether Ijaw residence have the right to constitute a ruler over their domain. Legitimately, there is nothing wrong with that. Gele-Gele might not be Benin land. Because at the height of its power Benin Kingdom extend to present day Togo. Gele-Gele, The region around Edo, Delta and Kogi States were vassal states to Benin with many of them claiming origin from Benin. Whether the Ijaws in Gele-Gele migrated to the region or they are aborigines. Living there for centuries have made them owners of the land. Note that it is this same issue that is the bone of contention between Israel and Palestine, the former argues that they lived in the land before the Arabs and the Turks expelled them from the land. Besides, where would people who have lived in an area for centuries mass-evacuate to? Is it that they should not have a leader over themselves because of a traditional folk tale that is centuries old? Bleep that! Benin should also tell Lagos not to have an Oba because Lagos was once a colony. After all this we should know that except Benin becomes a country, all lands belongs to Nigeria. Lands that have no direct ownership except on the mouths of folk tale tellers, should not be an avenue for a bigger group to lord over a smaller one. legitimately you can't wake up one morning and declare yourself king on another mans land. |

The point is bowing down to a carved image,, take note of the word carved a d image. The ark is not an image, it is said to even contain the tablet for the ten commandments, the rod of Aaron and the manna they ate in the desert. the ark also has images of the cherubim. The Bible also says to bow before the temple, any body who has read the old testament knows the temple contains images., carved images. it is not the posture or the images that constitute worship, worship comes from the heart. |

brocab: Did you write this all for me? Are you mistaken, the bible was translated from the Latin language to every language across every nation. 1611 version.. You had named all these other bibles,to start some sort of an silly argument that you know yourself, they were written in other languages, that half the world couldn't understand, until the 1611 version was written in all languages. sorry you are very ignorant, the 1611 version was in English only, I.e KJV was not in all languages. there were already bibles in different kinds of languages all through the world, these languages were vernacular to many countries and a translation in the ligua franca common to all of Europe. So 99% of all educated people all had bibles in a language they can read. This wouldn't have happened, if the Catholic Church wasn't secretive about their own agenda's. [color=#000099]Why is it Uben, you always seem to come at me, I am not here to argue with you, I am only here to tell the truth. Anything about everything, that history had said about the past, is written everywhere, but still you are trying to prove me wrong about every thing. The story about the Catholic Church, they weren't to interested in these other earlier bibles written back in time, the answer to this is easy, these old country manuscripts bibles were written in a different language, the Catholic Church didn't feel threaten by these bibles, only because they knew it took only the few to understand them in their own country, "Plus no-one in other countries could understand the different languages anyway, back then it was rare to see a child in school, let alone to learn bible literature , "unless the parents were rich, and a child could learn these different languages elsewhere. To be honest try reading different languages back then is trying to understand the Latin language in Church now. Without the right teachings who can understand these many different languages from different countries. The 1611 was written because they knew the Catholic Church disagreed with the Word of God, can't you see, the Church still refuses God's Word today, it was only the certain few that was taught who knew how to understand the scriptures, they themselves took their stand for Christ. Can't you see, the manuscripts were written for all man kind, it wasn't their to be hidden away by Rome, these men risked their lives for you and I, so we could share in God's blessings, just as well as everybody else who chooses to believe in Christ. Prayer opens doors, and God opened up a doorway so we can enjoy His Word and live the way He expected us to live.. Praise the Lord for evermore. Think about it, would you do this to help save a nation in Christ, Uben? nobody hid bibles that is a conspiracy theory your Protestant sites told you. apart from bibles in ligua franca of Europe, there were bibles in the vernacular, in German, Slav, etc. but the fact is anyone who could read at all could read Latin. there was hardly any need for the so called 1611 version |

Why then did your church accept such ridiculous message that a brown pirceofcloth can get one into heaven the man who received the scapular revelation is called st Simon stock, pope John xxii was never canonized by anyone. the Church doesn't teach that a piece of cloth gets you to heaven, she allows one to teach a "belief of Mary's aid and prayerful assistance for wearers of the Brown Scapular that live and die in the state of grace, observe chastity according to their state in life, and live a life of prayer and penitence". so you have to live righteously and die in righteousness and in chastity to get to heaven and this life and participation in the prayers of the Carmelite through the scapular also means those in heaven will keep cheering for u and praying with you esp Mary. I am surprised you think the Church teaches that a Brown cloth take u automatically to heaven. |
