@OP I am single and happy. But it has nothing to do with my relationship status. I am happy because happiness flows within me. If you are not happy within you, you can't give happiness to another person when you get in a relationship. |
Let's talk about jungle justice for a sec. For all the people supporting the reprisal attacks on the people of Aluu, I need you to ask yourself some questions. Do you assume that the people present at the scene of the despicable act represent the entire Aluu community? Do you think that everyone in Aluu would have supported the killing of those boys? Do you think it is right and just for the entire people of Aluu to suffer for the crime of a few? Is it fair if all suffer for the sins of a few? Would it not be better if the perpetrators of the crime are brought to book for their crimes? Finally, How are you any different from those 12 wicked people if you too go out there and kill or harm innocent people in anger. I am not going to pretend that I do not feel the same anger against Aluu people but our response to anger and other savage emotions are what differentiates us from animals. We need to think these things through. That is the only way we can address the real issues coming out of this. That on both cases, the police watched as innocent people were molested and killed, should be a real concern to everyone. The same people who are paid, from our tax money, to protect us, would gladly stand idly while one of us is hacked to death. That is the worst part. We pay taxes so that the government would protect us. Even thieves deserve government protection. Yet, our police men watch while those boys were killed and innocent people robbed. My point is that the government is indirectly responsible and should also be held accountable. That will provide better closure than robbing innocent people who did not know anything about the matter. Assuming the police is bad. This sort of thing should bring to focus, the security of students living in off-campus areas. Security in those areas should consist both local indigenes and school security personnel to protect the interest of all stakeholders. These things should be done across all universities because as long as the government has built a school in your locality, and you are benefiting from that local economics, you have to act in the interest of the stakeholders.... ![]() Mehnn I don tire. I have work to do abeg. I am disappointed in the country but we the people suppose fit dey use our sense na. We are not cows. What moral basis do we have to condemn our leaders if we, the followers, dey act like malu at the slightest instance. We have a looonnnggggggggggg way to go. |
Mynd_44: Did this guy just say being in his girl's arms makes him feel safe?Waiter: A translation to yoruba for this brother right here please. Op: Coming Up! |
Odinaka00: One day pesin go die becuz of bad news.....tufiakwa 4 dz countryNna eh... I don't listen to news anymore o. Too much bad news can mess with your psyche. |
This is ridic.ulous. This is ins.ane. Why are we so quick to destroy? We cannot build yet we destroy at every opportunity. That is just sad! There are a million and one things that could have been done with those motorcycles. They could have been auctioned. They could have been distributed to poor Lagos State workers who have little means for transport etc. It doesn't take a very intelligent mind to give you ideas on finding a better use for those bikes; even an illiterate beggar on the street could have come with a valid suggestion. yet we destroy! Destroy something we do not have the expertise to even assemble. This is just sad!! Not to mention the moral perspective. In world class organisations, when an employee violates business conduct, one of the disciplinary measures could be suspension without pay. Why?? because you never want to throw the baby away with the water (or however it is said). That should be the approach by the government. A government with vision should be able to see the big picture. If you seize the man's okada for 3 months and return it to him, it is enough punitive measure to discourage him from committing that crime again. Why do you have to destroy the bikes?? Lagos has a huge transport problem and no one in his right mind will say that these bikes are not contributing to the alleviation of the transport challenges. yet they destroy and destroy. Our government must desist from treating people like animals. I dont't even know the legal backing for this. Because they are poor, illiterate and helpless, we treat them like trash. How many cars have been crushed or is it only the okadas that are disobeying traffic laws.... Not to talk of the 3,000 who have been rendered jobless, the families they feed, the children they send to school, the fuel they buy, the mechanics that service their bikes, the dudes that sell spare parts to them, their hopes and dreams.... Can these guys ever see the big picture or maybe they just don't care. Sh.it!!! |
Myne White: 16, 17, 19, 21, 25?Sorry oo... You can't be that intelligent if you blame your husband for your woes. Blaming others for your shortcomings is a past time for the weak minded. Once advice- Take Charge!! |
Mo gbe! And people wonder why they say Nigerian graduates are ill-educated. It's unbelievable that many people have read this so called "apology" and are berating Tee-Mac for apologizing. Na wa ooo |
The truth is bitter and difficult to swallow. But once said cannot be taken back. Awo's sentiments echoes that of most yorubas even in the present day. Same can be said of Achebe's words. We are all making noise about this issue but the truth is that we all know where we are with each other; how we feel about this unholy union. We do not share same ideals, culture or anything. All we share is this name called Nigeria. No matter how hard people try to indulge in this mass delusion, the truth will always pop up now and then ( whether by Achebe or elections etc) until we address the real issues. What is that truth? " As for my igbo brothers, I suggest we su.ck it up and stop whining. In war sh.it happens. If the tables were turned, we probably would do the same thing (or should). Just be conscious and never leave your fate in the hands of another person. Take your fate into your own hands. God will judge us all. |
Another thing I wonder about is "why is the dude being prosecuted in South Africa"? Since the crime was committed in Nigeria, shouldn't he be extradited and prosecuted according to our laws? Abi don't we have extradition agreement with South Africa? Maybe any lawyer in the house can explain. |
DANILSA: LET ME CORRECT YOU, I SUPPORT AMNESTY AND STRUGGLE FOR BETTERMENT OF NIGER DELTA, BUT MR VASCEY I DONT SUPPORT TERRORISM. THE REAL MILITANTS DONT KILL WOMEN,CHILDREN AND CIVILIAN, THE ARE NOT OWARDS LIKE BOKO, THEY COME OUT TO CHALLENGE THE MILITARY(GOVERNMENT) AND INTERNATIONAL FIRMS DESTROYING THEIR FUTURE. OKAH IS A DAM TERRORIST.Yes I agree with you. But you must understand that if this is the case then the government is contradicting itself. Henry Okah was, supposedly, the leader of MEND, a known Niger Delta militant group. Would you now classify the leader as a terrorist and the group as militants; prosecute the leader and grant amnesty to the group? It reeks of some hidden agenda by the government. It is not really clear. And don't get it twisted. In the cause of their struggle, the militants did have some civilian casualties. So they are not exactly saints and heroes. Again!! Not like I care what they do with the guy or not. It's probably all politics. |
DANILSA: SECONDED I CANT EVEN DIFFERENTIATE TRUTH FROM LIES IN THIS CASEHold on Mister!! Questions is "Is he a militant or a terrorist?" If he's the former, then he should also benefit from the amnesty program- forgive, forget and pay them some good money. After all they have another phase coming up. Ten years from now,ten year old kids will probably still be requesting for amnesty phase 15. Now, if he's the latter then... , well I couldn't care less.Actually I don't care about all these political shenanigans. I wonder why I spent my time writing this. |

Claus: I use the term war between brothers metaphorically and also borrowed from the title of the book "The Brothers War" written about the Biafran war.Dude I generally agree with your posts except for your use of the word "Brothers". Whether used metaphorically, literally or otherwise, it is absolutely not applicable. We have never been brothers and will never be brothers. We are simply "fellow Nigerians", "country men", "fellow citizens" but never "BROTHERS". Never!! |
alex_101: I knew this will make it to the front page,,,,the magic word BIAFRAPlease can you provide the link to this thread? |
The dude is a social scientist. His conclusion and inferences might be true for the west but not for Nigeria. Social science often deals with the nature and culture of a group of people and behaviours surely differ from one group to another. For example, people in our part of the world frown deeply at divorce, whether by a wealthy woman or otherwise. I can even go as far as saying that there is a social stigma/perception attached to being a divorcee. Anyway, until a similar study is carried out in our part of the world, I can not agree with their assertions. Personally, I love me a career woman. |
Lord Have Mercy! How did this happen? |
Brother please do not be discouraged by the negative comments here. If what you say is true, then I encourage you to do it. You can attach a theme to it to generate publicity i.e a walk for peace or walk against corruption. You will need media coverage and extensive physical training. You will be surprised at the impact one man can have if you set your mind to it. This is the kind of thing one man can do to unite a nation. I could go on and on. In summary, it is a great idea if you can sell it. Good luck! |
SimonAndal: I can't even understand one word of what the OP wrote. I feel ashamed of our education system.Dude!!! It is folks like you that give our educational system a bad name. Like someone rightly said, you need a copy of Brighter Grammar. |

This is simply the sun newspaper model of sensationalism without content. Kudos Nairaland. |
I think a lot of people are missing the point. My understanding of this issue is summarized as follows: 1. Oil in Nigeria is exclusively owned federal government. 2. The FGN granted Oil Prospecting Licenses to Orient Oil Plc. Of the available 916 licences in the Anambra basin, they were granted 915. The Anambra basin is not located in Anambra alone but also in Enugu and Kogi as well. 3. When they drill wells and produce oil, the revenue will go exclusively to the federal government in line with the revenue sharing formula stipulated by the law for oil discovered on the inland basin. 4. It does not matter where Orient drills their oil as long as they pay the statutory taxes and royalty to the Federal Government. 5. If you want dividend of the said oil revenue, 2 things you can do- a. Invest in Orient Plc and be paid dividend as a shareholder. b. Ensure that the government recognizes your state as an oil producing state so that you can get your share of the revenue. How do you ensure you are an oil producing state? Ensure that oil wells prospected in your state can produce in commercial quantities large enough for the government to recognize your state as an oil producing state. Then you will begin to eat from the cake of the oil producing states. 6. I am from Anambra and I have mixed feelings about oil discovery in my state. Politics in Anambra has always been a do or die affair.I wonder and fear at the level to which that their political gangstarism will escalate now that oil is in the mix. It is only in Africa that natural resources are a means to oppression and not a blessing. This is only day one and the swords have been drawn. May God help us. |

Billyonaire: Get prepaid meter and you will pay for just what you use, if not you will receive crazy estimated bill. You wont even have to pay monthly, just recharge your card when it expires. By the way, none of those PHCN bill will be half of what you guys spend on generators including servicing and oiling. The challenge with this is that PHCN is regulating the issuance of the prepaid meter and will only do so at their convenience. I had been requesting for the prepaid meter for over a year but was always told it was not available. Funny thing is that my friend works at the company that supplies this prepaid meter to PHCN and he told me that the machines were readily available. Unfortunately PHCN officials will not like to issue them because the old meter gives them room to manipulate and give customers astronomic bills for units which they did not consume. Recently, they announced they were going to phase out the old meter and supply every household with prepaid meters but this is almost 3 months down the line and I am still waiting. Mind you, I live is Surulere and not some faraway village. |
jude33084: No need to ask if u r educated because as long as u can browse and read u r intellegent. Your bill is N25000 and prepaid single phase is N25000, Nna na wah o!Forget the education bit. Enlighten me please. Is there any reason why you think it is right for me to pay N25,000 on estimated consumption of 1,750 units which I did not consume. You mention that prepaid single phase is N25,000. don't know about that because I still use the old meter. But please, tell me, maybe you can help me make more sense out of it. Awaiting your response. |
I stay in a 3 bedroom apartment and mine just increased from 16,000 to 25,000. We had earlier complained about the 16,000 to the marketer only for the bill to be increased again to 25,000. Mind you, the flat is strictly residential with occupants who spend the day at the office. I am already sending my complaint. |

MOD! What's with you blocking my comment on https://www.nairaland.com/1045576/beautify-premises-go-jail-fashola. I did not use any harsh words other than 'stupid'. That is my opinion and I am sticking with it. In all these years on Nairaland,I have seen a lot of words far worse than "stupid" so whoever blocked my comment should unblock it. |
