0. Lord_Reed(m):
All our equipment have a six (6) month manufacturer's warranty.

Is there anything wrong with the above sentence?

Well it depends. If all your equipment were made by the same manufacturer, then it's okay.

However, if they were made by different manufacturers, then your sentence should be " All our equipment have a six (6) month manufacturers' warranty".

Just my two cents. Ciao

PoliticsRe: Army Illegally Demolishing Civilian Houses In Iyana Oba Axis by vascey(op): 9:43pm On Dec 21, 2011
A court action has been instituted but the army responded by saying they would first finish the demolishion before going to court and that is exactly what they are doing. However I do not have the details of the filing at the court.
The buildings that were demolished are not shanties neither were they built on any drainages. If infact this were the case, there are appropriate civil authorities who have been charged with the reponsibility of correcting such mishaps. The estate is one of many along the Iyana Iba- Egbeda express, all approved by the Lagos state government. The army barack near Volts has a boundry but that boundry has been exceeded by the army. The Lagos state government also has a boundry, clearly marked, which is being demolished by the army going by the current demolishion. What is happening is just a clear example of the army's lawlessness- they care about no one and answer to one expect theis commanders. Who is going to protect the common man please?

As to whether everyone has a C of O, I cannot answer that (especially as I do not live there) but I can tell you that the process of getting a C of O is one that takes a long time especially when you buy the land from the traditional owners of the land as is the case in many parts of Nigeria.

Many of the people who stay there, whose houses have been demolished have been living in that estate for a long time. I hope someone can stop the military from illegally destroying people's homes. Know any one in the Lagos state government who can help please send their contact to obidavid37 at rockemail.com.

I am an ardent lover of the word of Martin Niemöller (1892) which I have quoted below:
First they came for the communists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.

As I type this, the military is currently demolishing civilian's houses at Peace estate at Iyana Iba. The exercise started as the military aimed to demolishing houses encroaching on their perimeter (30 meters from the barack walls). However, this has turned to a show a brute force as the military has now gone much farther than their area (more than 100 meters) and into the settlement of helpless civilians without any provocation. I have no pictures yet but I tell you this because I have verified the information 100%. Please anyone that has links to the army or their superior commanders should please help inform them of the excesses of their personnel. Let them stop please. Kindly help spread the message.

Nice thread.

Please keep more of these topics coming. Helps us revive our culture and educate younger ones.

Yes, we are a beautiful people. Forget all this inter/intra ethnic nagging and bickering. We should speak more about our beautiful culture.

That way people would want to associate with us.

My younger sister's birth some 25years ago was most remarkable for me. I refused to go to school (Kindergarten) for about a year and stayed home to terrorise my granny (God rest her soul). It was a wonderful time.

As much as I don't condone any form of homosexuality,

I would like to appeal against the kind of anti-gay comments I have seen here, akin to ethnic cleansing.

People should desist from any form of violence against those who are/ are perceived to be gay.

The law is being made, if it is signed into law, then let it take it's cause.

If not, simply ask yourself- What would Jesus do? He would say "Let him who has not sinned cast the first stone"

For all have sinned and fallen short of his glory. So don't be so quick to condemn.

I laugh wen some people argue that these importers hv done nothing wrong. First of all, virtually all of them aside the major marketers(MRS,Total,Exxon,Oando and ap) did not meet the requirements to enter the business.Reason being that they dont hv storage tanks,n were not registered in cac as oil marketers. The question is how did they enter the business and started enjoying the subsidy ?  There is no other reason than that they connived with some NNPC officials to commit the fraud.
Financial fraud is a criminal offence, and I think this is where EFCC would hv to show they'r in for business.
My brother/ sister please check your facts.
These guys (I mean Capital Oil, Folawiyo, NIPCO etc) all have tank farms. I know this because my friend is a petroleum surveyor and has been to the tank farms belonging to most of these companies. I don't know about registration with CAC but I guarantee you, that's not a difficult thing to do.
If at all any of them do not have, then they will be the minority.
The fraud I percieve is in the astronomical increase from N500m to N1.4 trillion in one year. Someone needs to check that and tell us what happened.

FamilyRe: His Wife Has Too Many Male Friends by vascey(m): 1:30pm On Dec 02, 2011
I see a lot of women saying the man is jealous.
Are you high or what? You sit there and say "men and their jealous insecurities"huh What is this world turning to?
This is your husband we are talking about for fck's sake! Don't you know you are in deep poo when your husband begins to feel jealous of your friend. You have a serious problems in your hands if you are in this category. If your husband is jealous or insecure about your relationship with a guy or even woman, then please cut those bloody ties. This is a marriage. Not a bf/gf. The key word is compromise and anything that breeds distrust/jealousy in your partner should be squashed. I mean exterminated without mercy. You guys should better check yourself before you reck your family or marriage. If you are not mature enough for marriage, then pleeaaaaase, stay out of it and spare us the scarred children that would probably turn to societal rejects and blame it on their family upbringing or disjointed homes.HOHA!!!
PoliticsRe: UK, Amnesty International Kick Against Nigeria’s Anti man-lover Law by vascey(m): 12:24pm On Dec 02, 2011
@Occam, there is nothing wrong with your standpoint.
As an African and a Christian, I abhor any and every act/form of homosexuality.
But as a government, the NASS should be more concerned with upholding human rights which this homosexuality bill seems to threaten. Granted!
However, everyone should understand that this is a democracy in a sovereign state- Government of the people for the people and by the people.
There is a process of law making and this has been duly followed.
From the sentiments of everyone (majority- me included) here, it is obvious that the stance of our NASS reflects the opinion of the people.
If we were to have a national referendum, you would see that majority of us would vote in favour of a law making homosexuality illegal.

That is the beauty of democracy- WE MAKE THE LAWS WE LIKE AS A PEOPLE WITHOUT UNDUE INTERFERENCE FROM ANY BLOO.DY COUNTRY OR NGO

Now, if you want to influence the law making process, there is adequate provision for lobbyists, hearings and all what not. Anyone with dissenting views should channel their complaints through those means.

But for a FREAKING AMBASSADOR to tell us that the laws made by our REPRESENTATIVES would not be CONDONED by her majesty's government, it truly undermines the sovereignty, democracy and the real rights of the Nigerian Government and her people. It means we don't matter, our morals don't matter, our cultures don't matter, and our opinions do not matter. THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE.

The guy should be thrown out of the country jare. HOHA!!!

PoliticsRe: Did Anambra State Ever Sack Abians In The Past? Anyone With Info, Please Say by vascey(m): 11:25pm On Nov 26, 2011
To answer your question, No! Anambra never sacked non-indigene members of her civil service. The only state to have done such was Enugu and it's effect created a divide between Enugu indigenes and their Anambra brothers and sisters. I for one was born in the old Anambra capital and my mum was a teacher at the Ekulu primary school which I attended in the 80's. But once Enugu was created the my mum along with all the Anambra workers in Enugu civil service were transfered out of Enugu to schools/offices in Anambra state. Shortly afterwards we relocated to Lagos where she rose to the rank of Assistant Director before retiring. I am saying this because it is terrible that we reject our own human resources only for others to take them and make good use of their talents. In addition, don't forget that Abia was created the same time as Enugu from the old Imo state so if such occurence has not been repeated since the Enug sack then, anyone who says SE states sacked Abia workers would need to give us more substantive proof or stand the risk of being called a blatant liar.
"Nuff said"!!!

PoliticsRe: US Military To Help Fight Boko Haram by vascey(m): 6:31pm On Nov 12, 2011
In whatever capacity the USG represents itself in Nigeria, there is only one objective- To protect her economic interests in Nigeria.
Not to play "Big Brother" or to stop us from killing each other, which by the way, they know they can't accomplish.
However, I doubt the feasibility of any such plans even if GEJ is thinking about it. The North is simply too strong for any such plan to work. Moreso, such plan would have to pass through NASS.

Does your contact have it already?  Is the 50k cost of the plate and documentation?
No my contact does not have it yet. And I do not know exactly what it comprises. I believe, though, that it should be for everything.

He told me that it has not yet been released in Lagos state as they are awaiting Gov. Fashola's approval after the sallah break undecided.

However I got my colleague to speak to his aunt who actually works in FRSC Lagos.

She said the plates might not be released in Lagos till next year.

So I am trying to see if my contact can explore other states to see if I can get the plates.

BusinessRe: N26m Balance Found In Bank Account by vascey(m): 6:00pm On Oct 30, 2011
Hi Op, I hardly comment on NL but I feel compelled to make this comment due to my personal experience and my percieved possible outcome of this issue.
As a teller (NYSC), I once mistakenly overpaid on a cheque by N1.1 million. How I did it? Simply added an imaginary "0" to N123,000. Very simple indeed. The beneficiary was a simpleton. An "illiterate" hausa dude who served as an errand boy for a clearing agency in Apapa. Illiterate in quotes because though uneducated, he eventually did the right thing.
Bottom line, The error was discovered after 3 months but the money was returned by the guy (an angel as far as I am concerned) on that same day, intact.
He had similar reservations (to be or not to be) and chose to err on the side of "foolishness". But that one action made him an instrument of God to me and a lot of other people because the consequences of running off with the money would have been catastrophic and with multiple casualities.

My point- It is highly probable that someone made that same mistake and yet it has not been discovered. Tread with caution. Don't be the reason someone commits suicide or is driven to perpetual slavery. An error could have been made by anyone but you can always be the hand of God in someone's life. That poor uneducated hausa dude had better incentive/opportunity/rationalization to go off with that money than you do but did not because of a voice. That same voice (your conscience) is speaking to you and I suggest you heed it. Unburden your conscience and return the money to the bank.
Cheers.
