iamJ:Your last paragraph is unfortunately true. Many Nigerians are swayed by emotions when it comes to questions of our national interests. The Adeleke guy even failed to show up for the governorship debate. I doubt he has credible economic plans fo th state. And lots of people are here clamouring for his election. |
Gr8lex:Nice try bro... but I am not sure it would hold water. Generally, there are five essential elements to defamation: (1) The accusation is false; and (2) it impeaches the subject's character; and (3) it is published to a third person; and (4) it damages the reputation of the subject; and (5) that the accusation is done intentionally or with fault such as wanton disregard of facts." Written defamation’s are called libel but in the circumstance it wasn’t intended to be seen by a third party. At best, it’s an abuse. |
slivertongue:Stolen mandate? APC and PDP are both corrupt. Between you and me... PDP would have done the same should the tables be turned. By th way: I don’t get why people feel Adeleke will fair better? - PDP as a party is ideologically flawed - Adeleke didnt show up for the governorship debates - The guy doesn’t have a sound economic plan - to me he just seem to think governorship is a joke he can win with dances. For all we know... the best man won; credentials apart. |
When will this war end? Lots of lives have gone already ![]() |
Deji63:Amen! Thanks bro |
To be honest... these guys need psych evaluation. It’s a pity Nigeria doesn’t take things like this seriously. After the harsh weather, lack of sleep and terrors from Boko Haram, this is not an unlikely behaviour. Mental health is as important as physical health! |
aro1:Cheers bro. |
Deji63:Thanks a lot. I am sure there are, I have met a couple too. I just find it difficult coming to love them. I guess it’s a mental thing: I might need to get help on that. |
aro1:I mean it’s possible to hate the person you used to love. Usually, this occurs when the person really hurts you to the extent that a mention of them irritates you. There is such a fine line between hatred and love. I am particularly not sure I can love any lady as such anymore. May be when I meet my wife: God can teach me to love again. |
aro1:The idea of love is funny... You can hate someone as much as you used to love them. |
Intvt:I understand your choice of Canada for him; they have a relatively mild immigration policy, compared to other developed societies. But there is a huge hurdle for him if he wants to practice as a lawyer in Canada. Couple of my friends we graduated together have tried moving across from the Uk but their bar requirements is going to take him nothing less than 1yr 6 months - if he is very smart (usually takes 2 years plus the classes) Cos he will need to do some courses before proceeding to write their bar finals. Plus, it is super expensive! The Uk would have been his best option (through a masters degree) - Cos he only needs to write a QLTS if he is a qualified Lawyer in a common law jurisdiction; and it’s not really expensive roughly 4K pounds if I am not mistaken. But the immigration rules are so unfavourable and he will MOST likely not get a sponsor for staying and the uk is so strict with pushing people away after studies. On a bright side - he seems really driven. Plus the grace factor can work for him anywhere he decides to go. |
benben1000:Lol... bros kilode!!!! |
Nbote:That’s politics everywhere bro. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Kavanaugh (Trump’s recent recommendation to the US senate for a seat in the Supreme Court of the US) is currently accused of sexual assault from his days in the high school. I call that good politics - as long as they dig the dirts on each other. Politicians will be more careful about what they do now. |
id911:What do you mean finished with people like me? I am a lawyer by the way. The truth must be spoken. Adeosun did a noble thing, something most Nigerians won’t. So please spare me the sermon. |
segtak25:I can go on. 7. Forged bank account statements 8. Forged receipts 9. Forged House title documents 10. Forged driver’s licence. I can go on if you want! Fact is, anything is Forgeable and we all know how it works in Nigeria. Nobody holy pass. |
GOFRONT:Very true bro. 1. State of Origin 2. Letter of recommendation 3. Reference letter 4. Doctors report (NYSC people will relate) 5. Birth certificate (Football age people) 6. Affidavit (Oluwole market people) 6. List is endless Let him that’s without a sin cast the first stone. Btw - Saraki and the likes have been under embezzlement investigations for years and they have not resigned. Adeosun did a noble thing - for a Nigerian! |
proxillin:Smiles - that’s a double jeopardy... the case is closed: subject to CU’s rights to appeal, but who will waste resources on such an unstable person. I imagine CU can sue him for defamation instead - but that’s just damage control - churches tend to avoid being in courts. |
To think that this guy was lying all along. And he was so bold to come out in the open. He is indeed the architect of his misfortunes - subjecting his family to emotional trauma along the line. Omo pau bi Ibon. Pride is a bitch. A normal organisation will sue him for defamation... |
selectedhero:Hmmmm... i think critical is the proper word. Being naive is to receive things on face value. Fingers crossed anyway. |
BigIyanga:I imagine you would know what an household name is. I don’t think the average lagosian selling pepper on the street would have heard his name. What better to bring him to our attention than a controversy? Just saying anyway. |
The interesting thing is that this may just be a ploy to prepare this guy for taking over from Ambode. It might just be a way to get the public to know the dude so that by 2022 he would already be an household name. Neither Tinubu nor Ambode has confirmed this news since the media started spreading the rumour. What I know about good politicians is that they know how to make good use of the media and public opinion to further their course. Fingers crossed. |
Made this comment in a similar thread. Lack of good paying jobs and discriminatory recruitment conditions are mostly responsible for unemployment - and the government needs to address the latter through a legislation. Minority factors are under/over qualification - largely due to lack of proper skills or too much skills in few cases. I think graduates need to skill themselves properly to remedy that- university degrees are not enough On a general level, the jobs available in pay meagre amount. Law firms are worse. A friend told me she earns 30k per month in a Yaba Law firm. Like what is she expected to do with that? You spend mon - fri, including weekends most times, working for an organisation and at the end of the month the employer will still be holding on to your salary like he/she is doing you a favour. You got a father and mum, sis and bro looking up to you. Church tithes. You will buy cloths and shoes to look the part. Leisure expenses. Emergency funds, savings. All uncovered. At the end of the month - the debt on ground is more than the salary. It’s such a pity. Wish the govt could just implement a nationwide minimum wage for graduates and companies who can’t comply should hire less educated folks. You can’t spend 4/5yrs studying and end up working as a slave or staying without a job for months. Serious restructuring needs to be done. |
dancok:What department? |
Vaabra01:Yh... you know the drill. Angel Gabby - Sharaa!’ Dude was very popular... Fabu baba... Olympia... My home boy Davictim as well. Wish them all he best. At some point we need to move on - and this we will do as long as God permits. |
Xcelinteriors:Haba! Lol But you know that’s the beauty of the Law. Everyman deserves a fair representation: no matter how heinous his/her alleged crime. A man is innocent until proven guilty. |
automatix:I wasn’t discrediting his claim. His choice of words is what I question. Using words like finger P** etc. is indecent. There are better ways to pass the message. |
KingBaba1:I don’t think so. It’s more about parties. I am sure you are familiar with the term godfatherism. Every elected personnel - whether you like it or not - has a duty to his party, which facilitated his electoral success. And it’s the reason good guys like Jimi were not elected - because PDP is by default ideologically flawed. APC appears to have more interest in societal developments. |
Blakjewelry:Very true! I particularly liked Jimi Agbaje and Funsho Williams, of blessed memory. But Lagos has faired well under APC leadership so far. It may not be a good idea to bring in a new party with a new ideology - especially PDP. |
Bolustical:The Ministry’s declaration should be enough. The president doesn’t have to assent to everything- like he doesn’t have a job. I guess that’s what the poster was saying. & rightly so - Nigeria’s presidential system vests too much powers in the President and central govt. In the UK, the Home Office, with the authority of the Secretary of State deals with immigration issues. This helps the PM focus on matters of State. I hope Nigeria restructures soon - this system is a mess. |
Hotfreeze:I believe the poster wrote that as a sarcasm. He probably meant that the FG should not ideally be involved in everything- whatever the status quo. |
