Abagworo:
My verdict is that indigenous Igbo in Delta is same as indeginous Igbo every where. We remain a great people united by our common tongue, influenced at all our edges by neighbouring cultures but yet retain that ingenuity that stands us out from most other Nigerians. We have been resilient in the face of obvious cheating, balkanization and other political precipitate physical intimidation. The weak ones like Agbotaen are scared and think the easy way out is self denial but as usual their so called new friends will massacre them when the chips are down.

Biafra is the heartbeat of most igbos,i enjoyed onlytruth's post a lot,we should never forget the blood we shed in biafra, the biafra story must be told in every igbo home, lest the new generation be deceived by the history revisionist or or stupid "one nigeria" jargon, never again should the fate of ndiigbo be placed in the hand of a man like aguiyi ironsi.

This is how I see it. The Igbo do not owe any of the 'minorities' anything. Plain and simple. This is what they chose for themselves. So they should solve it by themselves. The Igbo are not a 'big brother' to any of these 'minorities'. Plain and simple. There is no such thing as 'big brother' in the east. It has always been 'to each his own'.

Most importantly, the Igbo should close their eyes and ears and even more so, their minds, to these 'minorities'. Its as simple as that.
Chineye, you and i know that nobody takes them serious without ndiigbo, all GEJ needed for other nigerians to take him serious was ndiigbo's endorsement,he ran his campaign as an igbo, not as an ijaw, the igbo names Azikiwe and ebele was to that effect. You are right though,it's high time we stop deceiving ourselves,we have to start looking out for our interest in this dungeon, the minorities should look out for themselves.

What made the eastern minorities to think that the the north and the west would be of any help to them, still beats me,what these people fail to understand is that ndiigbo is their big brother, nobody takes them serious without their big brother, all the yoruba and the north needed to do,in order to exploit them, was to remove the influence of this big brother, then they became vulnerable to the vultures, saro wiwa realized this late, hence his plea for igbo's help, but he failed to realize that he and his kind, had since rendered ndiigbo incapable of protecting the eastern minorities.

Saro wiwa was paranoid,he feared ndiigbo's domination in biafra,he feared ijaw's domination in rivers state(nigeria),he feared death. How can such a man full of fears be a leader?
To the question " Are people of onucha-ugbo of Igbo descent"!

The answer is no. The etymology of the name "Onucha", "Onuche", "Onitsha", "Onitcha" and many similarly spelt names as well as "Ugbo", "Igbo". . . .are origination of and with root meaning in Yoruba tongue.

Therefore, Onucha-Ugbo or other forms of which it is spelt is indeed an adulteration and mispell of the original; Orisha-Igbo.
I see you are being confused by the anglicisation of the igbo word "onicha" to onitsha,it is spelt onitsha but pronounced as onicha, onicha is found in most part of igboland, even as far away as ebonyi and imo,it has nothing to do with your yoruba deity, orisha.

owa founders from benin ,plus migrants from nri in igboland through ute okpu migration.we are ika people , and for those people saying that owa king is a custodian of nri culture , that is very funny as our king is a custodian of ika culture , but we know there are nri and edo influence in it , but to tell you the truth owa culture has more edo input .but like i said , i challenge any person who knows owa culture here to tell me specifically what the nri culture in owa is and what the bini culture is ?
let me take you through a course in owa culture , which i am very proud of -
1. kingship in owa , our ancient word and concept of kingship was ogiso , that is why till today old men and women in owa call our obi ,by the word ogiso.
2. obiship in owa is taken from the benin concept of kingship(obaship), the obi of owa is regarded as second to oselobue ,he is an absolute monarch whose words in ancient times was final, he had power of life and death.
3. our chiefthancy or ohaime (ship) is in three levels , the village, town and palace chiefs going under titles like ihama, ihaza, esama, ojekpolor, obakpolor, uwangue, ologboshere, iyase, elewu, obayangbon, obazenu, urokonogbe, isekhure, osague, inenigun, and other titles which i will later publish, this are bini titles ,/
4. we also have igbo titles like ogifurueze, odabameze, obiwenali and others that of igbo lines, but the igbo titles in owa are very little and less important , as the ones derived from benin are more ancient and powerful in owa.
5. the dressing of our kings and chief follow benin lines , using the ada and the ebenren, and beads .
6. the igbo ceremonies found and practiced in owa are ikenga, and ifejuku and ofo
7. while our obi , performs uje dance, igue festival, ikaba, olokun ,ohunweeden , which comes from benin.
8. osiezi festival , which is purely an ika festival founded by my ancestors.
9. the worship of ehi is a bini , practice still done in owa today.
10. owa is divided into ebon( umun), idumu and ogbe- which is family, village and town
11. in olden days our fathers / mothers had a facial and body mark called igu, performed by an owina , with ebeke osigu.
12. when prasing the obi of owa ,this are some of his appellations

15. no owa person has denied that there was igbo migration in owa , but we also have firm evidence of benin migration and lineage .
16. it is interesting also that when odogun came from ute okpu , he was already schooled in how benin people rule from ute-okpu and the people he met in owa so he adopted a proto-type of benin style of kingship.
17. i can also write an indepth account of how our kings are coronated and buried , they are coronated in an area we call uselu - meaning sacred area in owa -oyibu .
<Quote>Ogbuefi 1:
1) What does the name "Owa" mean ?
Owa is derived from "Owa ri onwea" which in our dialect of Igbo means " he has parted ways".This is how the name came about. Owa owns her foundation to three princes from Ute Okpu namely Odogwu, Izomor and Igbegidi. The Ute Okpu and Ute Ogbeje people were founded by  Nri people which we Anioma people call "Nhi"(in Ika dialect) or Nshi(in other Anioma dialect). These people originall settled at Ute Ogbeje but some of them led by Ijue moved westards to found Ute Okpu.During the reign of Oba Ewuare many Anioma clans were invaded by Benin forces and some of them were cajoled to join the imperial Benin army when they refocused their imperial tendencies westwards towards Yorubaland. The sons of Ijue, the founder and first Obi of Ute Okpu were involved in the wars against such towns like Akure and Owo and for many years were engaged in those wars</quote>

Ogbuefi, you are one of the reasons why I left Foreign Affairs section to concentrate in home politics and rebutt the Igbo propaganda machine.

I don't need a 5page history on your response but I need you to pay attention to your falsification of history in the above and answer to the following (1) name the war and the year that Bini fought a war with Akure and Owo or anywhere else in Yorubaland.; (2) who won the war?

Andre Uweh,

Agbotaen repeatedly has said that his people and their land was first settled by Edo people and through the missionary influence (in which oyibo favored the more subordinate Igbo tribe over the insubordinating ones like Edo, Igbo became the "house slave" and was installed the native missioner) that taught church and instructions in Igbo language, the original tongue of the land became a fluid that is now called Ika. Ika peoiple refuse to be Igbo because in their nature they have never been one beside language tutoring and subsequent Igbo settlers from the East. Their nativity is proto-Bini, but even with that admission, their destiny and social evolution had parted with that of Bini years ago to the point now that they are a distinct identity from Bini, connected only through ancient progenitors. Nonetheless, in contemporary society they are a distinct IKA people, forget language influence, forget settlement story, forget names. . . They are not Igbo, period!

You Andre is emophasizing language as a proof of their Igbo root, even after it is established that if Igbo had been more resistant and resilient and not subordinate to oyibo's mission, you never would have been the one instructing christianity and hence your language would have had no presence over the native tongue of the neighboring indigenes.

Leave Ika alone, they are not Igbo. Do you get it at all?
leave them alone?Ijebuman,it is not your job to defend ika(owa),its the job of the obi of owa,and he is not leaving us,he is holding tight,he said he is of nri ancestry, did you hear that? Not ika,not edo,but nri(NSHI) so back off.

As an ijebuman, you should be more concerned about the mud houses that is the norm in ijebuland, what solution do you have to stop that disgrace, this and more should be your concern, not ndiigbo.

I wonder what we are still discussing here, the obi of owa is the custodian of owa history,he has the last say in this matter, and he has consistently said that owa is of NSHI(nri) ancestry, not edo,of course he is aware of some edo minority, but he knows they are not relevant in the grand scheme of things, that my friends is what matters, not what some deluded individual thinks,or are we going to take the rantings of agbotaen over that of his obi?
Ok now i understand Ika's point of view

Agbotean has been right all this while but we have just fail to listen to him

Andre is also right but i think Agbotean did not understand you

Ika is like an ethnic group that connects the igbos and edo together

Ikas are actually edo people but there language is an igbo dialect

When people refuse to apply logic and reasoning on things, they become foolish.

In the days of old in igboland, human sacrifices to the gods are not uncommon, likewise throwing away of  twins, do you think that these people don't have questions? They refused to be rational, hence they were left with foolishness,in their folly, they killed innocent people in the name of sacrifices, wasted their twins in the name of taboo, they were brainwashed, they were told that they were nobody to question the gods, the god's are wise, all knowing, and shows no mercy to those who don't obey him(doesn't these sound like the attributes, the jews assigned to their God).

Today, most igbos see those god's, their ancestors served as evil, they see the act of of human sacrifices as barbaric and killing of twins as  foolishness, but they forget that those things happened because our ancestors believed that traditions and their illusion of god,are not be questioned, just as they(christians),believe that the bible teachings and the attributes they assign to God,are not to questioned,
thought pattern such as this,is bound to lead to foolishness.

@agu-tuedo.

I agree with you on this one, christian doctrines has too many faults and cannot stand the test of logic and reasoning, even the christians know this, the catholics will always say-give us your child and we will make him a catholic forever, what  they do to these children who will eventually become adults is brainwashing.

I am an igbo,i was born into christianity like most igbos, but right from when i became a teenager,i began asking questions, questions that nobody would answer,it was obvious that unlike my siblings,i wasn't going to be brainwashed, but my parents would not give it up,they kept pushing, only to meet resistance from me,this is the way of christianity,it is not  a choice  to most of it's converts, they were born into it,brainwashed to take every teaching without questioning, there is not much difference between these converts and those islamic extremist called boko haram, the only difference is the incidence of birth, for if they were born to islamic parents, they would still not ask questions.

I am not an atheist,i believe in the existence of one supreme God,but i don't believe in the attributes, most religions assign to this supreme being.

If they like they can employ very few Fulani to work in the fields / ranches. Tax the business and BAN NORMADIC HERDING.
