Yes a state can have it all. Yes, Lagos is a good example and we can achieve better than that. This is no longer a regional system whereby resources are pulled from a state and used in developing another.

Do you know why most SE states except Anambra are not able to pay common salaries? It is because apart from misapplication and misappropriation of resources, they have been parading themselves as "civil servants" states instead of industrialisation to engage the graduate and grow the IGR. It will get worse if some of them continue in that direction because it will get to a point when they cannot afford to even pay their commissioners etc.

Let every state develop at their own pace. We should never allow bureaucratic integration or red-tapism draw us back.

Every must develop in all directions be it industrialization, commercialization, oil/gas, tourism, aviation etc that way the state will be self sustained and balanced- Obiano understood this principles.
This proposal I'm talking about is actually developed by the state without anybody's resources from another state. We're talking about development with respect to what you have more than the other person. If a state feels it can do everything, I tell you, its output will be very small. The reason why dangote and co are making money is because their people allowed them to do what they have comparative advantage over any other person. Do u think, Atiku wouldn't have loved to be given the monopoly of cement production? Knowing fully well he has the money to build it.

We'll make more money if there's economic integration. Knowing your shortcomings will make you boost your advantage better. Don't manage your deficiency, so that it won't stunt the growth of your asset. Anambra state has too many things to gain from economic integration.

Every state should go home and develop their state at their own pace. The future of any state lies with itself. Forget the specialisation crap. Every state should develop in all directions be it industrialization, commerce, tourism, etc.

Obiano actually understood this principles as a technocrat that is why he is moving so fast in all directions- Oil/Gas, industrialization, commerce, tourism, aviation etc.

This is no longer regional system, every state has its own administrative capital within itself.
If you think each state can develop itself in the east, is a lie. To be frank. I am not hating, no matter what Obiano does, the state will still lag in many things. We're not saying Anambra state go into different things but to make development faster and give room for sophistication, you have to do what you have comparative advantage in and add others as jara. That's the truth.

Nwanne, I think your on point but there should be some level of specialisation amongst the states ...maybe anambra will focus on manufacturing while IMO on tourism ebonyi Agric while abia should be commerce

Well anioma ..might be admin ..depending on when they will be fully reintegratef in greater Igbo

Enugu takes admin capital

We should also have incubation centres in anambra
This is wonderful!

My brother and I were discussing how we can diversify the economy in the east. He said almost the same thing you're saying. The diversification will make one state not to be jealous of the other state.

Since Ebonyi state has comparative advantage in Agriculture, it should be agricultural hub of the region. They should be able to make billions from agriculture in the region. Anything you want should be gotten from Ebonyi state.

Anambra state has comparative advantage in Manufacturing based on the fact that manufacturing has been going on the state for some time now.

Enugu should be admin and power, because they have the coal to provide electricity the whole region can use without much problem.

Oh Abia state should have the commerce. They have the market and if the seaport is a possibility, then it is only natural market will be situated there. The biggest ware-house should be located there protect goods from spoilage.

Imo State should be designed in such a way that it can accommodate little of everything plus tourism. This will make the state one of the most beautiful in all. They should develop their oil-palm production since they have better comparative advantage in that than everyone else.

Anioma will come with its own beauty again. They have so much to give the region. They can also be the eye of the eastern region to the other part of the country to the west. So, we make Anioma an ultra-modern market! Where all goods that will be taken to other region will be situated. It will be a market where our brothers staying in other region will come and buy and go back. Many companies will love to keep their companies there and get raw materials from other parts.

I am not saying other states in the region will not do what the other states are doing but when they talk about agriculture, our minds will go to Ebonyi state. That's what I'm saying.

Nwannem, it is important our region take over the continental business because we have what it takes. We shouldn't look at our region like a retirement home where we go back to stay after the whole hustle in the year. Moreover, we're not safe in other regions in the country and if our safety is in the hands of an outsider, then we're not protected.

I am trying to make this happen, I've met some people but I need concrete support so that we can actualise this project and see our region open faster than it is now.

I don't know what you think about my proposal?

I don't know if you guys will be interested in real business. Posting pictures of this beautiful state is actually a good thing but can you guys write a proposal to the state government and asking them for you guys to manage the waste management in the state. This business is very lucrative.

Take a good look of how much you will gain from it and how you will make the state beautiful again.

Yes you are right but this is typically what a PRIVATE company would be able to do. This should be packaged as contract and companies invited to bid on them. That is how it is done abroad.
In fact that is what Etiaba tried to do albeit in a corrupt way -I know the "Engineer" that won the contract but did next to nothing before Obi cancelled the entire thing. I quietly distanced from the guy without him knowing why. We need GOOD companies to handle environmental management in Anambra State, not hustling thieves!
Government can't do it.
That's what some men are doing in Portharcourt. This waste management business is very lucrative. If the government can give this contract to an engineer, they'll take care of the state very well. I think the state needs scrubbing. Asin, scrubbing the cities and the roads from so much dirts.

The state governor should also be able to cover those red sands when tarring the roads. These red sand always stain building and the environment.

So much needs to be done.

What is happening about the millionaire city project?

A new bridge that can allow passage of ship like London Tower Bridge can be built on it to accommodate using this important water channel for both road & sea transport.
Yes, that will be another money intensive project! I was even thinking there's no bridge there. If we're to take down that bridge, the people of Akwa ibom and Rivers state will cause problems for us.

I was thinking of writing a proposal to some companies and all the igbo governors, so that they can pull funds together. I am also thinking if igbo businessmen can pay what I call diaspora tax, to make this project a reality. This port will boost the economic activities of the region by 80percent. This will even make businesses expand to the region. More jobs for youths, more money for government and development in a our region.

Now you are seeing what people like Nnamdi kalu are saying. There is and has been an ongoing war against Ndigbo to cage them perpetually in Nigeria. their biggest card used to be to create a wedge of fear and enmity between the Niger Delta communities and the SE.
But that plan has failed since the Niger Deltans have since realized their main game of divide and rule and have started refusing to cooperate with them in facilitating their own exploitation and cheating.
Like what lyn said the other time, can we look into creating an offshore platform to make things easier outside the territorial shores of this country?

yeah... u can use ur google map to check it the river is large enough to accomodate batches but not wide enough and deep enough to accomodate those Giant ships u see at apapa, also the bridge makes it impossible for certain vessels to pass, after building d port we can make a man made lake at Aba so that there wont be congestion at the terminal.
This project is going to gulp billions of dollars. I know everything necessary that needs to be done should be done to awaken the place. This is a serious setback for us. This government have really done something bad for our people.

@ the bolded,

The choice of that bridge at that specific location was part of the grand scheme by Nigerian cartographers that ended the border of Abia state on the map where they did, in order to deny any part of the SE region access to the Atlantic ocean.
Similarly, All access to the River Niger was removed from Imo state and moved into Rivers state. The natural border between Rivers and Imo is at Omoku. But it was stretched to reach the Anambra border to by-pass Imo! Simply because Ndoni community had oil !
The question is still, what language does ndoni people speak and who are they? If Imo state is in the SE region while some from ndoni in the middle of SE is in the southsouth, it tells you a fraudulent drunk has been making maps in Nigeria.
However, in the fullness of time, Even if the Port is built in Opobo land of Rivers state. Who are the Opobo?

So, what are you trying to say? Please enlighten me alittle. Do u mean the Ndoni people have access to the sea?

vick james it is possible to site a seaport in Abia, but for it to be feasible the bridge linking Rivers to Akwa ibom would hv to go and some dredging wud take place,
the river which separates Rivers from Akwa ibom starts from Aba and ends in opobo emptying into the Atlantic Ocean.with the help of sth like a rig like structure in the first pic which would be located off the coast of any Nigerian state which would off load d ships into the rafts in the second boats and ferry them to the Abia port what do u think?...

I think the igbo youths have been sleeping without taking concrete steps in safe-guarding our future. It is apologetic to know that young igbo men have been left in the sidelines when the talks of economic and infrastructural development of our region is concerned. I have also come to understand that, we as people have not really pushed hard in changing the image of our region since post-biafran war.

I am not going to sit down and see our future be pushed into background, we must take decisive steps in making things happen in our region. We must take concrete action and make well-informed decisions to enable our region investors friendly and build home-grown billionaires within the next 10years.

I am inviting all igbos from any part of the divide to join me discuss and take decisions in making our region what we want it to be. This is not a mere come and talk group but a group that we will empower every member to have the necessary support to meet and influence the decision of our other brothers.

I love the idea that the state is distributing the development to different parts of the state and not concentrating in one region alone. This will widen the development in the state.

The truth is that, the state governor is trying and I have to give him kudos in his attempt to open up the state. The problem I have with my people is the way they litter the environment where they live. The government should try as much as possible to post billboards and pamphlets educating people to stop dumping dustbins in public places. It is very important. Even with the fine structures in anambra state, the state still look dirty or is it the camera they used in covering most videos I watch?

The governor can't do it alone, in your own small measure, we can help in distributing pamphlets stressing the importance of keeping the environment clean. Rome was not built in a day but let's start building a better foundation for our land.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by VickJames(m): 5:29pm On Sep 19, 2015
I am not here to derail this thread but I am here to enlighten
many of us of the possibilities the eastern part of the
country can give to its people.
We have two access to the sea, though, its alittle far from the
sea but God knows why he did that for us. He knows that we
aren't lazy and we can do something about our situation
when the need arises. I know my people are deep-thinkers
and know that we're the light of Africa in many aspects. If
you look well at the Nigerian Map, you'll see that we have
direct access to the different parts of the country without
difficulty. Please note that this is a blessing in all
ramifications.
Please, I want you all to also understand, we don't have
governors who have large pool of cash to spend and our
states cannot get such loans from any part of the world
without our help. I need you all not to look at this things as
unnecessary but think deep and see the importance of this
message. What our governors are doing will only develop
our region alittle no matter how they try to develop it. The
sincere truth is that we're the only ones that can develop
this region from our collective efforts and forgetting the fact
that we're from different states.
What am I saying? No matter how huge the money needed
to create this seaport, we can bring it out from collective
effort and see our region develop in an astronomic pace. We don't need the ones in akwa-ibom nor the one in calabar.

We need the one in Abia and Imo states. Abia seaport being
a priority of the two. If this seaport is finished, by the special grace of God. The region will witness a development that will be very difficult to handle.
Please look at the map very well, if goods enter the region
through Abia, we stab the country in the stomach (at the
middle). Abia is connected to calabar, akwa ibom, Rivers,
Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo, etc. These states apart from Calabar are
less than 30 minutes drive from Abia state. Foreign investors
will see this has a ready-made market for them because
they can spread their tentacles within a short time span
within these states and make their monies fast. This will
make our region lure thousands of investor for long term
investments.
Abia state is better located than lagos. Lagos is at the edge of the country while Abia is at the middle where it can connect different states at thesame time. We should understand the importance of this analysis before throwing it into the trash can.
We should also think again, with the rising agricultural sector in the east, we're planning to start exporting our own
agricultural products through our region. This will reduce
loss of billions through accident and taxes in Lagos. Since its
our port, we will get a lot of discount when exporting these
products. What will be produced in the eastern region will
be exported through our own port. This will make business
easy and we will run our economy ourselves from our own
home. It will be very easy to export to Gabon, south africa
and other african countries close to us.
I am begging not because I'm a business man neither am I
from the government, we should look into this seaport
because its our eyes to the world. God never made the
mistake of giving us that life-line because he knows we will
need in future.
I want an eastern region where development will be evenly
distributed and nothing will said about our goods been
confiscated in wharf and our brothers running out of
business. It is imperative I say this now before it becomes,
"we should've done it" kind of situation.
keep this in mind, I am from Anambra state and Nanka to be precise. I am coming back to tell you what Anambra needs to do to destroy one state monopoly as been witnessed in this country.

To be honest, I don't want ijaw, itshekiri, edo, urhobo in biafra. I don't see their importance. The only people I find their refusal touching are the Ikwerres because they're my people and I really want them to come back home. I don't need the oil the urhobos or itshekiris are shouting about. I know we're better of without it.

The Edo people claiming we need the South south to gain access to the sea are really not informed. We can carve out two ports in the east from imo and abia states. When it comes to natural resources, please be informed of the vast amount of resources in anambra, imo, abia, enugu, ebonyi, anioma, efik/ibibio, egbema, obigbo, etc. These resources can develop the region without external help.

I am wondering what these people really feel about themselves other than being in the middle of nowhere. I'll really love Biafra to stop asking ijaws, urhobos, etc for Biafra because I think it will cause problems in the long run.
PoliticsRe: Biafra View On Edo State by VickJames(m): 7:15pm On Sep 16, 2015
It is important for everyone to understand the concept of state creation in Nigeria. States were created not because of their ethnic affiliation but for the sake of some people to have a face when dealing with national issues. Edo state is not a tribe and never will and I think the igbanke people are been marginalised in this present setting based on low number. We their brothers have been looking from afar for a very long time and we won't sit down and let this continue. Our igbanke brothers will be reunited with their kins in Anioma. So that they'll have the true identity they're supposed to have. They will not remain in obscurity and under your carpet.

Anyone that said Igbos migrated to igbanke should better stop talking because humans expand over time. The first edo tribe expanded to their present form and so every other tribe. So, the igbankes will remain in their land and from there answer their real father's name.

So, Buhari is trying to say what Adesina did in the agricultural sector was mere noise-making? Or what some Akunyili in the information ministry was mere noise-making?
Is it the ministries where we still have old men with 1970 brains that he is calling technocrats? So, they've been technocrats all these years and all the ministries are more or less dead except with the timely intervention of some ministers who gave many of their jobs to some consulting firms to save them from mass sack.

A ministry without minister is like an army without a commander. They know how to kill, but they don't know who to kill.
