PoliticsRe: Can Nigeria Ever Be A First World Country? by VickJames(m): 7:20pm On Sep 10, 2015
To be sincere and candid, Nigeria cannot be a first world country because of the high dependency rate of most parts of the country. Many of these things you mentioned needs people who can work from the different parts of the country in cohesion.

The north and south have different ideologies on development, how can develop when two people have different ideologies? We will only continue to grow at this rate because that's what we can offer now.

I am not a tribal person, but when you look at the system present, you'll know that becoming a first world country will be difficult.

BIAFRA: THE BLUE-PRINT FOR DEVELOPMENT

It is really appalling that we don't discuss the way we will develop the region but we discuss more on the secession time. Coming from scratch will be alittle difficult because of the economic atmosphere we're in at the moment.

All hope is not lost because the face of Biafra is our face, forget the land. We're the ones that will make the land what it will be and not the land. God has blessed us over the years with ever-growing business and outstanding educational development which we're going to apply in our lands to make it one of the best in the world.

Nnamdi Kanu cannot do everything, so he will depend on the support of us who can help in no small measure in maaking this legacy, a reality.

The population of Biafran around the world is almost 30million, if not more. We have the numbers and we have the assets. We need to protect the future because as the adage that goes "the way you lay your bed, that's how you will lie on it". It is important we wash our bed sheets well and spread it well too, so that we won't have any problem when the time comes.

I am here to give a proposal of which I am open to criticisms. The igbo people can create a bank for the interest of the Biafrans. This bank will be a bank, that will give credit facilities to Biafran entrepreneurs. It will be the bank that when we secede, our monies will be safe. This bank will also oversee the developmental projects that will take place in east and assist the government in the east in building mega-cities.

How do will fund this bank? There will be what is called "diaspora tax system". Every Biafran working or into business should a certain meagre sum into this account. This money will used in funding developmental projects in the region. That's to say, we will design a pattern whereby, what every state in Biafra will look like. We will develop it accordingly. This design will be world class and you will not be disappointed when you'll see the outcome. The region is not too big that development cannot run into the region within a 10year period.

Moreso, this meagre sum will be used to do business with international companies based in China, Hongkong, Russia, USA, etc where their economy is on the rise. This will enable us save our monies so that we will be protected in trying times. This monies will give us high turnover because of the exchange rate difference. We can use it for business and educational development.

I want to also propose something, we're going to do business and not make thesame mistakes as what our government is doing. We are going to build companies ourselves, operate it ourselves and sell it off to the whites who will see it as a profitable business.

What's the gain in selling of that kind of business? This will make foreign investors see us as a profitable entity. They will not see any reason to start business hardware companies. Our gain will be, we will gain from it sale and we will have employed our people in the company. If we do this, we will have developed and enriched the region to the extent that it will be difficult hold inside Nigeria.

To be continued.

My brothers! Stop Arguing Biafra! You don't argue about what's already in existence. You don't argue about the legacy your fathers left for you. You don't argue about who is your brother and who is your sister. You don't argue about who fought the war most! We fought the war in our own capacity!

It is insulting to say the least that we continue to argue with people about who we are instead of focusing on what we can do when the time comes. They will continue to raise topic upon topic to derail you and make you feel the urge to argue and insult back. Biafra was not built on hatred and will never thrive on hatred. I believe Biafra will be a land with men proud to be from the land. The name Biafra will be synonymous to bravery and patriotism. No biafran child will be looked down in disdain. No biafran child will walk again naked and without clothing! Its not a shame we passed through that phase in life with our heads up and our hands on the rifle. We don't need to fight war to secede this time, but we will secede.

Now, we want this dream to come through! We need to act. In every capacity that you can, you need to act. I say no violence! But we can make many things work before the time comes! I know how intelligent we are. I know how many things we can do with our innovative minds. I have my own ideas, you have your own ideas. We won't manage ourselves like this country is been managed. See where we are with the level of management they've managed this country. Our fatherland won't be a haven for weaklings and lazy minds. We should start picturing what we want our fatherland to be like. The time has come, are you ready for the great things that will happen? Don't be caught unawares! You should be ready at all times, whether you're in Lagos, Kano, Rivers, Imo, USA, etc. You should be ready. The world will hear a loud cry of freedom. The cry of a new born baby! The baby that will give hope to Africa.

When its time, you will all dance in the name of God! The streets will be filled with men, women and children of all age. They will dance to the song of Chukwu Okike! They will sing all day and night. You will be in your own land and in your own house. You won't be afraid of any landlord or anyone saying you are obstructing his view! You will dance and fall inside your farmlands and laugh. You will be so happy because you will close to everyone meaningful to you in life. It will be like the joy of the people of Israel when they got to Canaan. The joy will know no bounds. The feeling will be heavenly. The day will mark the day God came to rescue His own people. Don't be afraid, after the dark, its the morning!

The creator of the free people of Biafra. The creator of this blessed race will never let this legacy die!

In this thread, I don't want to hijack it. You will say the things you want to be done in this new country. The policies that you think we work.

Its your fatherland, you need to contribute to its growth!

I am a child of Anambra, Nanka to be precise.

lol and the idiot tries to downplay the victory of the Ibadan against the Fulani again. why won't a blood thirsty Fulani man launch another campaign against the people that defeated him for 16yrs? the answer is simple. the Fulanis stood no chance. the area was hilly and their Calvary was useless. they had to come down from their horses and fight the Ibadan people who were determined to protect their freedom. don't make the victory look like a small one. ewu IBO. go and find out the meaning of the song below

the Yoruba civil war was discussed sometimes on nairaland years ago. Ilorin which was now under the control of the fulanis was still fighting Ibadan all through the civil but Ibadan never lost!!!

www.nairaland.com/864525/yoruba-kiriji-wars-1877-1893

prove me wrong
This guy don't seem to get it. You only defended a lost empire. Ibadan never grew more than a city state. Please get yourself together. The Fulanis didn't see any reason to drive very far to conquer you guys. You can still see the belittling eyes the Fulanis still give you guys.

No matter how you develop, the Fulanis will still see you guys as the people they conquered. A lost empire. The yoruba heritage was destroyed by Fulanis. And the pain will continue to hunt your people forever. The Fulanis sent your king packing. They ran for their lives from the old oyo-ile to ibadan. See the distance on foot coupled with the fear and tremble.

You cannot change history to boost your ego, sorry about that. The story is that Oyo empire was decimated by cattle rearers. I'm sorry it had to end like that. If only Uthman Dan Fodio had continued his conquest, your tribe would've been off the map.

Thank Olodumare for coming to the rescue by sending the better enemy from Lagos, the British.

Please, next time, don't quote wordpress for me grin.

Please, I never said you guys didn't pull a stunt at one time. I've read your history more than I think you've read it. Ibadan only forestalled the expansion of the Fulanis with the help of the Ijebus, so calm down with the praises.

Internal squabbles? Have u forgotten that you guys didn't have an empire again and everyone were looking protection and none trusted the other. So, they created different city states.

I think the Uthman Dan Fodios didn't see anything in expanding past his limits that's why he didn't launch a major assault on you guys.

Ibadan city state was not as big as Oyo empire, therefore they're no match for the Fulanis in the war front.

Ibadan was never as great as the Oyo empire in terms of land mass but Ibadan never lost a war!!! In fact the armies of Ibadan stopped Fulani incursion down south
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibadan
I'm sorry you find history difficult to interprete. Please listen without arguing. The Oyo empire was much more bigger the size of Ibadan empire.

The ibadan empire was just the remnant of lost victory. Check the size of ibadan and maybe two other local governments and compare it with the whole yoruba land. Please think about what you say before saying it.

You guys only defeated the Fulanis when they were trying to expand more than their limits. You guys never grow passed your predecessors.

Don't embarrass yourself by making up facts to suit your bruised ego. The Iwo-Ileru humanoid was anything but "advanced". Archeologists were just surprised to find such an "archaic" humanoid dating as recently as the date you mentioned. The conventional wisdom was that such hominids had disappeared at least 80,000 years previously. Technically, the Iwo-Ileru fossils weren't even modern Homo sapiens.

The other fable about Oramiyan smiths teaching people about stuff they already knew is equally embarrassing. I know you want to do a little "chest beating" but making up your own facts is a shameful way to go about it. The actual archeological evidence indicates that Igbo-Ukwu was the earliest evidence of bronze smithing in the whole of west Africa. The ancient mines that provided the ores were also discovered.

I am sure your ancestors probably had some kind of accomplishments. Stick to those and stop the wild claims.
I wanted to quote him but I didn't want to give him a chance to cause any squabbles. Belittling the igbo-Ukwu bronze-smithing is an insult to our culture. How can he say the binis taught the igbos bronze-smithing. This is not the matter of claiming anything but the yorubas strength ended when there was need to be strong.

idiot so if the empire collapsed under it's own weight how then can you say that the fulanis brought an end to it? didn't you know the Ibadan kingdom emerged a regional power from the downfall of Oyo and stood strong against all invaders. now can you tell us about IBO history?
Please tell that story to those who need ginger. The downfall of oyo empire marked the downfall of the yoruba kingdom. You guys started having different people with different heads.

The igbo never had a kingdom of some sort because they never saw its necessity because they were protected from all angles. And their immediate neighbours were more less friends.

The time the igbos went to war was with a formidable force which was the british army. A people of then not more than 3million fought the british army for close to 35years before they eventually did mago-mago and brought our leaders to a kangaroo court and sentenced them.

Do you know how many british captains were killed during ekumeku's war that spanned almost 15years? Let me make the whole thing simple for you. We were the reason the almagamation took them time to initiate. Because after the ekumeku's war, the whole Nigeria was under them.

The igbos don't bow down to no man, and most of all unscrupulous ones. We stand when we need to stand!

The igbos fought Biafran war with Nigerian soldiers with super-powers behind Nigeria. But you guys lost 500,000 soldiers. Can u imagine the number?

The problem u guys had and I have to tell you, you guys designated people to be soldiers and left some to be suckers. That's why when your soldiers are been dealt with, you guys will shrink. I am not insulting you but only saying the truth. Territories that were defeated then, using my knowledge of warfare, were the ones who had a defined army and when the armies were taken down. The remaining were weaklings.

But a region like the igbo region where no definite army, you don't know who to fight. And everyone fought for two reasons: for their families, and for their names. That's one thing you guys will never have.

"They're stubborn, they hardly bend to oppression, but they're progressive. If the europeans are not careful, they may overtake us."

Someone said the athenians had an empire. What kind of biased and unread person will say that?

Someone said the igbos lived in hamlets, oh! I've lived in the yorubaland for ages, I can't find any form of civilisation in their ancient buildings except mud which has low binding capacity.

The yorubas couldn't have attacked the igbos because they'll have to cross the Niger river. So, let me tell you something, can your "empire" win that kind of war? What sort of madness will that be?

Only 1/20th of the igbo population were staying at the other side of Niger. So, claiming u defeated and enslaved those people isn't much of a question. Let me draw a similar scenario here, the roman and persian empire were taking each others territory without major onslaught from the capital. The only time they'll attack u back is when u try to moved beyond ur boundary limit.

Going back to the igbos, the igbos had democracy in their heads and hated oppression. You will never cross the major rivers and go back victorious. I swear it. You don't dare.

All the yoruba chanters, I am very sorry. You guys were the easiest to beat. They even sent your kings on exile. Your thrown empty. Someone even lied that they just relocated the thrown? For what? Give me one good reason why you should relocate your throne?

The only plausible reason you can give is that Uthman Dan Fodio sacked you guys from your capital. And your ibadan warrior had to stop them from moving further. That did not mean that you guys chased them away. The sacking of Oyo-ile led to different disgruntled houses to renege on the throne and fight for their independence. That's why we have different obas today.

Mr. Man stop concocting lies from the pit of hell to help your tribe look strong okay. Uthman Dan Fodio was a stronger soldier than your sophisticated warlords who tremble in the site of real attacks.

One of the most retarded write up I've seen on Nairaland. Africa is what it is today because of a number of factors not least of which is the unstable political systems from lumping together different people with different ideologies in same countries. This bred a corrupt political class that has been feeding on this system and is refusing to change the system because it is not in their interest.

Africans also have a strong heritage of superstition/poor grounding in scientific approach to problem solving which further worsens the political challenges and has made it difficult for Africans to demand results from their leaders.

This same superstition heritage is what "Africans" in Brazil, Cuba, USA etc carried with them to the "new world". Add their recent history of marginalization and exclusion from political leadership and you the factors that largely explain why people or African origin in those countries appear to have achieved less than the larger populations. The situation is changing as more people of African heritage gain more awareness of these issues. You now have a number of Africans creating businesses and jobs all over the world. More needs to be done but not by preaching self hate as many people are doing here.
At one point in the histories of the whites, they were lumped with people with different ideologies too. Do you remember the Roman empire? The egyptians and Greeks had different ideologies. So what's your argument there?

In the medieval age, if you're conversant with philosophy. Europe had one of the highest rate of superstitious people because of their religious inclination.

If you were too good, you will have developed more than what you're now.

I love black people. They love living in denial. They blame everyone for their problems. Like someone said in this thread, he blamed "the leaders", while another blamed "not thinking out of the box", while some said "other white countries are poor".

Hahahahahahahhahahahahah

Black men don't think. Someone said Algeria produces more oil than angola who is the second highest producer of oil in africa!

The black race is below the white race, take it or swallow it. Its not inferiority complex at all. It is the plane fact.

Can you imagine what another person said "it was the slave trade that made everything bad!" What a stupid excuse! When the portuguese and spaniards were thinking of what will be at the other side of the sea, your ancestors were living in mud house.

When Romans were defeating nations, and taking them as colonies, you guys were living in stone-age!

Oh! I remember, someone said the egyptian were the first in building pyramids, lmao! But she forgot that that same egypt have been slaves to different powers. Since the israelites left them.

Its simple, the black man have low capacity to expand his thinking. The black man is always selfish and always thinking about self. A black man can only learn from his teacher, but doesn't have the ability to create new things except he relates with the whites.

I am not saying I am an inferior being to the white but the truth remains that they are by far ahead of you. It is not your leaders that's the problem, the problem is you!

You complain about leaders every time, haven't you changed leaders, has anything changed? Black men!

Let me burst your bubbles, those saying some of these eastern europe countries are poor, I laugh you all. Someone even went ahead and said Ukraine is poor. Ukraine that's giving scholarships to international students who wants to study medicine and other courses? Have u seen an Ukrainian road? Oh please, stop fooling yourselves jooor!

Those countries doesn't have resources but very good tax systems, but they still provide for their people without much problems.

Nigeria: crude oil, bitumen, coal, vast land for agriculture, rubber, gold, iron, access to sea, etc. Still a third world country!

Angola: almost like Nigeria. Third world country.

South Africa: after the whites stopped developing them, I don't know what they've been doing.

Let's leave the shores of africa, what will say about Haiti or Jamaica? Any significant importance in the world except increasing the world dependency rate?

Leave matter for mathias! Blacks are lower than whites!

There's one thing I still want to make people understand in this Biafran struggle. I doubt some SS entities understand what their bargaining power will be if they follow Biafra.

Your people are all in the creek trying to kidnap so that their cries will be heard in aso rock. But the northerners with 19 states will always quench your cries in Nigeria. When you want something to be passed in the house, its very easy for the north to sweep it under the carpet.

Do you think the north will accept when they fully develop their mining industry? Let me laugh at you guys well well before I continue.
If you're good with history, the north never shared proceeds from the groundnuts they exported but your proceeds were used to develop their homes! grin. The way Buhari is spending billions to develop their mining industries, you'll see the reaction of northerners when it finally comes to light. Check well, they have finally taken the north central as theirs, that means their power is now unlimited.

Think guys! This is political mathematics.

Igbos are greedy! I laugh in german! Have u seen an igbo man in major govt parastatal? I think No. Who do you see in every federal government parastatal? The northerners. The igbos have faced turbulent times and have to be very smart to come out from the dust. You say they're greedy? No, they're survivals. You were given 20pounds to start life from the scratch and you think he will not do everything smart to get to the top? I think you're just hating.

An igbo man has never gone to your land and claim as theirs. They don't fight you in your homes. Its been very long you see an igbo cause inter-tribal fight. Oh! You will say nairaland insults? Right? I tell you, it ends here and no igbo will go to your doorstep and fight you if you don't provoke him or disrupt his business. He doesn't have time for lapses because his competitors will overtake him if he slacks.

To the south south, I am very sad you guys think we will eat your "oil money". I'm sorry some people made you think that way, but let me tell you something. The eastern states are just 5 while the south south are 6! Who will have more say in this bargain? Your thoughts are as good as mine. We leave this country without you guys, you become minority more than ever. Why? They'll divide you guys more and favour a few in their quest to rid you off your wealth.

The south south say they own the oil. Good. I didn't say you don't have oil. Some igbo speaking parts of rivers, abia, imo and anambra have oil. Who wants your oil? I think no one does. If we can export our oil, we will just behave like normal people as sell it ourselves. I believe fractional distillation is process is still fresh in my memory.

The other people who say we will find it difficult to eat. I think they've forgotten that anambra state has started all out investment on poultry agriculture and rice planting. Imo state with their vast amount of red oil. I think abakaliki can speak volumes about its ability to grow any type of crop. Don't ask me how I know, I'm good with agriculture too.

Power will definitely be easy in the east, why? Its small. And we have a state filled with coal. Chemistry will tell you that destructive distillation of coal will give you bitumen and other resources used in the power industry coupled with gas from our "oil" too.

With good human resources, the eastern region will not lack in many things. They don't sit at home and whine about the government. They do things themselves. You know that the east boast of the highest number of human resources. An average igbo boys wants to get his hand on things that will be fruitful. The psychology will help in the next generation and make the region vibrant with economic activities.

I just want you guys in the south south to understand something, we're not out for your resources, we're out to make things right and have a level playing ground in the affairs of the new country. You enjoy your wealth and have the ability to pass bills into law yourself.

Don't sit down and whine! Because when some of us leave, the north will show you how big they really are. You know, you're not really homogenous in your region.
