I bump into this by accident and I definitely concur. We should begin at local level to examine who we elect to offices so that we will have a better country. So, electing a councillor, local govt chairman, Assembly member, senatos etc if we elect crooks at local levels we should have ourselves to blame when we end up with a crooked President. It is time we should try bottom up. |
Corruption is now a entity of its own in Nigeria. It has legs, hands, mouth and characteristics of any human being and infact get celebrated in Nigeria. look, people worship money and that is part of the value system that is setting Nigeria backwards. Think about it, even a kid without any form of employment turn up with big car and loads of money and get celebrated by his family without asking questions. 'Big mannism' 'big boy' syndrom etc. until we begin to look at people who suppossed to have money and be rich critically in Nigeria and their source of monies then this type of things will continue. SUGGEST A WORKABLE SOLUTION TO CORRUPTION IN NIGERIA AND WE ARE ON OUR WAY TO A BETTER FUTURE OTHERWISE WE WOULD CONTINUE TO BE THE JOKE OF THE WORLD |
chikend:A thousand mile journey start with the first step. We did not arrive at where we are today just in few weeks or months, it has taken many years and whatever the solutions may take sometime but we have got to start somewhere and start now. Infact, I predict that if we take a fair, workable and effective solution it will take less time and surprisingly quick to reduce to corruption to a bare minimum in Nigeria. Just using Bhuari/Idiagbon regime as example, as soon as the regime execute 3 of the drug courier, the drug trafficking business went down over 90% because the message is sent loud and clear. Everyone suggestion is welcomed so that we can begin to find new beginings. God bless you guys |
funloving:CORRUPTION CORRUPTION CORRUPTION from FOETUS to THE OLDEST PERSON IN THE COUNTRY. The have no put it in everyone DNA. We need a submitt on tackling corruption( if the organiser will not steal the money for the programm) Until we find a workable and effective solution to corruption we will simply be going in circle. However, the only reason we are able to discuss and investigate and find stolen founds is because of democracy as in civilian administration however imperfect it is. I believe IBB is the most corrupt Nigeria possibly follow by Abacha and OBJ is not too far beheind but there are other leaders who are subtle or clever with their corruption and not got notice. One day is for Nigeria, everyday so far as being for the corrupt leadership. Nigeria and Nigerians our day is coming very soon as the Lord Liveth. |
Yar A'dull is not a monster but completely CLUELESS as to what his duties are. He is more like George W. Bush who allow commanders on the ground to do as they please and rubber stamp it except that George W Bush has his father who has some brain to give some good opinion. Trying to give a man more than he can cope with is like killing him softly especially when he has a dubious health in the first place. OBJ missed a great opportunity to find a good leader as his successor. look at MEDVED in Russia replacing PUTIN Yar A'dull is not a monster but hopeless with monstrous team like Aoodonaka. Kinigibe etc Lord save us. |
grafikdon:WELL SAID ILLUSSION 2020 ( i call it police N20 N20 vision) maybe we can become top 20 nation in 2050 if we start now. The entire leadership of Nigeria lack direction. The only thing they know is corruption and if one thing is certain unless we change our direction we will still be top 20 corrupt nation. If they are fooling me I refused to fool myself. We are in a ruderless ship and we have been in it for a long time, Lord have mercy. |
The witch doctor must share from the national cake, that is their own share of the oil money. Isn't it that everybody is having a way to share from it including MEND why not the witch doctor. BY THE WAY YAR A'DULL NEED THEM MORE IN ADDITTION TO HIS MARABOUT TO ATLEAST BE GUIDED OF THE DIRECTION HE SHOULD TAKE THE COUNTRY. FUNNY PEOPLE NEED FUNNY BED FELLOW. CLUELESS PRESIDENT HAS CLUELESS TEAM INCLUDING THIS NDDC SAM EDEM. It is all chop chop no work work |
Chrisbenogor:I have started a thread about our suggested solutions to corruptions in Nigeria. To all RIBADU basers and even the PSC and FGN you lot need deliverance from the spirit of evil. Before RIBADu and the so called selective justice, please tell me when a corrupt governor or IGP was investigated, tried and jailed. RIBADU's EFCC is just an invetigating and prosecuting organisation but not the judge. We have a transparent legal system that judge the accussed. Yar A'dull is an hopeless, helpless and clueless man. Assuming RIBADU is corruprt or he deserve demotion for whatever reason he should not be hounded and humilated for persecuted but prosecuted until EFCC has brought most people to Court. I suspect that the war is against EFCC and crime/corruption fighting and not against RIBADU per se, but the FGN has to rubbish and discredit EFCC in order to scap it and we start from the scatch. Yar A'dull is not in control nor does he have an idea of the people who surround him so he has failed before he start. Howsoever, imperfect RIBADU and war against corruption and the so called selective justice, that man RIBADU is an HERO and a man that NIgeria need to reedeem this almost irredemable country. |
Come to think of it, Yar A'dull and all these police commission nonsense cannot talk about due process and rule of law because RIBADU removal up on till this time is unconstitutional, so yar A'dull himself has not apply due process and rule of law by sending Ribadu to a dubious school for dubious reason. Even a primary school child knows that it is just cover to remove him as head of EFCC. Before RIBADU EFCC and the so called selective justice, can anyone tell me how many governors are indicted let alone went to Prison. At the end of the day, the end is near for all of our recycled 'leaders' but they must first get into a false comfort zone to think that all their enemies have been side step. Another important step, promotion is not by number of years but pure merits. A Jss1 pupil can be promoted to Jss3 if he/she merited it whilst not going through JSS2. Everyday for the thief, one day for the owner. NIGERIA our time is almost here. |
I am of the opinion that Yar A'dull is more than clueless from the begining. OBJ political gameplaying is coming to hunt him. He 'select' Yar A'dull to checkmate both IBB, Atiku and Bhuari. In some respect Yar A'dull among some of the Northern ruling class is near the 'best' they can offer. And because of OBJ lack of vision for the country and selfishness he did not encourage young and futuristic leadership candidate from every part of the country especially the south south or the south east. He simply follow the Northern game playing of reverting power back to the north as if the country is simply divided between North and south. Whatever the shortfall of RIBADU, he has set a precedent which i don't think that even the current EFCC chairman can match. whether is selective justice or not, governors and IGP of police have been put in jail because of this courageous man. let me tell you that I have predicted that between Okiro, Aoodaonka and Yar A'dull fight on corruption will be set back to square one. If everyone will recall that we know that Yar A'dull is a dishonest man and his action for removing RIBADU in the first instance is unconstitutional. He did a political posturing once IBORI and his 'TEAM' went to see him and made a case for their position and on how they bankroll his election. Life is ironical, by trying to humilate RIBADU, this may actually be the begining of end for these sets of recycle politicians including OBJ, IBB etc - they may not know it and may simply assume it is business as usual. God help this nation N.B. On the point of demotion, the police service commission may have a point but do anyone raise an eyebrow when they are being promoted. The demotion is an attempt to frustrate RIBADU out of the service and to ensure that he does not become an IGP because the Police may just get an overhaul and have a good name. |

He is not a leader like many before him. Even in the midst of all the problems and the corruption he should have at least pick an issue as a flagship so that we can work out his intentions. The people behind him are simply waiting for 4 years to be used up and campaign for re- election for another 4 years and maybe even 3rd time like they did with OBJ. God help us. Since when did Nigeria have good leaders as presidents that lead you to state that line in bold? Please let us stop comparing kwashiokor with leprosy, bad is bad. Sky Blue:maybe I should rephrase my statement - what I am saying is that yar A'dull is not a leader as the previous people before him are not leader as well. he may even be better than some of his predecessors in some respect. I hope that is clarified. |

Both the receiver and giver of the bribes should be charged to court, they are both culpable. This alledge N22m will not be for just this 5 people but for host of other people in the service to make sure everything 'gel' As the former national anthem says ' Nigeria we hail thee' Everything has been established on corruption without no boundaries. I am sure the defence counsel will be able to cite in their defence and mitigation the state of the nations deplorable situation and our leaders having over 100K in daily allowance. So maybe the ordinary folks want a yearly allowance of say N1 million. CORRUPTION CORRUPTION CORRUPTION - when will thou ceased? |
madamkoko:Why banning church, what about moqsue and other religion practices. quite frankly religion is one small part of the problem. THE BIG ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM IS CORRUPTION. - of mind, soul , financial and physical. Find a comprehensive, strict, workable and effcetive solution to CORRUPTION that start now dealing with past and present leaders including ordinary citizen in equal measure, open and transparently we will have the birth of a new NEW NIGERIAN. ANYTHING ELSE IS WINDOW DRESSING |
Ibime:I CONCUR TO THE ABOVE IN BOLD CORRUPTION IS THE ONLY MAJOR THING THAT IS SETTING NIGERIA BACKWARD. UNTIL WE CAN TAKLE AND FIND A WORKABLE AND EFFECTIVE SOLUTION THAT START WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT WE ARE JUST WASTING OUR TIME. READ MY PIECE ON CORRUPTION- WHAT ARE YOUR SUGGESTED SOLUTIONS THAT IS EFFECTIVE, WORKABLE AND START NOW? |
Nigeria its is a fraud and corruption, what do you expect from its leaders not to talk of ordinary people. We are being fed with whatever figures suit the people 'leading' us. @ okija juju and Uche2nna Ara ga Gba ndi Ara what does Okija juju sigantures above means, it sounds somehow |
Fhemmmy:Your statement is contradictory. on one hand dad is too tigh fisted - to hand over N5 million to do the daughter to have a good time as an undergraduate- what who she do when she graduated and start working. Off course she knew how the father/mother may have gotten the money yafu yafu in the first place. At least the parent will have given something decent in the first place. she has taken the dna of her mother/father because that is what politicians do to their state and country. On the other hand she should be severly punished more than her accomplice in the crime, but i wouldn't hold my bet on this as her parent will not like to see their daughter go to Prison. In few weeks that will be the end of the matter. case will be dropped and police themselves are settled. NIGERIA AND ALL THE SUPER CORRUPT |
CORRUPTION CORRUPT ABSOLUTELY THEY ARE BUNCH OF MEGA THIEVES. IT IS TIME TO START SOMETHING ABOUT THIS MASSIVE CORRUPTION |
SEEK YEE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD EVERYTHING ELSE WILL BE ADDED. FIND A WORKABLE AND EFFECTIVE SOLUTION TO CORRUPTION FIRST AND ALL OUR PROBLEM WILL BECOME SMALL. EFFECTIVE SOLUTION TO CORRUPTION IS THE ANSWER. THE ONLY THING THAT WORK IN NIGERIA IS CORRUPTION SYSTEM. IT IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE SINCE 1960. IT HASN'T FAILED LIKE NEPA/PHCN POWER. THINK NIGERIANS FOR EFFECTIVE AND WORKABLE SOLUTIONS TO CORRUPTION AND THE REST WILL BE IN OUR HISTORY BOOKS. |
beninman:You seems to make a good point. However, I think maybe in doing this, one time one off amnesty to be offerred to ones that are prepare to co-operate and declare and return all the loot. failing that I suggest that the first round of the trial and execution is to pick eqaul number of people from each tribe as an example. The purpose is to show the country itis not about any part of the country being deliberately persecuted. By the time we got to the first maybe second full round public bar beach style execution, you will see people coming out to declare and prepare to return their ill gotten loot. NIGERIANS ESPECIALLY THE BIG GUNS DON'T WANT TO DIE. We need to start a fresh, there are more corruption in Nigeria that we dare admitt even among the people who are suppossed to guide our faith. (religious leaders) Now., also what to do with the Armed forces because they are the most corrupt and also have the guns. What also about the law enforcement agents especially the police, they are the Champion of corruption. Guys, like I said before change is never going to be easy. We need a visinoary leader. The whole thing is not about revenge on the people who have done the country wrong but to send a message that you cannot get away with anything in this country. Let us all keep coming up with other ideas. And I will say to you that we would only be truly free, happy and have alll the basic things in life that we need if only we are able to overcome this particular issue of reducing corruption drastically. you will notice that I have not said to eliminate it as that is nearly impossible but at least reduce it to a bare minimum. WITHOUT ERADICATION OF CORRUPTION ALL THE YAPPING OF OUR MOUTH WILL NOT GET US ANYWHERE. GOB BLESS NIGERIA AND HER PEOPLE |

Whether or not that the North is a parasite on the oil is one isssue another is the statement. we should all avoid statement that are inflamatory. The truth is a that a lot of our brothers and sisters in the North need more education as the governor has rightly pointed out including the Governor of Adamawa state. If the governor of Adamawa is what they can produce as a Governor up north, then they have a long way to go. The oil issues is one of the way the Niger Delta are trying to fight back as the local people did not see much benefits in what is being extracted from their backyard and fantastic development is happening in other areas especially in the North. That is what the unfairness which lead to that statement- which in my opinion is highly inflamatory. As of today, well over 90% of our income is from oil, so the North can make more noise than they like, the fact remains that it is this oil monies that is propping their govt. The south south will not need to go to hell with the Oil, the north should stop taking Federal allocation and allows the south south to have them for their own development. By the way I am not from the south south. so I am being objective. Two wrong does not make a right, both are two extreme statements. we should be finding a way to work together not against each other. what a very stupid comment to make. have you been to the state and seen what he has accomplished especially compared to his predecessor? not only did he rise to be a chief of naval staff, he is a very respected rtd admiral who did a great job as governor of Niger. and please can you tell us how amazing your own state and governor are? i am sick and tired of some southern nigerian idiots who seem to think they're better than everyone in the north. we did vote for him and are proud of what he's doing. when your state is up to standard then you can come back in here and make noise, for now please stick to what you know, that just so happens not to be Adamawa I am not suprised at your comment. But surely you sound more inteeligent than that Governor Nyarko not minding whether or not he has been a Naval or Airman officer. Most in the The Nigerian Armed forces including officers got to where they are historically because of contacts and connections. I will let ordinary folks on this forum try to listen to that Governor from Adamawa, you will be shocked. A friend actually calls me yesterday at this Northern Governors meeting on AIT. He should have been speaking his local dialects rather than English. He is pathethic, infact an illiterate and quite frankly a disgrace to Nigeria. If that is your Governor that makes you an idiot for calling southerners idiot Compare that to Aliyu banbangida, he doesn't speak Queens English but very coherent, intelligent and thoughtful. Although I am not surprised because he went to proper school and got a PHD. For the North to progress, you need a lot of Aliyu babangida- Niger state Governor. You will find that your comment is the one that is stupid once you have the opportunity to watch Gov. Nyarko speaks like a drunkard. He is the one with 2 'first ladies' attending diffrent functions. That smarts isn't it. |
There is a saying that a drastic issue require drastic measures. We are getting very close to when corruption and fraudlulent practice may become a death penalty issues because the whole fabric of society is weaken because of inadequate or inability to enforce strict penalty. In some countries and sometimes back in Nigeria, if you are caught with drugs is death penalty. And i will argue that a corrupted person/fraudster is no different from a drug courier. I truly appreciate that everybody is coming up with something and hopeful we will be able to reach some consensus and somehow the willpower to carry it out. I think the Military has missed a good opportunity to do this. Bhuari and Idiagbon tried and Nigerians were complaining, now see where we are now. Everybody should keep thinking on the best solutions. As it has been suggested early on by Big B1 (whom I never agree anything with as he is IBB biggest supporter) but i agree with him completely on this one with respect to his long list. 90% + are corrupt or open to corruption or being corrupted. Lord have mercy |
FINDING AN EFFECTIVE AND WORKABLE SOLUTIONS TO CORRUPTION IN MY OWN HUMBLE OPINION IS THE SECRET TO REBIRTH OF A NEW NATION THAT WILL THRIVE FOR ALL OF US. WE CAN ALL YAWN OUR MOUTH AS MUCH AS WE LIKE WITHOUT FINDING A WORKABLE SOLUTION TO CORRUPTION WE MAY ALL DIE IN IT. GOD OF MIRACLES WE ASK YOU TO COME NOW. |

Abagworo:You have just nail the thing on the head. However, you cannot separate those zones from their political base. The 6 zones I have in mind is an establishment of a big bussiness zone in the middle of each 6 geo political zones so that business and trades will flourish and decisions will be made locally. it will relieve Lagos, Abuja and portharcourt and businesses will be local to people. Also transport link like rail, airports and road network linking these business zones will make it more viable than all those small lands called states when all the governors do is take federal allocation and distribute it among party stalwart, their friends, families and good night to everybody else. The business zones should be privately run like a business to make profits as in a PLC. Whether or not our so called 'servant leaders' has the vision is another matter because the only song they have learn to sing is 2020 Vision and 7 point agenda. if you press them properly they will tell you that it is what they have been told to say to the people. |
6 geo political zone map please- can someone upload it |
HR.hotness:Who will carry this out? especially that the major law enforcement agencies are the foundation and captain of corruption. What about our judiciary? will they be up to the job Assuming there is statute of limitation for the benefits of those criminal, how far back are we going to go to prosecute any offender. I am thinking of possible either partial or total amnesty depending on whether each of the indicted criminals give full and frank disclosure with reparation and forfeiture of assets, failure to do so will lead to the judgement being enforced. As an example if someone comes out to declare their ill gotten wealth, and refund it, they will get suspended sentence from (maybe a life imprisonment) and if any of their ill gotten wealth is not fully declared or refunded then their punishment takes effect immediately. There is a chance of 90% people getting convicted. |
@ deor03 what is China way? @ Deep soul I know like many nigerians you and I are all frustrated but let us be serious for once and stop this comedy. Blowing up national assebmly etc is unlikely to solve and problem in my view unless you can shed more light on what help that may give. |
There is corruption everywhere in Nigeria, that is not a news from the Federal to state, local govt, public parastatal, public and private companies, to families and individuals. We need to find an effective and actionable soultions rather than bashing because talk is cheap and anybody can yawn their mouth to put down further our country which is already down. I am asking well meaning Nigerians to debate and bring forward not just solutions BUT ACTIONABLE AND EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS. We should be objective and not go after a particular person or individual but look at each type of corruption and proffer effective and actionable immediately workable solutions starting from Now. Please put on your thinking cap and lets get thinking. let me assure you that this alone is the begining of the end of problem in Nigeria. God bless you. |
@ okija-juju Ara ga Gba ndi Ara : what language is that and what does it mean Posted by: Okija_juju Is Nigeria worth living in?? Hmm!! First of all I'll say. , , , , .Bleep NO!!! You are entitle to your opinion on whether or not Nigeria is worth living in or not but using that type of language you are using makes you less better thaan our so called 'leaders who are the ones leading us to nowhere' make your point and show your digust but in a gentleman like. God bless you. @ poster I understand your frustrations like millions of Nigerians but there are wider issues which I intend to start another thread for discussion which will enlighten us better. Even if one day you live overseas and live there for a considerable period of time, you will discover that home is always home and as you lay your bed you will lie on it, infact charity begins at home. Unless Nigeria is good people all over the world we accord you less respect wherever you may go. In my own humble opinion Nigeria will be worth living In by God's will in a short period of time from Now. Now it is very difficult for many reasons. |
The right wing conspiracy is to find something somehow to derail OBAMA . With respect some of it is a disguise racism. The article is to pierce OBAMA's veil and strong defence First, the guy OBAMA is better than any of the Republican party candidate and I dare say even better than all of them put together. Secondly, the Republican party brand is seriously damaged as a result of a combination of dumb President GW Bush , rightwing ideological warfare, also fighting the wrong wars in the name of International terrorism/islamic terrorrsim. Where is their WMD when even a secondary school student knows that there are no WMD before invasion, they later change the reason for invading Iraq to be Regime change. (if I may ask, how is regime change the business of USA) More importantly, the economy is stupid thanks to spending well over $1 Trillion dollars in a phoney war in Iraq, loosing over 4000 US soldiers and well over 100,000 iraqis. All the US infrastractures has not got the benefits of modernisation. For OBAMA to be President he has to do more than an average white candidate will do. Think about it, in a normal situation how do you put an energetic/charistmatic 46 years old against a 72years old geriatic to face each other. If Obama did not blow out Mccain in a landslide comes November, it will simply means that America is still struggling with Black as in Race. if Obama can thump the Clinton machine with all their juggernut, even a damaged article called Republican party will fight dirty but should not necessarily prevail. The bottom line is that the GOP is just looking for help everywhere to derail OBAMA election. They underestimate the guy because he is skinny and 'lack experience', but all those experience with others has not resulted in good judgement. There are a lot of codes trying to make the guys elitist and aloof, out of touch and not a ordinary guy to have beer with. His biography suggested otherwise. Think about it, a blackman without all those family name and connection. CHANGE IS NOT EASY BUT IT IS COMING TO AMERICA. TO ELECT A BLACKMAN/BI-RACIAL MAN AS PRESIDENT OF USA IS A BIG CHANGE THAT IS WHY ALL THESE RESISTANCE. Expect the GOP to throw the kitchen sink like Hillary Clinton did, but my instinct tells me that it will fail as it does with Hillary. Just another predicition, he will appoint Evan Bayh as his VP and win alll the states won by Kerry and win Indiana and Colorado, propably lose New hampshire and scored 271 Electoral votes at minimum. If everything goes well, he may even win N Mexico, nevada OHIO, Virginina and even North carolina. The whole purpose of the trip is to see how President OBAMA will look in the photo against world leader and I predict he will look well and the world will get used to it. |
Texcee:While he was the deputy governor he is being learning from his boss dariye, and as soon as he is made the acting governor he perfected his act stealing just N1.5 billion naira @ the rate of N300 million per month or N10 million a day. I can forsee his defence in mitigation, ' my boss Dariye takes at least N1 billion a month, so I only take a third each month' The truth is that our political system allow for too many thieves calling themselves lawmakers(as in Dishonourable members or Senators, Governor or President. They sound to me like lawbreakers more than anything else |
