PoliticsRe: Umaru Yar'adua: My Election Not Free And Fair by vigasimple(m): 2:51pm On Jun 16, 2007
To everyone here

1. The comparism drawn with the US election is that it was rigged and nobody went to war, the loser have a choice, either not to conceed and go to Court. He choose to conceed.

IN nigeria case, the main oppositions has not formally conceeded, and can go to court.

2. The fact that election is flawed does not mean it is not fair even though it may not be free, because, the same opposition would do worst if they have similar position

3. Running an election is complicated, time consuming, costs and security inside and outside. Paralysis of day to day business of ordinary people making a living.

What I think is that some aggrieved sympathiser of the oppositions are expecting was riot, violence and all sort of bringing the country to a halt and they were disappointed. OBJ threw a masterstroke on day of inauguration of Yar Adua (UMY) he declare public holiday and get everone to sit at home and don't come out to cause trouble or be used to cause trouble.

There are so may things we have to do in Nigeria to get the election anywhere near free and fairer.
Certainly the first will be our orientation and purpose of being elected. If everyone want to be elected because of 'National cake' election will continue to be rubbish.

But If people want to serve and can show their credentials and credibility, then things will be different.

Come 4 years unless the debate is carried out now with necessary reform in place, we are simply wasting our time. It will propably be the same.

God continue to bless me and our Great country Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: 'Olusegun Adeniyi' Of Thisday Now Yar'adua's Spokesman! How Interesting! by vigasimple(m): 2:18pm On Jun 16, 2007
Yes you are right.

To sacrifice one principle for political appointment is corrupt and opportunism. But hey, my friend the chances that you will do the same given the opportunity, at least in my humble opinion 90%, if not more.

There are various dubious reasons, Wife, friends and family pressure

Be nominated or persuaded by your peer groups.

There are geniue reasons for taking such post/appointment- to try and change things within.

On the wider picture of unconstitution or illegitimate govt- I completely disagree, this govt may have been elected on a doubtful votes,He Yar Adua was declared the winner, sworn in as the President and commander in chief. Even though I think PDP has not make so much progress than they can make but the oppostion would have been worst.

Anybody who disagree with that can go to Election Tribunal or court and get redress

A good example is OBi getting judgement to unseat a governor elected in Anambra state after UBA has been declared the winner and sworn in.

With greatest of respect, I don't know the man Yar Adua and it doesn't matter even if I know him. According to most press and geniue observer, he is better than alll the candidate sthat has been put forward and parading themselves as alternatives.

Infact some of this opposition are just looking for opportunity to be in power.

So in the final anaylsis it may be better for Adeniyi to campaign within in changing our constituional framework and the electroal system than being outside without anyone listening.

I hope he will go there and give word of wisdom to the President and tell him what the ordianry Nigerians problems are and what the press are saying.

Let us give all the support to build this fragile democracy.

May God be with me, bless me,have mercy upon me, save my soul and our Great country Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: As Atiku Abubakar Is Back In The Country What Is Next? by vigasimple(m): 4:52pm On Jun 14, 2007
Excuse my lack of clarity,

Atiku back in the country, to resume office, and I ask as what ?

The has been election which he contestedand lost, and Yar Adua and Jonathan have been sworn as the new administration as prescibed by the constitution. He like OBJ are in the past, they are Ex President and EX VP. Good night.

Atiku like everyone else is now an ordinary citizen, he is welcome back to his country.

If he does not agee with the election, he can either go to the tribunal or the court.

The court has always been fair to him and give him judgemnet time after time against the former govt which includes the one that enable him to contest the presidential election which he lost in a landslide or avalanche if you care to call it that.

May God continue to be with me, help me, bless me, be merciful unto me, my family, friends, nairaland mates and the entire country of Nigeria.

Forward forever, back never and ever again.
PoliticsRe: Do You Believe In The Nigeria Dream? by vigasimple(m): 2:37pm On Jun 14, 2007
yes, I do

and I disagree with frenchman

You have to have a dream, a vision before the reality. You must set yourself a purpose and goals

These are all the fruits of dreams and vision

Whether or not a dream becomes reality or a nightmare is another matter.

If you read the Bible assuming you are christian or lover of christ or just curious. The Lord gave a blessing to the nations of the world.

he said that 'we would dream dreams, and prophesy and see vision'

First, I want not only frenchman, manmenta and all nigerians to dream, but to think creatively and out of the box on how to bring the dream to realityin our country.

The planes we fly all over the world today was as a result of people dreaming that wouldn't it be wonderful if we were able to fly non stop to A or B at one point. Those were some people dream a little less than 100 years ago. They ahve now become a reality. What are your dreams?

let us all dream of nigeria being the greatest country in the world with the fear and love of God and compassion for our fellow countrymen.

The facts that our immediate and past leadership has not given us anything to celebrate does not mean we should not dream.

Without hope and dreams, there is no life.

May God continue to love and bless me, and be merciful to me and people on this site, my family all over the world and our country Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: How Lucky Is Goodluck? by vigasimple(m): 2:09pm On Jun 14, 2007
May be there is something in a name afterall.

My own view and opinion that this man name should be changed to Dr. Verygoodluck Lucky.

My prophesy is that it wouldn't stop there, somehow history has a way of repeating itself especially with lucky people, this guy would ended up being the President durng this dispensation, how and when I cannot tell you.

Fortunately enough he is an Ijaw man of niger delta and well educated, cool headed and can learn, humble and just simple and ordinary.

I am not an Ijaw man but a Nigeria who recognises the type of talent we need in running a successful country as available in Dr. Goodluck Lucky Jonathan.

May God continue to bless me, be merciful to me and my country Nigeria and her people.

PoliticsRe: 'Nigeria Can Save $500m Without Fuel Hike' by vigasimple(m): 12:33am On Jun 12, 2007
UNless Denex is an expert in this field, I think that organisation should be invited to give a brief indication of how they intend to save the country money.

My own opinion is that whilst the US nigerian owned organisation may have good intentions, those that lead us and not known to like to be 'taken out of control' because they get their cut from petrol monies.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I out instinct believe this company can do what they said whether they are given the opportunity is another matter.

Even when given the opportunity whether the govt implement the recommendation is another matter.

One day my wonderful Lord Jesus Christ will deliver us from our political slavemasters who are only interested in themselves alone.

May God shower his merciful blessing upon ordinary Nigerians.
PoliticsRe: Turakin Adamawa Is Coming On Thursday! by vigasimple(m): 12:24am On Jun 12, 2007
Whether or not they arrest Atiku will depend on any evidence the police or EFCC has against him.

Now that he doesn't have immunity anymore he can be arrested like any other citizen that has committed offence if there is such evidence to that effect.

One thing is clear OBJ has proved Atiku wrong by handing over power(albeit maybe because of ATIKU and co pressure!)

Atiku is in my opinion is taking off from America before the authority there start to chase him to explain his connection with Jeffreson, the congressman charge with bribery last week

I personally don't think he would be arrested if when he return to Nigeria. Not for want of evidence but for 3 things in particular.

1. He would have got a green light signal or assurances from Yar Adua or their mother(yar Adua's mum) that they should let the sleeping dog lie

2.Yar Adua is still trying to consolidate his government but will not want anything that we start to test it from the North

3.If he is arrested and put on trial Atiku can rock pDP boat and start to name names.

Since the FBi may be interested in him at some near future the EFCC we rather let somebody do their dirty job for them. But Atiku knew that Nigeria and America(if i am correct) don't have extradition treaty so it is in Atiku interest to come to Nigeria and keep his head down, that is the end.

I hope Atiku has no skeleton and can clear himself but who is going to arrest him nor try him, afterall people like IBB 'got away' with their 'sin(s)'

Let us find a way to get reconcillation if all the politician's who has any of our monies can return them.

May God be with Nigeria and continue to bless her and her people.
Christianity EtcRe: The Big Lie Of Contemporary Christianity by vigasimple(m): 7:44pm On Jun 11, 2007
If I am a scientist or any other profession or as any other intelligent person, i will be more inclined to tell you that Christinaity or some other religion will be here for a very very long time if not forver.

There was no christianity until birth of christ and 2007 years after his death and ascencion to heaven, christianity is still here.

Strangely enough some people want to prophesis and believe it will come to pass when that did not come from GOd. OVER a thousand years ago people have said that repeatedly and they are wrong, and you will be proven wrong in the fullness of time

Whether you like it or not christianity we be here many hundred if not thousands of years after ther peron with this thread will have departed from this world.

Please give your life to Christ, there you will find a good friend, you will have salvation and know everlasting peace.

Blasphemy will get you on the wrong path. May the peace of the Almighty God, our supreme father be with you in the name of our lord Jesus Christ. Remain bless and connected .
PoliticsRe: Umaru Yar'adua: My Election Not Free And Fair by vigasimple(m): 12:10pm On Jun 11, 2007
Again I will take as lightly diffrent approach and persectives on this issue.

Look election, is not free but it is popably fair even if you call it selection.

Yar Adua would still have won no matter what. We have an hopless oppostion and confused as well.  Among all of them is the most potent and the one that have diginity is yar adua and he and OBJ admit the flaws

People like Atiku and Bhuari will just think is the Nigeria thing or factor as they like to call it and will never admit flaws if they have been president.

What we need is how to move forward and run a better election next time,. If anybody want to challenge this, they can go tribunal or court.

By way of digression the North are hellbent on having the power back, they are not going to court as their man is there. Anyway from the little we know of Yar Adua, he is a decent man and well educated. He has also offer an olive branch to the oppostion to consider govt of national unity. He doesn't have to he got well over 70% of the vote, even if you discount some filled ballot boxes, he will still win.

As bad as PDP, the opposition does not have answer to persuade Nigerians. For example if they have gave a credible way they are going to fix electrictity they may have a chance but their candidate will still let them down.

The other question is whether he is strong enough or  a 'bully' enough to stand up to  Nigeria 'political class and thugs' only time will tell.

WE should be debating our future on how to make things better, cancelling, annulling election only has a reverse consequences of good. IBB and Abacha has proved the point before.

We hope that more decent candidate with clear vision will emerge in the future.

Election is not free but the result strangely is fair to well meaning Nigerians.Do you think Nigerian's will willingly elect Bhuari or Atiku, they will have to have rig massively themselves or buy their way into Aso Rock.

God continue to bless Nigeria
PoliticsRe: Dear Yar Adua I Can Solve Nepa Problem: by vigasimple(m): 5:15am On Jun 10, 2007
If Tinubu want to stop you marrying your wife and you agree to that without challenging his authority in court then maybe you can't even solve electricity problem.

Believe it or not the Yorubas are the most liberal in Nigeria, they carel ess who marries who, those are the choices of the parties to the marriage and good luck.

May be we should arrange to go and see Yar Adua and put this proposal me and you to him on how we are going to solve the problem.

Me. I am not an engineer, I am into Real Esatate, Project mangement and Finance. I am a lawyer by training and I am based in the UK.

Impossiblity is not part of my dictionary because my father controls everything including all words and he told me to cross out impossibilty from my dictionary. Difficult sometimes but not always.

You need more skill than just being an engineer, we may need to get Frank Nweke jnr to sell us to Nigeria, and good marketing people to support him.

Also damn good Terminator through prayers to deal with generator and diesel boys becasue those are clog in our ways.

anyway drop me a line when you are ready.

GOd continue to be with Nigeria and bless her people
PoliticsRe: Umaru Yar'adua: My Election Not Free And Fair by vigasimple(m): 5:00am On Jun 10, 2007
This is really funny, but the best man got selected maybe not elected

Let me tell you Bankole that even if the election was conducted free and fair Yar Adua would propably still win.

What OBJ did was a political masterstroke, look at the opposition they are propably not as good asYar Aua but they will have bought their way to Aso Rock,

IN any event each poltical party outrig each other in their own states.

AS for unfair and non free election remember George W. Bush and the hanging chard. He rigged his election during his first term.

However, now that Yar Adua was honest enough like OBJ did to accept that election was a joke. forming a goverment of national unity is more important now.

Thereafter. well qualified and officially paid oppostion is essential to check PDP goverment.

Electoral reforms and independence is a must.

JawJaw is better than warwar, we should move forward slowly surely we will get there by GOd's grace.
PoliticsRe: What Happens To Ikwerre If Igbo Secedes From Nigeria by vigasimple(m): 4:49am On Jun 10, 2007
THis man than ran away to America and talking of seccestion, come to Nigeria and repeat this thing you are saying. then we shall see if you will be able to return to America.

I suspect you were trying to apply for political asylum in America and you need justification of your reason fro persecution but self inflicated persecution will not be allowed.

The Rivers, Delta and the Ijaws I can tell you authoritatively are not least intrested in your seccestion plan, they are not sure what can of person you are and that you will simply try to Lord yourselves on them

You have freedom of speech, come to Naija and let us see.

PoliticsRe: Who Do You Believe Won The April Presidential Elections by vigasimple(m): 4:34am On Jun 10, 2007
Just watching the proceeding from a neutral point of view.

If for shouting sake and ability to waste money all thing be equal Atiku may have a shout but then Bhuari tried.

In the end OBJ has done a political masterstroke in political manouvering.

Yar Adua would still win it hands down.

This is a clever game by OBJ in selecting Yar Adua, he is from a know Political family so acceptable to the north

From the south point of view he is not an original PDP or if you care to call it NPN or Republican, he is more of a democrat or Liberal, and if in UK the Labour party, He is from the old PRP of late Aminu Kano.

Secondly Yar Adua according to most press observer has done well in his state and he is the only one of the few Governors that declare his asset on coming to office as a Governor.

Now OBJ master stroke is that he choose a Kastina man to neuralise Bhuari (from Kastina)another heavy weight candidate (who strictly speaking has nothing to offer Nigeria. He also neutralise Atiku because Sheu Yar Adua the brother of Umaru Yar Adua is the political mentor of Atiku and yar adua mother is their mother all from an heavy weight political family. Atiku neutralised. Both are unable to attack Yar Adua ferociously as they would of any other candidate.

Finally, Umar Yar Adua is not as controversial as all the rest, then OBJ got Goodluck JOnathan from South South to pacify the south south. case is close. Rememebr Goodluck has always been lucky and I think he will end of being President before the end of this term. Do not ask me how, he did it in Bayelsa, histroy has a way of repeating itself maybe this time in different way.

Again Yar Adua is a gentleman compare to the others, look at a full time Pastor running for Presidncy in a country like Nigeria, no chance, there are too many intricacies. Yar Adua as part of the old Kaduna mafia(which in reality is Katsina Mafia) was also used in checkmating IBB.

That man OBJ has some political wisdom propably GOd given. He failed in other directions though notably electricty and the aborted 3rd time, he shoukd have simply groomed good candidates from both the south east and south south maybe even the North.

Look, in any other country apart from NIgeria PDP will not be contesting election let alone campaiging, they spent 8 years they cannot fix electricity. PDP NO Power, No light. Shame on them

Seriously I hope Yar ADua do declare state of emergency on Electricity and get it fixed.

Also PDP won because they were vigorously campaigining even though they lack a lot of credibility but they won the election because of the economic reform and EFCC doing a good job even they were selective Trials. But they got IGP conviction first in the history of Nigeria, Africa or indeed any country, NO IGP anywhere in the world has gone to prison.

The oppossition know they are not credible and that they are going to loose election and they were busy saying there will be no election OBJ didn't want to, he would't hand over. Again they forget history tends to repeat itself. They got it badly wrong. OBJ handover once he will do it again

If ATIKU and BHuari has joined together in the last election with Bhuari as President and ATiku again as VP they would have won as they will wrong foot PDP but they were too busy nothing want to conceed the President position. ATIKU is the biggest loser, he would have kept his immunity, spend 4-8years as VP got to President and no EFCC or FBI indictment, the guy got too big and greedy, he loose out more than any other candidate.

On the whole the next to the best man emerge even though the election was not perfect.

To my 2 sister, I understand Militia, she phock hard but the other one is propably too vulgar with her name, she reminded me of men who talk loudly of their actions in bed,we know them as non perfomer when it comes to action, beleive me I suspect that one from Maryland Yankee is in my humble opinion a big basket mouth less of action(not that I want to be left in a room with her-as I cannot trust her ways, I think she propably harrass than the real thing).

Anyway good luck but do remeber to change your name. If you want something specifically ask for it on this site, believe me there will be volunteers and takers. (definitely not the one for me)

May God continue to bless Nigeria and her people.
PoliticsRe: 99% Of Nigerians Are Corrupt And Dubious by vigasimple(m): 7:52pm On Jun 09, 2007
I must disagree with you.

I think less than 25% are corrupt and dubious. The once are the most vocal and steal  99% of the monies and stupid enough to get caught like Alam, Atiku and his congressman friend.

Because of the poverty and ordinary people seeing what is going on in the country, they either check out and unable to get the mentality quickly out of the system once abroad or
remain in nigeria and try to find themselves in politics, public office or big company and start stealing, even the police are the expat in corruption imagine successive IGP stealing over 1Bilion naira.

PDTF monies changing hands like foreing exchange shop.

There is one foul cry that the whole world does on Nigeria particularly the develop world. It is not an excuse but they gang up with our leaders and abuse us once they have stolen our monies. They have to talk us down for it is part of the tool of economic warfare so that once we are not credible we cannot rise and our people fall for it and that is why the person who started this thread fall for it. Nigerias are slightly corrupt more than the average people over the world but the diffrence is not even up to 10% diffrent

Some days ago British were said to have given a Saudi Prince about £1Billion pounds, so are they more corrupt than Nigerians or vice versa.

SOLUTIONS

Funny enough is simple.

1. credible leaders with vision.
2. Build basic and relaible infrastructure- electricty , good schools, hospital and good road network, cheap food.

Once people have this we would be able to isolate greed and thieves.

Most people who encourage their family to steal in govt is due partly to extreme suffereing they expreienced and they need some 'social security'

In England some 15-20 years ago I remember people used to steal Video recorder or car stereo and sell it for peanuts as it is not generally available, now nobody even take them if you leave them outside your door.

Once people have basic things and generally clean leaders you will see.

God will bless Nigeria and her people we shall arise and shine and every negative ways or labelling in our lives we cast you out in the name of the mighty GOd. Amen
RomanceRe: My Fiancee Earns More Than Me And It's Making My Life Miserable by vigasimple(m): 7:04pm On Jun 09, 2007
This chap has not say the thing that is making him miserable other than the fact that his fiancee is earning more than he does.

Reading between the lines, I think the woman may be arrogant or make an issue out of earning more than him. There are lot of naija womaen that would do that, they will even ended up having disrespect for the man.

Howver, if it simply that you think (as men in Naija ) in the past has to earn more than his wife to be the 'boss' then you have to reassess yourself.

If she loves you honestly and you love her same way, the more she earn the easier it becomes for the relationship especially if she is submissive and see you as her best friend. so you have a team before you are married, she will encourage you, challenge you to earn more.

Like someone said if you can study and earn more it will challenge her also to a greater height.

See your pastor to pray with you first to find out if this is the lady God has given to you and if so even if you are house husband your life will be at peace and nothing will shake you. she will love you to her death and same you will do. If she is not for you from God even if you are richer than Bill Gate you are wasting your time.

SUMMARY.

1. Find out from GOD through prayers if she the person for you.

2. If you have anything that is bothering you about her that is making your life misrable because of more income take her out and show your love and affection and discuss it with her.

3. But if it is nothing to do with her, only your ego, complexity or your personal problem, after 1 above deal with, you may even in a joking way sugggest it to her to help you.

4, Finally, pray together for God to make you brother and sisters and best of friends. Imagine if your sister earn 100 times more than you, she will not just stop being your sister because of that neither will you stop being her brother.

Secondly, if you are already married you are not going to want out simply because she is earning more than you. In any event it is temporary, if you work hard you may be earning more than her tommorrow. once you are a team and a single item it doesn't matter.

If there are other matters you should be a man enough to say and stop all these woman on this site yabbing you. majority of them would start becoming pompus and arrogant once they earn more than their partner anyway.

some good woman would even use the monies to look after you and your home and plan together, but majority of naija men and women still have the old ways.

May God be with you and your fiancee and grant you wisdom in dealing with each.
Don't think of breaking up unless God said she is not the one for you.

The good Lord be with you. Amen
PoliticsRe: 'I Will Create Products For Every Businessman!' by vigasimple(m): 5:20pm On Jun 09, 2007
The way I see this country is that we have abundant of talent and human resources but there some people at the top who for one reason or the other have not allow Nigeria to take off.

Let me give you simple examples.

Conducive economic atmosphere is what the govt are required to create but not work per se, becasue in case of Nigeria as most develop country has done, the govt has no business in business maybe in our education and health sector as that is a diffrent ball gme. But even that public and private partnership will do well.

If the govt decided and take action to build a future proof Electricity and transport networks especially Rail system and road networks, I can guarrantee you poverty will be halved if not by 60-70% and that is factoring in people who are lazy or don't want to work.

The Nigeria eceonomy is still in its infancy and to the point I will call it Virgin, For example there are less than 10 viable airliner in Nigeria or less than 20 good Airports when we have 36 states

To SEun and all the wonderful contributors on this site, I can assure you whether the enemies like it or not, including our near 'useless' govt we will be great by God's grace, we just need good debate, constructive criticsm of the system and ourselves and practical suggestion and solutions. we need to be a team and our nations keeper. pray for her all the time.

I profess that something radical upwards will happen to Nigeria in the next 10 years. part of it is to do with the International community via the web. Look everybody on this site live many miles and country apart. An Ibo man yabbing a Yoruba and Hausaman and vice versa. So are all the other tribes and non Nigerians who are either married to Nigerians or lover of Nigeria. And thank God we can see each other there would have being some blow flying left right and centre, but we still respect ech others, that is important and great

If I want I can have friends all over the world without leaving my sitting room whao.

As Sir Winston Churchill has once remarked JawJaw is better than WarWar. So if the Ijaw people are making noise like the IGbo people is better than warwar which is simply scandalous it is done in the name of the Nigerdelta but not for the benefits of the Nigerdelta.

Let us Yab each others out of love, it is fun, we would even be able to share joke together and love one another. Believe me you cannot harm the ones you love only the ones you hate.

Don't anybody fool us, whether you are a Tiv, Efik, Ijaw, Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa or whatever, be it Fulani. There even Enligbo, yorubaIBo, or BendelIBO, HausaIBO, whether by marriage or intertribal child or children, or even your religion we are one and we should respect our point of diagreement

May God continue to uphold and bless Nigeria and her people.
PoliticsRe: Have You Ever Pray For God To Bless Nigeria? by vigasimple(m): 11:42am On Jun 09, 2007
Unfortunately a lot of people are too selfish and self centered that praying for their country does not even cross their mind let alone doing it when it does cross their mind.

They fail to see that praying for your country help the situation a lot.

Apart from the Americans praying for their country becasue they have strong religious base as the British, the British national anthem is praying daily for the Queen and country.

They knew without their country, their existence in the said country is not possible.

May God bless Nigeria and continue to be with her and her people. That is my prayer all the time.

We should start saying it and we shall all see what will happen.
PoliticsRe: Breaking News : 'oga Na Thief Man': Why Ex-ig Ehindero Moved His Loot So Late by vigasimple(m): 11:30am On Jun 09, 2007
I am disappointed in anybody who does not know that the Nigeria police are corrupt from Top to bottom, it is a competition. Have you not see a policemen even on the street at checkpoint/roadblock be it legal or illegal demanding for money whether or not the driver as done something wrong

There are many reasons for it but not necessary the justification.

SOME REASONS

1. They are seriously underpaid and the criminal exploit this
2. Their boss, the politician do with monies like they have banks in their houses and police don't think they should be left behind
3.Policeman marrying many wives, many responsibilty to inlaws and 20children ( half who are bastard )
4. police are the product of the wider society who by the lack of credible system has turn on everyone to fight for their survival.

I can go on and on but there is no need. If you want to dare me I can even make a prediction that the current Ig by the time he lives (if not already) we will hear a not too disimmilar story.

If our police is such a good and respectable organisation we should not hear anything of such like this after the debacle of Tafa Balogun. All these people are in the system long enough and everybody know them with their character. This may even be the reason why the next man to Ehindero was never appointed IGP.

The police are the first cousins of the Custom and infact they have a wonderful working relationship and they love each others. Have you ever heared police and customs fighting, no, they are always into sharing.

SOLUTIONS

1. We need a credible goverment not based on rotation between North and the south

2. complete overhauling and restructure of the police service.

3. Look at Human resources of police and its management so that bad apples are weeded out.
4. Whistleblower police officers to be appointed and serious penalty giving to a police officer found guilty of misconduct including bribery and assisting criminals or conspiring with them.

5. Not to use the Head of the police as political tool during, before or after any election, and I hope they get their funding directly not through the presidency.

6. Educate the wider public on corruption

MOST IMPORTANTLY for the govt to provide

Infrastructure and oppportunity for the atmosphere for employment creation and businesses.

1. Good and quality affordable public schools and teachers getting paid and motivated

2. Accessible and free health care at all levels

3. Cheap foods in the market place

4. Employment provison
5. Atmosphere for bussiness to thrive

I hope others can contribute consructively and stop gossiping about thieves without finding the root cause and solutions.

God continue to bless Great Nigeria.

Hey

I hope the information is false like everyone and I think it is propably will be false, because if it is true it has serious implications for Intercontinetal and the bank secotor in particular and then raise the issue of trust in banks and the strrenght of the whole economy(to a certain extent)

It may be that they haven't paid some very few selected staff for some reasons or this rumor is being spread by a disgruntled employee or another bank(highly unlikely) who is a competitor.

Firstly all the banks are supposed to be doing well, they all have at least capital base of 25B Naira and all making insane profits.

If they don't pay their staff, then the staff would simply either go on industrial action or even loot the banks if they are criminally minded.

Anyway thanks for the info, if it is true may i go take the small change i got there.

Don't worry CBN will sort them out or the NSE or the market will react and deal with them

Biafaralord represent the views of the majority of our brothers and sisters in the East. We love them and want them to lead Nigeria but they haven't publicily, genuniely and sincerely renouce this brakeaway thing.

I will submit respectfully that the IBo's think that there is  strenght in Disunity. United we stand divided we fall is what the whole world knew.

people like biafralord having being overseas should encourage everyone to work for the greatness of Nigeria.

I for one and quite substantial nigerians think the power should have rotated to the Ibo's this time (2007)but everybody can't be sure what is in their mind even people can work it out without needing a crysat ball. They want to lead Nigeria and have Biafra. Thier Governors didd't even make the best of being governors.

Their people were schememing, they have 5 senate president in 8 years from 5 diffrent states simply because every local govt in the East want to be President. only in the east that everyone takes a title and call it Igwe1 and nobody is ever Igwe 2. If the East has got presidency we would have 5 president in 8 years from the evidence of what happen in the senate.

The other interesting propability is that were the East to have Biafra today within 5-10 years there will be CIafra, Diafra, Eifra etc. One family one president, look at the Uba family brothers fighting over governor and trying to keep every political position in the family.

The Ibo's I dare say are more tribalistic and clannish than any other tribe in NIgeria. For example the majority of the Ekendilichukwu Transporter are from Anambra and NWewi to be precise. It is like a cabal and mafia of the East come from Nnewi,- God bless Ojukwu, the Ikemba of Nnewi 1.

Let us make Nigeria a great and viabrant country and stop worrying on something that will create chaos and  make a mockrey of the black race.

May God continue to bless Nigeria and her people.

Ninetofive.

With respect you are missing the point.

I noted that once people start to talk about the rational behind Biafra they quickly think Biafra is the solution.

Let me tell you from the little I know about the people of the East(majority). They are still nourishing the idea of Biafra and at the same time want to be President of Nigeria, to be perfectly honest with you,the two are irreconcilable.

I spoke to a friend of mine from Imo state some days ago and he admitted what mosts Nigerains of diffrent tribe suspect or fear that the Ibo man wants to become president and launch Biafra.

Let me say to you if The South East succedded in Biafra today before 10 years there will be Ciafra, Diafra, Eiafra an so on and so forth. Every local govt area want to be president if only on 1 clan.

Also the Ibo's with sincere respect are the most clanish of all the tribe. If anybody be it Yourab, Hausa, Efik, Tiv were to spend 100years in Iboland , born bread and raised there he or she cannot become anything there.

The Hausa's if you speak their language and you are a moslem and call yourselves Aminu Bauchi, believe me you are theirs.

If you go to any Yoruba Town and make your point, grow up there and speak the language, you can do and undo especially if you know how to dance owanmbe, run your business and know the elders, There are small concern about being able to do things freely for diffrent reasons.

If an Ibo man and to some extent an Hausaman is in aposition they simply bring their own people even where they originally do not come from same area to the detriment of the other people.

Education, Education, education, Love and respect, intermarriage and Fear of God will unite us, not fear or some people promoting divison or break away

May God continue to bless Nigeria and her people and grant our leaders wisdom.

Appointing Kingibe whatever his experience with ihs record and background is a backward steps.

The future is clear from examples of OBJ second term. He pick Young and intelligent, creative people and Nigeria make some progress in the right directions.

Leopard does not change its spot. Kingibe has nothing to offer Nigeria and I always love to be prove wrong.

This are men who only eat isi ewu and drink and what follows from there. They only see the country as their milk and honey supply.

At the end of the day, I think if Yar Adua wants to make progress this man should be out within 100 days at most.

Also the younger ones are hungry, full of ideas and energy and should be made to contribute. Infact if the next president should be more than 45years I will think something is seriously wrong with Nigeria.

Tony Blair came to power in the UK when he was 42 and now look jaded and tired after 10 years and he is only 52 years old. The business of running the state always weigh you down not unless you are the Prseident of Nigeria who only hold fruitless meeting and appointing retarded people.

Anyway let us continue to pray for our President for the Lord to grant him wisdom and favours in his decisons as some of them will have irreversible consequences. whatever decision he make in the Name of our good Lord will be beneficial for Nigeria even if he is not thinking like that. Our future is important than any single person

Long Live Nigeria and may God bless her and her people.

Militia,

Population makes every production viable, the larger the population you have the more consumption and production costs will be cheaper in the long run and cost of producing a particular products/services is quickly recoup more than if you have less people.

It also encourage inward investments because companies know they have more people to promote their goods and services to and they have the oportunity to sell.

2020 is a year being targeted for Nigeria to be among the first 20 economy of the world.

Present situation calls for drastic measures. Yar Adua promised to declare national emergency on electrictity. I will say that he propably need more and may need to declare war on everythingg and everybody disturbing the flow of electrictity.

On the other issue of serving your country, there is no limit that you can give your country as long as others are doing the same. Whether you like it or not you will come back to Nigeria very soon and you will like to and love it. I live where I live (overseas) for the last 20 years, and home is where the heart is.

Sojourn(abroad) will never be like home even for our children. we are missing a lot and have the opportunity to say we did our best to our motherland and leave a footprint.

God continue to rescue and bless Nigeria and make her Great

Dear Nigerai 1,

firstly, I like that name it shows that your thinking patrotically. Though that name should be reserved for our President whoever it maybe at any particular time. Just about a week ago it was OBJ now it is Yar Adua.

I salute your courage, believe and can do attitude.

Look I am not an Engineer, let alone an electrical engineer, but I can equally fix power problem.

There are Scientific/enginerring problem, there are business problem and political problem and finally anti-nigeria problem. The corrupt Nepa, Generatoe Dealse and Diesel dealers, their cohorts and collaborrators. The suffering of ordinary Nigerians will not let them no peace(amen)

The last of that is the most dangerous problem facing Nigeria.

I think light should be ration at Aso Rock, Parliament, Senate, Courts and Embassies
state House etc without generators and let us if they will no fix the problem overnight

Then the greatest assest of any human being will come into play willpower. Where there is a will there is a way.

All the rogues in Nigeria politics and Economy kept feeding ordinary Nigerians nonesense about how difficult, impossible to fix power problem, they even said that it is more difficult than Rocket science.

The Americans will call it Bull, The English will call it Crap, I will like Nigerians to call it shame and utter rubbish.

Drop me a line and let us mobilise honest decent williing ready and able Nigerians to prove all the impossible people wrong. They are just doubious people of No character.

Good luck, and God continue to bless Great Nigeria.

Afam

makes more sense in analysing the issues, there are serious problems in terms of appointing Ibo's to position stemming from the Civil war and the continuation of 'We want biafra' mentality.

First we are one Nigeria and everyone should be equal to be appointed , selected or elected to any office in the country.

Tribalism is still going on and will continue. Onovo accoring to AFam should have been retired some 2 years if not for the influence of the ohaneze, even Ehindero was just kept there for good reasons not to change Ig midstream and tie the hands of the incoming administation and also Victor Malu is an Ibo man and in the highest military office.

Ambasador Aguyi Ironsi si the Minister of Defence during OBJ. I think this speaks volume that oBJ is much more fairer than we give him credit for. I think some people like Gani Fawehinmin may have points if he is talking about the presidency which I think should have gone to the South South at best if it hasn't gone to South East.

However, there are 2 problems as I see it, one is 'Biafra' question and the second is no leading Ibo man came out ahead of the pack during the primaries. There are very competent Ibo persons, the like of Nweke junior. Soludo. The ibo should be proud and just answer biafra question,

and presidency here we come.

I hope this 24hrs change of mind by YAr Adua is one off because it will raise issue of wisdom and competency on the part of our President.

May God continue to bless Nigeria and her people.
PoliticsRe: Patricia Etteh: New Speaker Of House Of Reps by vigasimple(m): 12:57pm On Jun 06, 2007
Hello everyone and thank you for your contributions.

To be perfect honest with you guys and gals,

DOES IT MAKE ANY DIFFRENCE whether is a man or woman. I care less as long as whoever is put in place is competent, able , willing and get the job done.

Most of the time if we can only focus on what needs to be done we shall be alright. Although we like to know whether someone is a man or women, his or her tribe and religion affilliation, it does shed some light on whom they maybe but not necessarily who they will be once they assume power

sometime less education and good intellectual ability is important. So if Mrs Etteh has less education and ability to bring House to order even better. I have said in one of my write up on Nigeria, the only reason why diffrent tribe or region are clamouring for their own people to be at the helm is primarily because incompetence of people who have ruled from a particular region , also born to rule mentality which clearly shows marginalisation of some other part of the country. And some who want their own peopl to be there so they can steal 'national cake'

THE DEBATE WE SHOULD BE HAVING IS ABOUT COMPETENT , CAPABLE, HONEST PEOPLE TO SERVE THEIR COUNTRY (women tends to in general be less corrupt and do their damn best)

The women before Mrs Etteh, as ministers have not disappoint. that also brings me to some of OBJ success which should be paraded with his failures.

I personally think that anytime we are criticising anybody or a leader we should also state their positive so that people or the leader can see that it is not personal and we are not just bunch of negative minded lunatics.

GOd bless and make Nigeria  A Great Country

First

to

Denex,

If our teachers were to say a particular subject, topic or theory is difficult and we don't make an effort to debate it, work at it, but simply accept that proposition, you and I will not have a meaninful education today. If the teacher can succedd in passing the exams before teaching us, goodness Lord with modern technology which calculator or computers will give you answer in seconds, I am pretty convinced that we are buying into that beleieve that blackman has black mentality. faith in ourselves is lacking

There are stable 24hrs electricity in a lot of country with reserves why didn't we simply copy them than waste our time and talent.

What I see here is that for some reason everybody just accept the nonsense we are being fed and refuse to explore the fact so that ordinary folks can be educated on the challenges of electryfying our country. Again use the GSM example illiterate people can even tell you what is going on. simple and effective education.

NEVER NEVER NEVER BUY all those official corrupt reports, is it because election is rocket science that we cannot even run a free, fair and troule free election. simple logistic was turn into an hellish project. Polictician begin to out rig each others

To
Militia,

I always love your contributions on this site but at the same time I will encourage you to find another way of putting your points accross especially to Adura- ngba, not unless there is something personal that we are not privy to. Even then she is only putting her opinion forward based on the facts she has that Ghana was even getting electricity from Nigeria, as somebody has said that Ghana is self sufficient and we should copy from them.

To be quite honest with you, Nigeria supply about 7 other smaller west African countries with electricity, but that was not the basis of the problem.

Let me share some facts with you. United Kingdom has just over 60Million people (compare to Nigeria of over 140M)and they have 55,000 megawatt and only use about 30,000 at anyone time.

can you see the population diffrence, although they have advance industries.

The secret to a Greater Nigeria is the development of Power, Transport infrastructure especially Railyways and road networks and visionary leaders. let me tell you we will become truly great and power broker in Africa and by the said 2020 we will indeed becomes one of the 20 major economies in the world, but as things are now with 'impossible' mentality, 50 years we wouldn't be 50 top economy except that we will be the leading corrupt and backward country in the world.

What i can say to you from my perspective is that We shall go forward with your and my will and the special grace of God.
PoliticsRe: Electricity - Is There No Solution by vigasimple(op): 11:07am On Jun 05, 2007
Hi denex,

Look at your first opening paragraph and last paragraph you will see a contradiction.

I agree withh your opening paragraph, running electricity is a simple as abc.

Once anybody is allowed to be told that something is difficult they would begining to sow a seed of doubt or difficulty in their mind and that is the problem. 'impossible'

The fact I, we, or some people lack the know how or the will or combination of 'drags' does not make the matter complicated.

If you are scientist which i glean from your resume, you will know by simply drawing plans of Power stations and how you get power there, hydro. solar, nuclear, gas turbine, how you then distribute it and get ordinary people(customers) to pay for it. it is that simple

My friend if today you were offrred to be the minister of Electricity or power, are u simply going to say it is as dificult as roket science. you will be amazed that rocket science itself is no longer difficult for a 10 year old, except when people start to complicate what is relatively simple.

The major problem is that of it is 'impossible' mentality (difficult maybe and debatable) and people who would attempt to frustrate by making anybody to believe in that nonsense.

Good luck
