MyPeace: IMPORTANT QUESTION
l lost my immediate elder sister recently, very painful.
My question is she bought 35000 units of Access Bank, 10,000 units of Dangote Flour. How can her husband get her returned money? None of them have been returned so far
l will also need the Registrars Addresses of these two companies.
Abeg tell me how to go about it My condolence. Returned money ought to be posted to her address. if not then it will be a long process of getting a letter of administration of the estate that qualify the husband to manage/take over her estate. |

On AP, it will likely be oversubscribed.
Since the RIGHTS is far more than the PO, it shows that the owners of the business beleive in the course and are willing to commit money into it.
Now 200m units PO @ 250.00 is just about N50bn. Not too much when you look at how much money others are raising.
The prospectus will show what will happen hopefully between AP and Zenon.
Expect OandO to follow. So this may be the time to hold or stockpile OandO. They will need to raise capital to compete. |

invisible!: @wanajo, maybe it was because the market didnt find anything special about this result that the stock lost yesterday.
Market insiders may have seen this result early yesterday, so while the rest of us dicks and harrys were buying in to také position in readiness for the expected result, the people in the know were busy offloading on top of our heads.
How do you like this conspiracy theory? I think the result is in line with projection. Expected full year PAT <N13bn. A 9 month result of N9bn just shows that it is still on course. Bonus rumour may drive the price. Currently I consider it fairly valued. Oceanic, UBA , SKYE and Zenith are looking good. |

samstone4: @Napolean, Wanajo, Nairalanders
I think it is very likely that there will be an amicable resolution of the Nitel issue.
Beyond the headlines, what seems to be happening is that Transcorp will retain about 10-15% of Nitel while the Government will also reduce their share to probably about 25%. This has always been the likely outcome except that transcorp wanted to retain control and then was to get about 25%.
The government will be stupid to maintain that it has reversed the whole sale as no company will buy for other than a giveaway price knowing that Transcorp will sue and will be very likely to win the case! I don't think Yaradua is a stupid man.
I think what is going on is a battle for who controls the sale and an attempt to placate the stakeholders who have clamoured for Nitel to be taken back.
Happy days are round the corner for those of us still there.
Samstone4 Don't be too sure of Yaradua and those around him. Transcorp will need all the finance, energy and goodwill to pull through. Right now it is lacking in all |

Diamond 9 months is out o!
Over 9Biliion PAT compared to over 4Billion PAT.
What do u think? Nothing spectacular. Q1 PAT was N2bn. Q2 PAT was N5.8bn. So if Q3 PAT is <N10bn it implies that the Full year will be about N13bn. That will give an EPS of <N1.00 which at current price is like a PE of 22.00. So to me, nothing fantastic. However, Diamond is well positioned to issue a bonus which may influence the price. |

invisible!: If the post TS bull run in AIICO is to be taken as a guide, then I better load Crusader now, and wait till after PO is done and sell after TS is lifted.
Is there anything wrong with this thinking? AIICo is on a run basically because it went on TS prior to the bull run of last year. So it is just doing its own run now. On Crusader, well don't be fooled. Crusader did a PO in 2006 @ 1.90 or so. Two years later, they are doing another offer. What did they use the money from the first offer to do? How has that impacted on profit? SENATOR JD: @hopeozah, most shares in the insurance sector are kind of difficult to get for now due to the increase its been enjoing so your stockbroker might just be saying the truth. as for what other shares you can buy, well you could try international brewies (it rose from 0.90k to 12.44 as at today just between oct 07 and feb 08) , dangote flour( rose from 15 when it was listed to 25.59 as today) hmmm let me check for some more And you think those stocks are available? Napoleon,
Well, quite an insightful post. Nicholas Okoye used Transcorp to better his life. Check the guys qualification. He was the cancer that did Transcorp in. What I don't know is who the guy was fronting for. EFCC need to go after him. The other shareholders also are not above board. The shareholding structure showed it all.
That said, Transcorp can be turned around if they have good managers. The current staff are not suited for the job. Majority are lawyers. Is Transcorp a law firm?
Well, not all PP's are good. I tend to look for unique sectors. Right now, Telecomms is it. So any PP in that sector is worth it.

RoughCut: All the insurance that have just listed are very good candidates for IPO but they will nôt just go on TS like that. At least they need to jerk up the price a bit abi? and that's where the CICO/RO-RO opportunity comes in!
I thought insurance companies are required to separate their life and non-life businesses which is why there are different capitalization requirements for each insurance type
For those that want to engage in non-life insurance business the cap is N1B and for the non-life is N2B or the other way round.
I know for a fact that insurance companies are now required to spin off their businesses into life and non-life for those who want to engage in life and non-life insurance and for re-insurance business it is a different kettle of fish altogetheri hope i'm not talking gibberish sha Not sure that the requirement to separate LIFE and NON LIFE was carried through. At list the list of firms released by NAICOM did not show that. Recently listed companies are almost impossible to get so don't bother!!!! |

Please when do you think Goldlink and Equity Assurance may be doing PO?
Can't afford to be caught in any TS.
Any Ideas? No info but Goldlnk is a good candidate for an IPO. Napolean: @WISKY WAJA This is needs to be addressed now. I just woke up after last night at the Thisday awards, didn't get in until after 1. I tried not to ramble then and will try not to now. Danced too much to Lionel and I'm a bit achy but I will try my best.
If you have sent in a purchase order already for those on your list then pray. With that list, if you are lucky you may recover the initial outlay and possibly the interest attached to it. As you know I am not a short termer and do not believe in obtaining loans to buy securities. Anytime I make reference to middle term I mean nothing less than two years (18months if pushed)(3-5 years ideally). Anything less that that I consider short term speculation and anything that goes into days or weeks I call a gamble unless I have specific info with a reliability rating of at least 85%.
Going forward, I wonder how much upside you expect on AGLeventis, Union Homes, Firstbank and NEM(eventual TS?) at those entry prices. I don't need a candle stick to tell you, your having a laugh.
I don't know the duration of the loan. I hope it is a least 12 months with an option to roll on if the worst comes to the worst. Otherwise the broker/bank will be happy to chop good stocks(your collateral) that were probably bought a good prices. Going by the list you presented, I want to believe your service with your broker is execution only and not advisory!
Wanaj0,Pumping,Roughcut,Windy,Frank,Atopgun: make una put mouth please o!
Wisky even though I am not a short termer; I am constrained by what I could possibly suggest because I have to take into consideration liquidity of stock, technical suspension, reconstruction and info on the stock. There are some other good ones but I won't include them in the list because of these possible factors. Also even though the money is available you need not enter tomorrow as I think the market is over priced right now.
Off the top of my head I would say consider: OandO <N150(expecting results and you can bail out before markdown), ABC <N3.50, C&I <N7.00, Dangote Sugar N40 (Expecting results within 5 weeks & you can get out before div markdown), Dangote flour <N25 (you will have to wait for this one), Skye (go ahead), Cadbury <N45, Glaxo <N20, May and Baker <N12(speculative), Oceanic <N27 (hold), PHB <N28 (it is a relevant bank) the best bank IPO for 2007 for ancillary reasons and it was very cheap, Union dicon <N10 (CICO), Vitafoam <N9 (CICO)
UNIC <N5.20 : I like this company. Wanaj0 any plans for TS?
I wouldn't really pay more than the entry prices above. With borrowed money you have to hedge and be a little conservative in what you pick. I have not listed anything that is likely to return 100% in 6-12 months (possibly ABC) but 50-75% if entered well is tenable. Hope this helps a little.
Dbenzd Where are you? that will depend on some of my answers to you. Because of you I will open a separate thread now. Will not speculate with ANY insurance company for now. The uncertainties are too much and some of them are just like Transcorp. NEM merged with Vigilante and uptill now nothing on the share exchange ratio. Now they are acquiring Lombard. Don't expect them to go on TS this year but you never can tell. UNIC, not sure whether they've separated the Life and Non Life. Good company but will prefer it for Long Term. For anything short trem, Diamond is my candidate. Will be stockpiling more this week. samstone4: @Wanajo

Please do not over-expose yourself to the ins sector its a minefield as has been said so many times on this forum.

aktopgun: shebi we dey talk am for this thread over this weekend for here say transcorp is a disaster waiting to happen and people begin throw analysis and info based on wishes . the candles down blow out for transcorp o!
ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST.
If u are not a big time player(and by that i mean u if u are not ndidi, obj or other directors) it would be investment suicide to put your hard earned dosh into a compnay like transcorp. Just my opinion. The biggest boys have it to spare(mostly embezzled of course ) and this TS shows they play games to which other investors don't know the rules. wasa reason given for the TS? were the papers filed last week abi when, wey nobody hear? Naija sha! this na executive fiat on NSE's (or should i say ndidi's part) While not holding brief for Ndidi, a stock can be placed on TS for various reasons. NAMPAK and Cadbury are typical examples. When news that is unproven and uncertain is put in the public domain, NSE can place the stock on TS pending when there is more clarification on the info. Loss of NITEL by Transcorp may be a blessing in disguise if they know what they are doing. Firstly they over paid for Nitel. Secondly how will they get FG to bring their own part of funding for NITEL? NITEl should collect the money paid back and move to something else. I however expect the issue to end in court |

NAPOLEAAAAAAAAAAN,WanajoWhere are you please. Hope u got something for your people?we expect you to have better insight than us.Kindly give your take before people start selling the hen that will lay the golden egg.
For me,the upsurge in price in the last few weeks is not just ordinary. Most people thot it was just about the bull run(which Loma says make investors look like a financial genius) of two weeks agobut it has defied that. For me i have learnt not to panic in this NSE.Its a crazy place.Who are the people buying the stock for the past few weeks when the reversal of Mtel sale was imminent? Some people knew what we now know? Why the sudden resignations and board wranglings? Everything looks hazy for now but the koko of the matter is that if Transcorp refuses to bleed heavily today and tommorow,i will hold on to the little i have and if possible plunge in the more. Its crazy but my gut feeling is telling me it wont turn out bad.
I hope i wont need aktopgun and Blueband.I wont. Don't have any insider information on transcorp. Somethings are however very clear. From the prospectus for the IPO, it was a no no. The shareholding does not add up. Many people did not pay for the shares. Check out Nicholas Okoye's own Those that were said to have 100m units did not. Divestment was going on as against the initial agreement. Check out the holdings of Festus and Ndidi. Less than 100m units. What happened ? Again, the IPO was rushed just to edge against the political risk. It was really uncalled for as at that time. Will advice people to stay away from Transcorp for now. For those who bought @ <3.00, sell and take profit NOW!!!. For others watch developments for another few days. You've experienced worse things! |

frankiriri: I really don't understand why SEC will continue to allow all these misnomers. How can a private placement be oversubcribed. By definition a private placement is supposed to be a placing of the shares of the issuer with customers of the brokerage firms. So If IBTC, for instance were allotted 2million units of the shares of Coy X to place it should stop selling once it has achieved that milestone. To do otherwise is fraudulent- except they can get the issuer to allot more shares. A public offer, on the other hand involves an offer to the public and is usually done through many receiving agents. So the issuing houses would not know the extent of the subscription until the offer is over. The problem is that private placement are being marketed like public offers. Frankiriri, if you read Crazy T's post very well, what you stated above was avoided in the case of CHAMS. His broker took the form to the issuing house who rejected the application because they've already reached the limit. Napolean: As per what Wanaj0 mentioned earlier about Chams essentially alloting/selling a chunk to UBA Global who have sold some, hoarded some and wished to poach some from the other issuing houses is all very true. But those that are in will smile and those that are not take solace in the fact that there are always better offers. Some that missed Zenith at 10.90 in 2004 thought life had ended but those that bought Fidelity about two years later at less than N2 have made similar capital appreciation in a shorter period of time. Before you pounce I did not mention divs or splits. Basically there is always a better deal ahead. If you missed out on CHAMS do yourself a favour find out from your agent if your in, if not get your money back sharpish. A serious issuing house, if you bought directly would not have cashed you cheque yet because they should have matched availabilty to sell with requests. Depends on procedure used.
Interswitch is a similar situation. They are not listing this year and they have selected a few (literally) entities so sell to. The offer price is N2.00 for a 50 kobo stock. Therefore you have the option of waiting for listing or getting a seller to cross at a premium. However the sale and transfer has not been formalised yet, so nobody can tell you they have anything warehoused now to sell. If you hear such gist in less than the next 6 weeks na 419. I will make calls this weekend then on Monday mention at least one of the selected companies that would be willing to cross. This is because it is early days, if you do not wish to get in now and tie your money down for a least a year untill listing you have the option of waiting to see if it will open up to more houses to sell through nearer the time. Both options are fine.
Starcomms and Multilink both a have a degree of foreign interest in them and I will make a few calls tonight/tomorrow and try to suggest the best way in. I know the registrar of only one of these companies and will confirm the second to you folks by monday. Sounds silly but even if the house you buy from is not forth coming with a prospectus, make sure you scrutinize the financials first. You will surprised how many rushed CHAMS without reading the prospectus, evaluating the projections or knowing what the company is really about.
I must apologise for my verbose rants. Chatting away into my laptop I don't notice the lines flying.
I should not like the sound of my own voice. So shorter more concise contributions are in order. I am intereted in Multilinks, Starcomms and Interswitch. For PP's, I ready to be locked in for 3 years minimum. That's when you get COMPOUNDED benefits. If you get the prospectus, please share even if it has closed. This will allow me to undesrtand the business model and where they will be making the money from. Sure you got your rights for FAN Milk. Still angry that I allow the offer to BUY WAMCO (makers of peak milk to pass). The dividend from those companies na helele!!! Really, Telecoms is the next BIG thing in the market. The growth and profit in that sector is heavy!!! Could not do the MTN offer as I would have loved to. |

RCCG floated a cooperative called Jubilee Cooperative some years ago. Jubilee Life is an ofshoot but RCCG does not own shares there. I think Felix Ohiwerie or so is the Chairman. Not sure there is going to be preferential allotemnt, if there will be, I will let you know. Intercontinental is not likely to buy them over. Intercontinetal already has Intercontinental Homes. They did a PP I think early last year and it was like over 700% oversubscribed. That was the first PP that I saw that people did not even get alloted the minimum as stated in the placement document!!! For me, any PP where there is no guarantee of FULL allotement, I don't move near. That's why Resort Savings and Loans is not a big deal for me. Well, I expect Costain to start a free fall. Except you have a GOOD broker you may not even be able to sell. For those in for the LOng term, ne temporary setback. I expect another upsurge once the allotment result is out. There must be SERIOUS oversubscription!!! First Bank has cooled off. Will join UBA at the 49.00 - 50.00 range. I however expect First Bank to ahv a surge around April. BOC is resetting again but I have done thanksgiving with that. From <3.00 to 20.00 is enough except for someone that need deliverance from greed. Chellarams still dey represent BIG time. No info yet about the old purported offer. For those in it for the Long Term, start to accumulate May and Baker. 2007 result will not be fantastic. 2008 should however be a good one. Hopefully, the vaccines and food section should be contributing to profit by then. NEM is still moving up!!! Na wa OOOOO!!!! Men o dey complain sha. Missed the rights @ N0.55 Transcorp is still racing upwards. Na wa for that one OO. Surprisingly, volume is still relatively small. Anyone get Thomas Wyatt to sell ? Diamond shouldslow down a bit next week. However it is getting ready to move to the 25.00 mark as the interim bus stop. So those that need to enter should do so fast. |

BTW, whats your take on this Capoil, Afroil palava? Because I get hand and leg for inside o, my Capoil has gain about 4000% (through, I have cash in my initial investment and small profit last year, based on your advise then) same goes for Afroil.
Guess it's time to say goodbye Abi? Your broker did its best!!!!! Not sure IBTC was able to submit application for everybody. UBA was the lead issuing house. A cheque of N5bn was given to Chams before the offer. That basically covered the whole 2bn shares being offered. The 2bn shares was underwritten by 4 houses with UBA having the largest. The others were Santrust, Skye and Fidelity. Santrust from day one was selling for 4.00!!!! UBA Global markets already have some people pencilled down for the offer. Surprisingly, Fidelity and Skye seems not to have so many people (they are not strong in investment banking). I submitted one application via UBA and the other via Skye. UBA just presented the cheques for clearing last week. That's over three weeks since it was submitted. At a point, UBA wanted to collect from the underwritten shares of the other issuing houses. I was informed authoriatatively from the onset that there will be no return money. The plan was that once the limit is reached by the issuing houses, they should stop collecting money. That worked perfectly well with SKYE. Don't worry, more juicy offers are in the pipeline. Make Napoleon tell us once Starcomms, Multilinks and Interswitch are out. Well, on Afroil and Capital Oil, sell some more as a way of locking in profit. You've made enough to walkk away from stocks without any fundamentals. Sell now when there are buyers (that's my assumption). Soon, no one will be buying those stocks execept you find a mugu. Remember the bigger fool theory |

crazyT: CHAMS PP
I got a mail today from my broker about the chams PP, here under is piece of the mail
, I am very sorry to tell you this but chams returned the forms we sent, they(chams) said they've realised all the money they wanted before the offer because some groups bought them out so in order to avoid paying interest on un-allotted shares.
I am glad my money was not kept for months before they returned it. I guess this confirm what Napoleon and Wanaj0 were saying concerning PP's Abeg, who be your broker? That will help me to deduce what the problem might be. Did your broker take the forms to CHAMS I know for a fact that CHAMS got a N5bn cheque from UBA before the start of the offer!! |
