Hota you read Jerome Dickey books? ohhhh. . . i'll tell your daddy.
I read "Drive Me Crazy" 'cause i heard it was a good book. It was pretty interesting  cheesy but i didn't gain anything much from it (prolly new sex terminologies? :@) so i quit on his books. haha

just finished  Child Called "It" by Pelzer and i'm starting the sequel "Lost Boy." I'm slow (everyone read it before me  embarassed)

How many Nigerians are ready to invest £500 on courses (+ read everytime to pass exams) to get good jobs?
They will rather visit Ralph Lauren/Prada stores to get apparels and shoes and drink the rest away at the nearest pub.
Anutha factor here is lack of proper documents to work.
lmao. buahahha
I don't know what nigerians you've been hanging out w/ but i tell you . . . lipsrsealed
huh You really do know how to come up w/  some weird stories  undecided because i find it hard to believe and i'm not talking about nigerians here.
How many people work cleaning jobs and will invest money to visit Ralph Lauren and Prada stores then go drink?  undecided

let's put you in their shoes now.
You have three kids + wife and whatever bills you get every month.
You tell me to quit my job and invest money to start school over again and "read everytime to pass exams"  undecided
Would YOU do that? I know it's easy for you to say yes and come up with some story/ plan of how it's going to be a breeze but if it was that easy, there'll hardly be any low income earner in the country.

Sure they can do a easy program like Nursing like most do or engeneering but. . . (there's like 80% unemployment for nurses in UK - talk about the "billions" of opportunity you mentioned)

Quit w/ the surreal scenarios and admit that life isn't the easy crawl to the top "if your smart like me"  like your falsely presenting.

Oh yeah. . You graduated college in 3 years, is that allowed? how did you do it?
did the british govt. let you fake something? lol  j/k

*****
Don't feed your ego yet about those writting skills. .I know 14 year old rats who write 50X better than you. jus kiddin' grin actually seriously.

the skill i'll say you possess (sp?) is the businessman type. Good at convincing people (not here on Nairaland though an def. not me  tongue) or coercing them into buying a flower plant that'll grow 500 euros overnight for 100 consecutive nights as long as you continure to water it (and as long as you -Jackal - continue to make your $$). lol

did I just feed your ego a lil bit more? j/k
BusinessRe: How Do Credit Cards Work? by WesleyanA(f): 7:20pm On Jul 08, 2006
If your d type that can't control yourself and what you buy, you should stay away from credit cards!!!
get it  (it comes in handy) but stay away and resist temptations from using it often.
It gets you in big time debt!!!
Imagine being in debt for the rest of your life and some to pass to your kids. jst kiddin'

but seriously. . .  credit cards are evil (a necessary evil),  . .

@reyes4eva, what bunch of hypocrites? we're telling the truth lol cheesy the card's the devil!

@ WesleyanA,
It is obvious u have not been reading my comments on this thread.
I have stayed in the US for some months and i was convinced Nigerians in the US are very hard-working.
We all know how the system works in America and the laws are very strict compared to the UK.

The lads in the UK are quite different from the ones u see in the US.
I believe the reason here is because they get away easily with their vices here.
Fraud charges don't carry more than 2-3 years jail sentences and after spending half of their terms they will be injected back to the societywithout stress.
So much on the human rights act law that seem to pamper criminals in the UK.

Furthermore, its easy to get jobs down here  just like everywhere when u have suitable cerifications and the hunger to strive for the best.
The competition is fierce out there and one needs to get certificates that are in hot demands to get mouth-watering jobs.
Majority of Nigerian youths carry obsolete certificates and when the dream job fails to materialise they labelled the white man a racist.
How do u intend to work with an Oracle certificate u have romanced for 10 years or more when new solutions are coming out everyday?
I have highlighted this factor weeks ago and i have seen many applicants turned down in my office because our kinsmen are not just doing the right thing to better their chances.
So does that mean that Nigerians living in the United States would be just as lazy with scandalous "vices" if the american laws didn't make it hard for them to get away with it so they work harder?  huh
Nigerians are criminals pampered in the UK  huh
there are human right laws here too.
I'm getting the wrong message i guess.
There certainly IS racism though (even though sometimes we have to overlook and let them go),

The thing i don't get is how people who work low paying jobs get labelled lazy, unambitious w/o a second though. Do you think they actually like their job or they're not ambitious or in want of better jobs? If that's what they've got i wouldn't advice anyone to go out seeking desperate means as such that'll actually land one in jail you said was meant for the "lazy" ngeirians (the term still bothers me)  lipsrsealed
(most of these "low paying" jobs are a lot more tedious and laborious than the so called high paying jobs so hard work is kind of out of the question don't you think?)
education is what i know get's people to the top. when your cert. is unrecognized, you get nothing. So if you came here at age 8, count yourself lucky and don't compare yourself to degree holders moving here4 d first time. It's two totally different situations.

"they get turned down in your office for not doing the right thing?" what right thing should they be doing? writting out their resumes properly?  undecided i'm lost

US definitely provides more opportunities than the UK maybe that's what you mistook for hardwork?
I had a relative who lived in the Uk and came to the US when she couldn't find a job. She got a job here thouugh.

you graduated college in 3 years? do they let people do that?

@ Akolawole and Beyonce1,

I cannot believe what this thread has degenerated to.
Lemme explain things clearly to y'all unbelievers and doubters.

I moved to the UK when i was just 8 years(not 16 years as Zebudaya and Akola claims) and i finished my high school education in the UK at the age of 16.
I actually though you had a better story to tell like "i moved to UK at age 35 or 40" or something. lol
You went there at 8 and you're comparing yourself to middle agers who have wasted years of hard earned certificates only to come here to start afresh.
You still had the right to call them lazy in boldface repetedly. That's mean. I don't care if you got the best job in the world or not. You had the opportunity.
Would you call your parents lazy? because i'm sure when they brought you, they didn't become IT managers (or w/e terms you use) and i'm sure they worked their butts off.

Nigerians aren't lazy period. we're known for our hardwork and achievements even here in the USA and . . . even though i haven't been to the UK, I know for a fact that it's harder to get a job there than here.

So your statement that there are "billions" of job opportunity is kind of a MAJOR OVERSTATED EXAGERATION.

whether you want to believe it or not, most of the nigerians who work security jobs and low paying jobs are recent immigrants who find it extremely hard to get their certificates acknowledged. Don't compare yourself to them or even worse call them  (nigerians in general) lazy. That's a sin right there.  undecided

I totally agree w/ Akolawole on this thread and some of your posts where you said people get themselves in trouble/debt due to greediness. That's TRUE and it's prevalent among blacks in general. no offense.

CelebritiesRe: Oprah Discriminates Against Rappers! by WesleyanA(f): 11:52am On Jul 05, 2006
I loveeee Oprah!!! cheesy
and I have nothing against her not letting rappers on her show.
I don't listen to rap and I don't think the average Oprah viewer (wrong terminology? tongue) is big on rap.

rap isn't even music. . . just speed babling with as many expletives as you can fit in.
+ i find the lyrics and the videos stupid and offensive esp. to women.
Oprah is a huge woman right activist and I see no reason why she should support stuff like that. It bemuses me even to imagine her listening to rap music on an ipod.

The only rap i listen to are the very fewwww clean ones, and the only rap i actually like is Fort Minor's.

Yeah Oprah can be full of herself sometimes but everyone has a bad side to him/her so i still love her!!

i don't have any reason to believe there's God but i do at the same time. it's funny.
i feel more comfortable with the notion that God is the feeling that lives in our hearts and tells us right from wrong (intuition) and all that, rather than a big man with white beard sitting on some xlarge cardis furniture up there.

because you sound like a fart for disrespecting Nigerian women like that. people like you that bring shame to the country where other nationalities are proud of their people male or female.

TV/MoviesRe: Ellen Degeneres And Her TV Show by WesleyanA(f): 8:48pm On Jul 03, 2006
I knew he was british because he said so in one of the episodes but I just made a search on him to be sure he was british and this' what i found:

TONY OKUNGBOWA
DJ

Tony Okungbowa debuted as the DJ of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" in fall 2003. Every weekday, the British DJ can be seen playing tunes as Ellen DeGeneres dances her way to her chair after her monologue. In March of 2005, Tony released an album, "grin.J. Tony O: Hollywood Sessions," a compilation album of his favorite songs.

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, and raised in London, England, Okungbowa's upbringing was marked by a tremendous passion for the arts. The middle of seven children, his parents encouraged a home environment where, "theater, music, dance, and creative expression reigned supreme."

Okungbowa first appeared on the Los Angeles DJ scene when photographer Andrew McPhearson arranged to have Tony play music on the sets of various celebrity photo shoots, including TV Guide, film company Focus Features and Glamour magazine. In fact, Tony first met Ellen DeGeneres during a photo shoot for TV Guide in 2003.

In addition to performing his DJ duties, Okungbowa is also an actor, and stars in the soon to be released feature film "Gate to Heaven." His television credits include "The X Files," "NYPD Blue" and "Arli$$."

HealthRe: How To Gain Weight? by WesleyanA(f): 8:12pm On Jul 03, 2006
first of all use a BMI calculator to see if your underweight or not. http://nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bminojs.htm
If you're not underweight, my guess is your healthy and perfectly fine the way you are. But if you are underweight, or very close to it

try this:

If your BMI is 18 or less, you are considered underweight for your height.

Being underweight is a health problem, just as being overweight is.

but if you are underweight, here are a few tips to become healthier.

Don't try to do the opposite of everything I say to lose weight. You should still be drinking plenty of water, for example.

This may seem obvious, but EAT MORE. Consume more calories than you expend. Consume more protein. One main reason you may be underweight is lack of muscle mass. Resistance training combined with a hefty increase in protein consumption will put some meat on your bones.

The best way to consume more calories while keeping a balanced and healthy diet is to  have a shake between other meals. You will be getting more calories, more protein, but without imbalancing your intake of other essential nutrients.
