I have been searchng for improved seeds and seedlings but often times I get what the identity is unknown. Some times selling products without ID Though excellent.
Wondering if they have improved trees/seedlingsseedlings of ugba (oil bean) ukwa (breadfruit) nkwu and ngwo.
Now, I have come to realize that the old ways of nonchalantly dropping the seeds that produce the trees which may or may not get transplanted to a suitable spots aren't working anymore.
These items have become scarce and expensive. Been wondering if I can get improved varieties to that I could make small plantations from.

Any info about this, please?

politics and morality go together...not just for u Yoruba folks tho. U guys have no morality.

When America banned slavery, it was a moral decision. They knew they would lose billions...but it was the right thing to do.

When u.k and france ended their african colonial campain it was moralistic.

When the igbos stood by the ss during the resouce control fight, it was moralistic.
Now that igbos are standing by the middle belt against fulani terrorists it is still moralistic.
When obj, a yoro xtian sent soldiers to kill ppl in odi, it was immoral
When awolowo blockaded biafra and starved little kids to death, it was immoral and it reminded us the type of demons u ppl are.

Of course we the igbos will keep playing moral politics. We will keep rejecting a sharia activist, coupist, civil war criminal and closet terrorist even if he drops osinbajo for roachas in 2019. I've always been intrigued by Asaba and its environs. Have never visited the city before. Only pass by on the expressway when travelling to my village.

Nevertheless, I have always wanted to feel Asaba and what its got to offer.

Listen to yourself.

Your advise if foe him to LEASE in the SE and BUY in Benue. Then sell to Igbos to take their money. You didn't even advise him to consider Ebonyi where land is relatively much cheaper if he needs to acquire vast landmass.

Why can't you advice Fulanis to buy in the SE and lease in Kano since they sell most of their cows in SE?

All these afonja people snooping around here with funny names to give funny "advise" sef!
grin
When I read his post, I raised an eyebrow too.
Normally, it wouldn't have been a bad idea to buy agricultural land in Benue, due to its close proximity to Enugu.
But, this isn't a normal country. It doesn't even look like it would assume some semblance of normality in the next few decades. No sir.

If you are looking to buy some plots for agricultural purpose, then you needn't go outside the SE. Yes, there are cheap lands in many parts of Ebonyi. There are agric lands looking for buyers in Ohaji Egbema, Mgbidi (Imo) in Dunukofia, Igbariam (Anambra) and even in Umunede, and many parts of Oshimili north and south (Delta)
Anyone who is serious about agriculture in the SE shouldn't give availability of farmland as an excuse (unless of course, you haven't got enough money to purchase lands) You will definitely get farm plots from N150k upwards. Do your due diligence.

Be strategic in your search, having it in mind to buy in places that would witness development in the next 10 to 15 years, such that if you become disenchanted with being a farmer, then you're already sitting on a valuable piece of real estate.

See how a lot of real estate companies invaded parts of Ngor Okpala, bought lands on the cheap, and now converting them to residential plots with lowest prices at N1.2m or thereabouts. This development because of the location of Sam Mbakwe airport.

If you guys know how parts of Lagos and Ogun states witnessed big appreciation in the value of real estate due to large population influx, then you will realize that there is no bush in the SE!

Compared with its population, SE is going to witness a huge surge in real estate prices and lands as more and more of its people are gradually becoming more focused on developing its region. If you think that lands are already expensive there, then wait for a few more years! cheesy

So, buy that "bush" in the SE and at worse, plant cassava on it. You will get ready buyers to convert it to garri....while the land waits for you to make up your mind. You will never regret it.

Nobody is going to give you an economic hub. Why would anyone do that?
In this present Nigeria, what FG would "give" you the required infrastructures to develop a world class economic hub, unless you fight tooth and nails, sweat blood and tears for it?

Ain't gonna happen. Remember, they all claim to hate you, yet they do not want you to leave. So, don't expect them to make it any easier.
Car TalkRe: This Is How Bullet-proof Vehicles Are Built. (video) by whirlwind7(m):
Quite sure more polithiefcians have placed orders to ship more of them into the country against 2019 elections.
Nigeria is rumored to have the largest number of bullet proof vehicles on the continent. That's what happens when the bulk of the revenue generated by a country largely ends up in the pockets of thieving politicians and their relatives. They have to protect themselves from real and imaginary enemies their selfishness and gluttony created.

On a lighter note, I once read about this Alhaji that acquired an armored sedan. He was on his way to Abuja from Kaduna. Fulani bandits were on a robbing spree along the expressway when Alhaji drove by. As his car approached the robbers' barricade, the crooks let loose a volley of AK-47 slugs at his car.
Well, Alhaji's car was armoured, and the bullets didn't stop him. As he drove by the robbers, he had a huge grin on his face. He shouted at them "kai, jamboroba. Mai moto nah bullet-froof!"

The robbers motioned to him that they couldn't hear his voice behind the wound up windows of his car.
So, to help them hear what he was saying, Alhaji gleefully wound down his window to explain ...and that was the end of Alhaji grin

Wrong answer.

He wants to know what the SS has contributed to the alliance, not by giving their Igbo brothers money or opportunities (heck, we can make our own from Jerusalem to Jericho) but what they have done in terms of moral and psychological support to the brotherhood. We know a lot of our SS brothers support us, but an Okowa for instance could speak out against marginalisation of Igbo land like in projects denied or abandoned by the FG out of pure wickedness.

Have you ever heard Ifeanyi Okowa, or Chibuike Amaechi speak against the delay of the second Niger bridge, even as it also benefits them too?
Bro, we are saying the same thing.

Read my post again. I am saying why the SE has not received as much support from the SS as to be expected.
PoliticsRe: . by whirlwind7(m):
Daewang:
So far SS has not contributed anything to this so called alliance. Ndigbo have been making all the sacrifices all this while.
Look at it this way:

SS has been the proverbial goose that has been laying the golden egg. Yes, SE has oil producing areas, too. But SS has over the years churned out the bulk of crude oil which has so far sustained this contraption of a country.
During these years, SS has not gotten back a commensurate amount of recognition and compensation for what it has sacrificed.
The few times that the FG has tried to close this gap, warlords and local champions from the SS are quick to hijack whatever monetary benefits the government was willing to give for their development. Which is the reason why such criminal gangs and cliques are numerous over there. You need to make a lot of noise and a lot of threats for government to recognize that your clique is a factor to reckon with, and to pose a reasonable threat to crude oil extraction. After which you and your crew get paid as a "compensation" or awarded contracts to secure oil pipelines.

When all this happens, the bulk of the natives see it all, and suffer in silence. They are powerless to act. They can't beat the warlords. They'd rather join them, to secure their lives and to feed.

In all of this, the FG is the most visible benefactor because it controls the oil money that sustains them. Now, the SE cannot offer the SS what pittance the FG drops for them. So, what allegiance, or cooperation does the SS owe or wishes to have with the SE within such a set up? None.

In other words, every geopolitical region crawls with its cap in hand every month, to get its sustainment from the FG. FG is the big brother, just because a flawed political set up has concentrated all power (and money) into its hand. So, at the moment, every region looks out for itself, and look up to the FG.
With this set up, the SS does not need the SE. Natural alliance may exist, but it is minimal. Which is the way the FG wants it (the divide and rule tactic)

The most plausible time the SS will come out in the open and unilaterally voice out an alliance with the SE is when this contraption breaks down, or at worse, restructuring is done.

For the time being, FG calls the shots. This is the reason why FG will NEVER accept to restructure. It would render it near powerless and redundant.

Ndigbo have been making the sacrifices you mentioned because a typical Igbo has a deep seated aversion at being cheated.
While other tribes may grudgingly accept an unfavourable status quo, the average Igbo will not. Hence, the reason why they are despised.

Know that the person who stands for truth and justice within a flawed system will end up having numerous enemies.

Also note how the SS has been unstable in their stance. Once the FG fails in "compensating" them for what they owe, they begin making a lot of noise about restructuring or even voicing the emergence of Biafra (Asari Dokubo has done this many times before)
Once their "shut up" money is released, then all is well. Its a matter of who finances a junkie's cravings getting the momentary loyalty.

New areas aren't the issue, people aren't moving because they lack housing. People are moving because they believe they'll make money elsewhere.

I think the push away from make-shift businesses like opening shops, and local transport systems like Okada and Danfo make the situation worst. All of these things have to be there, and more markets have to be opened for people to start staying home.

I saw a study that counted the benefits of Igbos staying in their home state. It said that off the money an Abian makes, a higher percentage of it returns to him village if he lives in Abia than if he lives elsewhere. Of all of the states, Abia and Anambra has the highest return on investment on their indigenes because they're more likely to stay. Imo had the worst, Enugu was a little better than Imo.

So I said what's the difference in the states fairing better than the ones fairing worst and how can we expand that differentiating factor to make staying at home more appealing.

Then i saw it. Anambra has Onitsha main market, Aba has Aba Market. These are places where young men with little can go to make a name for themselves. They don't have to go to Alaba if they don't want to. Imo doesn't have this. Enugu doesn't either. Anambra and Abia also have an industrial based developed in and around this major markets.

Imo need to open a major, easy entry market in Orlu. Enugu needs to do the same in whichever location is more strategic. As big as or bigger than the ones in Onitsha and co. the Orlu zone has the densest population of people and communities in the whole of Igboland without having a major urban center. Opening a major market there will not only keep the sells put, it will also keep the buyers put. People will be able to live in their village and make a short drive to their place of work and business. I propose and electronics market because easterners are still going to Lagos to buy electronics.
Foresight and strategic!

Did you use a drone to capture those pics?

Looking at them, one can't help but well up with pride at the doggedness, resilience and entrepreneurial spirit of Ndigbo! All what you see there is the effort of no one else but Igbos....unlike what is obtainable in most other cosmopolitan cities in Nigeria where 'one Nigeria' and federal effort has helped them drive development! And this is even more commendable given how we started off with just £20 and how the political-economy of Nigeria since the late 60s has been tilted against us!

Nice one! smiley
This is what most non Igbos outside the SE find hard to comprehend.
Igbos mostly have this innate drive to make their vicinity look decent. They compete fiercely, albeit healthily among themselves over this.
For example, once a new area opens up to development, the first few houses in that area would decide the general structures that most of the property owners will build.
Southerners generally exhibit this trend too, but Igbos take it to new levels.
The drawback so far is that we haven't been compensated with governors who are ambitious and futuristic in their outlook.
