Who cares if it swims with you.

obowunmi: What happens if you stay a virgin, get married a virgin, and then end up divorced a non-virgin? Do you commit suicide after?
What kinda of person thinks like this. So the fact that I might lose my job tomorrow should make me rather rob a bank than diligently work on the one I have?!!!

Is anything that certain in life.

This discussion centers around an attempt at living the right way without carrying baggages around all your life

HealthRe: My Experience With A Quack Doctor by WhyAWhy(m): 1:38pm On Oct 10, 2012
As much as I believe there are quack doctors everywhere. I think it's a common practise for General Practitioners(as they call them on this side of the world) to have knowledge in a general sense. I have been to hospitals here also under NHS and the GPs have a computer with online resources they use to quickly match symptoms and some few writeups for easier diagnosis. So the fact that a medical doctor checked a text book has nothing to do with his/her competency. It's better to revalidate what you remember than an attempt to show-off knowledge.

If you're a specialist it's a different case entirely.

Also, like someone said, doctors work with facts.. they simply act on whatever you tell them. They can't see through your body by mere looking at you. Give your GP as much information as you can. Even here in UK, I experienced the same thing. I was said to have only Hayfever and same medication was repeated until I booked in again for another session a week later and that was after going in 2 or 3 times.
FamilyRe: How Are Nigerian Weddings Funded? by WhyAWhy(m): 11:49am On Oct 09, 2012
vicade: At the end of the day it all boils down to planning. On the wedding day every youth in the family became an usher/wedding planner.

Using my sisters wedding as a case study.

The grooms family made a contriibution of a cow, paid for the brides wedding gown and made monetary contribution.

My mum as an isale eko woman got complete aso ebi for 30k and sold it for 55k. over 200 people on both d groom and brides side bought. I think there was another grade she bought for 7k and sold for 15k and people also bought that too. The only way I think that worked is cos she has also boought aso ebi for other peoples parties too.

My sister also had all this fine looking pink hats she sold for 4k. Think she sold about 50 of that to her friends and d single ladies who were gonna attend.

It was stated clearly and boldly on the IV that monetary gifts preferred. No one wants a neatly wrapped big cooler.

Both families also had envelopes from friends and family before d wedding and after d wedding the couple got some monetary gifts.

Finally, both groom and brides family and the couple themselves also have to spend their own money but the load wasn't too much and the wedding was super successful. Would have put pictures but that would be off topic.

That's my own case study.

You know personally I have a strict code of silence when it comes to social issues that get discussed here on Nairaland and wisely so because lots of people just senselessly talk thrash and crap, and I really have a zero tolerance for bullsh!t. Anyway, now about ..

FamilyRe: My Husband Is Threatening To Divorce Me For Petty Reasons by WhyAWhy(m): 11:46am On Oct 06, 2012
I think this goes beyond pepper soup or egusi. It stems from the fact that the husband perceives that his opinion or desires are probably being continually put down.
@OP: From your responses, you sound like someone so opinionated about matters and i believe that's the root of your problems

FamilyRe: How Long Should A Widow Mourn Her Late Husband by WhyAWhy(m): 1:39pm On Oct 05, 2012
dasparrow: chucky234: If you truly love him then mourn him forever, till your dying day because that's what true love stands for..
You can move on with your live and attend to your every needs but always have in place in your for him, always.
.
Recently a dog was discovered to have spent the last six years sitting beside its dead master's grave watching over him, that's a good example of how a loved one should be mourn.

So, you are comparing a canine/dog to a woman who after a while will go into menopause and will not be able to conceive again? It's amazing the way some Nigerians reason and how wicked some of you are. If she were a man, will you give her the same advise? When a Nigerian man loses his wife, 6 months later and he is already dating again or even married and no one bats an eyelid. However, when it is a Nigerian woman, you people expect her to mourn the late husband forever to prove she loves him.

In that case, I can confidently say that most Nigerian men who have lost their wives to the cold hands of death did not truly love their wives because most Nigerian widowers cannot even mourn their late wives for 6 months much less for the rest of their lives. You heard Kemtol say she is a young woman (probably in her 20s). So all because she unknowingly married a man with a short life span, she should now stay single for the rest of life and not give her little son a chance of having a baby brother or sister in the near future. Is that what you are telling her? The last time I checked, the marital vows said "till death do us part" which means once a spouse has passed away and the wife has mourned him for a minimum of one year, she is free to move on with her life.

I don't know why Nigerian men punish their wives even from the grave. It is such a huge disadvantage marrying a Nigerian bred male because most of you abuse your wives emotionally, verbally, physically and psychologically while you are alive. Then you leave nothing behind for the wife and kids in the event of your sudden demise. As if that is not enough, your family members start fighting the wife/widow you left behind as a result of your death who take away everything you and your wife ever worked for. And then to add salt upon injury, you expect the lady/widow to remain single for the rest of her life not considering how young she was when she lost her husband due to no fault of her own.

Nigeria: A failed wicked nation with predominately wicked people who have no conscience and who gladly practice a wicked culture. I spit!
10/10 - You said it all, some people are outrightly wicked!
The day a spouse dies, you're free to move on!
Christianity EtcRe: Church Dilemma - Serious Replies Pls by WhyAWhy(m): 1:01pm On Oct 05, 2012
Personally I think there is something fundamentally wrong with the church setting. You're in a foreign land for crying out loud?!!! How do you intend to carry out soul winning when the language is already a barrier. It's a sorry case that even the church leadership couldn't address this. Even if I were Ghanaian, I will not feel comfortable that the language of communication is just restrictive. What should whites and other nationalities do? Nawa oh shocked
RomanceRe: Marrying A Nigerian Pastor: What Is it Like? by WhyAWhy(m):
bankylan: I seldom visit nairaland these days...but i wonder why nairalanders always speak about Pastors....
But to answer your question, I think the question is flawed. Marriage decision should be about what defines the particular person....what is his personality....If being a Nigerian pastor is all that defines him, then you may be making a wrong choice. Who is he outside his pastoral duties? This should be your concern as you will live with his person more than his duties?
But if this questions is all about mocking the Nigerian pastor, then it will be very unfortunate....
if it is easy to be a pastor and make money, I wonder why some critics have not decided to be pastors.
Pastors don't live on tithes, and in an ideal church, pastors don't have anything to do with Church's tithes. Most pastors are on salary, and some don't even collect salary because they have their own business.

Most of you often question the decision of pastors to own business, but you have failed to acknowledge the fact that pastors have responsibilities of providing for their immediate family and sending their children to good schools. Besides, if a Pastor has not defeated poverty, how will he convince his members that God is able to provide for all their needs. I grew up in CAC, and I know how pastors and their families suffer to live. But things are changing now, and most pastors are business minded. Shepherding a church does not exclude you from doing business. It is nothing but a mental laziness not to think of strategic business that will not take your time. It is now all about insights, and that is the advantage of some pentecostal pastors we have today. In my church, my Pastor is the number one tither. He preaches on Tue, Wed, and twice on Sundays, yet he still have time for his private business. There are so many other pastors like that. It is quite unfortunate that many people still expect to see Pastors in tattered dress, and cherish the the feelings that they are the one feeding pastors and his family.
I just have the feelings that most people here abusing men of God are still in their twenties or have not encountered the power of God in their lives. Most critics I have met in my life are the most frustrated human beings on earth. But I have never seen a rich and blessed person criticize anyhow. Constructive criticism is welcomed, but when it comes to being abusive, then I can bet that the critics are either poor, broke, jobless, frustrated, or unbelievers.

but really who cares if you don't visit nairaland often tongue
RomanceRe: My Girlfriend To Be Eats Too Much by WhyAWhy(m): 11:03am On Oct 01, 2012
I quite understand where the poster is coming from. The thought of a lady "ballooning" around me puts me off. The poster ought to identify the following
1. Is she usually like this - If yes and she's not already fat, then you've got nothing to worry about. My sister eats like twice what i eat and she's just close to lepa.
2. Is she having an emotional trauma or a psychological transition in her life - If yes most likely, she's got this cravings because of it.

Whatever the reason, just speak to her and have a heart-to-heart chitchat about your worries.
RomanceRe: Do You Believe Pastors Prediction On Life Partners by WhyAWhy(m):
life experiences shows that falsehood can have many accuracies. I often wonder why it's only Life partners this so called prophets specialize in choosing! There's no biblical basis for all this B-U-L-L-S-H-I-T. If this people "see" that much, and dem plenty for Nigeria, why is the nation still crawling, I wonder why they can't see the wheel that spins to progress. Na so so don't marry this or marry that. Mschew

Another food for thought: How come THAT WILL OF GOD usually comes from a tribe like yours?
Christianity EtcRe: TD Jakes’ Daughter Ends Her 4-year Marriage by WhyAWhy(m): 2:24pm On Sep 14, 2012
Ola one: Got pregnant at 14? Where is there no-sex-before marriage rhetoric? This is one of the reasons I don't listen to dem preachers.
What's Mr Jakes on the platform to preach about, then?

People who can't even obey the so-called 10 commandments yet set themselves on a pedestal of 'righteousness' and have themselves uncritically admired and praised by, err . . , what they call 'congregation.' smh undecided
I think this mentality is desperately skewed. What has this gotten to do with her father. Since the day you landed on earth. Do you listen to your parents ALL the time, do they hold you by the throat to follow their biddings. Even children of the same parents turn out differently so what the heck?!! The salvation of the father can not be transferred to the child. At every point in life we will make decisions that may or maynot be at tangent with our parents believe. That a person's father is the pope doesn't translate the child to a saint. He/she is still human at best!
FoodRe: My Fiancee Doesn't Know How To Cook by WhyAWhy(m): 8:51pm On Sep 10, 2012
I think you should cook with her, I personally wield amala, beans, efo and even bake peradventure I meet a woman that is not so skilled in that department. That's why it's called relationship. I don't believe women came from heaven with pot and spoon in their bosom, cooking is "open-source" and I believe learning together will spice up your life more.

RomanceRe: Do You Believe Pastors Prediction On Life Partners by WhyAWhy(m): 9:07pm On Sep 03, 2012
pheesayor: everyone here is getting it wrong here except baldman . true prophets do exist however, they won't tell you who to marry. you simply consult the prophet about who you are about to marry, the prophet then fasts and prays mostly for three days after which you'll be told if you are compatible with your partner or not.

my point here is the prophet is not to tell you who to marry but simply tell you if the person you want to marry is compatible with you. if yes the future will be good and if no,the there might be future disaster.

my case study here is an uncle of mine who was warned not to marry his wife but he was so in love and went ahead to marry her, immediately after the marriage he lost his job, 12 years later they have three kids but he's practically living off the rent his mum collects from their fathers houses. don't get me wrong he's not a lazy person but he was so in love that he discarded prophecy and he's paying for it. a person once loved by all is now being avoided.

I'm in similar case too and i have the choice whether to listen or be stubborn like my uncle, time will tell
This a blatant lie! Either you marry the right person or not. Life is not fair, It will ALWAYS throw challenges at you either you like it or not!

The spirits of prophets are subject to the control of prophets - 1 Corinthians 14:32

A Pastor will always see what he wants to see

That's why it is important to know God by ourselves.

I have asked this question times without number that the prophecy is always about the other partner not being good enough for you. Has anyone ever heard from a pastor that you yourself are not good enough for the person you've come to pray about. Think about it!

Ujujoan: This thread is completely unnecessary. Anybody wondering how spammers got their e-mail is definitely not supposed to be online.

It's not restricted to NL. Anybody with an atom of sense can identify a spam e-mail at once and delete. But then idiots, like the people blabbing here, will go on and click the links and then turn around to complain when their systems crash,

Nonsense people!
This is the end of the matter, wondering why this issue became discussion in the first place, people posting email addresses bbpins etc all over the place, how come someone of us didn't get it?!!!

On another note, a simple python script with depth search can achieve the same functionality.
