We are just too superstitous in this part of the world. Any slight deviation from normal behaviour, we jump into the conclusion of terrestrial and aquatic powers.

Are his village people fishes? For him to have seemingly respond to their call.
Its not about superstition.

This is Nigeria, we cannot forget who we are and our roots.

Need this GTB to move up quickly, at least it will wipe away some of my loss on that unserious Zenith

It has just been confirmed now to be 13.01%

see the attached form below..
How can they give 13.01% in this economy ? At least they should give us at least MPR -14% min if they intend to shut us folks out of the TBills.

It,s not fair ..

REFLECTION:
The behaviour of ZENITH BANK share price is a lesson for us all.
It clearly demonstrates why matured traders will warn you that INSIDER information does not CHANGE MR MARKETS MINDSET and one should use it with wisdom if you stumble over it. The danger in the market is usually from THOSE WHO REFUSE TO KEY IN THEIR BIDS AND OFFERS, but descend heavily on the market while the bargain hunters are sweating it out by shifting front and back..... grin grin grin.
Whenever I am interested in a stock, I can almost see the invisible hawks hovering around, they are the ones I fear the most before jumping in. They put pressure on everyone as they did to me today while trying to figure out where to enter ZENITH ..... grin grin grin

SCENARIO: Assuming you had an insider in CBN who tipped you on the excellent result and you decided to call your banker friend in SKYE BANK (just an illustration) to lend you $5M (I doubt if skye has this much dollars... grin) and he arranged it for you.
You may have taken a good, very short position @ N15.60 (where I entered at fake break-out) and gone partying, confident that you will BREAK THE BANKS when the result is out with that reasonable Dividend.
After a few days of ZENITH BANK releasing their result, you would have checked the share price and ended up in an ICU at LUTH.... grin grin grin.

Lets keep learning..... grin grin grin
Behavior of Zenith shares truly shows that nothing about stock trading lends itself to simple answers, even with Technical & Fundamental analysis, they are just, jagged edges and moving parts, some you see coming and you retreat and cut your losses. Some you dont see coming till they've smacked you in the head.

Let,s all be careful.

Please friends, how do I go for Zenith bank e-mandate dividend form, using Morgan capital as Stockbrocker.
I want to know whether I will get the form online, download, fill and scan it back to the zenith registrar without visiting their office physically, or is it possible to get it through any of the zenith bank branch?
Download, fill it and get a bankers confirmation with it and courier it to them. You can follow up with mail, no need to visit their office physically.

If you are in GTB, just be careful. their result will be powerful but I doubt if their dividend yield would be good enough to sustain their current price. If a stock doesn't give as much as 18% dividend yield, investors will sell and go to TBills, and wait till next year. Investments that return less than the inflation rate is a loss. When I said Zenith Bank result was Poor some ppl nearly lynched me, now you see the price, 14.46. NSE has no place for long term, its chop and carry. Since the days of Oceanic, intercontinental and other manipulated and scraped banks, I came to that conclusion. Anything affects price and stocks can fall 1000% in less than 2 months. Government can even, just because they do not like your face, delist or scrap or takeover your company without even caring what effect it has on investors.
I am waiting for the mkt reaction to other first tier banks, once same thing happened to GTB, Access & UBA. Its time to take break from NSE.

Its a dead end for second tier banks!

2. Wait and ride with Zenith

I think the result from zenith is only fair(wait until you see gtb result)I also think the returns from dividend is poor and this is even clear from the markets reaction. Note that before the result came in, the share prise was 15.22. well its now 14.80 and still falling. This is not what pple expected.
Relax, we still have still closure of books.

Had to sell some of my dollars yesterday and retain the rest...This is because sustainability of this FX regime is uncertain as forex accretion remains the focus and with FDI & FPI still at their lowest ebb, it won't take long before another spike in rate occurs.
CBN had sold over $600m this week alone thus ensuring liquidity in the forex market & narrowing the difference btwn the parallel mkt rate and official rate. The question still remain how long will the CBN continue to issue $600m on a weekly basis if demand side of the forex mkt remain constant or increase.

I agree with your view, it just a matter of time the rate move back to over =N=500

In terms of share price or profitability? What do you see? If CBN decide to devalue the naira again then The consumer good index will really be hit badly...In this case UACN might hit 5 before 2017 ending. am waiting at 10naira.
I am simply wary of venturing outside financial services stocks, things are already bad and will also get worse this year.

-Squeeze on Disposable Income
-Fx Shortage
-Naira Devaluation
-High Energy Cost
-Inflationary Pressure

are factors that will drag performance of coys and I dont see the way out of this dark tunnel.

My target for exit is within 10% -20% cap appreciation.

30% is on the high side, but with NSE, anything is possible. Let just wait and see

I ALREADY HAVE ZENITH . I got some 3M from my brother.do U tink i shd buy more zenith in anticipation for price yield.

What ur thought on this decision am about to take ?

(Am a little bit worried zenith has been on the 15 naira for a while ) .
-Zenith is a defensive stock not a yo- yo stock, it takes time to build up.
- Zenith had dwelt around N14 on the average for the past 6 months irrespective of challenges in the economy, it touched ard =N=13.36 at the height of the bearish mkt in Nov 2016.
- Dont think it will get as bad as that given the dividend season in March/April coupled with mkt bullish outlook ard this period.
- Dont expect too much price rally as it seems Zenith dont respond 2 much to dividend announcement.
-Mild cap appreciation and good dividend payout is the best target.

Disclosure: Have substantial units in GTB, Zenith, UCAP & FCMB

South African gurus in stocks are seriously increasing their holdings in Nigeria tier2 banks .This may be the worst year for banks and after all these difficult times ,there will be a good time for banks and those who sow in sorrow shall reap in joy.I think i am not making any mistake to position myself in my desire banks now i have the opportunity for a lifetime investment.I dont see investing in Diamond bank between 75-80 kobo as a wrong investment when compare to the intristic value of the bank.Again those negative news concerning those unhealthy banks has been already factored in their share prices.
We still need to be cautious and manage our expectations,

- Banking sector outlook is still negative as a result of muted loan growth,
- Prospect of immediate economic recovery is still a mirage, weak macro econ environ & rising inflation still remain a major concern,
- Banks Asset Quality is still a major concern with Tier 2 banks at a higher risks,
- Lastly, NSE 30 in green for the first time for some weeks is a good sign.

Good evening house,
I'm looking to actively trade in the NSE and i have opened accounts with both Morgan capital and meristem. I'm an ardent follower of this thread but as days go by, my confusion on the equities to invest/trade in mounts. My capital is ready but I'm scared of jumping in and making serious loses. I'm looking to get lessons and knowledge from anyone willing to teach me the pros and cons of the NSE even if it means paying for it. I reside in Abuja and I'm looking forward to replies from the experienced brains here.
Thanks.
We all make losses in stock business, you just need to know how much you can take. Stock Trading is a business that improves with experience and study. Always be a student and keep learning as all of us on this thread are learning.

Start working on your technical analysis, it will help you and improve your confidence. Some books that I am also reading as recommended by Fxuser are available on the net.

1. John J Murphy - Technical Analysis of Financial Markets
2. Robert D Edwards and John Magee -Technical Analysis of Stock Trends
3.Barbara Rockefeller - Technical Analysis for Dummies

You can keep 90% of your fund in Treasury Bills why you trade stocks with 10%. Your returns on TBills should cover your loss on stocks while you study and learn.
