With a total score of 349 points, Ajibola Oluwatosin Olumayowa is believed to have the highest score so far in the 2018 UTME The 15-year-old boy from Ogun state reportedly scored 78 points in the Use of English, 94 in Mathematics, 88 in Physics and 89 in Chemistry. 15-year-old Ajibola Oluwatosin Olumayowa has emerged as the best candidate so far in the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), following the release of results, Vanguard reports. It was initially believed that a Corona Secondary School student, Ibukun Oduntan, had the highest score, as he earned 344 marks, but this has kept the records straight. Olumayowa's school, Taidob College, Asero Estate, Abeokuta, Ogun state, however disclosed to newsmen on Wednesday, March 21, that their student had emerged with the highest score of 349. A statement signed by one Dare Adedotun read: "Ajibola Oluwatosin from Egdbado North, Ogun state, recorded 78 in the Use of English, 94 in Mathematics, 88 in Physics and 89 in Chemistry.” (See Olumayowa's result sheet). Olumayowa’s score is believed to be the highest in the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) at the moment. The development comes following an earlier report that Oghotomo Ogheneruno Goddowell, a 16-year-old boy from Ethiope East in Delta state, may have set a new record for the Joint Admission Matriculation Board exam, as he scored 321 points. Goddowell wrote his exam at the Benchill Schools, Warri Delta State. Another unverified result that surfaced online with the same 321 marks, belonged to 18-year-old Yusuf Najeeb Lawal from Musawa in Katsina state. Lawal wrote his exam at Kaduna Polythecnic, Tudun Wada, Kaduna State. Nigerians express mixed feelings as JAMB reduces admission cut-off to 120 this year.

The story of a lady on Twitter identified as Jade Jordan who revealed how she left Islamic religion to become a porn star has got me thinking. One of her reasons is that her freedom was being denied. She also alleged that noone taught her about the benefits of the things she was compelled to do including wearing hijab. She said she stopped wearing her Hijab which she started wearing from when she was 3 years old to when she was 20. She shared her story on Twitter also sharing throwback pictures in which she was wearing a Hijab. She added that she will make a YouTube video soon chronicling her journey. She revealed that her household was a strict one and therefore she didn’t feel free. Her series of Tweets read: Funny fact: I was actually born and raised a MUSLIM (I’m not muslim anymore BY CHOICE). My real name is said in the video. You have to watch it to find out what it is. I wore a hijab from age 3 up until age 20. I stopped in 2014, when I stopped being muslim. A few months later, I started doing porn. Here is my baby and I I got rid of all my yearbooks, because I used to be so heartbroken that I used to be apart of something that brought me so much pain, but I’m in every year book from my old school wearing a scarf. I need to get my genealogy done. I was born in America though. My parents are hard core religious fanatics. So growing up it felt like I lived in another country. Wasn’t interested anymore. Didn’t speak to me. I didn’t feel connected to it. Gonna make a youtube video talking about my journey from MUSLIM to IndecentStar in a few days. In the meantime, here is a pic of me from high school… People pirate my manyvids videos, but I’m not mad. Hubby used to pirate software and entire studio albums back in the day. It’s unfortunate business-wise, but I know y’all don’t have money. I grew up in a transitional home, so I get it. I’m still doing DMCA takedowns though!!!! I’m happy we get to share the experience of being free and truly being ourselves with people who are important to us. Our supporters mean everything to us. I have never been so happy. Thank you! My question: Going through all that she narrated above, does it mean our religious tenets are losing the moral values to the dogs? I want to be directed.

But they told us that Nigeria no longer depends on oil revenue? |
The Debt Management Office (DMO) on Wednesday released the country’s debt profile, which stood at N21.725 trillion as at last December 31, representing 18.20 per cent of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Out of the figure, the Federal Government’s domestic debt was put at N12.589 trillion, while domestic debt owed by the states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was N3.348 trillion. On the other hand, external debt attributed to the Federal Government, States and the FCT was N5.787 trillion, making it a gross total of N21.725 trillion. The Director General of the DMO, Patience Oniha, who disclosed this at a briefing in Abuja, also said the proceeds of $2.5 billion Eurobond, issued last month, was being used to pay maturing domestic debt, starting with N130 billion Nigeria Treasury Bills (NTBs), repaid on March 1. According to her, “the figures show that Nigeria’s debt management strategy, which has the objective of reducing the ratio of domestic debt in the portfolio, while the ratio of external debt is increased with a target of 60 per cent domestic and 40 per cent external, is being achieved. “The composition of the debt stock as at the end of 2017 showed that external debt was 26.64 per cent of the portfolio, up from 20.04 per cent in 2016, while domestic debt was 73.36 per cent, down from 79.96 per cent in 2016. On the anxiety that Nigeria is being lured into a debt trap again, the DMO boss dismissed such fear, explaining that the nation’s debt to GDP is still within approved limits. “Nigeria’s debt continues to be sustainable and it is well within the threshold of 56 per cent for countries in Nigeria’s peer group. She, however, advised that more emphasis should be made raise revenues and exports to strenghten foreign exchange earnings. “From analysis, we’ve large informal sector in the country. Some companies and high networth individuals are not paying the right taxes. And it’s good the government is addressing that. We need to look beyond oil revenue. We have been too dependent on it. “The Federal Government won’t be boxed into a corner in terms of our debt. “Again, let’s ask ourselves, what is the borrowing used for? For economic growth and that is why we have more capital spend. So, we borrowed for financial capital expenditure and stimulating the economy.

It is not doubtful that about 95% reactions on this post are directed to SARKI, and and by every indication he is one of the mouthpiece of APC and its government on this platform. Going by what he has been posting all along, a careful observer will know that he represents mediocrity and can never be taken serious. How can an adult reason through his nose and come to the public for the sake of gaining popularity? This is a big shame. |
Skepticus:My father! Did I hear you well? |
I fell in love with an innocent pigeon that perched on my roof top and decided to throw some grains for it to eat. Every day it comes around to eat grains and the next time I checked, it came with another pigeon, I left them and traveled for two weeks. When I came back, the whole house has been occupied by pigeons. Please, let me know what I can do to get rid of these illegal occupants. Does anyone here know what I can do to eliminate pigeons from my house? Another annoying creatures that equally constitute nuisance are lizards, they disturb a lot. Now, a friend of mine told me that they can attract snakes to the house, and I'm seeing that as a valid observation. Someone should hear my cry and help me with a working solution to these menace. Thanks. |
With more universities opening across the country in the last decade, the number of students gaining admissions into specialised and competitive degree courses has steadily grown. But when it comes to Medicine, four states have dominated admission trends for at least five years, consistently trouncing the other 32 states and the Federal Capital Territory. The states are Imo, Anambra, Delta and Enugu. Between 2011 and 2015, these states had more students gaining admission to study Medicine than any other state, data from the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) show. In the five years, the four states — except Anambra — remained in the top five, an analysis of the data by PREMIUM TIMES has shown. Anambra took second position for four years, before dropping to sixth position in 2015. Only two other states managed to break into the top five briefly. Osun took fifth position twice and fourth position once; while Edo took third position once, and fifth position once. The data, covering 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015, are for students admitted through test-based examinations conducted by JAMB. JAMB’s admission process is guided by merit, university catchment area and grants advantage to educationally-less developed states. The JAMB data were verified and validated by the National Bureau of Statistics, the bureau said. Together, they provide an important glimpse into how the nation’s 36 states and Abuja compete when benchmarked by university admissions into various academic disciplines each year. PREMIUM TIMES analysis is focused on three of the most competitive courses: Medicine, Engineering and Law. In follow-up reports, this newspaper will evaluate the trend in Engineering and Law. For Medicine, while Imo had 1,940 students admitted into various universities in 2011, Anambra followed with 1,536 and Enugu was third with 1,280. Delta came fourth with 1,137 and Abia was fifth with 931 students. In 2012, the four states again made the top five. Imo emerged first with 1,841 students, Anambra followed with 1,473 and Delta came third, while 1,305, Enugu came fourth with 1,247. That year, Osun placed fifth with 958 students admitted into Medicine. Imo continued its leadership of the chart in 2013 with 2,395 students admitted to study Medicine, while Anambra again followed with 1,645 and Delta came third with 1,618. Enugu came fourth with 1,422. Fifth position was snatched by Edo with 1,256 students. In 2014, Imo had 1,588 students, Anambra followed with 1,511; Delta came third with 1,170, Enugu came fourth with 1,161. Osun reclaimed the fifth position with 1,146. In 2015, positions changed significantly, with Delta jumping to first position with 1814 students. Imo dropped to second with 1,727, while Edo came third with 1,510. Osun was fourth with 1,447 and Enugu, with 1,390, took fifth. For the first time in five years, Anambra slumped to sixth position. Hassan Soweto, who coordinates a civil rights group, Education Rights Campaign, said the admission pattern reflects the funding of education in the country. Mr. Soweto assessed the states doing better as “one-eyed kings in the land of the blind”, saying even they have poor funding for education. “It means that some states are doing a bit better while some are doing poorly in the midst of crisis because it does not mean the sector is well funded,” he said. At the lowest rung of the admission table are FCT, Yobe, Zamfara and Jigawa. FCT had the least in the five years with only 24 students admitted into Medicine in 2011. It had 20 students in 2012, 46 students in 2013, 38 students in 2014 and 40 students in 2015. Six other states also had a poor record of students who got admission to study Medicine. In 2011, Yobe had 64 students, followed by Zamfara with 68 students. Jigawa had 74 while Taraba had 82 students.. Similarly in 2012, Yobe had 36 students that studied Medicine, followed by Bauchi with 48 students, Adamawa with 56 students and Zamfara had 69 students. In 2013, Zamfara had 117 students who got admitted to study Medicine, followed by Adamawa with 121 students. Yobe had 124 students while Taraba had 128 students. In 2014, Zamfara had 49 students who got admission to study medicine. Zamfara had 49 students, Kebbi had 78, Nassarawa had 106 and Taraba had108 students. Also in 2015, Zamfara had 54 students who got admission to study medicine , kebbi had 95 students, sokoto had 105 and Jigawa had 111 students. Mr. Soweto said the resources provided for states that are educationally disadvantaged in the northern states especially are not used for what they are provided for. According to him, the pattern reflects the decline in funding in the northern state, decayed facilities in schools in the far north and quality of teachers in schools. |

When the present government came up with the idea of punishing those who engage in hate speech, I entertained some fear that even constructive criticisms will be taken for hate speech. I make bold to say that before the debate on the issue presently on the floor of the National Assembly, Nigerians, including the law enforcement agencies, should be properly educated on the issue. I say this because we might wake up one morning to see that all Nigerian prisons and police cells are loaded with hate speech offenders. A case in hand can serve here. A young boy heard that every Nigerian adult should go and register so as to be allowed to vote in the coming election. He traversed all the areas where he knew such registrations are likely to take place, but nothing was happening anywhere. He repeated the search for three weeks but was highly disappointed. He took to his Facebook page and Twitter to air his views. He wrote that nothing was happening in his area and that there was no sign of INEC and its registration centers. Few days later, it was widely reported that the young boy has been arrested by the DSS for hate speech. The question now is: What is hate speech and what are the things that can make one's speech to be termed "hate"? Is this a strategy to use by government to scare people not to criticized its style of leadership? Is the government planning to intimidate the people from voicing their opinion about the government? In as much as I need honest answers on these important questions, permit me to say that except these questions are properly answered and addressed, efforts at curbing hate speech in Nigeria will be a big joke. |

When I read about the new responsibility vested on the former President Jonathan, I reflected back how Nigerians were 'bought over' to detest anything that has to do with him. I registered as an eligible Nigerian so that I can vote the candidate of my choice but the time to pick up my PVC, I was told that my name was not in the INEC register. I felt bad but they almighty INEC has passed its verdict. My candidate lost. I believe that happened to some other people too. At this period again I went to do the same registration but what I saw was beyond imagination. There was no good arrangement to get every Nigerian registered. There were people - men and women who came from rural areas to get registered. When I inquired, I was told that many of them have stayed there for three days. All the figures INEC is giving out to Nigerians and the delisting of names of dead people might not be for good. How many people have truly been registered? When I complained I was told to go to INEC office and tell them that I want to sponsor the registration in my area. The people told me that others are doing it. This means that I can bribe the Nigerian INEC and have the registration booth brought to my parlour and register whosoever I want. What a shame! This is where Nigeria has degenerated to. Will they not delete those names as they did to me in 2015? Today, the man we kicked out has become a celebrity of a sort. Read this: Former President, Goodluck Jonathan, has been appointed as head of a team of observers to Sierra Leone’s general election scheduled to take place on March 7, 2018. He will serve as leader of the Election Observation Mission of the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa (EISA). Jonathan left Nigeria for Freetown on Friday. A statement by his spokesman, Ikechukwu Eze, announced the appointment. It said the mission has observers drawn from civil society organisations and election management bodies from across the continent. Eze stated that the former president “is pleased to be part of the process in support of a peaceful and transparent election in Sierra Leone.” EISA is a not-for-profit election-focused organization that is working with national, regional, Pan-African and global partners throughout the African continent. It is based in South Africa with field offices across the continent and has supported or observed over 100 electoral and political processes in Africa. Its assignment in Sierra Leone is in line with the organisation’s “vision of an African continent where democratic governance, human rights and citizen participation are upheld in a peaceful environment.” |

adanny01:I'm more than shocked that you are threading on the path of vendatta. Did the Senator invite the military to raid Kanu's house? Assuming that Kanu is dead, who produces him? Reason with your head and not your anus! |
MabraO:Did you write with your anus? You think you are wise. But wait, your generation is in a big trouble because you lack truth. Did the Senator Abaribe invite the military to invade Kanu's house; assuming they had killed him during the unfortunate raid in his house, now who produces him to face trial? Learn to recognize truth and speak it when you see it no matter who is involved. |

Nigerians have been ruminating over the Minister of State's letter and that has sent a very bad signal to the anti corruption war of this administration. The question now is what is this government doing about this serious issue? What we have seen is capable of making Nigerians look the other side in this issue of anti corruption war. I have thought deeply over it and decided to bring it up here. What do we do to NNPC after this letter? READ: Ministry responds to leak of Kachikwu’s letter, Minister of State for Petroleum, Mr. Ibe Kachikwu The Ministry of Petroleum Resources has responded to the leak of the Minister of State, Ibe Kachikwu’s letter, to the public. In a press statement signed by Idang Alibi, the ministry bemoaned the leak of a ‘private’ communication to the public. The full statement is reproduced below. PRESS STATEMENT PUBLICATION OF A CONFIDENTIAL OFFICIAL CORRESPONDENCE The attention of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources has been drawn to a publication on a memo emanating from the HMSPR to the President. Please note the following: The communication under reference is a normal procedural correspondence by the Minister to the President relating to developments in parastatals under his supervision. It is most distressing to the ministry of petroleum resources that a confidential communication to the President on the performance of one of its parastatals can be made public. The focus of the communication was on improving efficiency and deepening transparency in the oil and gas sector for continued investor confidence. It is noteworthy that the President has been fully supportive of the efforts of the Ministry to entrench good governance and accountability in the oil and gas sector. The Ministry of Petroleum Resources remains focused on achieving measurable progress in the implementation of the ongoing oil sector reforms in line with the mandate of the President. Thank you. Signed: Idang Alibi, Director of Press, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, October 3, 2017. AbujaOnline news medium, SaharaReporters had leaked the letter earlier today, implying that there is a rift between the minister, and the GMD of the NNPC, Maikanti Baru, group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Buhari had appointed Kachikwu as NNPC GMD in August 2015 but replaced him with Baru in July 2016.In the letter, Kachikwu accused Baru of “completely eroding” some of the reforms he introduced as head of the oil firm. Kachikwu alleged that Baru had been sidelining the NNPC board.“Like the previous reorganisations and repostings done since Mr Baru resumed as GMD, I was never given the opportunity before the announcements to discuss these appointments. This is so despite being the minister of state petroleum and chairman, NNPC board,” the letter read.“The board of NNPC which you appointed and which has met every month since its inauguration, and which by the NNPC is meant to review these planned appointments and postings, was never briefed. Members of the board learnt of these appointments from the pages of social media and the press release of NNPC.“Indeed, in anticipation of vacancies that would arise from retiring senior executives of NNPC, I wrote the GMD a letter requesting that we both have prior review of the proposed appointments. Not only did he not give my letter the courtesy of a reply, he proceeded to announce the appointments without consultation on board concurrence.“Mr President, please note that there is a board service committee whose function is to review potential appointment and terminationof senior staff prior to implementation. This committee was also not consulted.“The open administration I introduced with your support in our year of pushing reforms, has been completelyeroded. NNPC staff are afraid of contacting me for the fear of being punished, sidelined in appointments and targeted.“The effect of the attitude of the GMD and the sidelining ofthe board is that there is a fear culture in NNPC.”Kachikwu appealed to Buhari to intervene and “save the NNPC and oil industry from collapse arising from above non-transparent practices and empower the board you inaugurated to do the needful”.“That you save the office of the minister of state from further humiliation and disrespect by compelling all parastatals to submit to oversight regulatory mandateand proper supervision whichI am supposed to manage on your behalf,” he wrote.“You kindly instruct the GMD to effectively leave the NNPC to run as a proper institution and report out along due process lines to the board and that your excellency instructs that all reviews be done with the minister of state prior to your decision.“That to set right examples, you approve that the recently announced reorganisation changes be suspended until the GMD , myself and the board have made relevant input to same. This will send a clear signal of process and transparency.“That your excellency encourages joint presentation meeting between head of parastatals and the minister of state to you as to encourage a cultureof working together and implant discipline in the hierarchy.” |

This statement may not truly originate from Mbaka, but if otherwise, then there is a problem. Those of you celebrating it as truth should understand that the whole world alone is a problem that begs for solution. A diagnosed problem is no more a problem. Nigeria is a bigger problem because it is a conundrum. Mbaka is just playing politics to satisfy his paymasters. He stated Igbo problem what are the solutions he proffered? If there is none, then he should be ignored. |
Throwback:Now I know that all these blackmails from you about the Igbo is born out of hatred. You love the status quo in Nigeria where you play politics with everything. Now you resort to blackmail simply to frighten some Igbos that all is not well back home. But where are they accommimimodated best - at home or abroad? This rubbish did not start today - are you now more concerned about the wellbeing of the Igbo when your likes keep quiet and celebrate their killing by the police, the army, boko haram, fulani herdsmen, muslim militants, etc in a country that according to you "loves" them? Is it not better you extend your hatred a little bit far by supporting Biafra so that the Igbos will kill themselves by themselves, and nobody will blame it on you? Destiny killers!!! |
Nellychinma20:I know it Nelly, I must be the right man for you, can we talk? |
See where Buhari has landed Nigeria to the point where people are killing their children to survive! |
