Oblongata:Father: Hello! Who's on the line? Owner: it's the Owner of Dowen school Father: oh, the killers of my son? Owner: I am sorry for the death of Sylvester. His death came to me as a huge shock. The police and school management are carrying out a thourogh investigation on what really happened. At the end of the investigations, I promise you that anybody found culpable or negligent would be punished. Once again accept my personal condolences. May our Lord Jesus Christ give you the strength to bear the loss. HEADLINE NEWS: Dowen owner makes condolence call to Sylvester's father. Vows to punish anyone found culpable. Unless you think the owner herself is culpable or responsible for the murder. Now why was there no sensational headline when the class teacher called the father to console him? |
zedegit:Accepting responsibility for what? If any of my children fail to come to school for 2 days, the class teacher would call to find why. And if I tell them the child is sick, the proprietor would send a delegation to visit the family. Is the school accepting responsibility for the sickness? |
Oblongata:What do you mean misyarn? Are you saying calling the parents to commiserate the family for the loss of their student who happens to be a student of the school will amount to misyarn? So the teacher that called to sympathise with the father was misyarning? This shows how much the school value their students. |
Chibudollar:Believe me if my kid is involved (Which is highly unlikely, as monitor my children), I will not run away or hide them. I will get a lawyer to ascertain the true extent of their involvement and cooperate with the police, state government and the parents of the victim. Non of my children had ever been reported for fighting not to talk of bullying. |
GeneralPula:Different people have different ways of grieving. How can you accuse a father who watched his son die a painful death of catching cruise? Catching cruise for what reason? Celebrating his sons birthday publicly is a way of grieving. I have known a mother that has been celebrating her only son's birthday for the past 20 years. Humans are emotional beings and express emotions in a variety of strange ways. |
Chibudollar:But there are parents that will gladly watch their children die a painful death? Nigerians need to learn the meaning of responsibility. We must learn to accept responsibility for our actions instead of always running away from it. |
osuofia2:Let your son go and break someone else's property and then later ask the owner or police how the accident/arson concerns the mother. You are responsible for your children. |
UTILITYMAY:That's what sympathiser of the school fail to understand. If they had reported the case to the police and have Police detain the murderous students, most people would have supported them. But what did they do? They started covering up. They initally released a very stupid press statement, and then allowed the students to escape. |
IPIGSRHYPO:Closing down the school is in order. It's not knee jerk reaction as the school was not closed down immediately the incident happened or reported. I am certain preliminary investigations has uncovered gross negligence and even complicity on the part of the school authorities, and it will be a disservice to humanity to allow such school to continue to operate. If you listen to testimonies of some of the students, you will see that this is not an isolated incident, but had been recurring and the school had been covering up for the students, probably due to the influence of their parents. In this particular case, the house master and the principal were alleged to be aware of the beatings sylvester endured, but tried to promote football injury narrative. Even the the school doctors and nurses should have been able to differentiate between football injury and beatings with belt and sticks. |
nachisunday:For camp they would over 23 years. At that time they would be full adults, and would not require adult supervision. At 10 - 15 they are still immature and highly vulnerable. They require lots of adult supervision. Boarding school of nowadays don't seem to invest in enough manpower to supervise and protect young vulnerable children. |
DeepSight:E no easy o. Buharinomics is dealing with son of Man. Person just dey work, but money no get value. |
DeepSight:My brother, it's not easy o. You actually feel the pain of your children, especially mothers. |
nachisunday:And I was thinking of sending my children to boarding school next year. This single incident has made me change my mind. They will finish their secondary school at home. And probably school abroad for tertiary education. Can't take chances with rising cultism in our schools. |
TheGift:Understand what? You can only understand if the victim is not your son. If you watched how the boy died, you will be traumatised for life as a mother. If na my wife believe me she go burn down that school. Ordinary flog wey dem flog my daugher (who by the way is asthmatic), she almost closed the whole school. You think say to carry pickin for belle for 9 months and then to train them through primary school na beans or na yams. |
This are the words of the father.( for those who say it's football injury) https://www.instagram.com/p/CXB5lUzNArH/?hl=en |
Nuttella:I know everyone is angry at the gruesome "murder" of the 12 year old, but you can't blame the parents. It due to lack of education. Parents are not taught to recognise signs of bullying. No one knew that bullying would result in murder. It's the responsibility of the school to monitor and punish bullying behaviour by students. Bully victims are most times too afraid or ashamed to report. |
ivolt:The school had already reported that the death was caused by football related injuries. Who reported to the doctor that the injuries were football related? Was it the boy himself or the mates he was playing football with? Please link your source. You seems to be a straw man expert, making up argument as you please.A boy died in the care of a school without proper investigation and treatment and you are yapping " Nothing said so far incriminate the school or anyone else." Nope, most parents who have issues with school never go to the press. So the 5 people should leave the hospital and go to the police station while the child is still struggling for his life? You think the Dad or Mum can leave their son at the hospital and think coherently of anything else while their child is in excruciating pain. As I said you most probably don't have a child yet. What is better competence in treating an injury supposedly sustained during a football match? Please give us more detail report of that football match. Also provide us on treatment given the child as a result of that football match injury before the arrival of the parents. What kind of better treatment did they give your kid?Since you are close to the school, provide us with details of the treatment. So what did you do after getting a call?I went to the school and took my daughter home. The school usually provide first aid treatment before I arrive. Are you sure you are even following the story?Pathetic excuse. Before any treatment can commence for any treatment, the background to the sickness/ injuries must be ascertained by the doctor or nurse. How did the report of the injuries get to the doctor? Did the boy walk all by himself to the school clinic or was brought by his football mates or teachers. At least football accidents occur during the match. For a similar story not involving a school, read this one.No one is lynching Dowen College. A thorough investigation is underway. But you have already exonerated Dowen College and accused the victims. |
ivolt:This one you are defending Dowen College as if your life depends on it. It looks like you have a stake in the school. I trust Lagos State Government to carry out a proper investigation, after which I hope the Police would prosecute all those directly and indirectly involved. Then I expect the father to sue the college for negligence. Here is a report from the fathers perspective. But my son that I saw when we got to school didn't look like who fell. Chidalu's hands, face and legs was swollen and he kept writhing in pains.Watch the video and pictures of the last moments of the boy and tell me if his injuries resemble football accident. https://www.sojworldnews.com/video-of-last-moments-of-12-year-old-boy-allegedly-beaten-to-death-for-refusing-to-join-cult-in-school/ Football accident should involve legs, bruise of a fall. Have some conscience and empathy as a human being. |
Sagamite:Please don't derail this thread. This is not the topic of this thread. This is about the pain of parents watching their son suffer an excruciating death, and about the incompetence of Dowen College in managing the welfare of it's students. If you want to talk about corruption in all facets of the Nigerians society, open another thread and we will discuss. |
You are a very heartless person. Did you watch the video at all, or you just jump to defend the school and all accused due to selfish reasons? ivolt:The school management is working with the information they have but they already but they already put out a statement that the boy died from from injuries while playing football, meanwhile no report has been made (according to you). You are now blaming the parents of the victim? What you are accusing them of I am yet to understand. And after you have concluded your own investigations, you find nothing incriminating the school, the parents or even the accused kids. You only find suspicion incriminating the parents and even the victim. ivolt:You expect the parent to start going to press while their child was still in hospital with doctors battling to save his life. I doubt you have children, so you have no idea of the mental state of a parent whose child is dying. The school is useless. Even If the incident was not so life threatening, a good school should still have shown better competence in handling the welfare of it's students. The "cheap" school my children go to here in Ikorodu is far more competent than the overrated Dowen College. My 13 year old injured his leg in school while playing football today. The school had alread treated the wound before I got to know about it when I got home in the evening. My little daughter is asthmatic. I get a call from the school whenever she gets an attack. And this is a day school. You now mean to tell me that from the time the little boy was injured till the time he gave up the ghost, Dowen College was unaware of the injuries and what led to it? Unbelievable. I pray you grow a conscience. |
Lordave:You guys are just too emotional. You better stick to business and commerce instead of dabbling into politics. Politics require tact, diplomacy and strategy, qualities you guys seem to lack. You are only adept at insults, threats and chest beating. Curry which support in 2023? A comment he made in 2015 is what you’re dragging to 2023? And what does Peterside stand to achieve in 2023 with that comment?Whether the comment was made in 2015 or 2021, it still an effective strategy to curry igbo support politically. Just claim igboness close to a major election and you get block igbo votes, even without promising anything. Also GEJ never claimed to be Igbo and Igbos never claimed him. (I know someone as incoherent as you might think that the support Igbos gave Jonathan meant he was Igbo)Yes president Jonathan never claimed he was igbo, but he claimed that Igbos are the pillars of his administration. Come and see Igbos claim Jonathan even more than his Ijaw tribe. Even today, many Igbos have not moved on from Jonathan 2015 election loss. Ok, let’s assume it was to curry support in 2023 as you want to claim, doesn’t it mean that Igbos have a political stronghold in Rivers State or wherever Peterside comes from? Amaechi Igbo, Peterside Igbo, and many more influential people in Rivers State boldly affirming their Igboness while nonentities keep bleating and crying on Nairaland.Yes, the Ikwerres has a political stronghold in Rivers State politics. It will be impossible to become governor without the support of the Ikwerres. Now whether the Ikwerres are Igbos or not is a subject for another day. Many of us outsiders see them as Igbos. Amaechi, Wike and now Peterside remember their Igboness when elections draw near. But immediately forget after entering office, until the next election. |
Telekinetic:Yeah. I realise the error, it's the "screen devil" as against printers devil. But you guys will never accept your errors. |
Telekinetic:The major flaw of IPOB is their inability to learn or take corrections. Context my dear, context. Scouring the internet to look for the meaning of left to or left for is not a popularity cintest, It depends on the context it is used. If you are using left in terms of decision making, it is left to and never left for. Examples - l left the decision to her, I left it to chance. You are exhibing what is called bigotry. You want to tell me that all Ijaws don’t care about anything other than ogogoro and women. But you will get offended if someone is prejudiced against igbos, says all igbos are cheats/criminals who can do anything for money. |
Telekinetic:You said " Left |
Telekinetic:Oga, why so much anger? They have the rights to live their lives whichever way they choose and it should ordinarily not be your business. Are you that desperate to make them igbo? |
makemoneywbsite:Why do you guys like assigning Ndigbo to tribes that definitely deny the association? Are you guys that desperate to expand biafra land beyond igboland? |
GreatBoss:It's a lie that Goodluck Jonathan added Ebele as his middle name just before the 2011 elections? |
naijapropa:English comprehension. Having igbo roots does not mean we are igbos. Saxons claim German roots but do not claim to be Germans. Itsekiris claim Yoruba roots but do not claim to be Yorubas. Peterside is just making a political statement to curry the support of igbos for the 2023 elections, he might soon change his middle name to Nnamdi, just like Jonathan changed his name to Ebele for 2011 elections. |
FamTomx2:Then you guys don't know Buhari. Buhari is as stubborn as a mule. Buhari has a personal vendetta against Kanu, just like Obasanjo had a personal vendetta against Al-Mustapha. For Buhari to deploy so much resources to kidnap kanu from Kenya, you think he will release him just like that. If the Igbos like let them sit at home till May 2023, let them kill people (as long as it is restricted to Igbo land), Buhari will not budge. |
Rexwalters1:Oyinbo only care about profit and their economy. They will sell weapons to the highest bidder or the person with most resources. |
rickyrex:One man in the US (Jeff Bezos) or one man in China (Jack Ma) makes more money than Nigeria not to talk of salaries. Civil service job is the worse job for a productive and innovative person. I know millions of civil servants that retired at 60 at is useless to themselves and community and only relies on pitiful pension. The Igbos has enough innovative population to overtake Africa. I had the opportunity to work in government but I refused. Today dream is to be Africa's Elon Musk. |
InoGetJoy:The world powers don't need to fight battles for anyone, they need only to provide intelligence, logistic support, arms and training, just like in the last war. The Igbos will get their country. That's a given, it's just a matter of time.Igbos getting their own country would be a very difficult proposition. Various Nigerian governments have made sure Igbos are isolated (dot in a circle). Kanu's style of agitation have made it certain that they have no allies both locally and internationally (probably except israel). It's impossible fighting wars without allies. Even the Taliban had allies in Pakistan and Qatar. After the Igbos get their country, the Yorubas will stay with the North for some years but the north will deal ruthlessly with the Yorubas and the Yorubas will try to get their own country but the entire world won't allow that because they know detaching the north and the Yorubas will lead to a humanitarian crisis as the north, being parasitic, will need a host. Right now, the Igbos are the buffer preventing these jihadists from running totally amok. When they leave, it'll be a harvest of blood in whatever remains of the nigger area. What's currently happening now in the middle belt will be child's play.Just conjectures and dreams would any basis in reality. Time will tell. |
