crash12345:I respects Ghanaians a lot in terms of intelligence. I hope most Ghanaians don't reason like you. It seems you just envy and hate Nigeria and Nigerians for no reason whatsoever. Thank god Nigeria and Ghana still cooperate in lots of spheres. You are getting an orgasm because your government locked 1000 shops, what's 1000 shops to Nigeria. Small Ababa alone contains thousands of shops. You want France as ally as against Nigeria? See how other "French allies" in Africa and other parts of the world are faring. Vietnam fought a bitter war against france and the US, to remove france from Vietnam. See sensible Nigerians protesting France's destabilisation of West Africa. You people need to join us to push france out of West Africa. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsblEEEcuRs |
Danwakae:It's not about whether it's a new issue or not, it's about implementation. All The member states must discuss the terms and conditions of adopting the new currency. UK did not adopt the euro for reasons best known to it. A single block (francophone countries ) can't just sit and decide the terms and conditions of the new currency. |
Danwakae:The Ghanaian response to me was silly. How can you take notice of a declaration made by the president of West African Economic and monetary union on a decision taken by 8 (francophone ) countries (in alliance with france), without your input, for such important issue as the country's currency, and you say you welcome the decision. That's stupidity. Nigeria's response was more mature. It simply means we have to study the declaration to arrive at a decision. |
Here is a group of mostly women led by princess Ajibola leading a protest to the French embassy in Abuja, accusing the French of sponsoring Boko Haram, and attempting to colonize Nigeria. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsblEEEcuRs I am very proud of our women, they seem more aware of real threats from Europeans than we men, who are more interested in fighting for power and control of resources. |
lucane:Like I said earlier you guys are highly ignorant. There are shanties beside many major cities in the world, even in Europe and the US. Most major African cities harbour shanties a few km away. Various governments are always destroying shanties only for them to remove emerge in another sport not so far away. The first picture is an shanty settlement on an abandoned railway line called La Petite Ceinture in the French capital. The second picture is a shanty is just a 15 minute drive from LA’s most famous landmark, the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Skid Row is now a stinking eyesore of tent cities and shantytowns housing 4200 people.

Sirjamo:Why will the Niger delta hold their leaders responsible when Buhari is there? It's like holding yourself responsible for your crimes and sins when the devil is there. They would say "afterall the money is our oil money" and no one has the right to question how they use it. |
sulaak:This is what happens to NDDC funds; Brigadier General CHARLES Nengite is renowned for his brilliance, one of the finest of them all, but he is presently cooling his heels in detention. If the EFCC should as much as arrest NDDC officials and directors, our "it's our money crew" would crawl out of the woodworks. |
PrincewithGod:Believe me if konji dey for hell, many people go prefer to go there. Many many people prefer konji if the only issue na burning heat. Afterall muslims dey blow themselves up because of promise of unlimited konji. |
Lagosfinder:You have an idea of what a one room self contain cost in Bariga, Oworo, Yaba and ajah? Now factor in cost of transportation to and fro everyday. Meanwhile the average salary of these low income workers (drivers cooks, gardeners, nannies, etc) are between 20,000 to about N50, 000 per month, depending on if it is domestic job or office work. Let me add, that each elite's household employ a fairly large number of low income domestic worker, like 2 gate men, 1 house boy/girl, at least 2 drivers (one for oga and one for the rest of the family), then sometimes gardener and cooks. All these people need to like closely and might have families. London was able solve the shanty problem by having a very effective transportation system. Most people sleeping on the streets are bums and not workers. Domestic workers can live 100 km away in a village and make it to work within 1 hour. Transportation costs are taken into consideration in the wages. Besides, being a welfarist state, the government build many low cost housing estates or council flats for poor people, which are given out for almost free. The problem is the waiting period can be very long. |
majamajic:The problem with us Africans is that we are very narrow minded and tend to look at issues from only our tunnel vision perspective. I lived in V/I (bar beach towers) for 20 years and I lived in main Ikoyi for 8 years. So I have wider perspectives from both sides. Yes, all you said is valid from the perspective of the elite, but what of the perspective of the low income workers or services provider struggling to survive. Basic human instinct is survival and would risk everything and defy all odds to get to where he feels his chances of survival are better. People still cross the Sahara desert and Mediterranean Sea, despite the chances of surviving the journey being very slim. I am an architect and in one of my courses called urban planing, it clearly taught me that if you fail to plan for low income housing when planing your urban cities, shanties and squatter settlements will naturally develop. This problem is not unique to Nigeria or Africa. Even France and USA battle with squatter settlements issues. The rich elites often don't like seeing or associating with poor people, except for exploitation. The failure of the ruling elites to make provisions for the poor people always come back and hunt them. I left V/I about 15 years ago and I hardly go there. I went to visit a friend at Muri Okunola last week and I was appalled by the state of the roads. The traffic was horrendous and the roads were terrible. Muri Okunola itself was impassable. I am sorry to say, but with all the allocations going to Lagos and the high IGR, the infrastructures is nothing to write about in terms of maintenance. Yes, I know other states even fare worse than Lagos, it still does not exonerate Lagos State governments. I am one of those that believes the pressure on Lagos is too much, hosting the 2 major sea ports in the country, hosting the most important international airport and now planing on hosting the biggest refinery in Africa and a free trade zone, in such a tiny state? We go soon dey climb on top each other. Anyway the main problem of Lagos is urban planing. There seem to be non whatsoever by the various governments |
majamajic:You people have refused to answer the basic fundamental question; Where will low income people serving and servicing the high brow V/I, Lekki and Ikoyi axis live? |
baby124:You post betrays your naivety and lack of experience. It is only naive people that blame outsiders for their failings, this is what caused xenophobia. I am an architect and I will school you on all low cost housing projects done by previous Lagos administration. A good example is the Odogunyan low cost housing project by the Tinubu administration. Tinubu completed the project in 1992 and sold each 3 bedroom flat for N500,000 each. There are about 500 flats. The various bank - Union Bank, Wema Bank and one other bank I can't remember now, bought the flats in bulk and sold to individuals at N2,000,000. The people that bought from the banks sold at between 3 to 4 million. That is what will happen if Lagos sell at subsidised prices to indigenes. It people that have the money (indigenes or non indigenes ) that will eventually buy it. Besides, the APC Lagos State government is ultra capitalist. They no send where money dey come from. Thank god dey no send indigene or non indigene. They are ready to toll the air you breath if it's possible. The road that Jakande build, they toll it. The road that marwa build, they expanded it and concessioned it. The bridge they build, they toll it. You think the APC government would subsidise houses? |
baby124:This is why I think you are young and inexperienced. Subsidising houses will defeat the very purpose of building the low cost housing in the first place. Subsidy had failed every single time, because it breeds corruption. The law of demand and supply always triumph. If the houses are sold at subsidised prices to "omoniles", the omoniles would simply buy the houses and resell to the non indigenes at 3, 4 or even 5 times the price they bought it. This often happens to lands and properties inherited by indigenes, the children most times sell the inherited properties to non indigenes. |
baby124:And how will that work? Refuse selling to non indigenes and foreigners that bring their cash? Is that not tribal and racial discrimination as an official government policy? What do you mean welfare? Are we in a welfarist or socialist state? |
baby124:And who is asking you to be responsible for everybody. The reason people migrate to Lagos is the same reason people migrate to South Africa, US, UK, Canada, etc, to search for better opportunities. It comes with its good and bad, and ugly. Immigration develops an area and bring in much needed skills and capital, it also creates social tensions in that there are cultural clashes and at worst it also imports criminals along with the skills and capital. It's left for governments to balance these issues and proffer solutions within legal limits, |
baby124: baby124:You need to be put on a watch list for xenophobia. You hate non indigenes with so much passion. Are you initiating that if government builds low cost houses, it should be sold or rented only to Lagos indigenes? |
adeoba2008:You are obviously unexposed. There are shanties and squatter settlements in the USA. |
Vanhooijdonk:Forget traders. There are street traders in New York. There are beggars on the streets of London. As long as there are freedom of movement, nationals cannot be deported. |
baby124:You talk like a kid, an ignorant one at that. I have been in Lagos for over 40 years. I watched Lagos develop. When I moved to V/I in 1980, it was relatively undeveloped. We had to take independence bridge to get to where law school is now, there was no Falomo bridge. There was a village between ahmadu bello and the ocean then. I know many indigenous Lagosians, even most of the traditional ruling families. I personally know the Onirus, the Ojoras, the Oyekans and many others. Lagos was developed by outsiders not indigenes. Indigenes were/are mostly "omoniles" selling lands to others, who in turn build modern buildings. Of course some also went into property development. |
payperpost:And you know this because? I knew many people that lived in bar beach and NPA shanty in the late 2000s. There were hardly any known criminal living there. Most people living in these shanties were low income earners like driver's, domestic staff and office workers. Of course there were the ashawos, but armed robbers and hard criminals? No. For your information, the shanties are not free. The residents pay landlords, sometimes exorbitantly. |
baby124:That is irrelevant. As long as Lagos is a state in Nigeria and the constitution provides for free movement, there is nothing you can do. You cannot deport Nigerians to their states. How will granting Lagos special status ameliorate the problem? Granting Lagos special status simply means Lagos collecting more from the federation account. This means Lagos will build more infrastructure (theoreticall), which will further attract more migrants from other states. It was the granting of special status to Lagos by the colonialists that caused the problem in the first place. Why put all our eggs in such a tiny state when Nigeria has huge landmass? The main problem of Lagos and Nigerian cities as a whole is poor urban and physical planning, concentrating physical infrastructures in very few cities or areas. What do you mean "they should be deported" many people came to Lagos before your parents were born, and have contributed immensely to the economy of Lagos. Lagos was developed by non indigenes. The Tinubus, Fasholas, Adeugas, Ibrus, Elumelus, and hundreds of political and financial power brokers in Lagos were originally not from Lagos. I am certain most of you screaming "they should be deported" are originally not from Lagos. |
baby124:It's not always about running from their own states, it's has more to do with urban planning. Shanties are natural occurrence of high brow urban areas without adequate planning for low income housing. Low income housing should go hand in hand with high income developments. The high income earners needs and hire low income workers like driver's, maids, gardeners, etc. Where do you want them to stay. High income earners need low income services like mechanics, vulcanisers, electricians and convenience shops, where do you want the owners of these services to stay. To make matters worse, the V/I and lekki areas his now a commercial and business district, no provisions whatsoever is made for low income workers..., and you don't expect Shanties to develop? Each time a shanty is demolished, another one develops to take its place. That has been the history of Shanties along that V/I - lekki axis. From maroko to bar beach, to other Shanties that had been demolished down the years. The elites do not want to take eye see poor people, but at the same time need their services. The problem of Lagos State governments over the years is what I called elitist bias. The need poor people only during elections, once elected, the governor only thinks about the elites and carry out elitist programmes. |
Hairdo666:We are saying the same thing, that people are different and a free to live their lives whichever way they deem it fit, as long as they are not breaking the law. If you believe in chastity before marriage, fine but that doesn't make you better that someone that believes in sex before marriage. We also agree that the value of a woman is not whether she is a virgin or not, or have sex (Pre-marital or otherwise ), woman have far more important attributes besides their sexuality. I was in the game for long, and I encountered lots of women who sees sex as a bargaining chip; whether it's straight prostitution or disguised one in the form of material demands before sex. Some would even demand for phones, jewelries, expensive dinings and other things before even agreeing to a relationship. I was praising you that you don't seem to have that entitlement mentality. |
Hairdo666:Na your type i like, no pretense and no bullshitting. You are better than all those hypocritical "holy Virgin Mary" looking sisters who freely dashes choir master, senior pastor and fellow brothers, but preaches "no sex before marriage". They don't know we guys have caught up with their games. Guys marry non pretenders over "holier than thou" looking bible thumping sisters. For example, the only girls that have gotten married through the Big Brother Naija house are the two ladies that got konjirized on live TV. Even though people insulted and stigmatised the girls, they still got marriage proposals from the guys. Bam Bam is already married to Teddy A, despite toilet scene and Gedoni has proposed to Kaffy, despite kaffy almost killing him with punany. This confirms guys hate pretenders, and appreciates girls that truly loves them without conditionalities like IMF. |
luminouzzzzzz:Not really. What is more exposed now is the information itself and not the act. Kids were exploring and experimenting then also, but no one knew of it. Even in Jesus's time it was very difficult to get a 16 year old Virgin girl, they would have been married off by age 15. The parents give them out as soon as they attain puberty. It's in these modern times that girls are expected to remain Virgin into her late 20s after finishing school and getting married. |
helinues:Oh please, you two get a room and stop disturbing us with your serenades. |
czarina:Apology accepted on behalf of all dogs. |
czarina:When you made this quote "We no be dogs, even dogs won't die if they abstain" How you know say "we no be dogs"? Other people's sexuality is not your business. |
czarina:Which one be your own? Is it your konji? If you want to abstain, abstain. Those that want to be dogs, it's their perogative. Dem no come borrow your toto. |
rhames:No you have to be strategic and not be impatient. As someone suggested, he should wait till the end of the session. Carrying out disruptive activities in the middle of the session would affect the school. He should cope as much as he could till the end of the session around July next year. He can then sack everyone and asked interstate staff to reapply. He will have 2 months to put things in order. |
EMILO2STAY:Moon rotate like a wheel? You mean the Tycho Crater and other prominent craters on the moon are constantly changing positions? You mean to tell me that the moon is made of translucent material? Are you saying the moon is made of thin glass plate, ceramics or wax paper? As for the historical records of the sun and moon seen in the sky during an eclipse, the records are there even the encyclopedia of astronomy has it on record. If you don't k owe any of this then you must be a novice. And encyclopedia of astronomy said they based their records on flat earth model? Before, I used to think you were simply ignorant, now I feel you have some fundamental mental issues. Someone needs to get this guy off the streets before he runs completely mad. |
rhames:These are golden information that cannot be taught in any business school. As the boss you have to assert your authority. There is what is called chain of authority and it stops at your table. |
