xtivin:That's because of both a breakdown of the family system and a breakdown the moral fabric of the society. We have been subsumed by crass and unbridled materialism. The type of materialism that Jesus preached against (mind you I am an atheist). The kind of materialism that makes a son want to use his mother for money (ritual or otherwise) and vice versa. The kind of materialism that makes a man want to love-vendor his girlfriend or even wife. A materialism that shuns love, compassion and contentment, but breeds hatred, selfishness and never ending thirst to acquire the whole world. That kind of materialism look for happiness outside instead of within. We have a long road to go, a long road of sufferings, despair and loneliness before we learn. |
xtivin:Yes it's an ancient trade, but it had always been an illegal and sinful ancient trade. At no time was it ever accepted. Prostitution was reserved for the outcasts in society, the women (probably old) that no one would marry. You think the OP would marry the lady, if she engage in prostitution for his sake and bring in millions? Will you marry a woman that sleeps with other men for $10000 and shares half with you? Will you start a family with such woman? The random broke but hardworking guy (not yahoo yahoo) can bring her far more happiness than a millionaire or even a billionaire. |
xtivin:If you see nothing wrong with his reasoning, it shows how depraved our values have become. I blame the prosperity gospel propagated by new age Christianity from the mid 80s. Even the Bible condemns prostitution, but new age Christianity promotes acquisition of wealth by any means - prostitution, kidnapping or stealing. If the OP wants to make money by prostitution, I am sure there are gays among the delegates. As a young man with probably a virgin ass, he can command double or even triple the amount he is proposing for his girlfriend. I don't want to hear homosexuality is a sin in Christianity, as if prostitution is a virtue. |
emekajacobogbon:Go to Ogun state. I mean your bank branch in say Sagamu or Otta. I hear Ogun state banks still collects old notes as per the directive by the state government. |
chukseric504869:Nna you are a good businessman. I trust you are from igbo. |
3ple9iner:They didn't? CBN did not have capacity to print enough new notes to replace the old ones
|
Ayed44:Who would have changed the old notes to new ones when banks and ATMs were still dispensing the old notes one week to the deadline? |
CoolUsername:What you guys fail to acknowledge is that science inherently Has a self correcting mechanism. It relies on data. The more accurate the data, the more accurate the findings. The earth can be flat for 5,000 years, but once new data comes from a new invention called the telescope, it becomes round/sphere. Same for gravity. Gravity was a force that pulls objects together for over 200 years, but once data came from space observations by telescopes (again), it no longer a force but a warping of space-time. Let me add one more example; For over 5000 years leprosy, rabies and diseases were caused by demons and spirits, but with invention of microscope, new data became available and diseases came to be caused by bacteria, viruses, protozoans, fungi, etc. Covid19 was a novel corona virus, as more people got infected more data was obtained and more accurate predictions ( and vaccines) were made. Yes there might have been a few errors and contradictions in the beginning due to limited data, but as millions of people got infected and more scientists got involved, the facts became clearer. We still have no choice but to rely on the experts instead of our gut instincts or media and political opinion leaders. |
KingAzubuike:Ikorodu ke? Abeg no compare light with darkness. Ikorodu gets at least 16 hours of light a day except there is local transformer problem. Ikorodu never gets flodded during rainy season. Ikorodu has numerous Chinese and Lebanese companies and thus an economy. |
IjeBos:I don't agree that Nigeria should align with the US. We should not align with anyone, but continue to be non aligned. We go with who best serves our interest (both short and long term interests). The US has proven to be an unreliable ally. Those third world countries that aligned with the US has nothing to show for it outside US teleguided democracy, US culture and morals and US aids that's akin to a Greek gift. |
CoolUsername:Hunting for what? In the 21st century? How many game is still out there that all millions of Missouri males (from teens) are expected to hunt constantly and periodically? Then what types of guns are we even talking about? Hunting guns, rifles, handguns or even adult rifles? I don't know understand the obsession of Republicans with guns. Guns have nothing to do with conservativism. |
mechanics:They bought it from his children. |

CoolUsername:I have never seen a book called Lawn Boy before we can even talk about reading it. I have only seen a few passages from a single page posted here. I have no idea the plot or synopsis of the book. So I honestly have no opinion for or against. The issue of its appropriateness for a school library should be between the parents, teachers and school authorities. What I don't even understand is whether the book is part of the school or state curriculum. Is it part of any subject taught at the school? As I insist, this is a school (or at worst a few schools) issue. How it got into a national frenzy that necessitated banning and vetting all books in all schools in Florida is beyond me. |
raumdeuter:This is still one isolated case of misjudgment by a school management. It's not a state policy by democrats as being pushed by extreme right. If the parents are not happy with the school management decision, there are more practical ways to seek redress. Either a petition to the state's educational board, the courts or at worst seek another school. These parents are democrats, republicans white black all works who will rather their kids be taught what they approve of which is Maths Science English etc and not be groomed like the Democrats wish toAt least you recognize that it's not a democratic/ liberal policy. It's the personal decisions the managers of that particular school. They can be of any political party, race or religion. Republicans new political strategy is to elevate isolated issues to the level of frenzy and outrage. Political campaigns have become an outrage shopping fiesta. Immigration, drugs, crime, homosexuality, foreign policy, etc., issues that transcends party, administrations and time. Everything is presented with an agenda to cause outrage and anger, with little or no policy suggestions. |
adamusuleiman1:This is the dangerous dimension Trump has introduced to US politics. It attack and insult all and any political opponent. It's such a negative strategy, and it appeals to negative people with negative aura. This strategy worked I the first presidential campaigns, I wonder if it will work again. I know Trump will go after DeSantis Family and past. He will spend millions to dig out the minutest details of his past and those of his parents. His supporters will be cheering gleefully. I think this is the reason the Republican Party is scared of Trump. They are afraid of trump digging up their pasts as no one, and I mean no one has a clean past. Even though Trump has the dirtiest past of all of them, the problem is that his supporters don't care, the more sordid Trump past is the more they defend and love him. Remember he boasted he could shoot someone in Broad day light, and he would not lose any supporter. Anyway,Ron DeSantis should get ready for a mudfight. If he is not ready to get stained, he better jejely give up before the fight starts. |
raumdeuter:Jesus Christ! You guys know how to make a mountain out of a molehill, rather a mountain out of a pimple. So, this one page is what the whole outrage is about? One page out of one book out of one library (or a few libraries) and boom republicans want to vet and ban books in all school libraries in the United States. It seems republicans main political strategy is "outrage". They take a few isolated cases of errors or misjudgement and the blow it out of proportion and then elevate it to a democrat/leftist policy or agenda, then outrage. So because this page of this book is in this school library, democrats/leftist are grooming children or teens for sex? In that case we were over groomed for sex, because in my own school library in the 80's, there was james hardly chase, Mills and boom, and lots of romantic novels in my school library. In fact I learnt to be a fast reader on these novels, because when you borrow them, you have less than 3 days to return them, as the next person is waiting. In this era of Internet and smartphones, republicans think banning books (like in medieval europe) would stop kids from accessing information. It not that I oppose removing books that parents are uncomfortable with from school libraries, but making it a national or state policy is just stupid. These decisions should be taken at PTA levels. Parents cannot outsource the moral upbringing of their children to schools and teachers, they need to be actively involved. |
Bridget95:From the Europeans. The Caucasians are a war loving race. Their whole history is littered with wars, wars of domination and wars of stealing and plundering others peoples resources, including women. They are obsessed with world domination. From Alexander the great, to Augustus Caesar, from Napoleon to Hitler. Black Africans were very peaceful people until they came in contact with Europeans and Arabs. We never warred against each other or tried to build empires. |
FromZeroToHero:After finishing, what of furnishing? Furnishing to include electronics, security and equipments (eg. generator). Furnishing alone will gulp the 60 million. |

NOGRUDGES:What determines the gender of spirits? Hormones, X and Y chromosomes, Dicks, breasts and vaginas? |
Albertone:I drive my wife's auto once in a blue moon. It only seem awkward for the first 10 or 20 mins. The only problem is the reflex movement of my left leg in attempting to press an imaginary clutch. I cope by planting my left leg firmly on the ground and make sure I never move it unless I want to get out of the car. Steering and everything else is the same. |
Rolings:That's not exactly correct. Indirect primaries does not mean party leaders nominate candidates for elective posts. What it means is that party leaders nominate delegates that will in turn vote on behalf of different constitutuences or interests in primary elections. |
Albertone:Driving Manuel vehicles is like riding a bicycle. Once you master it, you can never forget. |
Rolings:If SC reinforce party supremacy, then it means no need of primaries. Party leaders should just nominate candidates to fill all the elective positions. |
Hidentity:You are missing the point people are raising about your bias. You seem to be more sympathetic to the plight of the Ekwerenmadus than that of the boy. You sound more sympathetic to the plight of the rich and privileged than the poor and helpless. There are millions of poor Nigerians dying because of lack of money to buy simple malaria and typhoid drugs costing less than N5000. You think someone that died because of a perforated stomach due to untreated typhoid did not pass through excruciating pain? People like Ekwerenmadu has the power to save the lives of millions of poor Nigerians, but they just don't care. But you expect poor Nigerians to care about their own pains. |
wink2015:If we are to follow the law, senator Ekwerenmadu should have stopped being referred to as a serving senator. The law stipulates the number of sittings per session a senator must sit. Failure to meet the required number of sittings would result in the seat being declared vacant. Senator Ekwerenmadu has not sit for close to a year now. |
LAXconfidential:If it was Nigeria, the matter would get to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court would then find Ekwerenmadu innocent and the boy guilty on technicalities. They would say the boys lawyers made a technical error by saying he was homeless when he has a home. So the boy would be ordered to donate his kidney and 5 years in jail as punishment. |
seunny4lif:If you japa abroad, you would not get a job as a driver if you can't drive manual. |
TPound:All my cars are manual, it's my wife that drives automatic. I don't feel I am in full control with automatic. |
kelmicheal:You indomie generation have no clue of what you are talking about. Are you now telling me that trucks, trailers and heavy duty vehicles are automatic? Automatic does not do well or last in bad roads. |
