CaptainFM1: Their withdrawal is still not affected considering how much they've got in the bank if the bone of contention is about the maximum daily withdrawal. I'm not focused on the digital but on the maximum daily withdrawal.
If all I earn monthly is 30k, and I can withdraw 20k maximally everyday by whatever platforms I chose. It simply means I can make withdrawal twice.
The clause is that if however I want to withdraw all my 30k at once, then I will pay the fine stipulated for that...which was why I said the 20k is fair and 50k is reasonable. Maybe you reason this way because you are a salary earner. Me as a business man reason differently. I know the 30k minimum wage don't mean jack to business people. I know road side hawkers that handle more than 30k cash per day. Petrol stations make more than 30k per transaction. Even fish or crayfish sellers make more thN 30k turnover per day. I have not even mentioned construction contractors that needs to pay tens of workers their daily wage at the end of the day. Nigeria does not have enough people banked at the moment to impose such strick restrictions. Only about 45% of adult population have bank accounts. The informal economy is way bigger than the formal economy. A wise CBN would embark on a drive to get more Nigerians banked before imposing such cash restrictions.

No one is a fool, Emefiele is going nowhere, the politicians should continue crying for all I care I am yet to understand the rational behind using whataboutism as a defence to a crime. If my brother should rape a girl, I should demand that unless a neighbour from a different tribe that also raped a young girl must be arrested before my brother can be arrested. The defence should not be whether he commited the crime or not. |

CaptainFM1: ......Daily withdrawal..... 20k is fair. 50k is reasonable too.
But, come to think of it....."Civil Servants only earn #18k monthly, and even at that some states are still owing them"
Logically, the daily 20k should be sufficient going by what an average Nigerian earns.
Notwithstanding, the CBN puts a clause to it that if you are going to withdraw more than the 20k daily, then a certain percentage will be paid...which is very fair.
In my own view this is a very good policy for the poor masses because all they earn can be withdrawn in one day anyway. You stay in big cities and project the rest of Nigeria to your personal experience. Have you been to riverine villages in the Niger Delta where you go on 3 to 4 hours boat rides to access from the main city? Such villages got no banks. There are hundreds if not thousands of such communities in the north, West and middle belt. Then we start talking about internet or network access to operate digital banking. Not all communities have electricity not to talk of network. I don't quarrel with digital banking, but it has to be done slowly, tactically and innovatively, and not rushed haphazardly as it is being done. |

He should have resigned when he aspired to be the president.
Many of those in CBN are politicians. Soludo, Adebayo Adelabu (Accord party guber candidate in Oyo State) and many more. You mean she knows and deliberately lied under oath to the national assembly? ZooOga: The highly esteemed Financial Times says Mr Musk has his work cut out for him.
Elon Musk/Twitter: messy finances raise prospect of bankruptcy Chief’s forecasts give social media company less than a year before it needs more funds
If Elon Musk’s off-the-cuff financial statements are accurate, Twitter’s creditors should brace themselves for a potential default. On Tuesday, the billionaire entrepreneur made an impromptu appearance on the platform’s live audio service and told listeners the situation was “not good”.
Musk cast himself in the role of austerity saviour, saying that before his cost cuts Twitter’s outflows were set to reach $6.5bn next year, including interest payments. His forecast of $3bn in revenue and $1bn in cash gave Twitter less than a year before it needed to raise more funds or risk missing payments.
Job cuts lower outflows, albeit that redundancy payments will eat into savings. Musk has removed half the workforce. Others have left voluntarily and workers are under order to find $1bn in infrastructure savings. If he can halve costs, Musk can push the crunch point forward to early 2024.
Of course, costs may rise, eroding that advantage. Twitter has $12.5bn of debt as the result of Musk’s leveraged buyout, creating $1.5bn of annual debt servicing costs. Twitter is, by extrapolation, paying an eye-watering interest rate of around 12 per cent. This is partly because of rising rates but it is also a marker of the high risks perceived by lenders. Intangibles and short-term investments make up a large proportion of Twitter’s assets. Most of the debt is unsecured.
Banks still appear to have underestimated the problems ahead. The company has not reported an annual profit since 2019. But at least revenue was growing before Musk arrived. Now it is forecast to drop 40 per cent from 2021, the last full year of results prior to the takeover. The fall reflects a worse exodus of advertisers than rivals have experienced. S&P Global expects social media peer Snap to report 23 per cent revenue growth over the same time period.
This is Musk’s fault. Advertisers are unhappy that his relaxation of moderation has increased the risk of adverts appearing alongside abhorrent content.
Investors, including Musk, could lose their equity. Filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy would allow the company to reorganise and even raise new funds to support ambitious Super App plans. But creditors would have to agree. They could also take control of the company.
Musk may opt to buy the debt himself. But if banks offload it elsewhere, Twitter may end up in the hands of distressed debt funds. From frying pan to fire in one easy flip.
https://www.ft.com/content/59649af9-2538-4121-af3c-f35b337522c4?ftcamp=traffic/partner/feed_headline/us_yahoo/auddev Added to Elon Musk's woes is the fact that sacked disgruntled employees are starting their own social media platform, in a addition to Jack Dorsey launching a new platform. All to compete with Twitter. It will be a miracle if twitter doesn't file for bankruptcy within the next 12 months with the way Elon Musk is running Twitter.
