Actually the president does have the right to order a DOJ investigation. He is head of the executive branch and the chief law enforcement officer of the country. The AG and DOJ are under him.

Most presidents just don’t do it because it’s considered unethical. Especially if the person he is asking to be investigated is a political opponent.

The president can't order the DOJ to investigate a person. Yes the president can order the investigation of a crime not a person. That's where Trump and his worshippers get it wrong, all they shout is "lock her/him up" without first specifying the crime, then investigations, then presenting evidence before a jury, before finally locking her up.
Proving a crime is a very tedious affair, and your evidence has to prove guilt "beyond all reasonable doubt".

That's when Trump says investigate hunter Biden, investigate Burisma, investigate Hillary, no justice department official would take it serious, because it will be a waste of time.

It does not work that way. A president cannot just order the justice department to investigate anyone. Trump was president with republican legislatures in both houses, he tried to get the Justice Department to investigate hunter Biden, Jim Comey and other political opponents, it did not work. You first need to have a prima facia case with concrete evidence before DOJ, FBI can investigate anyone. You need to present your evidence before a court before you can raid anyone's House. No DOJ, FBI or military officer will obey an unlawful order. That's what separates the US from dictator countries like Russia, Iran and North Korea. During the last couple of weeks of Trump presidency, particularly after January 6, no officer - both military and civilian were obeying Trump's orders. He could not even order his driver on where he wants to go.

To me the speech was uninspiring with no substance outside normal Nigerian political rhetorics. In the beginning one would think Tinubu was campaigning for a third term for President Buhari, as he spent considerable time eulogising Buhari. He often veered off-point and had to be brought back to script by interruptions by the D.J. Abike Dabiri often had to correct correct his gaffes particularly when he couldn't read and pronounce umbrella.

It will be difficult for Tinubu to have a one on one with a reporter or have an open debate.

Beer parlour or peppersoup joint, debates are direct or physical engagements with the electorates. Other forms of direct engagements are door to door campaign, town hall meetings, open air campaigns, media rounds etc. Campaigns should not be restricted to traditional rulers, religious leaders, party faithfuls, local tribal groups and political big wigs.

This shows that the electorates are not considered important in winning elections in Nigeria.

Even in previous republics debates or at worst door to door campaigns were critical to election victory. But now, the participants are so brazen in the rigging that they feel they don't need to convince the electorate in a debate or door to door campaign. They just need to pay political big wigs, thugs, traditional rulers, religious leaders Election officials and judges, and they win elections.
