jornwhite:I never claimed I knew her source of income. I've always maintained that neither of us can tell for sure. If she got the latest model, the car is not more than N35m, and a man giving it to her, though not impossible, is not the only possibility. You assuming she's a prostitute just cause she's a single actress and not that you know her is profiling and that's insane coming from a black Nigerian man who gets profiled virtually everywhere he goes even in his own country. What you lack is exposure. |
Kingsbridge:Nice to hear. Enjoy your day. |
Most men in Africa are yet to come to terms with the fact that a woman can earn just as much as they do and even more without being man dependent. |
Kingsbridge:Free you? Dude, I didn't quote you, remember? You quoted me cause I kicked against those insisting a man gave her the car. So you're clearly the one that took a side against my submission. And I'm only defending my stance which is that a man buying it for her is only a possibility and should be left as such. On a different not, people that type "smiles" or use smilies a lot are usually depressed... just a possibility. |
BluntTheApostle:Maybe, maybe not. My point is, cooking up a narrative that appeals to us and insisting on it being a fact is a habit onhere, and it's not a very sensible one. |
jornwhite:No, you're the one not getting it. Questioning her source income is one thing, insisting on a particular narrative is another. Except you were there when the man was giving her the car, it's only an assumption. |
Kingsbridge:Whatever is the amount does not tell the story of how she got the money, dude. Except you were there when the man was giving it to her, you can only assume. |
Kingsbridge:Ignorance is bad and being knowledgeable is coming up with a probabilistic narrative and stamping is as a fact? A man buying it for her is a probability, dude. You guys should know how to present your assumptions. It's mostly in Africa that people will come up any narrative that suits them or appeals to their ego and start pushing it as fact. The countries you mentioned don't go around calling women harlots cause of their earning. They leave the authorities to do their work. Nothing justifies the cyber attack on celebrities in Africa. If she's so materialistic or fanatic about cars that she'd save up her earnings from movies, awards, endorsements and other in investments that you and I don't know about, you think N20m would be an impossible target? If she was part of an inheritance sharing recently and decided to user her part to buy a car, would you know? If she had borrowed from the bank to pay back in installments, would you know? Even if she was a robber, would you know? The fact is that you and I do not know anything about her bank account. We only only know her as an actress. While you may have doubts about her source of income, cooking up the narrative of a man being her source and stamping it as a fact and not just a possibility can't be more sexist. It's not just about her, it's about all the threads we've been seeing here. |
BluntTheApostle:You know her as an actress doesn't mean you know all her sources of income. |
BreconHills:Thanks for your detailed and logical contribution. Though I don't think Hollywood actors go around detailing to the public what they earned from what except in rare occasions. Producers might announce the total amount made from a blockbuster movie for investment and tax purposes but not necessarily how much each actor is paid. Having said that, the fact is that there are many ways she could have raised that money. Like I said to someone here, if she's so materialistic or fanatic about cars that she'd save up her earnings from movies, awards, endorsements and other investments that you and I don't know about, you think N20m would be an impossible target? If she was part of an inheritance sharing recently and decided to user her part to buy a car, would you know? If she had borrowed from the bank to pay back in installments, would you know? Even if she was a robber, would you know? The fact is that you and I do not know anything about her bank account. We only only know her as an actress. It's just about her, it's about all the threads we've been seeing here. |
jornwhite:You think Genevieve buying the car is easier to take cause you've seen her on your screen more often than you've seen Destiny but the fact is that neither of us know Destiny's source of income. All we know is that she's an actress. Besides, she can buy that car if she's a car freak who's been saving for it for long. The narrative of a man buying it for her is just a possibility. Stamping that as a fact is is not sensible. I'm sure this wouldn't be a problem if it was a man. We'd just all assume he got it from his hustle and congratulate him. |
na2016:So sensible is insisting a man bought it for her? If she's so materialistic or fanatic about cars that she'd save up her earnings from movies, awards, endorsements and other in investments that you and I don't know about, you think N20m would be an impossible target? If she was part of an inheritance sharing recently and decided to user her part to buy a car, would you know? If she had borrowed from the bank to pay back in installments, would you know? Nuel4:Dude, stop typing like a teenager. Men like this guy are the reason a lady wouldn't want to date a single guy. You guys like to blame women all the time but call men "my G" when they do the same thing, and you think that's cool? Smh |
Freestainworld:I don't understand. What is it with you guys and sexism? Were you there when the man was buying it for her? If not, why are you profiling her just because she's a single lady? Were you people not the ones complaining about how SARS was profiling you or how the western media profile Nigerians? How then do you think it's okay to profile women based on stereotypes? How can you guys in Africa claim you want your women to be industrious and independent, and yet would always shame anyone that seems to be making it? Development is not just about skyscrapers, the mindset of Africans needs a major 'overhauling'. |
paulemmy19:And yet he went ahead to create them. |
“Do you know that the so-called Bobrisky was going to set up the African Chapter of Gay and LGBT or whatever they call it in Nigeria during his recently aborted birthday party? People from over 70 countries arrived in Lagos for the event.Lol... that's a lame one. Set up LGBT in Nigeria? Dude, LGBT is collective term used to refer to the minority sexual orientations and alternative genders. It's not a group you sign papers to join and it definitely doesn't need a chapter. Whatever you stopped Bob from doing, only both of you know. If they had launched that thing, Nigeria would have been destroyed by now.So Bob has the power to destroy Nigeria? Boko people didn't, the herdsmen didn't, but Bob can do that? That's a lot of power! Apparently, this guy's personal beef with the cross dresser is making him sound dumb. Anyway, there's no law against cross dressing. So you can't chase anyone out of thier country cause you aren't more Nigerian than they are. |
Certification of participation? If the girl's name is the one in the certificate, it means the guy is the actually the public property. Lol |
The male ones buy too. We've just gotten so used to men having properties that it's only news when women acquire such. |
It's either the government finds a way to regulate crypto or outrightly ban it. |
apatheticme:Her? Lol... that's a guy. He goes around insulting or discrediting women. I find it surprising that a someone would dedicate such amount of time to sexism.
|
crackhouse:Hahaha... ![]() |
Pochettino:Asexual reproduction? |
The Nigerian population is naturally inclined to side the man. When news are shares portraying women as the bad ones, we swallow it sans doute and shout "fear women", but when it's against a man, we try to water down the crime or even find a way to blame the victim. The truth is, the fact that she's asking for her school fees doesn't invalidate her claim. Let's not concentrate on the minor things and leave the major allegation. Even the surname change request whether granted or denied is inconsequential in comparison with the actual allegation which is a very heavy one. For the possibility that she could be telling the truth, I think it's mean of anyone to brush her story aside just cause of her demands. Those shouting "fear women" are already wired to scream that regardless of the situation. Nevertheless, if she's not being honest, she won't only regret it some day but will also hate her mum for it. |
Wizkid takes pic with his son = Odogwu Wizkid's baby mama takes pics with her son = Olosho The bias is alarming. Cute son! |
OgogoroFreak:It's actually neater and safer to do vasectomy on yourself instead. |
Lol @"all the blame was on me". Who was meant to take the blame before? Me? Whenever the write-up starts with "I'm not a saint o, I have my faults but...", it usually someone trying to water down his own shortcomings while fixating on other people's missteps. Bro, nothing in your write-up shows you're really willing to take responsibility for your actions. Rather, it seems you're more interested in playing the victim. First, you were caught engaging in an amorous conversation with another woman when you have a serious relationship (there's nothing like "I don't even mean the conversation" ) and when you were confronted, you assumed the position of the victim, got angry and left the house. Even when she texted you, you were still angry and asked her to drop the key somewhere instead of engaging her in a reasonable dialogue. What were you expecting really? You wanted her to beg you to forgive her for allowing you engage another woman? She called on those she believed could assist her (apparently, she really wants the relationship), you were reprimanded and you're telling us all the blame was on you; maybe Buhari should have been blamed. Now, you're assuming the position of a helpless young man whose girlfriend is blackmailing emotionally. Well, while this is not impossible, I'd say your mind is probably playing tricks on you and your conscience is clapping for it. The human brain has a way of connecting actions to reactions. You'd link everything she does to the issue you had, and you'd keep assuming the worse until you both have the necessary chat. So don't be sorry for your bad grammar; if it didn't stop you from chatting with the other girl, there's nothing wrong with it. Instead be sorry for your actions and talk things over with your partner. Like I said, you don't seem remorseful. You're rather more interested in making us judge your woman as if it would help validate your actions and make you feel better. But the truth is, regardless of the responses you get here, you'd still bear your cross all by yourself. If you love her, talk it over with her. Otherwise, you know what to do. #MyOpinion |
