Nice one. What does native mean in this context? Is Arabic really native to Africa? |
Lol... I'd say the boss behaved like guys when they want to dump their girlfriend. But then, the story is very improbable. I think it's either incomplete or fake. |
I'm having a hard time relating the title of this thread with the content. As for the pic, that was obviously a sarcastic response to someone that aimed at insulting her. And even if it wasn't, she's a single lady old enough to have a man. I don't know why we make it a big deal when a lady is expressive. After, we'd still be ones complaining Nigerian girls shy away from expressing themselves. |
I like the name, "Devour". |
Africans and thier self destructive behaviours |
Lol... OP, just in? |
Denique:Thanks! ![]() |
wiseone28:Like the leopard above, yeah. |
Hhmm... Nice write-up, OP! Here's my input. I think the products Africans consume are a reflection of thier economy. You just can't enjoy what you can't afford. Those phones you consider low quality are the reason why an average Nigerian can afford to stay connected today. Otherwise, the use of mobile devices would have still been a thing for the rich alone in Africa. I think the regulatory bodies check for compliance to national policy (energy efficiency regulations, labeling requirements, radiocommunication acts, etc.) and not necessarily quality in terms of performance. A fully compliant device might still have low quality and the regulatory bodies would still let it pass if there's demand for it. Asides from medical equipment, I don't think it's the duty of a regulatory body to sieve out products based on perfomace because technology is usually scaled out. This means the lower the quality, the lower the price. People are therefore given the chance to make their choices. In other words, a good deal of the phones sold in Africa could still pass the regulatory requirements in the US. But would they be successful in the market? The answer is no. This is because the devices are specifically scaled to fit the African market. In other words, the quality/price relationship is adjusted to meet the purchasing power of an average African. If the phones are imported into Canada for example, it would die a natural death cause an average Canadian can afford an iPhone given the minimum wage factor. So many of these devices you criticize were designed to cater for the low income earners (majority of which are in Africa). And each would naturally disappear the moment the average African's purchasing power goes above its offerings (at the individual level, you naturally go for a better phone when your earning goes up). It would, therefore, be a brute force economic policy to attempt to sieve them out when your people can't afford the high quality ones. Thanks for sharing. |
The prey could neither outrun the leopard nor defeat it in a combat. One would then wonder why the leopard had to put up a show first before grabbing its meal. Well, there's no telling for sure what these beasts were thinking. Usually, animal lovers like myself would come up with theories based on past observations or behaviors studied over time. In my opinion, I don't really think it was just antics as the OP termed it, I believe the predator already considered the prey 'dead' and ready to be eaten, and therefore felt no need to be aggressive. After an aggressive chase, these big cats normally settle down to enjoy thier meal the moment it's incapacitated (regardless of the fact that it might still be alive). They carefully but quickly scout the environment for scavengers and then either start eating their catch or drag it to a safer place. The leopard above didn't get enough movement from it's prey to trigger its aggressive instincts. The touching was just to measure the prey's skittishness (which in turn tells it the amount of life left in it) and since the prey didn't make any move, it quickly moved to the second phase which is observing the environment to figure out if the meal could be eaten there or should be taken to a more secure location. Even domestic cats do this. |
wiseone28:Lol... We both know it's the other way round. ![]() |
You sniff around and then turn around to call someone else a dog? Lol... the irony of it all. |
thundafire:In my view; the US is by far the world's largest economy. Even if she was never a US citizen, America would still have more influence on world trade than Nigeria. Again, to a great extent, African as a whole has never really been a threat to the US, so I don't think she'd really be torn between the bidding of the two countries. Assuming she was a Chinese with American citizenship, that's where the issue of whose bidding to follow would arise. I believe getting the US citizenship was a strategic move and what we read here is the result. |
Africans and aggression |
thundafire:Well, her nationality will always say Nigerian-American. This is not some international sporting event where she must represent a particular country. |
Dizzyrascal:Lol... what would the name be? HomoVid-400BC? ![]() |
LordsBattleAxe:Ok... I must admit I didn't see this coming. Thanks! |
bareal:Lol.. Thanks. |
I'm happy for the guy. The dream of every gay person is to be accepted by their family. The world already hates Bolu for the way he is, his family rejecting him would be the last straw. To everyone reading this, if you can't accept any possible nature of a child (dwarf, lanky, effeminate, tall, short, straight, gay, bisexual, intelligent, dull, albino, hunchback, etc.), don't bother having kids. Babies are like parcels, don't request for one if you can't accept some contents. Heavens will not forgive you for bringing a child into this world just to turn around and join the world in hating him. Ladies and gentlemen, let the bashing begin! ![]() |
MejiLoyon:She wants to marry him because the African society is forcing people who aren't heterosexuals into heterosexual relationships. At the end, it backfires. OP, it appears she's lesbian. I really don't see you having a happy marriage with her cause marriage doesn't change one's sexuality. But that's up to you to decide what you can condone and what you can't. |
Germanhunter:Lol... Mr Germanhunter, I'm sorry but you don't seem like someone I can have reasonable conversation with. Enjoy your weekend, sir. |
She didn't. And if they're both fine, I'm happy for them. But this doesn't invalidate others that do it the other way round. The man is the one asking the woman if she loves him well enough to accept him as her husband. Logically speaking, the requesters should be the one showing humility. I really don't see any logical reason to support the idea of the woman kneeling down. Men just like to feel in superior in every little thing even when it's seemingly inconsequential and outrightly illogical. |
Obi1kenobi:Lol... It's just ridiculous. |
amuwo1980:Of course. When someone speaks up for women here, he's called a woman hiding behind the screen. When someone says anything against the government, he's called an IPOB member. When someone says anything that doesn't sit well with the Igbos, he's called jealous or a skull miner. If you speak up for gay people, you must be gay. It never really occures to you guys that people can speak up for others without necessarily being a part of them or suffering their oppression. This fact is alien to Africans where no one speaks up for others without a direct gain. |
Cashalhaji:Why is it all about his father? You really think his decisions about his own life should be all about his father? How about the possibility of him trying to live freely and happily being himself without having to hide or live a pretence? Why would anyone live a life of lies and hiding? Do you think those millions of closeted gay people are happy? Have you imagined living a life where you'd have to hide the fact that you're into women? This is about him not willing to sacrifice his happiness for his father's or his political ambitions. This is about him not having to watch his back every second. If it embarrasses his father, so be it. He's not ignorant of his actions; instead, his education has taught him to be himself. The karma/spirituality part is just ridiculous, I'd just let it be. |
Neddstark:He was only correcting someone that made a wrong assertion. A straight person says animals are never gay and he's corrected, then he comes comes back with "are you an animal?" Then why bring in animals in the first place? |
francisgoshen01:I'm sure his father didn't just learn about his son's sexuality. Gay people normally come out to their families before going public. But even before coming out to the family, I'm almost certain they had been suspecting right from his childhood. If it's something they could change, they'd have done it long ago. |
Germanhunter:Here we go... A straight person says even animals are never gay. He's corrected and he fires back that doesn't justify anything. Then why bring animals into it the first place? Gay people don't need to justify anything before you. You're in no position to dictate who's sexuality is just. Asking people to justify their nature is bizarre. It's like asking you to justify your nationality. |
Amitez:Lol... did you even attempt to read up a little before typing this? Anyway, no need to drag it, there are gay animals. Such animals are also the minority. And unlike humans who seek and mingle with fellow gay people, most of these animals don't have the intelligence to do that so they remain sexually inactive for life. A few of them force themselves on others of the same gender cause they're animals. Asides from the fact that I've seen a lesbian fowl (in Africa, of all places), videos and images of gay animals are all over the internet. A little googling would have saved us the stress. |
Lol... Nairaland people. You're looking for a sex partner, and you're talking about cheating and being fateful? |
