It boggles the mind why most members fail to discern the gratuitous severity and extremity of the ban that makes it outrageous and unfair. Come on, the dude was wrong to insult a mod, but it is very wrong to give him such a lengthy ban. If placing a ban on an errant member is a corrective measure to promote good conduct and decorum, one might ask of what use is the relevance of such an unreasonably lengthy ban?

Was the ban placed on him as a show to massage the overbloated ego of some members? Whose aim does such lengthy ban serve? Whatever the case, it is only fair that the ban should be reduced to make nairaland appear as a space where both members and moderators are placed under similar rules and regulations.
Placing a plan on a forum member isn't just to correct them; sometimes it's meant to keep them away permanently so as to make the space safer for others. I visited Africa in 2009, joined a forum called 2go (or something similar) and my number was banned for life cause of some "misbehavior". Lol. Nairaland is even better. Anyone can easily create a new account.

2039 is an unreasonable amount of time, I have been to other forums and online community (non-Nigeria). It is usually quite respectable there, the mods usually ban account that go against the rules for a day, days or week(s). If the problem is getting out of hand, the user account would be suspended but, not some decades of lengthy ban.
It's funny how people can insults or troll each other for several pages on this forum and they haven't been flagged by the mod/bots.

There, there is fair hearing and an appeal of course to restricted account. Mods can be reported and also get suspended
You just jumped in and started typing. How many of those forums you talk about have people sending to mods what the OP sent to this mod? Y'all want to be treated like the those out there but you don't want to act like them. If this were to be in any of those foreign countries, the OP could be arrested for threatening someone's life. Let's call a spade a spade.

Dear Mod, A pieces of advise to you - Please forget the moral tutor for now, get the Op one-o-one, let him reverse those curses with prayers. And most importantly you guys should end it all with lots of laughs(A light hearts). Finally you and him should delete this thread and every trace of those curses from cyberspace. Shalom.
Lmao... religious folks have taken over.

North America has achieved integration over a very long time. Their cooperation today didn't fall from the sky. In Europe most of these countries are hugely if not entirely homogeneous in some cases. This has greatly fostered cooperation. Africa is constructed in a very bad way with greatly disjointed nations due to senseless acts of the colonialists. While this cooperation can be achieved it will take long long years like it did America. There is a great need for African governments to allow their territories become redefined. There can't be progress without cooperation.
The Americas wasn't always like it is today. Africa is known to behind in everything, the only advantage of that is that you guys would have the choice of avoiding some other countries' past mistakes and learning from their solutions. North America didn't just achieve unity with time, they did because they figured out a system of government that addresses the issue of splitting. Africa countries can borrow a leaf instead of splitting into pieces and further make themselves insignificant at the global stage.

Here lies your answer! Are states or regions in Nigeria autonomous? If states and regions in Nigeria are autonomous or even semi autonomous, do you think Igbos or any other ethnic group will want to break away?

The problem with all these African countries and the agitations by separatists is borne out of frustration and despair. Do you know how painful it is for Igbos in Nigeria to be seeing how they're so unfairly treated? You gang up against them politically, economically and virtually every aspect of life!

Do you know how painful it is to be watching helplessly as your government continues to waste billions of dollars in the name of fighting Boko Haram, a self inflicted problem yet federal roads and other infrastructures in your own region are in total decay??

Buhari is building a railway line to Niger republic with but they claim there is money to build same in SE, a region inside Nigeria! They refuse to standardize AIIA Enugu but instead continue to play dirty politics on it, despite how long Igbos have desperately clamored for it!

If there is justice, fair play and equal rights, do you think Igbos will want to break away, considering how much they've invested in other regions of Nigeria?

These are the issues causing division!!!
My point is that structured government that ensures each region is autonomous is the only real solution. That's the only reason this splitting stuff isn't happening in the Western World as it used to. The name Nigeria is not the problem, it is the leadership and poor resource allocation. With autonomy, these can be addressed.

Cultural affliction should be considered as a factor in splitting.
Seeing how extremely diverse African is in terms of culture, this would only result in many countries as small as a state and some of these countries wouldn't even be economically viable enough to survive on it's own so they'd still depend almost entirely on the people they splitted away from. In that case, they wouldn't even be able to complain of marginalization anymore.

Survival in a country you call yours is first and most important, not economic benefits in belonging to one big country.
My post never said otherwise. Even so, survival cannot be separated from economy. You'd still depend on each other to survive.

Una ehn!

Why do you think splitting isn't necessary and Africa thing and who told you that the Europeans own the monopoly of splitting and forming new states when coexistence isn't achievable after decades of forced union?

About being Neighbours; Vatican is not only a neighborhor to Italy, it is inside of Italy.

What about Kosovo, North and South Korea, Singapore Malaysia, South and North Sudan and even now Scotland wanting to leave the Britain?

People who are self determined (as self determination is boldly inked in the constitutions all over the world) must be allowed to be
on their own, exhibit what they feel they couldn't express unless they're independent.

The easiest way of achieving peace is by prompting freedom!!!
I am surprised how you totally misunderstood the first statement and still went ahead to say things that support it. When someone says "splitting isn't necessarily an African thing" and proceeds to give examples of countries that splitted in Europe, Asia and the Americas, he is only saying that splitting is a general thing and not peculiar to any continent. He's not saying Europe has the monopoly.

The point is there is that splitting doesn't necessarily come cause of past colonial effects cause many countries that didn't have that still splitted.

This comment is only two inches away from complete rubbish. In other words you're saying that we should endure and suffer from generations past, to present generations and to future/unborn generations forever and ever (World Without End) because some colonial imperialists joined us together for colonial interests chiefly RESOURCE THEFT? You're saying because of family splitting, we should suffer and endure everlasting ANIMAL FARM deprivation, suppression, retrogression, oppression, and endemic poverty in the midst of unquantifiable surplus? So you only have bad examples of splitting to buttress your point? You have not heard of Scotland and Ireland? You have not heard of several flourishing economies that splitted away from former dominant oppressors who are now doing well and better compared to their former enslaved and oppressed status?
You're afraid of positive change so that we suffer the injustices, suffering, poverty and neglect our forefathers, parents and people suffered since 1914? Whether each family becomes a sovereign state in the future is nobody's headache or heartache as long as it will lead to thriving States and economies existing in EQUAL RIGHTS, JUSTICE, PEACE, LOVE, UNITY AND PROSPERITY.
I stopped reading after the first sentence. You don't know how to have a civil conversation. Enjoy your opinion.

Why Would you not think so? The artificial boundaries created disunity among African and that is the problem we are facing now. Yes you are right we are one before the advent of colonial but when whites came they created disunity among Africans.
Nigeria and many other African nations are not as diverse as some of the countries in the Americas. West Africans have people of the same race but different ethnicities in a country and they are using it as an excuse while some of the countries in the Caribbean have up to four main races and yet have managed. The problem with Africa is the mindset. Regardless of how much they break into pieces, the issue will continue. I am Canadian and nobody really asks my "state of origin". Being Canadian is enough. Everybody is from everywhere. Just pay your tax and you're welcome. Each region is autonomous. And any other language you speak asides French and English doesn't count. But in Africa, there's so much emotional attachment to one's region of origin to the extent that some kill for it. If Igbos leave Nigeria, the states will still fight one another. It's just sad.

Africa is an European experiment with no nation created out of historical ties that is why she is deemed to fail
No, it's failing cause Africans have not mastered structured systems of leadership. What historical ties do the people's in the US have? What historical ties do Canadians have? But these countries have put in place some structures that make each region responsible for their own growth. We need to borrow a leaf.

And just be a beautiful woman and even the most powerful of all men would trample on each other to worship what you have in between your legs. It goes both ways. Pretending you don't know that wouldn't stop it from being a fact. If this is true (which I doubt), she did not sleep with herself. And if she's single, the married president should be getting a better chunk of the blame for cheating. But you clearly left him blameless to focus on the woman as usual just so that you'll belong to the "manly" team. Black Africans practicing misogyny and speaking against racism is the most ridiculous thing ever. No wonder no one takes y'all seriously. Don't bother quoting cause I ain't responding.

Zim,
I read any bull that kills a matador will be killed alongside its entire family.. sad
Na true?
The bulls die regardless of how the game ends. That's part of the sports.

WoundedLamb:
The bull is first pierced with daggers and made to lose so much blood just to weaken it before the game starts. This is done by men on horses. The human participting in the game is then expected to keep piercing its body or widen the already pierced places so that the bull would lose more blood and surrender. When it dies, the man is given some parts.

I do not blame the bulls as they're acting out of their aggressive instinct. I blame the participants who willingly chose to put their life at a knife's edge in the name of sport.
You need to see what they do the animals before the actual game starts. Those bulls you see fighting are half dead. Horrible game!

Personally, I think all African countries should renegotiate their sovereignty. It is foolhardiness to be clingy to the greedy, unlawful, illegal and immoral partitioning of Africa in 1884 by white racists.

We need new countries in Africa. We should however not resort to this level of crass violence to achieve it.

Until we sit down and talk, across Africa, we will keep having this issues. I mean, look at the Ambazonia issue in Cameroon.

Africa, Think.
You have a point.

But then again, splitting isn't necessarily an African thing. Former USSR split, North and South Korea did. Québec has had multiple referendums to split away from Canada, etc.

Along what lines should a continent as diverse as Africa split? It will only be a matter of years before the new countries start splitting again. Besides, the effects of splitting affects generations unborn cause families might be separated if care is not taken and even with the splitting, y'all would still be neigbours and if there is no peace, it will affect y'all's economy badly. What Africa needs is a government structure that is similar to what we have in Canada. Let each province in a country be as autonomous as possible.
