Bonatheripper:Really? Lol... It's funny when Nigerians try to analyze American politics through the lens of the Nigerian political culture. Maybe he will also faint like some of y'all's politicians ![]() |
Well, I'm not a big fan of Trump but I really hope he recovers... maybe towards the election time. ![]() |
Dude, it's not really about how many times you post the same thing. If your content is worthy, people will read it. The more you put up misleading/sensational headlines, the less people trust your content. Nobody made it by sacrificing trust. |
beardlessdude:You seem to forget Nairaland isn't only available to those in Nigeria. ![]() |
Someone must have started but if only the reactors knew their reaction would only ensure the Google search result stays consistent. They keep using her name and the expression "ugliest miss world" together. Even the bloggers and news channels that try to milk the situation dry keep fueling it with their headlines. Now when you Google that question, you get something like "Nigerians react as Google search shows Agbani Darego as ....". OP, even your thread is a factor here. This is why Chinese bots are 'busy' feeding the internet with their cooked up version of the covid-19 story (second pic).

NobleAngell:He obviously can't swim. ![]() |
Some Nigerian could be overly dramatic. They take every opportunity to embarrass themselves online. |
The fear of men is the beginning of wisdom. |
See the look on his face. I feel pity for poor people but seeing kids work extremely hard for peanuts gets me teary. Children should only be happy. A happy childhood makes for a big hearted adult. Seun, this Chinese bots only come at night to fill up your db with trash. This is probably due to time difference. Imagine what it would be like if they decide to start coming during the day. Nairaland will become useless. Do something. To know more about them, click https://www.nairaland.com/6075415/strange-accounts-appearing-nairaland-every

Enudapan:Lol... some Nigerians are funny. Why are you telling the story of your life? ![]() |
Hahaha.... People be typing rubbish on this thread just to trend. Reminds me of one Nigerian actor. ![]() |
You have a point. Comparing basket worth of each currency gives a better picture than the exchange rate cause they are many factors that could affect the exchange rate (like the Ghanaian case). N500 has a higher basket worth than the equivalent value in the UK. That's given. But there is another perspective. So far, you viewed it from the expenditure angle. What of income? How readily available is N500 in Nigeria compared with £1 in the UK? I mean, how easy is it to make N500 in Nigeria compared to easy it is to make £1 in the UK? In 2020 the the national minimum wage for adults over the age of 25 in the United Kingdom is to £8.72 per hour. I'm not going to compare this with the Nigerian minimum wage cause I'll be making the same mistake you made. Instead, it would be more productive to convert this to a monthly salary and compare with minimum monthly expense per individual in the UK to see to what extent the income can accommodate the expenditures. Then do the same for a Nigerian earning the minimum monthly wage and see who is really better off. This doesn't put into considerations the basic amenities enjoyed by the UK residents. Thanks for the mind stimulating write-up. |
Most times, I nod my head in agreement while reading some of these carefully penned write-ups, only to get sad at the end when I remember they are just written for writing sake. Nothing really changes at the end. ![]() |
SmartProf:The whole hand existing first thing is funny, bro. Archaic ways always exist before modern ways but that does not mean one should stick with them. The legs existed before cars yet these people don't run from Anambra to Lagos. I get that not everyone is rich enough to have a washing machine and I also know power is not constant in some parts of Africa but none of these seems to to be an excuse enough for these guys I read about on here. They are obviously rich enough to dress well, drive good cars and live in well furnished apartments and yet they wouldn't buy something as basic as a washing machine. It's almost as if they see dignity in doing things the hard way. The whole thing is really confusing. |
I still don't get it. Is there a reason Africans prefer to wash clothes with their hands? |
Comedy skit? |
We were expecting that anyway. |
Homophobia |
Nigeria is going through a lot but then life ain't exactly a bed of roses anywhere, bro. So I suggest you try to enjoy the holiday. Your not celebrating won't make things better. Courage, bro. |
So far on this thread, two adults are discussing American politics while two kids are arguing over who has travelled more and whose daddy has more money. ![]() |
seunmohmoh:Even if the music doesn't make sense? |
Donniespets:Oh... ok. |
Golan007:Actually, there are more Yorubas in Equatorial Guinea than Igbos.

Fear men |
Tadeknkeepcalm:Lol... That was when I newly created my first account. I can't remember the exact year but I feel it was actually in 2011 cause I was in school then. Things were a bit different then; entertaing but less chaotic. |
Tadeknkeepcalm:In recent times, no. I've learned to ignore many things and manage my expectations. But years back, yeah. And it was hilarious cause I moved to unfollow someone (and asked him to unfollow me) cause of a comment. It was 10/9 years ago, I couldn't even challenge the comment cause it was so strongly worded and precise that challenging it would only lead to a heated argument. Funny thing is that I wrote him a short post telling him how he was a great guy but we just had to stop following each other for my inner peace seeing that that particular comment wasn't just "unlike" him but also challenged the crux of my principles. But we didn't eventually stop following each other; his response wasn't what I expected. Hehe Good old days when men were boys and hyperactive. Lol. |
SegFault:If the four of them were cursing then it's either they learned it there within the facility or one learned it from the previous owner and taught others or the four had the same owner. I doubt it was orchestrated. Parrots are sent to such facilities when the owners die or are travelling. The chances of four different owners teaching their parrots curse words and the four parrots being kept together in the facility by the management all for the fun of it is kinda low. Just my thought. |
ehinmowo:Well, success or failure, aren't these the possible end results of every hustle? Hope they succeed. |
Most times, what we consider "sensible" is what appeals to our own sensibility, our opinion. And you need to appreciate the fact that no two people will always share the same opinion. Regardless of how often a Nairalander's opinions tend to tally with yours, there will be times when you'd find each other on the opposite ends of the divide. And that's not necessarily being out of character for them. Their submission could be a part of their character with respect to a particular context, situation or environment that you didn't know of. When they are presented with such context, they make a submission that you wouldn't expect, a submission that doesn't sit well with your own opinion, a submission that you wouldn't make. But you wouldn't be bitterly disappointed if you'd gotten comfortable with that possibility. That's why I have that write-up as my signature, to avoid people being 'disappointed' in me. ![]() |
