So what's someone from UAR called? I'm curious. |
AMINDA:Lol... the way some of you think just leaves one speechless. So restricting Nigerians from accessing the app is not dragging the entire nation into it? You think blocking the app only affects the active users and not any other person who might otherwise be interested in creating an account tomorrow? Ok... you're right. Enjoy your day. |
SIRAO:Lol... okay. |
omonnakoda:What I find funny is that you keep saying we must not do things the oyibo way, yet you make references to oyibo countries to justify the ban. But that aside, I'm glad you've moved away from the non democratic nations where the app is banned to the democratic nations where it's regulated. But then again did Buhari regulate or ban the platform? If he regulated the use of the platform, we would be discussing the terms of that regulation. But we are having this discussion cause that's not what he did. Regulation wouldn't exempt the government or give them right to post anything. The regulation in France demands that online campaigners must declare thier source of funds, and just last year (a few months after the regulation), a social media campaign from the same French government was blocked by Twitter for violating the same anti-fake news law. That's regulation. It's not about kicking them out cause they didn't treat the president differently. So if you don't want to do things the democratic way (or oyibo way as you've named it), you might as well stop making reference to oyibos. And hopefully, you won't complain when the Chinese style or African style doesn't favour you. |
Rissamenti:This is your intelligent brain trying to make sense of Buhari's actions. And that's okey cause it's human nature. But it would have made more sense if Buhari's administration had called out Twitter on the account of thier inaction regarding Nnamdi Kanu's tweets prior to now. Banning the app cause their own tweets were deleted suggests it's more about their mangled ego than the security of the country. And by making reference to Nnamdi Kanu, we are acknowledging the fact that both parties made disdainful comments on the app. Like I stated, Twitter could be partial and I'm not in any position to defend them. But saying Buhari banned Twitter to protect Nigeria would be playing on the intelligence of Nigerians. |
moneyissweet:Lol... |
omonnakoda:I'm convinced you didn't read my post. Cause I don't see how you could possibly come up with this response if you had read what I wrote. Twitter never promised you democracy, they don't even owe anyone democracy. |
omonnakoda:Seriously, China? Dude, we are not in China. You cannot treat China's social media ban in isolation. If you're advocating the Chinese style of government, they you'd be prepared to embrace the totality of what comes with the absence of democracy. The Chinese government can ban any website without issues cause they never claimed to be democratic. As of 2019, the governments of China, Iran, North Korea, and Turkmenistan have blocked access to Twitter in those countries and nobody is saying anything cause they are not democratic nations. The deletion of Buhari's tweets is simply no justification for doing that in Nigeria except the government is telling us the style of government has changed. In fact, I'm surprised you even mentioned democracy in your post cause nothing you said is remotely democratic, no disrespect intended. The president's tweets were deleted and the next line of action is to stop all his citizens from freely accessing the app even without their consent? And you still said "that is democracy"? Even in countries where social media is regulated, it's mostly to avoid crimes and hate speeches. How do you explain that your president banned the app in Nigeria simply cause his personal tweets were deleted? What exactly is the oyibo way here? And what would then be the African way? Moderating other individuals while allowing certain class of people to post just anything? You guys complain about Nigeria, yet you're not willing to let go those things that make Nigeria a terrible place. Yes, you mustn't do everything like oyibo but sadly, it's thier platform and they have rules you must follow. And as far as that app is concerned, the creators are the gods and thier rules stand. You can leave thier platform if you feel unfairly treated or create yours if thier concepts don't appeal to you. Just don't expect special treatments. And whatever you do, you don't drag the entire nation into it. |
moneyissweet:Hope you're typing from the 'street'. |
For me, the issue is not whether Twitter was right or wrong for deleting the president's tweets. The issue is that in a bid to get back at Twitter, the president dragged the entire nation into it. Twitter deleted his tweets and he's moving to block the entire nation of about 200 million people from accessing the app without VPN as if the country is his personal property and the opinion of the people doesn't matter. Even the people praising him for this are also caught up in the middle of what shouldn't even concern them cause he'll only end up stressing everyone, the organization and his citizens alike. |
Simply put, they hate being sexualised. |
zombieHUNTER:Ok... and you think Russia is a match for all NATO countries and the US combined? I don't think that would be a great assumption. This is a coalition and the only reasonable thing for Russia now is to assemble thier own allies cause they simply do not have the economy to fight a coalition led by the greatest economies in the world. And history has shown wars are primarily about the resources (economy). But then again, countries don't easily join thier allies in wars in this modern century due the complex interdependent network of nations these days. So allies that would agree to fight alongside Russia against the US and the entire NATO countries must weigh thier options carefully in terms of possible gains and losses both during and after the war. |
wittywriter:Lol... whatever the western world does is termed "sane". |
AntiBMC:His opion doesn't matter yet they went to his doorstep to seek it. He was actually focusing on his Catholic duties... |
I believe it's always crowded. That's probably the busiest international airport in West Africa. |
Oyiboman69:This is why husbands pay anomaly when there's a divorce. |
Interesting. Personally, I think individual preferences should be respected. No need talking people into switching. Apple high end phones are not necessarily more expensive than those of Samsung though Samsung is probably more scaled out to accommodate different pocket sizes. Therefore, many people use Samsung simply cause they prefer it (I'm not talking about those using Android on cheaper phones). That said, why not start by telling us the specific iPhone features you're using now that blew your mind? It's not just sufficient to say it's better. We know new things always seem better at first. Thanks. Note: I'm not championing any as I use both. |
Zenithh:Lol... sorry, once it's not black eyed peas, strawberries or tomatoes, I'm lost. I'm only able to slightly recognize these ones cause I and my neighbour plant them in our "pet garden" (actually, it's just a storied set of plastic planters). |
Looks like black eyed pea |
NinjaMetahuman:Most guys here believe that shying away from blaming men in all cases and always attacking the opposite gender is being manly. They don't know how boyish that makes them sound. |
SLAP44:Why not first call out and reprimand your fellow men who are now in the business of raping everything female before attacking the mother? |
BKayy:Lol... mean words. We don't have to always attack ladies when they make remarks about men. Men do it everytime a lady's picture is shared on here. It's only bad when the person in the picture is sexualised (which is mostly the case when a lady's picture is shared). The person you quoted even acknowledged the footballer is handsome. He mustn't be her type. |
Elock1:You haven't seen him play, you're already angry. |
etrange:I know. I agree. I wanted a dog this time but I just don't have the time to always walk and pick after it. |
How do you deal with the feather dust? I've had different parrot species, and out of all of them, cockatiels, cockatoos and African gray were way too dusty. Other species didn't produce any feather dust. I tried to address this dust issue with constant bathing but I'm wondering if there are better ways. I'm about to get a new set I'd so much want to get cockatiels due to their personality but the thought of having to deal with feather dust again scares me. I like sun conures but they are too loud and budgies are a bit too skittish for me. |
With eggs? Lmao... |
Please, I don't know much about the tribal issues in Nigeria, so forgive me if my question sounds boundlessly naive. Here it goes; do Igbos stand with the so-called unknown gun men? |
OMG, did y'all see that kid? I hope she's safe |
Yustyle:Haha... ![]() |
Looks adorable. |
Lol... these Bollywood actors look like blacks. Meanwhile, the Nigerian movie industry will be losing a lot if they drop such epic movies. The industry can't be more western than the westerners, so they should keep refining but never discard thier unique touch. |
