PoliticsRe: Niger Republic: A Clear Case Of Election Meddling by Xander85: 11:10am On Feb 05, 2019
I've always said that APC and Buhari are banking on doing the magic in their 'strongholds' of Kano, Katsina, Kaduna and even Lagos! The one of Lagos is why he needs Tinubu onside! It's easier to rig in these states because they have minions that can help do the needful while being protected by the compromised army and police!

No, that is an excuse. A lame one at that. Look up records of the Truth & Reconciliation Commision. The Boers did a lot of horrific & sadistic things, including infecting people with HIV. Yes, that's how HIV began in South Africa. It was done intentionally to punish people.

Oh & Mandela didn't run to Nigeria for safety or for any other thumb sucked excuse given by your leader. Our liberation movement fought back with bombs of their own, bought with money they got from different countries, which is probably why Mandela made a pitstop in your country. There's also another old liar, that said he hid Mandela in his house blah blah blah & when Mandela went to prison, they became penpals. That is yet another formed-up story by your so-called leaders. Because 1st of all, Mandela's correspondence while in prison was closely monitored & he was allowed only two letters a year. Do you think he'd have wasted that privilege to write to some person in west Africa when he had a wife & children at home? I doubt the prison officials would have even delivered such letters. It never happened. The thing about Nigerian "leaders" is that they lie so much & you guys lap it up without doing any research on your own.
I think you've misunderstood my line of argument!

I'm in in no way making light of what Mandela went through, or saying that the Boers weren't an evil lot! I'm also in no way saying that but for Nigeria, Mandela wouldn't have been the outstanding person he became!

Rather, i was trying to tell the m'oron i quoted that had Mandela had the kind of adversaries Mazi Kanu and Igbos have in Nigeria, he would in all probability been finished off in prison! I ain't making idle talk...our history is replete with examples of the murderous and malevolent nature of the problem we face in Nigeria! There's the likes of MKO Abiola; his wife Kudirat; Ken Saro Wiwa; Adaka Boro, etc, to help buttress my point! All these people mentioned were finished off by 'the Nigerian state' for daring to ask for justice for themselves and their people! They were not given 27 years in prison or allowed to write letters to friends and loved ones, and they didn't leave prison with their sanity and health still intact like Mandela did!

It's this same Boers that finally caved in and ended the apartheid! Over here, if it came to a choice between giving up their privileges and toeing the path of justice, or maintaining the status-quo, our evil lot would sooner die than acquiesce to the former!

As evil as the Boers were, i don't think there's stories of them going into villages and wiping out all the male population; engaging in murderous orgies of violence in the streets that saw tens of thousands of innocent individuals hacked to death within a space of a few weeks....with babies snatched out of their mothers wombs and smashed on the rocks! The situation becomes more dire when you realise this wasn't done by some foreign invaders...a different race, as is the case with South Africa, but rather the evil was committed by persons of the same race....supposed fellow 'countrymen'!

Since 1966, Ndigbo in 'one Nigeria' (and other ethnicities) are equally going through a form of political and social 'apartheid' at the hands of the northern Hausa-Fulani oligarchy! Though i concede that it in no way is comparable to what the indigenous Africans were put through in South Africa!

Did you know that Nelson Mandela ran to Nigeria for safety during his time?

This is absolutely true.... but how long did he remain?.... barely 6 months ...and was not leading nor be broadcasting to his people from his safe house in Nigeria. He returned to face death or imprisonment. Why doesn't he follow in Mandela's footstep? Did Martin Luther King jr not be upfront in the fight for Civil Rights in the US?...was he not with his people?...no fear of death nor imprisonment?...was imprisoned and later assasinated?... didn't Muhammed Ali not do the same?... stand up for what he believe in with no fear of death nor imprisonment?...he was imprisoned.
I'm not sure if this guy is a coward or a con artist ...or both. But.... being sheltered Israel...and flowing to London.... then reflecting on the pattern of events in the Mid East... I'm more leaning on believing this is a puppet of the West. Egypt...Iraq.... Libya...Syria.....Afghanistan...the formula is the same for Regime Change and control of the country's economy..... find a disgruntled group of people (IPOB (rebels))and a leader(Kanu)......give them support start and carry out a civil war...install their leader as Head of State...and control the country through him. This guy is a fraud.
Rubbish!

This coming from one who thinks 'one Nigeria' is actually a viable concept!? 'One Nigeria'....a creation of a slave trader of the British Empire, together with his puss'y on the side is what this moro'n i'm quoting believes in, yet he's good to talk!?

In this shithole you call a country, i've come to accept that what could pass for the incredulous and utterly insane in saner climes, could easily pass for 'normal' in Nigeria! We may never know what really happened in London last year when your god -at the time a virtual sack of bones with one foot already in the grave- was being treated for a debilitating ailment (the diagnosis of which has been hidden from the Nigerian taxpayer that foot the bill to this day), but given the penchant of the core muslim northern oligarchy to acquire and cling on to power by any means necessary, i wouldn't put it past them to have made some clandestine moves to retain power in their region in the event of your gods demise! It's possible that somewhere in Mazi Kanus' claim lays an element of truth! I'm not losing sleep over finding it!

I support Mazi Kanu and the Biafran agenda because i know a Nigeria in which i'm made to share the same nationality with hateful, primitive, murderous and bigoted schmucks like you is just not a viable option for Ndigbo if we are to progress rapidly and compete with the likes of Singapore, Dubai and China! However, i'm also being pragmatic about the whole issue and placing first-things-first, believe that removing your murderous god Buhari is the immediate challenge that faces us as a people.....this is where Mazi Kanu and i differ slightly! I would support Ndigbo coming out en-masse to vote for Atiku...and then we'll take things from there!

I don't see the core north agreeing to the kind of restructuring that would make me and other Biafrans agitating for separation to be satisfied, but like i said; first-things-first....we'll cross that bridge when we reach it!

I'm mighty proud of Mazi Kanu for all he's doing to free our people from the bondage that is 'one Nigeria', but being Igbo and a reasonable person, i also realise that no man is infallible and that i'm bound to have divergent opinions from his own from time to time! All Mazi Kanu can do is give his take on any given issue, and it's left for every individual Igbo/Biafran to either side with him or agree to disagree and do what they think is expedient for the wider Igbo/Biafran cause!

PoliticsRe: Few Pics From Imo State by Xander85: 11:45pm On Feb 02, 2019
Ofuzo:
This is why you have state and national assemblies. Their job is to pass legislation that will improve the lots of their citizens. So, if you go back and reread my comments, you'd noticed where I said that the cities and small towns should be empowered to be self sufficient in most things. I also said that the present configuration of governments we have in nigeria should be reconfigured (restructuring). Without restructuring, it's practically impossible for nigerian cities to amount to anything. Currently, they are all shiitholes. The governor of imo state cannot sit in owerri and manage other cities in the state. This is exactly what I'm saying. It will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever work.

Scroll back several pages of this forum to see what I've been saying. In developed countries, when localities reach certain population milestone, they are given city status. Mostly, city status empowers them to do certain things, like raise their own revenues, which is then used to pay their own police officers, pay for refuse disposal and other environmental issues, pay for teachers salaries, build their own roads and enforce cities codes and ordinances (regulations). They are also responsible for building codes, where certain areas of their cities are designated for certain types of development, unlike in nigeria where shacks are springing up all around residential areas.

In developed countries, some city mayors are as powerful as state governors. In the US, city mayors of san francisco, los angeles, new york, chicago, dallas, houston etc are larger than life characters. Some of their city budgets are in the billions of dollars. Washington DC with a population of less than 700,000 has a budget of more than 4 billion dollars.
If things were being done properly in this country, then cities would have been allowed to retain at least 50% of the revenue they generate to help run the city! As with Owerri, the same case can be made for other cities in the country like Lagos, Onitsha and Port Harcourt!

Rochas could have really made himself to mbakwe level, if not for his familicracy.

Commission of happiness- what possible purpose could such move and unnecessary appointment have made? To earn 1million a month .

Among the 3 million Imo son's and daughter he couldn't find someone else to anoint, to carry on with his projects and vision, other than his son in law?

Having said that, in all honest, Rochas actually performed, poor roads- yes, but he had a vision.

Expanded Owerri
Built 3 beautiful stadiums in record times. ( mind you , building a stadium in past administrations could have been a full 8 years achievement of a government)

Once rochas put his mind on any project, he pursues it with so much vigour, it is completed in months.

Wish he had a proper economic plan- unfortunately he does, he opened up Owerri, which help developer access land and built hotels, but there was no economic plan , for example to turn those hotel building into resorts building, and make Owerri a holiday destination and no just a weekend.

I hope the next person who takes over retain rochas building developer,
Sack the road contractors
And recruit proper economics planners
I'm with you on the bolded! The fact we want to patronise local contractors shouldn't mean we should settle for sub-standard quality!

Using local contractors that do shabby jobs that get defective after one rainy season is a false economy b'cos the gov't will still have to come back to the same road and spend more money to reconstruct it! It's better to spend good money on a qualified contractor and do the job once and for all! Of course this would mean that not as many roads will be done like before, but the few critical ones done would be done tastefully and last for much longer!

The debt profile is another issue. Imo State has lowest external debt while the domestic debt is relatively high. As at 3 years ago nobody could have believed Imo as a State would surpass other Southeast States. Okorocha is finishing very well.
Rochas is finishing better...maybe not as well as one would have liked! If those IGR 3rd quarter figures for 2018 are correct then it shows the Imo state gov't has improved its efforts to provide a conducive business climate in the state, enumerate the correct number of businesses, and tax them accordingly! Also, it shows that more of the IGR collected is being returned to gov't coffers instead of private pockets!

The Anambra, Ebonyi and Abia state gov'ts should compare notes with their Imo counterparts to see what they need to focus and improve on!

No one is yet to answer this simple question.
It was all about the guarantee and preservation of their strategic economic and hegemonic interests in the region after they left in 1960!

After all the headache and palaver the likes of Zik, Awo and Enahoro gave them which eventually led to independence on 1st oct' 1960, if it were you, would you have handed over the reins of leadership to these wily, smart and well-read southerners, or would you have been more comfortable with the more placid and compliant northern elite?

It was very enlightening to say the least! Mr Nnadi gave a first-class lecture on why Nigeria is the way it is: why the northern and southern protectorates were joined together in 1914; why it's a fallacy to say oil exploitation began in 1958 in Oloibiri (this is what you and i where erroneously taught in school as kids); why the core-northern muslim oligarchs have such a strong love affair and affinity with the British; and why the Nigerian constitution is a fraud!

Ibo traders already have all the assistance they need. The market stalls and shops that litter the north were not but by them but by the state and local governments and leased to them for rent. The FG will build cattle ranches all over the north and rent them out to herdsmen too
Nice try!

This is a targeted intervention at Fulani herdsmen and their herding business, and is quite different from the example you cited in that the stalls and shops built in the north are for everyone to rent (not built specifically built for 'Ibos'), and are leased out at the ongoing market rate for shops in the area....no subsidised rates!

Besides, the example you gave was relating to state and local govt's, and i'm sure you can find similar instances in the south-east as well!

The issue we're discussing here has to do with the federal gov't spending our national commonwealth to aid one ethnic group to further a business that's unique to them! We'd be talking of fairness if the same federal gov't rendered a similar level of support to a business unique to 'Ibos' (say, spare-parts business for instance smiley ), barring which we'd equally be happy if said funds were put into upgrading Onitsha main market to world class status!
