helinues:How do you act as the chief security officer when you have no legal power to do so? Do you mean buying vans for police or bribing police commissioners as some do but even private companies do it too and it doesn't give them any real power over the police when the stakes are high. |
DubaiLandLord2:This is funny. How much does the British government spend on club football? It is actually the other way around, the clubs are the ones making money for the government. |
Biabank: Staysave:I hope you are not calling on zoo terrorist Fulani police to arrest him? |
I pity the victims of the intended scam. |
Fake news. |
This is fake news and a blacklist attempt. You even used fake headlines when your writing has nothing to do with soldiers. It would be an embarrassment if this was actually written by a real Nigerian forensic Investigators. The op probably got loans from several apps which he refuses to pay but was shocked when his debt was deducted from the source when his account got credited. Those numbers are likely the ones used by his creditors to request their money. As to the "hacking" case he listed, you don't even need to be a forensic investigator to know that all loan apps request various permissions which the user willingly gives while installing them. |
alsudan:Some persons? Call them by their name, Ipob! |
Aconomist:It doesn't exist. If you still disagree, cite specific portions of those laws banning monopoly. China even fined Alibaba $3 billion for monopoly. No, they didn't. Go back and read the exact reason they were fined. That says a lot even when a procommunist country have several monopolies. Is Alibab still a monopoly? Of course. And in India, cement companies are raided like criminals if they are suspected of anti-competitive behavior. It seems you are starting to understand the real issue. Anti-competitive behaviour and monopolies are not the same thing. India never ever raid any company for being a monopoly. In fact, there are several big monopolies in India. In case you genuinely don't know why some companies run into problem. It is not because they are a monopoly, it is when they use products in one industry to try to bully other companies in different industry. Consider a tire manufacture who divest into vehicle assembly. If it starts limiting tire supplies to other vehicle manufacture. That is illegal not whether they are the biggest or only one. Nigeria is the only country where criminals like Dangote have free reign to exploit an entire nation. This is funny. Every single developed countries have monopolies. Some of them are aggressively supported with government money e.g US propping up Tesla and China backing Huawei monopoly in order to dominate their space. I see you are very emotional, that is probably why you think monopoly is a crime which it isn't. When government make laws or policies and some companies excel more than others, it is not criminal, it is just business. |
I could see some people lying on the ground and nothing more. We have no idea what happened to them. |
BluDesk:The anti-monopoly rule does not exist for any country and it is even meaningless in this context. Always make research before contributing to complex topics. |
This is evil! |
Aconomist:This is like saying the sky is blue. The price of any product depends on supply and demand. You have to look beyond the basics to understand the issue. Despite the topic, my submission was about economic realities and not specifically Dangote. So, this issue can only be solved from an economic and legal perspective, any other approach will have no effect. The government doesn't allow imports and Dangote chased other companies out of the industry by hoarding limestone resources in the Southern part of the country.Nigeria used to import more than half its cement until OBJ decided it was a bad idea. You don't hoard limestone just like investors don't hoard oil wells. You either own one or you don't. It is not something you share. BTW, do you support blanket allowance for the importation of any product into the country? BUA is not the problem. He knows what Dangote is doing is wrong, but he has no incentive to lower his prices because he is struggling to meet market demand due to the lack of supply in the industry.BUA is playing a psychology game as all capitalists do. The only thing wrong from the perspective of BUA is that Dangote cornered the largest part of the market. If the roles were switched, Dangote will be playing the same game. It is never about right and wrong for a capitalist. It is always about profit and outmaneuvering the competition. Which is also the beauty of capitalism. If Dangote lowers his price tomorrow, BUA will follow suit despite the "scarcity" excuse. When a businessman is asking for more competition, you know the situation is bad. Read here for more information.
I actually read this article then. Rabiu isn't calling for more competitions in the real sense. He is calling for "liberalization" which is different because that would weaken his competitor but it isn't because he is some angel. Rabiu won't call for or work towards liberalization of any industry he dominates. I still maintain that there is no specific law preventing new cement companies from starting up. One thing Rabiu could do is rally his own politician investors and introduce a new bill into the national assembly to correct any specific problem with the current policy. That would give Nigerians a real view of the industry. Just blaming "policy" is not enough. |
Aconomist:The price of some drugs in the US is higher than in Canada despite many being manufactured inside the US. If you have ever owned a business, you would understand that your comparison does not follow as many things factor into the price. There are three ways to drive down the price, competitors, importing, or new laws. Zambia manufactured cement will carry Zambia's price. Even some prices of goods vary within Nigeria. If cement production cost is the lowest in the country, I expect BUA to have run Dangote out of business by slashing the price by half and running Dangote out of business? As far as I know, there is no law banning new companies from investing in cement production. While I am not a fan of price-fixing as it creates more problems in the long run. You could start a campaign for the price of cement to be fixed and any other products you consider too expensive. Blackmail doesn't work against businesses as only profit matters. |
Where in Ekiti state? |
Wrong |
Pete is an old man living in the wrong century. |
Soolmus:Seriki fulani is not back. It turns out the Seriki is just a visible front and more violent criminals are still roaming freely in the forest. No one will notice Igboho if the state and security forces are behind him. So, the idea that the state is against him is not news. He is naturally against the state. If the state was fighting bandits in the first place. Igboho would not come into the picture. This isn't a full criticism of Igboho as he doesn't owe anybody anything. But people just need to know the fight has not even begun and Igboho cannot offer the security they think he could. A more organized approach is needed. |
Soolmus:If anyone ordered his arrest, he would be in jail already with a signed warrant. While he worked for Seyi as a political thug in the past, he doesn't take orders from him anymore neither is he fearful of arrest(according to the man himself). There is this general sense that Igboho has fixed security issues in Igangan both home and abroad owing to his widely publicized exploits. But it is obvious his tactics are not working. |
lexy2014:I am not feeling "better". I just hate opportunists who take advantage of people's plight, offering false hope, then dashing it. |
lexy2014:I don't need rescue by anyone but that doesn't mean I don't care about those in the line of fire. |
Soolmus:No. But security is a continuous process anywhere in the world. You don't declare victory and abandon your goals when the fight has not even begun. I blame those foreign donors, he was focused until they start showering him with money he doesn't need. |
Penguin2:My question is for reasonable people and not angry and delusional Kanu followers. We know how you really feel about this news. |
BOOOMNAIJA:He has been settled with foreign dollars. He abandoned his mission immediately donations starts coming in. |
Wait, I thought Igboho has chased out all herdsmen in Igangan? What is all the media noise about when he actually didn't do anything? |
Unemployment is a contributing factor but it is not the major cause. Take any crime, armed robbery, kidnapping, assassination, terrorism, drug, fraud, and human trafficking and you can link it to unemployment. But when you look closer, you find out things are not as they seem. We would expect that the most impoverished nation would have the highest rate of all crimes but that that doesn't happen. Certain crimes are even nonexistent in some very poor countries. This shows that there are other factors at play. In the case of Nigerian fraudsters, the widespread support the public gives to Yahoo boys is the driver behind its surge. We have always had Yahoo boys but it is not something you are proud of until recently. Even some employed people also engage in internet fraud to keep up with the Joneses. Secondary school kids also blame unemployment for engaging in Yahoo even though they have no skill that could earn them up to 50K per month. |
SarkinYarki:We can agree that our senators earn too much without embellishing the figure. No rep nor senator earns close to 2 million dollars annually even if you add all their allowances together. Maybe your rep friends do not understand their take-home pay. A senator's basic salary is about 800K per month with allowance running into about 13 million Naira. Reps earn less than this. |
SarkinYarki:If you want to lie, lie with sense. No rep, not even a senator is paid 2 million dollars annually. If we are to compare salary to salary, a Nigerian senator earns about 12 million Naira per year. |
This fella forgot that the Burdillion bullion vans man has not say pim since the Fulanis intensified the onslaught to conquer and dominate the SW. [/qoute] Your thoughts are so irrational. Normally, conquerors take possession of their spoils but your heroic conquerors are actually in hiding and living with animals in the forest. However, Sunday Igboho has been seen & heard. He is truly the hero.He was a hero for a brief time until he went extreme and exposed his shallowness. He is now only a hero to renegades, Kanu, and his asslickers. |
The fake Emir has a point. |
We know the government is incompetent but these greedy and corrupt lecturers are always looking forward to disrupting the school calenders not minding its effect on students. Despite claiming there is no money for research, a large part of the TETfund budget is unspent every year because the lecturers couldn't come up with realistic research proposals. Some who got the fund use it to marry new wives, build houses and buy cars. |
I agree that Tinubu may lose out in the end but Afenifere should desist from making him their focus. It is starting to look childish and confer him with the influence he does not have. There are many real issues you can call him out for but it makes no sense placing an entire region's challenges on one man. When the SW governors wanted to establish Amotekun, they didn't seek Tinubu's approval, and neither did he provide support. If restructuring is a popular issue, the governors would have no choice but to champion it even though the real power lies with the national assembly. SW governors are afraid of restructuring the same reason the other 30 state governors avoid talking about it. Awolowo didn't just stay indoors lamenting about regional issues and throwing media jabs when he was out of power He actually presented candidates that support his views. Let Afenifere learn from that. |
Makinde should sit up and pressure the CP to release the detained OPC members. They have no case to answer. I expect those guys to have a high-powered legal defense by now or where are all the donations? Wakili first lied that OPC killed his fictional wife, when asked for evidence, he then changed the story that his houses were burnt. |
