gsalvatore: We shall see..

You can buy all the aircraft man can make but if the moles in the Army/Govt/sympathizers are not taken out then the whole thing is a fiasco.

I pray am wrong ...am hardly wrong anyway.
A single Mi35m can take out a troop of 1000 people within 2km radius. This thing is a beast and the first of its kind in Africa, the U.S Marines recently acquired a couple of these for use in training. The weaponry on this thing is almost similar to a fighter jet. Forget about weaponry, the mere sight and sound of this machine coming towards you at top speed is enough to make you renounce your family and loved ones grin, its frightening. No matter the amount of brainwashin these Boko Ram boys have gone through, you simply cannot stand this machine.

I think it would be difficult to sabotage the operations of these helicopters because its operations and flight path is unpredictable unlike a normal fighter jet, even if you know its coming, the speed is crazy with spuerb manoeuvre capabilities and missile warning, shooting at this thing is just waste of time from Boko boys. The Nigerian air force got more than a dozen of these beauty, and in the real sense, just four of these would take out the whole army of Boko Haram.

And behold ‘Ye shall pray for mercy and none will be given. For on that day, the god of the terrorists was but nowhere to be seen, for they cut themselves, and tore their clothes, and fired their rust RPGs, their AA guns and shouted the name of their god. But no one answered. And the god of the sky hovered above them, its rotors whined with vengeance, its canons spoke no word but fire issued forth from his sides and burned the people of Boko for their prayer was Haram to the sound of his wrath. And he spoke to them from the belly of the sky, his wings decked in the livery of NAF.
As they ran and cried for mercy, he pursued them to their holes, in their camps, he smote them, he cut them down one after the other until there was none left to pray to the god of IEDs.
These prophecies were written in the scroll of NAF

NIGERIAN AIR FORCE BEGIN TAKING DELIVERY OF STATE-OF-THE-ART Mi35M HELICOPTERS (ABSOLUTE WORLD EXCLUSIVE PHOTO)

https://oi58.tinypic.com/10f50cl.jpg

In this one-of-a-kind photo which was shot on Friday 29th August, 2014 and posted originally and exclusively on BEEGEAGLE’S BLOG, a freshly delivered Mi-35M attack helicopter can be seen being unloaded from a giant Antonov cargo plane at a location in northern Nigeria (details withheld by me for security reasons). This is the only photo of this mean machine in cyberspace as I write this…a true global exclusive.

The roundel of the NAF is visible on this side towards the tail end and of course, it is the only MiL attack helicopter of the NAF thus far pictured in desert camouflage colour scheme. Its special adaptations are visible from here.

Congratulations to the NAF….Africa’s first PROVEN (not merely claiming) user of the Mi-35M.

Why do you have to exaggerate the cost to drive home your points? Pebble wrist watches costs $150 and as a matter of fact, its worth the price, based on personal experience. It is irrelevant if it costs 1million Naira to buy a gadget, its the buyers choice to pay that much for a piece of innovation.

UrbanMystique: is god perfect? if yes, how can a perfect creature creates imperfect things? if no, what the heck is this post all about?
How do you explain the difference in the lifespan of the first generation of men e.g. Methuselah ...and the sudden depreciation in lifespan after God limited man's life to 70 years? This successfully showing that the first man Adam was as close to perfection as possible.

Or how do you explain the existence of the Nephilim giant discoveries, proving what was written in the bible on the accounts of the lives of Adam and "the sons of God(Demi god/fallen angel) falling in love with the daughters of men, despite science saying its impossible for someone taller than 8 feet to exist?

Or how would science justify the death of the Egyptian army in the Red Sea, which was proven to be true based on archeological findings.

is science a deity? science is just the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.. anyone can venture in to science.. sheesh pick a book.

that's the beauty of science, if you donot accept big bang, you can come up with better theory after much observation and experimentation, no one is gonna roast you in hell for that.

yeah right, define religion?

man aging and dying is just a natural process to keep the world from exploding due to high population. do you need god to tell you that?

right. those that get sick dont believe in god right? how come casting doesn't work on ebola or amputees?

by the way, if you need your brain to cook up herbs (which is science by the way) and not cast the sickness away, why or what the heck do you need god for?

jesus healed after he accepted the zmapp, why can he just cast ebola away in jesus name? atleast jesus never healed anyone with herbs.

I bet the jokers in power don't know the implication of having an epidemic. Instead being resolute in the fight against Ebola, we are constantly being lies to by the health minister and the FG.

Ebola Cure May Have Already Been Discovered - So Why Are People Still Dying?

The cure for Ebola may have already have been developed by drugs companies, but ethical dilemmas and financial concerns are holding back hopes of a faster cure, scientists have warned.

The worst ever epidemic of the virus, which has swept West Africa, has killed more than 670 people, sparking fears Ebola could move to the UK.

Two people have now been assessed for the virus in Britain, while two American health workers - a doctor and a missionary - have been hospitalised in Liberia after contracting the disease, prompting missionary groups to evacuate non-essential personnel.

But panic grows. Jeremy Farrar, professor of Tropical medicine at the University of Oxford and director of the Wellcome Trust, claimed the mounting death toll was "unacceptable".

"It would be unethical not to acknowledge that potential new treatments could both save lives and reduce transmission in this and future outbreaks," he told the Washington Post.

"We have more than 450 deaths [now it is over 600] so far, and not a single individual has been offered anything beyond tepid sponging and 'we'll bury you nicely'," Farrar told a separate Reuters interviewer. "It's just unacceptable."

Professor Farrar is not alone in questioning whether the West is doing enough to cure a virus that has, so far, only killed people in Africa.

"Farrar is one million per cent right," said Dr Peter Walsh, a biological anthropologist at the University of Cambridge, who has studied the spread of Ebola. "There's absolutely no ethical question involved here. The question is financial and political. To license the drugs that are currently being developed will take years and years. The problem is there is no commercial market in Africa. If this was Western Europe, or North America, we would have a vaccine," he told HuffPost UK.

"There's no monetary incentive for big pharma to put a lot of resources into it. Rest assured, it would have been done if this was happening in England or the US. We would be banging down doors to get to it and get it out to people."

Walsh pointed to the story of a German researcher who accidentally pricked herself with a needle containing Ebola, who was given a vaccine developed in the National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg.

"She had it in her within 48 hours. We don't know, actually, if she ever did contract the disease in the first place but she never developed symptoms. But it shows how they were willing to try the vaccine, and could get it to her quickly," he said.

David Heymann, a professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, who has studied Ebola since 1976, vehemently disagrees. "There are survivors of Ebola," he told Bloomberg. "Is it ethical to provide a drug when you could be causing a risk to those patients who would survive?

"It would be unethical to roll it out now, in my opinion," said Heymann, a former assistant director general at the WHO.

Dr Heinz Feldmann, an Ebola expert at the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases' Laboratories in Montana, told the Canadian Press that he was being bombarded with emails asking why scientists were not pushing out any drug they could. But one colleague had persuaded him it would be a bad idea. "He said 'Anything injectable would be a disaster.'" Feldmann claimed. "He thinks the rumour that we're just spreading the disease is going to be out there before we even start. I think as bad as it sounds — and I really don't feel good about saying this — I have the feeling they have to find a way to end this one without [experimental] therapy."

Ebola is one of the world's deadliest diseases, with up to 90% of cases resulting in death. It is passed to humans through direct contact with the blood, organs or other bodily fluids of victims, meaning doctors and nurses are most at risk. Patients are often overcome by a sudden onset of fever as well as weakness, muscle pain and headaches. Vomiting, diarrhoea, rashes, kidney and liver problems follow. No vaccine or cure is currently available, but several are in development.

One of the US companies named in an informative Forbes piece on Ebola cures is BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, a small North Carolina operation, which is developing a drug called BCX4430 that has proven effective in preventing the death of monkeys were infected with a virus closely related to Ebola.

Why Are There No Drugs for Ebola Virus?
The tests took place with some funding from National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at a US Army Medical Research Institute, the report into the drug published in Nature, found. All six monkeys infected with the closely-related Marburg virus, which were given the drug one to 24 hours later, were alive 30 days later. All six monkeys who were not given the drug were dead.

"Much of the only real funding now, which is mainly coming from the US department of Defence, is for bio- terror research - it had been thought that it might be used as a biochemical weapon against Americans," Walsh said.

Dr William Sheridan, BioCryst's medical director, told NPR that testing such a drug "just wouldn't make the cut at a major [pharma] company," because the disease has not yet killed a huge number of people, objectively. But he said the company wanted to develop a drug because of the mounting public health concern, and because "there is a market, and the market is the US government."

Rob Bennett, BioCryst’s vice president of investor relations and operations, told Forbes he had had a lot of interest in the drug but it had never been tested on humans. “We don’t see a path to dose patients without at least some fundamental safety data. There would be some ethical issues around that, so it’s a catch-22,” he said.

Paul Hunter, professor of Health Protection at the University of East Anglia, disagrees that there is any ethical dilemma. "As a practicing clinician, if I was given the option to help people with a drug that isn't proven, but has been shown to have at least some effect, it's unethical not to give it to them," he told HuffPost UK.

"In the midst of such a huge epidemic, one could even argue that doing a blind controlled trial would be unethical, because if you give a placebo to some people, who will most likely die, then you are depriving them of a drug that could cure them, something that could save their life.

"It can take months, years for a drug to get approval. By the time it is licensed, maybe everybody will already be dead."

The Canadian Tekmira Pharmaceuticals is also developing a drug to treat Ebola, but the trials were placed on hold earlier this month by the Food and Drug Administration, which requested additional information to ensure the drug is safe at higher doses, according to a Bloomberg report. Additional animal trials are now being conducted until at least 2015.

Mapp Biopharmaceutical Inc, a San Diego company, is another company developing an antibody cocktail similar to the one tested by Canada's National Microbiology Laboratory, according to Bloomberg.

If most scientists agree that trialling even the most experimental drugs would not be unethical, why isn't it happening? Hunter claims it could be lack of supply: "There just aren't enough drugs that exist on the planet to start trying them out. It takes time to scale up what you are producing," he said.

"There also could be many issues around importing the drugs, African countries have been burned before, they've had pharma companies trying to offload totally unsuitable, banned drugs to developing nations."

Seattle scientists seek an Ebola cure
Two Seattle teams are studying ways to treat the virus and how some people survive the infection that kills so many.
By Sandi Doughton
Seattle Times science reporter
Seattle scientists working on an Ebola cure say the growing outbreak in West Africa lends urgency to their mission.
“To see how fast it’s spreading is incredible,” said University of Washington immunologist Michael Gale Jr. “It shows how dire the need is for antiviral therapy.”
Gale and colleagues at Kineta, a Seattle biotech company, have identified compounds that stop the spread of Ebola and other viruses in laboratory experiments on human cells.
Another local lab, headed by UW microbiologist Michael Katze, is using genetic analysis to understand how some individuals survive the deadly infection and to screen existing drugs for Ebola-fighting ability.
Katze and his team have also helped analyze the body’s response to an experimental Ebola vaccine that proved highly effective in monkeys.
Neither Seattle lab is close to bringing a drug to market, but researchers say the outlook is promising — at least from a scientific perspective.
The biggest hurdles are likely to be economic.
Despite the deaths of more than 700 people in recent weeks, Ebola remains a very rare disease, concentrated in some of the world’s poorest countries, Gale pointed out.
“There’s no money in it,” he said. “American pharmaceutical companies won’t touch anything unless there’s at least a billion-dollar market potential.”
Gale hopes to avoid that pitfall by developing treatments that are effective against a wide array of viruses in addition to Ebola — including flu, West Nile virus, dengue fever and possibly even the common cold.
His team is sharing in a five-year, $8.1 million federal grant to identify compounds that rev up the natural infection-fighting ability of cells, allowing them to repel many types of viruses.
In earlier work, Gale identified an enzyme that is key to activating what’s called the innate immune system — the body’s first-line defense against outside invaders.
The enzyme “turns on literally hundreds of genes that fight off viral infection,” he said.

8/4/2014 Seattle scientists seek an Ebola cure | Local News | The Seattle Times
Some viruses, like Ebola, have devised ways to dial down that enzyme, explained Shawn Iadonato, chief scientific officer for Kineta.
At the company’s South Lake Union lab, workers screened more than 100,000 chemical compounds for the ability to dial the enzyme up. They identified 20 promising candidates, three of which stood out in follow-up tests.
No labs in Seattle are equipped or approved to work with Ebola virus, so those tests are conducted at a University of Texas facility in Galveston. “There’s a special building with three-foot-thick concrete walls, negative pressure, Pine-Sol showers, all that kind of stuff,” Gale said. Researchers who handle the virus wear respirators and full protective gear.
The next step in the project is to see if the compounds work as well in monkeys as they do in test tubes, Gale said.
The difficulty of conducting human tests with a disease as deadly as Ebola has stalled progress on other promising treatments, including vaccines, said Angela Rasmussen, a UW researcher who works with Katze.
She and her colleagues have developed strains of laboratory mice that mimic human populations in terms of their genetic variability. When the mice are infected with Ebola in experiments at the federal Rocky Mountain Laboratories in Montana, the animals exhibit the same range of symptoms as infected people, including hemorrhage and liver failure.
Most of the mice die. But about 20 percent get sick, lose weight — and then recover.
“That’s what we see in human outbreaks,” Rasmussen said. “Some people can survive, perhaps because they have some genetic trait or immunity.”
By analyzing the mouse genetics in detail and comparing it with the animals’ symptoms and outcomes, the scientists hope to figure out what allows some individuals to recover.
They’re also screening drugs already on the market, to see if they might prove useful. For example, the Ebola virus is known to piggyback into cells on cholesterol molecules, so it’s possible cholesterol drugs could provide some protection.
Though the prospects are good that treatments can be developed, not many U.S. labs are focused on Ebola, Iadonato said. Only a handful are working on broad-spectrum antivirals.
Much of the funding comes under the umbrella of biodefense, out of concern that the Ebola virus could be used as a weapon.
Considering this year’s record-breaking number of cases, the National Institutes of Health decided to fast-track initial human trials on a promising vaccine that worked well in monkeys. But even if the vaccine proves safe and effective, approval wouldn’t come in time to help stem the current outbreak.
Rasmussen, who has assisted in studies on another promising vaccine, would like to see the process accelerated even more.
“This is an emergency situation where peoples’ lives are at stake,” she said. “It’s a terrible human cost, and it’s a terrible way to die.”

ichidodo: A copy cat technology culled from the US Patriot Missile System...Isrealis aren't that smart.....
The ICBM protection system has a different mechanism which relies heavily on subs, positioning in friendly countries. It's just like saying BMW and Mercedes Benz are the same thing because they are both manufactured in Germany. The Patriot system required human authorisation and deployment, as well as friendly allies to function. The implication is that the human factor increases the margin for errors.

What's the difference you ask me, the Iron dome is intelligent enough to map out the trajectory path of the missiles and make split seconds decision without human interference, with a pseudo-artificial intelligence technology ahead of its time. With this piece of invention, the future of warfare is going to change. The implication of which future wars wouldn't require as much human resources as it presently does. The pre-emptive capabilities, coupled with the cheaper cost makes it more efficient and effective.

SportsSuper Eagles Resolve Bonus Crisis by xwolverine(op): 7:52am On Jun 14, 2013
Nigeria have resolved the bonus dispute which threatened their Fifa Confederations Cup participation.Sports Minister Bolaji Abdullahi intervened to ensure that players were paid their full bonuses and avoid a national embarrassment.

Players refused to fly out to Brazil on Wednesday, insisting that their bonus structure be restored to pre-Nations Cup levels. The players bonuses were slashed by half from $10 000 for a win and $5000 for a draw after the NFF claimed they were facing a cash squeeze.Following the draw against Namibia, the squad were offered the new rate of $2500, which they turned down.Consequently, they failed to fly out of Windhoek in time to catch their connecting flight to Brazil. But with the Minister's intervention, money was quickly raised and forwarded to the squad, who are now expected to leave for Brazil on Thursday morning.

4everGod1: See small boy mikey so you have woken up. Is it google that is now your friend? hahahaha see liar claiming SEO. FYI you missed one you got the wrong guy on ng.linkedin.com. I hope when and if you locate my pics you can self-service off to them in peace. The phone numbers you pasted up there are all over NL as i advertise a lot in the property forum so you no be wiz there. Even my 6yr old kid dey search google and locate me anytime he wants.

Ima Mike you know say you small but here is the fun part, i have been adviced not to let you in on what i want to do but just to go ahead and do it and guess what, that is wise council. I am done with my Honeypot and just running some tests right now. I know you have no clue what a Honeypot is or what its capable of but let me help you, its like the nuclear bomb of the WWW.

I will give you an expo on how i will get you cold and i will do this because you are not a hacker or even close to being one and i know you cannot stop me.

FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO KNOW HOW I WILL GET FXSERVANT2012, I WILL GIVE YOU A VERY SIMPLE APPROACH TO IT. NOTE THIS IS NOT THE ONLY WAY BUT FX IS TOO SIMPLE TO GET SO I WILL USE THE SIMPLEST METHOD. FEEL FREE TO ASK ME ANY QUESTION YOU LIKE FX IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW YOU WOULD BE CAUGHT AND EXPOSED.

I will type the following command into the DOS prompt (without quotation marks): "netstat --a." This will open a routine known as Netstat, which will quickly identify all connections into and out of my computer. Typing "netstat --a" will produce a string of information that identifies my IP address, the port my computer is using for the connection, the "foreign address" of the machine I are connected to, the port that machine is using, and also the status of the connection.

I then Identify what other Netstat commands are available to me by typing "netstat ?", without the question marks. This should show me what commands are available in my version of Netstat. Typical commands include --a, -e, -n, -p proto, -r and --s. I could also combine multiple commands at once.

I will then Combine two commands to refine my search. First, i will use the command that identifies all connections and listening ports, which is usually "-a." Second, find the command that lists the information in numerical form, which is usually "-n." Type the command into the DOS prompt as "netstat --an." Note that you may need to change the "a" or "n" to something else, if they are identified differently in your version of Netstat.

I would then Search for additional Internet activity. I should only have one connection, using one port. If a hacker has gained access to my system, an additional port will be in use. Running the command from the previous step will allow me to see what IP address the hacker is using, the hacker's hostname and the port number he is connecting through. It is possible to shut down the port and block the IP address, but for the moment, let's trace down who is gaining access to the computer and track what they are doing.

Run a trace route on the information I have obtained about the hacker. This affords me an idea of where the individual is located and what ISP he is using to connect to the Internet. Run the trace route by returning to the DOS prompt and typing "tracert ip address/hostname." Remove the quotation marks and replace "ip address" and "hostname" with the relevant information that was gathered in the previous step. Trace route will then trace the path of the connection, including any servers the connect must pass through before reaching me.

I will then Print out the information about the intrusion, then use my firewall to block the port and IP address used by the hacker and then make my way to your location for a one on one.

FX Just in case you feel you cannot be caught because you are not connected to my pc, you forget you have logged into NL and so have I. Need i say more?
PoliticsEzekwesili Allegation: ICPC Arrests Publisher, National Accord Newspaper by xwolverine(op): 12:16am On Mar 08, 2013
In what appears as government
moves to probe the former Minister of
Education, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, the
Independent Corrupt Practices and
other Related Offences Commission
(ICPC) on Wednesday arrested Mr
Tom Chiahemen, Publisher of the
National Accord Newspapers, Abuja
over advertisements his company
placed in 2006 and 2007 on behalf of
the Ministry of Education.

Mr Chiahemen disclosed his arrest in
an online statement sent to African
Examiner.

The statement reads in full:

“Following several telephone calls I received from colleagues, friends
and family members, including visits to my office and home, I wish to
confirm that I was invited, arrested and detained for over seven (7)
hours by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related
Offences Commission (ICPC) at its headquarters in Abuja on
Wednesday. I was also asked to report back at 10 am today
(Thursday) and was kept for over three (3) hours before a lawyer-
friend arrived to sign my bail forms.

“From 10.00am when I arrived to honour the Commission’s
Headquarters on Wednesday to honour their written invitation, I was
not allowed to leave the ICPC until 5:12pm.

“In summary, I would say that I was questioned over the
Advertisements placed in several Nigerian Newspapers by the
Federal Ministry of Education during the tenure of Dr. Obiageli
Ezekwesili, between August 2006 and May 2007.

“The ICPC had, in a letter dated March 4, 2013 (with reference No.
ICPC/CH/FIU.2/126 and addressed to me, said it was investigating
“allegations that bothered on the violation of the Corrupt Practices
and Other Related Offences Act 2000.” It added that pursuant to
Section 28 of the said Act, I was required to appear before the
undersigned (Adedayo A. Kayode, Head, Financial Investigation Unit)
on Wednesday, 6th March 2013 at the ICPC Headquarters, Abuja by
10.00 hours.”

“I arrived the ICPC Headquarters a few minutes to 10.00am and
spent a few minutes at the reception carrying out all the procedures
including surrendering of my telephone handset, before I was shown
to the office of Mr. A. A. Kayode.

“I was handed over to one female official of the Unit who took me into
a tiny room with a big table surrounded by about four chairs. There
was no television or radio set in the room to watch or listen to.

“Without any preamble, she asked me to say all I knew and/or did
with the Federal Ministry of Education between 2006 and 2007 while I
was a staff of Daily Independent Newspaper.

“I explained to her that a company in which I owned majority shares,
Cattigan Communications Limited, was appointed in August 2006 by
the Federal Ministry of Education to handle media buying and
placements (of advertisements) for the Ministry. In that capacity, I
explained to the ICPC official, Cattigan Communications Ltd was
expected to handle the placement/payment of all public notices,
announcements and other publicity/promotions materials from the
Ministry for public/broadcast in the approved national dailies and
electronic stations.

“I went further to recall that in the print media, which Cattigan
Communications Ltd handled mostly, various advertisements running
into almost N30million were placed and paid for by the Federal
Ministry of Education.

“I explained to the lady the circumstances that led to the appointment
of Cattigan Communications Ltd to handle media buying/placements
during the Education Sector Reform Programme of the
Ezekwesili/Obasanjo administration. I told her that the Company was
nominated and presented to the Ministry by Correspondents of the
various national media organizations covering Education Sector,
under the umbrella organization, Education Correspondents
Association of Nigeria (ECAN).

“After listening to my explanations, she said she believed my story
because it tallied with the findings by the ICPC investigators. She told
me they had been to the Daily Independent, my former place of work
and all that. She however asked if I had any documentary evidence
to prove that my company was appointed by the Ministry to handle
the job and whether there were any receipts to back up payments
that were made to Cattigan Communications Ltd. I told her if I
searched my house, I could still locate the letter appointing Cattigan
Communications Ltd and other receipts/acknowledgements of the
payments. I was then given 10 minutes to produce the above
documents from my house, which is not far away from ICPC
headquarters.

“To my utter surprise, when I presented the original copy of the said
letter dated August 24, 2006 and other documents, the ICPC officials
changed their posture. First, they excused me from the Interrogation
Room for about 10 minutes, during which the lady and 3 others went
over my documents and discussed inaudibly among themselves.
“When I was invited back into the Interrogation Room, I was handed
an entirely different form which indicated that I was under arrest and
that the statement I was going to make from thence would be used
against me. I sought to know if I could call in my lawyer to guide and
bail me, but they chorused: “no,” that they don’t allow lawyers to bail
people. Then I asked them to explain why I was under arrest.

“To my bemusement, the lady said I lied because the letter dated
August 24, 2006 appointing Cattigan Communications Limited to
handle advert placements for the Ministry was looking newer and
neater than the letter sent to me only three days ago (March 4, 2013)
by the ICPC. They all argued and insisted that there was no way a
letter issued in 2006 could look so new. I only swore and stood by my
word that the letter was indeed given to me by the Ministry in 2006
and that I was touching or bringing it out from the file for the first time
as there had been no need to touch it before now.

“Their second complaint was that I wrote two different letters to the
Minister of Education on the same day (January 23, 2007) claiming
two different sums of money (N33,395,734.20 and N19,501,327.95).
My explanation was that the second letter was only a follow-up on the
first letter to adjust the number of pages that were to be placed in
newspapers with the available funds, in cheque form. I told the ICPC
officials that the first letter had proposed a total of 125 pages of
Adverts to be placed in 12 different national dailies (The Punch, Daily
Independent, Daily Champion, Thisday, Daily Sun, The Guardian,
The Nation, Leadership, Daily Trust, New Age and New Nigerian) at
the cost of N32,348,195.13 plus VAT of N1,047,539.07), totaling N33,
395,734.20.

The second letter, also dated 23/1/2007 was written in response to
the need to reduce the number of pages of Adverts and the number
of Newspapers to publish the Adverts within the sum ofN20million that
was readily available to the Task Team to use for the payment of
Adverts at the time. This second letter was asking the Minister for the
release of the sum of N19,501,327.95 (as against the earlier letter
that was requesting for N33,395,734.20). This followed the dropping
of two newspapers: Daily Independent and Leadership from the list of
papers earlier proposed.

“The ICPC officials further questioned the propriety of me working
with Daily Independent and at the same time running Cattigan
Communications Ltd which, according to them, was performing similar
functions as my employer, Daily Independent. I tried unsuccessfully to
educate them that Cattigan Communications was only a consulting
firm and that I wasn’t running it full-time; nor was the Company
competing with Daily Independent.

“The issue of Receipts and Invoices used in the transaction also
came up. The ICPC wanted me to show evidence that the N28.
2million that the Federal Ministry of Education paid to Cattigan
Communications was paid to the various Newspapers listed and if so,
where are the Receipts (not the Invoices attached) from those
papers?

“They again wanted me to prove that the Newspapers said to have
been paid the various sums of money actually published the Adverts
for the Ministry and if so, where are the copies of the papers as
evidence?

“I told the ICPC officials that I had collected both the tearsheets
(pages of Newspapers showing the Adverts) and Receipts from the
various Newspapers and handed them over to the Ministry’s Task
Team led, then by Dr. Okey Ikechukwu.

“One of the ICPC officials did ask me how much of the money went to
Dr. Okey Ikechukwu and I said as far as the Adverts placed in the
print media were concerned, each of the Correspondents was
required to forfeit one per cent (1%) of their commission to Cattigan
Communications to settle the bank’s COT, while each Correspondent
who was a member of ECAN, contributed 5% of their commission to
the Treasurer of the Association.

“The ICPC officials were of the view that Cattigan Communications
could be one of the Companies used as a conduit pipe for siphoning
government funds and they told me pointedly that it was possible the
whole Advert jamboree during the tenure of Dr. Ezekwesili as
Education Minister could be a hoax.

“Otherwise, they insisted, I must tell/show the ICPC what each of the
Adverts was about (the content), and where the Adverts were
published. This is something that took place as far back as between
September 2006 and May 2007.

By the time I was released to go home on Wednesday, it was 5.12pm
and I was asked to report back on Thursday for continuation of the
interrogation.

“When I reported at the ICPC headquarters today, I was handed sets
of the documents that had been collected from me on Wednesday
and photocopied. I was asked for write “certified true copy, my full
names, designation, cattigan Communications Ltd, my signature and
date.”

“After the exercise, which took almost 30 minutes to complete, I was
told to go to the gate of the ICPC and make phone calls and bring
somebody to come and bail me. I went to where I had earlier
surrendered my handset, made several phone calls, first to the
Chairman of the Abuja council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists
(NUJ), friends, colleagues and family members. I went back to the
financial investigation unit and waited for about one hour before a
friend (names withheld) arrived and was handed my bail forms to
complete and sign. He was told to be ready to produce me any time
the ICPC needed me.

“As I was signing a section in the form meant for me, I noticed that the
offence against me was: violation of the corrupt practices and other
related offences Act 2000.”

Obviously, this arrest is as a result of recent allegation made by Dr
Oby Ezekwesili that Jonathan’s administration has siphoned $67
billion Foreign Exchange Reserve left by Late President Musa
Yar'Adua and President Olusegun Obasanjo, an allegation that the
presidency has described as “deliberate dissemination of falsehood,
unsubstantiated and malicious claims.”
