PoliticsLagos Banned Activities Of NURTW by xwolverine(op): 5:15pm On Aug 03, 2012
Lagos State Government on Friday banned activities of National Union of Road Transport Workers across the various motor parks in the state.
The state Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa, disclosed this in a chat with journalists in Alausa, Ikeja.
The briefing was also attended by his counterparts in the Justice and Information and Strategy Ministries, Mr. Ade Ipaye and Aderemi Ibirogba.
The meeting was convened to highlight the operational mechanism for the newly signed Road Traffic Law in the state.
Opeifa said, “The government recognises the right for NURTW members to associate. But it believes that the motor parks should be made easy for those who want to carry out their business of commuting in the state to do so without interference.
“Henceforth, union activity is no longer allowed in all the garages in the state. What they need to do now is to operate the way other unions in the state operate by using a recognised office.”
The commissioner revealed that the development also prohibits members of the NURTW from collecting money on the roads from commuters.
“No union member should be seen on the roads collecting money from transport operators. It is illegal and this is how it is contained in the white paper adopted by the state government,” he told journalists on Friday.
He said drivers and conductors in Lagos will be required to wear uniform, adding that this is meant to improve the safety of lives and property within the state.
“Government will soon commence the re-registration of motor parks across the state. The situation where people just park vehicles in some areas and converting them to motor parks is now illegal,” Opeifa noted.
He said there will be differentiation between motor parks, garages and bus stops.

chucky234: You were one of the first people to buy SGS3 in Nigeria but I was one of the few people that imported the SGS3 into Nigeria,do you see how stu:pid you are?
You claimed to have used all iphones,SGS3 and One X without evidence, but I said I have used them and you can find evidence on the NL phone ad section. I have been importing high-tech phones for over five years and has been one of the consistence sellers on NL for the past three whole years,I just bought 20 pieces of the Samsung galaxy pocket from Samsung at the rate of N18,900 per unit then decided ti sell them out to NLanders for N17,000 per unit.
I have sold laptops on NL at unbelievable prices that's because I was the West Africa sales manager for an American tech company for three years and you foolishly think my appointment was a fluke.
So tell me what makes you think you know jack about tech
You keep talking about 2gb RAM and GPU and CPU, benchmark and yet claimed to know shit about tech,I still repeat that the One X is a better phone. If you mention benchmark PI then take the One S as it flop both the One X and S3 in that regard.
All your empty ideas were copied from the internet where junkies analyzed phones they never thave the opportunity to use,my argument are solely based on user experience.
Sure, the S III has a bigger battery (2100mAh), but
the Exynos chipset clearly lacks the extra
power-saving core of Tegra 3 while the One X has a power-saving fifth core to backup its battery which guarantee a long usage duration.
The polycarbonate boby of the HTC One X eclipsed the glossy plastic body of the S3, the HTC sense UI is amazing.
The music experience on the One X with the Dr. Dre beat audio earpiece is unrivalled not even the Samsung TouchWiz can beat the Sense UI, the 3D performance of the One S is also better than the One X and S3.
The fact that you imported a phone doesn't make you an authority in matters that concerns the phone, and from your warped annalysis I can deduce beyond reasonable doubt that you HAVE not used an S3....
Google is your friend, you can try to check how the HTX one X heats up on usage and not only that, the phone sometimes freezes on use. I was almost conned into buying a One X before I actually tested it.

- The user interface of one X is crappy compared to SGS3 try to have a feel of the same phone then you will understand
- Battery is crap - you need to see how i bully a colleague at work using the HTC one X, he is constantly recharging his phone. I once left my phone's wifi up overnight despite the battery level before i slept being around 64% and still had 45% charge on the battery the next morning. Try the same with HTC one X
- The Wifi connectivity is also crap - the current virgin mobile wifi on the underground is testimony to this, One X keeps on disconnecting intermittently, while my S3 runs smoothly
- The unibody design is rubbish considering that the phone's batttery life cant be compared to Iphone (whats the point of unibody then)
- HTC had to add beats headphones to try to persuade people to purchase the phone, same as nokia with their headphones....check out the sales stats of S3 in its first month check

- The autofocus feature on both the video mode and photoshoot mode on SGS3 is the best compared to the feature being absent on the HTC One X

the list is endless, but the verdict is: SGS3 is still the best phone money can buy #gofigure

PoliticsRe: Was Funmilayo Ransome Kuti The First Woman To Drive A Car? by xwolverine: 7:06pm On May 31, 2012
On March 13, 1934, the Reverend Ransome-Kuti's mother died, which
had a profound efifect on him. He wrote to his friend Solanke that it
“night well paralysed me” and subsequently spent a short while in a small
“vacation” bungalow the couple had bought not far from Abeokuta.”
Just eight months before, the reverend's younger brother, joshua Ola-
remi had committed suicide.”

Between March 1935 and July 1936, the Ransome-Kutis carried on a
running correspondence with Solanke about two cars; they had sent him
money to purchase the vehicles in England and to have them delivered
to Nigeria. The reverend had been riding a motorised bike and FRK
had sometimes ridden a bicycle, a practice she had begun in England."
The reverend had a moderately serious accident on his motorbike, and
apparently after that the couple decided to buy a car." In fact, FRK be-
came the first woman to drive a car in Abeokuta.”

The cars were shipped separately; the second arrived as a replacement
of the first, which never ran properly. Given the couple's limited means,
they were forced to purchase used cars. Both the Ransome-Kutis, how-
ever, were scandalized by the condition of the cars sent them
and felt that he had been careless, not choosing the cars well. Probably
he bought the best he could for what they could afford.

FRK apparently read a lot about cars, at one point cautioning Solanke
about the second. replacement car: “Before the car is sent please see that
the following are good: the brakes, the plugs, the clutch, the gear . . . and
that the battery is practically new. I had never had anything to do with
cars in my life and you can see that this car has taught me a lot about
cars.” “ She was also concerned about the availability of spare parts, even
if they had to be shipped from England. At another point, she excoriated
Solanke. saying a mechanic in Nigeria had labeled the car “fifth hand"
and adding, “Cursed was the day on which we cabled you money for a
car!"" In separate letters, both Ransome-Kutis demanded their money
back for the car. It is not clear whether Solanke refunded the money but
the friendship certainly survived the crisis and the couple maintained
their close relations with him.

In 1935, FRK had another child, a son, born in Sacred Heart Hospital
in Abeokuta, who died two weeks after his birth.“ In October 1936, she
had a miscarriage in her sixth month of pregnancy. The child, a daughter,
lived for two days. The Reverend Ransome-Kuti was very concerned for
Funmilayo’s health after the miscarriage and was much relieved when
she seemed completely recovered. He maintained a vigil by her bed-
side and afterward wrote his friend Solanke about the experience." Two
more children. both sons, were born to the Ransome-Kutis in the Gen-
eral Hospital in Abeokuta: Olufela in 1938 and Beltolari in 1940.

That is why Brigadier ogundipe instead of assuming office as head of state became ben johnson and ran away, that is why Adekunle, Lt general akinrinnade, bola tinubu and others ran away during the june 12 crisis before any war had even started,
This is called intelligence and calculation. You assume if he died during the June12 struggle, his dead body would become the governor of Lagos state? even you god Ojukwu was rejected by his own people.

Kanto: that is why General Oladipo Diya was crying like a baby, that is why when yorubas were being killed by the Abacha junta during the june 12 wahala you only make noise without action. Declare war and fight you couldnt, because you were too afraid to contemplate how you would have been used for mincemeat and so you choose the cowardly route of dieing many times before your death. You guys are quite simply bed wetting wimps and slimy cockroaches.

When awolowo was imprisoned for coup plotting and the yoruba region was on fire with yorubas killing themselves, yoruba officers in their usual cowardice chickened out. If not for the Eastern officers who made the mistake of acting to stop the carnage in the west not knowing that the people they were helping are slimy backstabbers, the yorubas would have totally destroyed themselves while all the cowardly yoruba officers did nothing.

William shakespeare said that cowards die many times before their death while a brave man dies but once. you yorubas die a thousand times before your deaths because you are bedwetting wimps.

Because of your corwardice and parasitic nature you joined your hausa masters to fight a war were you preyed on defenceless people, after the war you ended up as 2nd class citizens serving your hausa masters. What a shame! That is what happens to loud but empty wimps like yorubas who cannot stand and fight for their rights. It is better to fight and loose a war than to fight on the winning side and end up a 2nd class cockroach.

Not to worry, very soon religious war will start in your area and this time there will be no eastern officers to do a coup and save your dirty arses. This time around all of you will perish and nigeria will be better for it because you cockroaches introduced all the vices that ruined the nation from the first republic when you introduced coup plotting, the first state of emergency, election rigging corruption, thuggery, arson, mass murders etc You yorubas also introduced the most heinous vice of mass murders and genocide of defenceless civilians including women and children not only in nigeria but in africa. From Adekunle-Awolowo in Biafra, major paul okuntimo in the niger-delta task force and obasanjo in Odi bayelsa state and Zaki Biam benue state where he gave orders and the whole odi and zaki biam community were totally wiped out. In all these incidents yoruba cowardly mass murderers who are expert in preying on defenceless people were behind the mass murder of defenceless civilians including women and children. The most recent yoruba genocide being the mass graves in Odi and zaki biam is there for all to see.

It is obvious that without you cockroaches and all the destructive vices you introduced, the nation would have been better. But the wheel is turning and i urge you to write down todays date and mark my words, because the price will very soon be paid by you cockroaches.

I dont have time to be engaging with ignorant and cowardly cockroaches. Am off on vacation to do better things with my time and dont forget to take a bath because yorubas are well known for being very dirty and ugly!
Second class citizens? PDP has been ruling you guys in the east since 1999, and your regional party apga doesn't even have a foothold, who is really a second class citizen to the Hausas?

The best advice I can give you as a developer, is to develop the application and offer it for free to all the eateries is Lagos for the first six months, then afterwards negotiate a payment plan with them.
Or give them discounts for example if the eatery has 14 branches, tell them to pay for just seven and get the remaining seven for free.
The point here is to outsmart the Big corporation.

Next thing is to add some newer modules to your own version and ensure that it is world standard and marketable.
You can contact me if you need an idea of modules that you could add to your own version to make it better

and if you need to assemble a team of developers, Seun can be of help. Let us discourage all these big companies from cheating young developers.

First thing you can integrate the old sites css styles into the new one, thereby maintaining the structure of the old site, and at the same time integrating the features of the new one.

Secondly the font size should be adjusted and the curved edges of individual divs/tables should be changed to normal edges (box/square)

Thirdly, Username and information on the individual users should be moved to the left hand side, like the old site, preferably in a separate div, floated left.

Apart from all these, its a nice try.

NB: colour scheme should be changed as a matter of urgency

What is anti-people? Your inability to believe in yourself enough to manufacture pins?
[s]GEJ did not manufature the low self-esteem that plagues the majority of Nigerians so much that they will pull their neighbours down and refuse to apply their hands or engage their brains.

Every year, you hear that the economy has grown, yet you feel poorer. Doesn't it occur to your kind to sit down and deeply analyse what the countries set up is? If the economy has grown, it simply means someone has gotten richer; but who? The only thing of significance we are trading is oil, so it wouldn't take even a retard an hour to conclude that the increase in the economy is limited to the oil marketers. They take your money, phuck your woman and then you leap into the streets to fight not them, but GEJ.
Clever hunh? Anti-people indeed.

Those who demonstrated, unwittingly did so to continue feeding the oil marketers; some out of innocent ignorance, many because they were paid and the rest because they are id!ots. It is incredible for anyone to be given the keys out of jail, only for them to demonstrate to remain in jail. Bruv, thats mind boggling shiit right there.[/s]
THe people can not manufacture pins when the federal government has refused to do what is right. The environment in Nigeria is not favorable for business, is it the banks you want to go and meet for loans? is it the insurance company that takes your premium that will pay you on time in the case of an accident to your factory? in the UK, as long as you can show evidence of active employment and good credit rating, you can get a mortgage for your home. There is health insurance and security for your investments, these are the things that makes a country's citizens enterprising. The people will be enterprising when their immediate worries are taking care of.

We are not saying that GEJ should turn Nigeria to UK over night, he should do the basic things that is expected of a responsible president. Things like motor-able roads (it is a known fact that most roads in lagos are not motor-able, especially the federal roads. Or you want the state government to fix it for FG?). Let the signs be seen from everyone, the opposite is the case. Anytime I visit Nigeria, the stench that greets me from MMIA is terrible, from the customs asking for money, to the useless waiting lounge, the list is endless.

All we want is good governance, not lies and unreasonable promisses and inconsistencies b the FG.

This truth remains! NIGERIA SHALL OUT LIVE GEJ.

To all Nigerians, whether home or in the diaspora that live daily, praying and walking justly for a Nigeria where competence and National patrotism is the order of the day, I say to you, do not give up! Remember this: The darker the Night, the closer the morning.

With GEJ's government, we have been plunged into the Darkest of Nigeria's dark reign and this gives me hope that a Nigeria free of incompetent and tribalistic and unpatrotic folks like GE is arising and our children, your children would live in a Nigeria, whether North or South, that is prosperous, vibrant and corruption free. This I know is going to happen and it will happen!

@Topic,
Just look the pic posted by OMA4J. If that is truly Boyloaf and his boyz, you could deduce onething from that pic : A yes Sir atmosphere!

Why on earth do we need to send these militant abroad for training? why can't we bring these foriegn consultants to Nigeria, set up these facilities, and get the boys trained and have a ptogramme in place that would later make some of these boys the handlers of these training facilities? Surely this would create more jobs for the Nigerian economy!
God bless you for this post.
The likes of beaf thinks it is a tribal war, while forgetting that it is about issues of morality. The fact that some previous military administrators have marginalised some set of people doesn't mean that they should continue to live in bitternes and not speak out to the unjust treatment.

As a matter of fact, is it only the ex militants that are jobless in the region, what happens to other jobless graduates in the same region? why cant the FG establish an institution in ND and train the ex-militants and other graduates in this facility?

These are questions that begs for answers, but as usual as long as it involves money for the boys, the trend continues.

Beaf:
Shouldn't you be more worried about your own governors that for 51 years have relied on an official almajiri system? Why is your state a net absorber of revenue, rather than a generator? The answer to that question would deeply embarrass any one witha glimmer of morality.

I am much more worried for those whose sense of innovation and productivity have been denuded to nothingness from feeding fat on a region of the country. Unfortunately for una, dat region don tire.
If you are jealous of boyloaf for his being sent to inspect training facilities for militants; then feel free to become a militant for tin, cocao, rubber, oil palm etc. Simply occupy your own resources, make your own money and keep your eyes to yourself.

Dude, join the call for true federalism. Asking to end corruption is a fallacy when the country's economy is exploitative, or how do you exploit people transparently?
I laugh at some of your comments, you assume everyone is as biased as you? You just dont get it do you?

Your level of ignorance is staggering, in this present age and clime, you condone stealing and militancy as the way to Shangri-La?

Let me school you, when I commented about boyloaf, I dont give a rats ar.se if he is the president of Nigeria, we have seen what Nigeria would be like in the nearest future, hence made an alternative plan. It is only frustrating for some of us that wouldn't forget our roots, for us to see what goes down on a daily basis in that country. To make matters worse, some of you are busy defending this crap all in the name of federalism while other african countries are making progress.

The simple point we are making is this, you dont give someone of questionable character the responsibility of representing a sovereign state, and expect the international communities not to suspect us as a nation. The former RBS boss was stripped of his knighthood just this week, how many people have we stripped of national honours? if it was in Nigeria they will even give him GCFR.

You need to understand that having oil reserves will not solve in recalcitrant issues, the government is corrupt because you its citizen are also corrupt, it takes two to tango.

For your information, it is only in Nigeria that you know that someone is Hausa, Igbo, Ijaw, Or Yoruba, in the eyes of a foreigner, you are all Nigerians. And the earlier you understand that dealing with the issues of irresponsibility as the way forward the better for you.

sheyguy:
keep it up, we already know ur denial tactics.was it possible for any south south man to come out and say this sort of shiit in the 50s? Even your past hero know whats up back then. I no blame u at all. For now while Nigeria sucks ur oil u can occupy my arse while u scream occupy ur oil on the pages of NL.
@sheyguy, leave beaf to his ignorance. The same way their governors continue to rob them of their federal allocations all in the name of occupying their resources. I wouldn't be surprised if Boyloaf campaigns for the governorship in 2015.

Perching like vultures indeed, Instead of the likes of beaf to be unbiased in their arguments in favour of corruption, and demand for accountability, they are busy asking for the country to split. Well, if Nigeria splits and ND forms a nation, the natural thing that would play out is the likes of Boyloaf and Asari lording over them and treating them like slaves, as long as a few "elders" are being bribed. or worst case scenerio, the tribe with the largest army, rule the weaker ones and like they say the rat race continues.

We shall see.
