100Cents: I have not been successful with animal farming.

Dunno why.

I bought male and female goat in 2012 and the male was always making noise. The male goat never mated with the female. I killed the noisome male. The female is still there.

I asked one silly girl to help me buy local breed of male and female chicken for agric, she went and bought only a Cork, no hen. I asked her why, she said she will sell me one of her mature hens..

Now the Cork has run away, no hen yet. Smh. If she brings the hen, I will just eat it.

Nah only plantain and banana I get for backyard be the only farming I don do. Yet I love farming.
What a funny dude!

100cents, is this what you called animal farming?
BusinessRe: Please Help: I'm Tired Of This Paid Employment by yemmit90:
@op, are you single or married? Definitely you're about to take a life changing decision in your life. If you're married, it won't be easy for you to quit a job that provided you/family a daily bread and start hustling for a business. But the good news is that you were able to save at least 2M.

I can confidently tell you, even with 2M,if you don't do the right business(business that will fetch you a quick/instant return),you may go broke in less than a year. There are some businesses you can do with this money and make a good return in few weeks.

Transport- a standard 18 passengers Tokunbo bus should cost less than 2M. Lagos- Abuja or Lagos-PH/Kano once every week.

Though it's better to do it by yourself but if you can't,find a trusted person.

I gave the above advise base on my assumption that you're married and have a lot of responsibilities.

jennylove7575: I love your brilliant analysis o. You are well on point..let's deeply look at what yemmit90 is trying to say..he is kind of right. Lets not rule out the facts that some Nigerian people success started secretly by their involvement in secret cult or criminality. Maybe his own success story falls within that category. How do you expect such person to tell you the secret of their success..if he tells you now he started with body organ trading or yahoo yahoo, or hired assassin or drug baron, is that an inspiring thng that u would have loved to hear? When people talk I read in between the line. Yemmit90 might be mincing words there, he might be meaning hoarding his business ideas..as we all know English language is hard..therefore people are bound to put there message across wrongly. grin
You perspective was quite wrong. Besides, I was not saying I'm a successful man.

Life is a survival of the fittest, likewise the business. There are thousands of people out there who're already started or wants to do the same business you were thinking of. Therefore, your business secrete is what make you unique, outstanding and different from others.

Hope you get my point?

Xpressionz: I am very sorry to say this but successful people do not talk as you do. Successful people dont hide their secrets to success. If at all they hide anything, then it will be their business ideas but not their principles to success.

What really is success to you. Man attains success when he helps others to do the same. You can keep hiding your secrets as you have said but I can assure you that no success is guaranteed this way. You think you have achieved many things by sleepless nights and you think it is therefore worth hiding, then maybe I should tell that sleepless nights does not assure success.

So whatever it is you think you have achieved is nothing compared to what you will achieve when you learn to help other up the ladder.
Seem you don't understand my message very well. Read my post again, what I meant is that there are some ideas that differentiate you from others in the business world, and you don't expect such Ideas to be share in public(especially on the internet) because that's what make you difference among numerous competitors around.

Let face reality here, successful people only tell you some of their challenges and how lucrative their businesses are in order to encourage or motivate you. They will never tell you what make them different in their respective businesses.

The best way to attain success in a particular line of business is not by asking the person his/her business secrete but by emulate and study him/her I.e, their way of life, principles and market/service delivery strategies or styles.

You may ask general question about his business but not what make him different(his secrete).
BusinessRe: Hello Mr Seun Osewa! Pls Share Your Online Business Success by yemmit90: 11:38am On Sep 05, 2014
@op,Success is secrete, what differentiate successful people from the rest is because 'they know what many do not know'.

There are few things i will never share at least for free. This is because they took me several sleepless night to come up with it, and besides, people don't usually value what they receive for free especially on the internet.

But calling a girl u intend to convert and telling her u just want to hear her voice is nonsense
If u got notin to tell her, don't call.

How many times have u successfully gotten a girl's number the day u met her? I'm not talking abt an ashawo, I mean a real chick.
But he's telling you the truth man. Except no. 3 and 7, others points doesnt make any sense to me.

As for the last paragraph of the quoted post, except she's a girl you normally see every day,the best thing to do is to collect her number before you depart from each other. Your success depends on the tactics/manner of your approach.

ezo4fta: my birds are 6 weeks old. Yes I hv completed the vaccination. The birds are inside the cage.
Definitely you must have completed their vaccine by six weeks. Since they were all very healthy before you left, I suspected the death might be as a result of 'Stress'(caused by inadequate space or ventilation or they are struggling to take feed, hence stress out.

Broilers are very fragile animal, stress caused by the aforementioned condition kill them faster than disease
AgricultureRe: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by yemmit90: 11:32am On Aug 22, 2014
sleekman: this is a misconception that needs 2b corrected. U don't only need 2 raise d temp in an area of brooding birds only. Even 4 mature birds u need 2 raise d temp either 2 maintain maximum egg production or help boost d birds natural anti-bodies fighting mechanisms. U must 1st and foremost concentrate on helping ur birds 2 naturally fight anti-bodies by helping 2 boost its immune system. Effective lighting, temperature, humidity, nutrient and wind speed control are essential 4 each of d birds immune system strengthening.
What's this one saying for God sake! Didn't you see 'Broilers' in the post I quoted?

It's only Layers that needs warm environment or light to boost their egg production, not Broilers.

Once the broilers pass brooding stage(which should'nt more than 10days maximum, the only thing they need is adequate ventilation or fresh air.

I practice what I'm saying ok!

agonbello: Good morning house.

Pls how many 200watt lamps will be required to provide the necessary heat for adequate brooding of 500 broiler birds (frm day-old to 2 to 3 wks)?

Thanks.
Do you mean '200watts of electric lamps' or charging lamp, etc? Lamp is not that effective compare to coal. Just one heating coal pot in a well seal small brooding house is enough for your 500birds.

Besides, you only brood for a minimum of 4/5days or maximum of 7/10days depends on weather.

How do you discover this?
AgricultureRe: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by yemmit90: 11:23pm On Aug 18, 2014
davidzfarm18: @Agonbello.
The secret is feeding. Feeding & feeding.
Broilers will consume abt 4kg of feeds to produce 2.7 kg live weight. If you are miserly with the feed. You will end up feeding them more over a long period of time becos they will use part of the feed for their daily body requirement. If you can achieve giving them 4kg feed consumption in 40 days; the better._
Have you ever put it test/practice to see the result, A broiler feeding with 4kg of feed within 40 days and the one feeding with same 4kg of feed in 49days or more?Which is the heaviest?

If you've not, please do and come back to tell me your result.
AgricultureRe: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by yemmit90: 11:07pm On Aug 18, 2014
davinci7: If you feed your broiler ad libitum (everytime of the day),at 7 weeks they would have attained good market weight. The mistake we make is that we tend to be miserly with feed and in turn they stay longer to attain market weight hence eating into the little profit the farmer would've made.Mind you the older they become the more feed you will feed them because their feed conversion rate lessens with age. So i will advice you time when you will be selling of your birds at 7-8weeks to be that xmas period hence purchase your DOC 7 weeks away from xmas.If you doubt this why dont you give it a try now, afterall it still 19 weeks away from xmas
In as much as I will agree with you that feeding the Broilers actually lead to a good result,I will also like to tell you that you can feed them 100 times a day and still not achieved a desire results. With moderate feeding and good hygiene, an healthy Broiler should attained 2.5kg of body weight in 7 weeks.

The kind of feeds they consume and management matter a lot. For instance, a stress free bird that consumed 3.5kg of feed in 6weeks would definitely heavier than the stressed one within the same period. Besides, if you don't allow the food they consume to process at least for a while before giving them another one,you are just giving them a reason to spoil your litter with poo every 2days.

One thing about Broilers is that,if the entire birds are eating 20bags of feed daily, and you give them 30bags same day, they will still consume everything and even want more with almost the same weight they added when giving 20bags. It's all about calculation.
PoliticsRe: Osun Poll Today, What Is Happening In Your Area? by yemmit90: 7:26am On Aug 10, 2014
BekeeBuAgbara: Forget wetin? Free and fair election which OBJ and Yaradua couldn't give Nigerians is what you have taken for granted today. If APC takes over government at the center, that's bye bye to credible election. Examples are Fashola and Oshiomole that rigged LGA elections in their states and arrogantly tell people ''if you are not satisfied go to court''.
I wonder why the people of Osun didn't ''stand still their votes'' in 2007 when the election was rigged against the same Ogbeni Rauf.
Even if GEJ is not doing well in some areas, is it forbidden for you to admit that at least under GEJ the votes of the people count unlike before. Jonathan had what it takes to rig Osun election and tell APC ''go to court''.
The free and fair election should be attribute to the new system of counting adopted by Prof. JEGA and not GEJ.

OBJ or whoever would not be rigging elections so easily if this system has been put in place then.

As long as votes are counting at pooling booth, it would be very difficult for any person/Government to rig.

davinci7: Pleaee, House,i am also in serious need of any know. safe odour control for poultry. I will be most grateful if anyone can profer solution. Thank you
It's quite very easy to have a odourless poultry if you're dealing with broilers. Laying birds on the other hands, requires more effort to curb the odour the litter might be generated.

BROILERS- the life circle is small, hence allow you to remove entire litter, pack it in the hole dug and burn it completely down using the petrol.

LAYERS- construction pattern of your floor is the key. To avoid excessive odour, a sloping elongate free water passage should be make under each battery cage. This will allow daily flushing of the birds waste drops to the extreme un-plaster covered big hole.

For the deep litter system, make sure the litter is always dry, don't allow spillage of water, so that it would be very easy to be completely burn down (using a lot of petrol)in the hole dug.

fnk: Has anyone experience mortality due to changing the saw-dust for the birds. I just lost 0ver 70 birds (over 1.3kg) and they suspected that an infection could have occurred due to the new saw-dust.
Did the dead birds shows any symptom of infection?

If NO,
then the mortality is due to stress they were exposed to during the time you're changing their litter. Broilers are very fragile animal, hence the new method requires the farmers to spread new sawdust on the old litter in order not to stress them much. Stress kill broilers faster than infection.

If the above is the case, I think the farm manager/workers were a little bit careless to handle the situation. The tired birds/about to die ones noticed immediately after the litter were changed should've been removed from the pen, pouring cold water on and allow to remain in highly ventilation house or outside the pen area(or under electric fan)for few hours.

You will be surprise to see them recuperated after few minutes.

RomanceRe: How Do You Define A Big Boy by yemmit90: 10:24am On Jul 28, 2014
Characteristic of a Big boy;

1. His dressing(quality package).

2. Money.

3. Confidence.

4. Nice ride and apartment.

5. Worthy profession/business.

A big boy don't give a damn, he rarely woo ladies except the one he really wants to keep.

But sometimes, being tall, dark and handsome with nice package(couple with little cash),automatically earned you the title.

This's what many graduates keep saying. Do you think people will tell you if they are making real money from their business? Or do you think hard working business man will like to lend his money to a lazy guy who cannot use his head to think of what to do other than his certificate?

The truth is that, jobs are scarce compare to those that are looking for it. If there are enough jobs, there won't be a reason for favourism etc.

As for where a broke graduate will get money to start something, many us know how to source money for university education,Msc,PhD,Ican, law school and others costly professional exams but cannot find money to do business?
