CareerRe: The Bank Sacking News == Were You Sacked? Lets Hear From You by Yoighaman(m): 2:40pm On Feb 25, 2010
Inasmuch as the experiences of the sacked bankers are poignant and the actions of the bank owners ‘not commendable’; we should be mindful that these are businessmen who are profit oriented and core capitalist who seek to maximize profit at the expense of ‘anybody’

I do not support their actions and at the least, they should have had some empathy on these guys many of whom worked assiduously for their companies before embarking on the mass sack.

The Poster of this thread have not asked for too much; if people could come out openly to share painful experiences such as r*a-p*e, sexual assault, strained relationships, loss of a loved one, affliction with deadly diseases, e.t.c I do not see any reason why we shouldn’t learn from their experiences.

NL comprises various categories of people which include the young and inexperienced who would immensely benefit from the lessons learnt from these unprecedented experiences.

Cheers.

Foreign AffairsJohn And Elizabeth Edwards Seperates by Yoighaman(op): 9:48am On Jan 29, 2010
John Edwards had 'stood' by his wife who's been fighting cancer for years and had showered praises on her publicly.

So sad…a startling revelation exposed his extra-marital affairs that produced a child; now the couple’s marriage is torn apart

Should Elizabeth forgive her husband who had been supportive in spite of her ill-health? Or should she just trash him and move on with her life?

What’s your take on this issue?

Jarus:
I have never advised anybody not to prepare. I have always believed that no matter how brilliant you are, you just have to prepare. No two ways about it. I was just trying to advise on the easiest preparation he can make - "Go through enough past questions and examine the solutions. You don't need any cramming, just understand the principles, just familiarize yourself with major topics".

I have never been a believer in over-studying. I go for the shortest possible cut - treat past questions, roughly cover major topics and relax, especially when I don't have much time.
I have never attended any ICAN class yet I have 3 ICAN prizes under my belt, including Overall Best candidate in one of the diets.

Also, I didn't say Costing and Auditing are prerequisites for passing FA and Tax. I just felt the former are simpler than the latter, and trying to build a 'if-I-can-pass-x-why-can't-I-pass-Y' spirit in her.
There's no substitute for hard work including passing your ICAN exams.

I am in sync with the above quote; it worked for me in dem days.

all the best.

Fhemmmy:
What kinda space would you need after you have married.
if you need space and privacy, go out and chill and come back and sleep beside her . . . .privacy and marriage? i am sure you will soon line up on the other side in Las Vegas
Does this imply that marriage dispels privacy?

-I love late night study but she hates being disturbed at night; must i go to the study all the time 'cos my wife wants to sleep?
-I'm a 'shallow sleeper' and gets disturbed by any slight movement but oh! She snores at night
-I light things being properly arrange but she's a bit care-free about stuffs
-I'm not a TV person as such but she has the time-schedule for all TV programmes on her finger-tips
-I love very cold atmosphere but she catches cold easily
-I listen to music before I sleep but she detests ‘noise’ at night
-I cannot sleep with the lights on but she likes bright lights at night

I could go on and on and on.

Who is meant to compromise on the dislikes? my wife? me?

I’d rather be in a separate room, please.

[b]muslims in the house should read Judges 6:25-32 in the bible.
if you are serving a living true God, he doesn't need you to fight for him or defend his honor
or like trenchcoat said to one chap here that if i see you in person i will kill you myself,
i once told a muslim friend of mine that islam is a violent religion( luckily for me, he is not fanatical and he is yoruba from lagos and was open to the discussion)
i challenged him to go to a church during sunday service and insult Jesus+God and say all types of blasphemies and see what happens.
being a muslim, he should also go to a mosque during Friday prayers and say the same thing in reference to mohammed and allah. i deliberately told him to go to a church first because i was sure he would come out alive probably with a deliverance session held for him but can he survive such among his fellow muslims?

trenchcoat,
i challenge you to try out my challenge to that friend of mine who laughed it off saying he was sure he would come out of the church alive and well fed but was certain it was a one way ticket to hell if he tried it in a mosque.

I'd have my bedroom while my wife would have hers when i get married.

If she chooses, she could sleep in my room every nite but i need my privacy as well.

Yes, she's my wife n i love her but common, we need to do what'll work for us irrespective of societal norms or tradition

Maryam meant more than anyone could ever imagine to IBB; she was his pillar, his tears were real!

I reiterate as usual: only when we forgive the past can we move forward as individuals and as a People.

May her soul rest in peace.

No doubt, IBB's apology would go a long way though.

I'm sure the FBI will detain him for a very long period of time in order to extract useful piece of information from him

I'm glad it didn't occur in Nigeria where it would have been covered up immediately

Trust Americans; they know how to deal with him

It might sound illogical and unintelligent but i think Nigerians need to look further into this Sanusi-Dr. Mutallab-Farouk-Jaiz Bank-Northern agenda-extremist et al circle.

Is is semantics we are dealing with here? who cares what nomenclature is given? is it ow the crime is committed or the effect of the crime? if i blow up a house with 20 ppl and blow up the house with 20 ppl and myself(making 21) whats the difference? ok. In one instance I'm an attacker, in the other I'm a terrorist. And being a terrorist is worse than being an attacker abi?
The guy is simply a terrorist and must be treated as one

Mohammad Amir Ajmal Qasab survived after the November 2008 Mumbai massacre, was he labeled a 'terrorist' or not?

futile or not futile; bomber or suicide bomber; a terrorist is a terrorist

Osama has not been captured; is he labeled a goodwill ambassador?

Roliks09:
@yoighaman, Farouk isnt a matyr. He is merely an overzealous exuberant chap. Thats not the way matyrs are made. You should drop the sarcasm and understand what a point of view is about before making conclusions. Its funny how little people know and act like they are the most knowlegeable of all. Very few non-muslims and even muslims can boast of knowing islam. Yet, we all come here and open our mouths and make conclusions based on sterotypes and mere assumptions.
Whilst our hearts are heavy over the incident, some folks r bitter about the unsuccessful attempt

Was the Journalist that hurled his shoe at George Bush in Iraq celebrated by 'terrorist' or not?
PoliticsRe: Northwest Flight 253 Leg-bomber Is Son Of Dr.umaru Abdul Muttalab, by Yoighaman(m): 9:36pm On Dec 26, 2009
This is so so sad; i am dazed   cryby this guy's action

This terrorism s*h*i*t is taking new dimensions by the day; it is just plain nebulous as it defies age, social class, education e.t.c

Religion indeed is the most powerful force in the world; how else does one explain what this guy got himself involved in.

His family, Nigerians and Africans as a whole might term his action as utterly disgraceful and embarrasing; but hey! he is a Martyr in "their world"

The war on terrorism should be fought 'ideologically' and supported with weapons; otherwise i forsee an endless and futile war

i wonder how many of such guys r in d offing

so sad  embarassed
BusinessRe: 5 Short Effective Guides To Starting Great Businesses by Yoighaman(m): 7:58pm On Dec 26, 2009
Nice post.

In addition; Don't start a business simply because you like the idea e.g starting a restaurant because you are a good cook, setting up a boutique because you love clothes, starting a hospital because you are a Medical Doctor e.t.c

Start a business (Goods or Services) that solves a problem or meet a need.

You could be a Lawyer by Profession but decide to set-up a Hospital (with a Licensed Doctor as a dormant Partner) or an Architect setting up an Accounting Firm (with a Chartered Accountant as a dormant Partner) because there is a need for it in your target Market.

Cheers.
