LegendHero:You see neither you or I were there when these events unfolded; all we write here is based on the inferences from what we read from authors who either were active participants, very close persons to the original actors or historians. We can be 100% certain in some grey areas especially those that weren't covered in video or radio transcript. My argument here is as regards the treatment against my people particularly my generation for events that we hardly know about. This happens everywhere and failure to address will see everyone suffering the consequence. If it was a majorly a northern affair, you should then see why Ojukwu was adamant in not accepting the rulership of Gowon. Fajuyi- the military administrator of the West was killed, no one asked questions about it. Ogundipe the highest military officer in the Nigerian army was disregarded; no one queried about it. If Ojukwu was to just throw in the towel at that time, it means Southern Nigeria was a territory filled with weaklings. He tried to see to a peaceful resolution of the tension by ensuring a round table discussion was held with international witnesses around at Aburi. This was equally a rare opportunity for both the West and MidWest region to neutralize the impending domination coming. There everyone was free to speak and records were taken. Agreements were made and compromises accepted. Why wasn't it implemented after they all returned to Nigeria? Ojukwu tried his best. As for Nigeria having no real history available for the younger generation to learn from; who's to blame? If truly the victors narrative is the gospel truth, why don't they teach it in schools? Why did they stop history classes in schools? You see, not everything my own person tells me I wholly believe. I reason over things for myself and infer my own conclusions. I don't have to agree with everything a man says simply because I share the same group or nation with him. This is me personally. The East was and is still being treated badly; this is my grouse with Nigeria and anything within my reach to do to assuage the situation at home will be explored. Finally, what I noticed is that most Yorubas think Biafra is all about conquest and as such fear we might invade them. I can't seem to understand such a reasoning. A people who were massacred and are struggling to defend themselves don't go up invading another territory altogether. That's suicidal. This was why Ojukwu chose Banjo for the task. If Biafran forces were able to dislodge the northern soldiers from Ore and say Ijebu Ode, Banjo could easily convince lots of Yoruba youths to form a resistance against the remaining northern soldiers and as such flush them away from the whole West and effectively, all of southern Nigeria. That was the plan. Unfortunately, I guess it was misunderstood. The rest is now history and Nigeria being in the wrong hands have placed us where we are today. NB: Going to your new thread now |
LegendHero:Why will Biafran soldiers kill civilians on their way to the sit of power? We're Biafran soldiers that insensitive? Is Banjo not there with them till the end? Check your history again. If nothing of such exits, then I'll apologize to you. On another note, the coup that killed Ironsi; was it a Nigerian coup or a northern coup? If it was a Nigerian coup, why wasn't Ogundipe made to take the mantle of leadership since he was the next most senior military officer? Were Yoruba soldiers part of the so called 'counter coup' or was it a pure northern affair? |
LegendHero:You claimed to have access to virtually all information regarding Nigerian history especially at that critical time. Do you mind if I ask you to post the transcript of the discussion between Ojukwu and Awolowo shortly before the war started? All soldiers were requested to return to their respective regions of origin. Did those from the north vacate the western region? Wasn't it a cause for concern to Awolowo? Didn't he tell that to Ojukwu? |
Chemcrown:Pls, care to explain why you think my post is funny? |
@Organs As regards me(us) failing in our march, it is immaterial. One thing I'm 100% certain of is that irrespective of the outcome of our present agitation, our situation will be better after the smoldering ashes have died out. I'll use history to teach you this. Germany lost WW1 not at home but in the battlefield and they got the worst deal ever in the Versailles Treaty. This evil treaty eventually led to WW2 and Germany lost again, this time the enemies entered into the heart of Germany. These conquerors were faced with two options: either they wipe out the entire Germans or they create a better deal for them. Do you know what they did? They chose the latter. Firstly, it's not easy wiping out an entire nation. Secondly, another Versailles Treaty will bring the same result again. So, they were wise enough to rebuild Germany. Mercedes-Benz was the official cars of the Nazi Germany Army but the English didn't kill it, rather they rebuilt and helped to nurture it. See Mercedes today. If Nigeria continues this evil policy of steangulating the East, another war will happen which will be worst than the first. Tens of millions may die and our situation will never be as bad as it is today. Who do we say lost more then? Go and research about everything I wrote here and point out any error in my post. Death to the evil contraption. |
Organs:You clearly don't know history and as a matter of fact, are an ignoramus. Do you know that Lagos was the former capital of Nigeria? Do you know that in the 60s, there were fewer Igbos in Lagos than in PortHarcourt? As at that decade, the Eastern region was the fastest developing region in Nigeria. The war and the evil policies set against the East after the war turned the region to what it is today. THIS IS WHY WE ARE PRESENTLY AGITATING. In the 60s, the East had 4 notable cities as against 2 in the West and 3 in the north. These cities were Aba, Enugu, Onitsha and Port Harcourt which was fully functional. The West had Lagos and Ibadan. The north had Kano, Kaduna and Jos. That Igbos ventured in significant numbers to the north was because of the too much opportunities they saw there to make money. Didn't Yorubas go to Jos for Tin mining? Weren't there Yorubas in Enugu for coal mining? Ojukwu's father owned the biggest logistics and transport company with trucks and crisscrossing all over Nigeria then. You don't know a lot of wealthy Igbo men based in the East lost all they had as the economy of the East was devastated during the war. Don't you watch the destruction in the present war in Libya, Syria and Iraq? How do you expect to see or hear of billionaire Igbos who were solely based in the East when they lost everything they had including the monies they had in their bank account. If the Nigerian government had rebuilt the East and create policies to support economic growth there, do you think most Igbos would have flood to your region or the north again? Ok. Today, is Europe not flooded with refugees from the middle East since the Afghan, Iraqi and Syrian wars started? See, when you create a problem somewhere without finding a solution to address it, it will some how return to torment you some day. This Igbo proverb captures it in a nutshell: 'he who brings an ant infested wood is inviting the lizards to feast in his home'. Nigerian government destroyed the East and refused to develop it; what did they expect? Port Harcourt is no more a real Sea Port as it use to be. No good roads and any federal government presence in the East. A region with tens of millions of people. What do you expect? |
tricksters:I wanted to reply this message with barrage of points but when I saw your moniker, it dawned on me that it will be a waste of time. As a man thinks, so he is 'tricksters'. |
Magicians:Why are you so enraged by him sharing his experience? Why insult his father for airing his opinion? Why so much hatred for Biafra when they neither seek you, your people, property or land? Why? Why?? Why ![]() |
valarmorghulis:Wrong and wrong. If Ojukwu wanted to attack Yorubas(Lagos), would he have made a Yoruba man- Banjo, the commander of that battalion? No. A Yoruba man led that expedition towards Lagos and the aim was to drive the northern soldiers out of Lagos and expectedly the whole western Nigeria. Awolowo initially complained to Ojukwu about how northern soldiers dominated his region. Read history books again. Igbos had no problems with the Yorubas up to the time of that expedition. |
Magicians:All I can see in your post is curse, curse, curse. The shows your state of mind. My message is clear to everyone. Do you want to know who Igbos hate? I'll tell you. Buhari is a typical example. We can see him for who he truly is. Did we hide it? Immediately he got into the office, what did he say? 97% and 5%. Has he not done everything to live up to that decision of his? That he's continuing the Second Niger Bridge or constructing roads mean nothing. You guys can never make us clap for a job that should be done for the benefit of all as though it was meant exclusively for all. We see beyond your gimmicks. Buhari has been a total failure as Nigeria's present economy has shown. We rejecting him was based on both hindsight and foresight. Have we not been vindicated? It's only in Nigeria that those who fought and bled for independence were never given the honour of leading the country in the capacity of President to enable them layout what fire the motivation for that independence. Why was Zik denied the position? Why was Awo denied the same position? They were made to watch from the sideline. I can confidently say that they both died unfulfilled. I repeat: Igbos don't hate Yorubas, if we do, it will be evident to all. There are many instances to point as a confirmation to my assertion. The general belief among us is that Yorubas betrayed us. Majority of Yorubas who fought on the Nigerian side acted as though they were fighting with a mortal enemy. Was it Ibrahim Taiwo or Benjamin Adekunle? What about the infamous Awolowo? Igbos and Yorubas never had any score to settle as at that time. I still continue to wonder and shudder at the manner of response most Yorubas have about Biafra. Biafra was like Noah's ark during the flood. Nigerian government couldn't protect her own citizens from slaughter in broad daylight. What other options did the Igbos and other Easterners have that time? If the same situation presents itself again, another Biafra will be declared but this time with the support of a world power to guarantee the continuous supply of weapons and other logistics. This is when Nigeria will beg for peace. |
kingkakaone:No learned Igbo man will fault this post of yours. That's why Zik despite his achievement for independence is not celebrated in Igboland. As for Obiano, he's doing it perhaps to curry favour with the government at the centre for his personal ambition. Zik I believe was a man that was sincerely wrong. I wish people could understand him. He never wanted to see a divided Africa even if it means selling away his family or even ethnic group. Awo and Bello were never like that. The British saw this and played him very well because it was him they feared most. Even in the thick of the war you could see him stand for a United Nigeria by calling Ojukwu - a dictator. Using words like rebels for his own people who are suffering and dying hoping that others could see what he had in mind but they could see nada. All they saw was a people including him that should be defeated and silenced. I would have believed in Nigeria and their narrative if they had supported Zik to be the President having sacrificed all these but alas, it wasn't to be so. This message should sink into the minds of all Igbos and other Eastern ethnic groups who think going against the consensus of your people to prove your loyalty to a Nigeria before the Hausa/fulani politicians is all a waste of time. You will be disgraced if not killed at the end. Didn't it happen to Isaac Adaka Boro? Didn't it happen to Gowon himself? Why did Dimka kill Murtala? Why did Gideon Orkar carry out the coup? What was his speech like? Obasanjo himself was almost killed despite his sacrifice for Nigeria save for providence. His presidential emergence was a trade off for the fulani led north to remain in power not because they loved him. Why is he complaining of recent? What about T.Y Danjuma? Is he not lamenting today? Biafra became a necessity today for most Igbos because they see Nigeria as hopeless and irredeemable. They don't have to hate anyone for that. We don't seek the failure of anyone. We just seek to be able to control our destiny in a country that we can plan ourselves. How calling Biafra translates to war beats my imagination? Did we declare war before? NO! The only thing we are saying today is that fulanis will not import their people from other countries to come take over our lands and they won't cage us as they're doing to others now. As for those aiding them despite how clear their evil plans are, we say; watch it. Time shall tell. |
Area4Area:It's you who didn't read his post. You would have seen his mockery of Igbos. Did we say Americans hate Igbos? Did we even insinuate such? America have laws yet they aren't saints. Most big business men look for loopholes to circumvent having the money cut by government laws. Some get away with it while others don't. This is why laws are always amended to either block the loopholes or to slacken them so as to ease business. In certain cases, diplomacy is used to mend some discrepancies and let business flow. My questions again are; did he defraud any US business or government agency? Did any individual or company accuse him of robbing them? His purported crime was money laundering and trying to play smart against the American system. Does it call for all the crucifixion from his supposed compatriots? Who loses if he's asked to forfeit the money? Any sincere individual will see the hatred with which people like you bear against him which goes beyond just him but to his origin. Like I said before, let's see how it pans out in the court. We shall see how peace and growth will be in the shithole when you think you can hate a sizeable and ebullient part of your supposed country. |
IronGalaxy:Apartheid was evil quite sure but I'm looking at it holistically. Without apartheid, the black SAns would have dominated politics earlier which could have possibly reduced the level of investment/development the country would have seen. This in turn would have robbed the country the giant strides it achieved from the 70s to the early 1990s. So, you see where my argument comes from? Well as a black man, I share your sentiments on the damage apartheid did. It was horrendous and humiliating. It shattered the social cohesion that might have given SA a better communal development but we can't be sure that without it, the black SAns won't have walked the path other African countries treaded i.e dismiss the whites from the country after gaining political power. Until, the future SA betters the achievement done during apartheid, that argument is debatable. |
Organs:Lol. After your lengthy lecture aimed at mocking IPOB, it still will not stop our march towards the support and emancipation of our people. You can worship terrorists from the Sahel; you can ascribe honour to them so as to denigrate us but we aren't in any way concerned. I just want you to get this into your head. We are too big to be held down forever by goons of your calibre. Day by day we march towards freedom from the shithole. We gather our people and join ranks connecting the dots. When the critical mass has been amassed, then you will feel the heat. Failure to realize this from your angle will be to your utter regret. Allen Onyema didn't steal from you neither has it been proven that he robbed anyone. He was accused of money laundering of which the court is yet to decide on the matter but simply because he's Igbo, you guys already proclaimed him criminal. Despite his philanthropic gesture on a national scale few months back, your sense of gratitude eroded you because of his origin. We will stand by him until the case is proven beyond reasonable doubt. Watch and see how it pans out. |
KLEINBASS:Lekker bru. Careful with the internet man. |
KLEINBASS:Wow. This is strong. |
KLEINBASS: |
JaceBlaze:This is the biggest lie you said here. SA having a bigger middle class than Nigeria? |
IronGalaxy:Can't be so sure with this. Apartheid was indeed evil but whether it held the country back is debatable. The present situation of SA is a yardstick to use while discussing it. |
KLEINBASS:Lol. But you got his message right? |
JaceBlaze:You should try it some day. You surely will enjoy it. I took my SA friend to Nigerian restaurants couple of times to try it. He always asked we go for more. I also did enjoy 'ujeqe' with cow intestine soup. |
usermane:You're sound so patronising of the black SAns. Fact is that majority of whatever development of their country was the built by the white SAns. I know majority of the black SAns hate to admit it but that is what it is. As at today, most government owned companies are in debt that they can't escape from. This won't have been so if the whites were still in government. The foundation the whites built over there is what is still sustaining the country. How long can that foundation last before their gross failure become visible for all to see? I really don't like to shame fellow Africans but then, some of these our SA brothers can be quite insulting. The recent economic woes of the country started when the ignorant new president started the 'land reclamation without compensation' mantra. The whites just sealed off some taps and the economy convulsed. SAns should be careful how they go about head-butting other Africans. It will hurt them so badly in the future. |
JaceBlaze:It's like you like Egusi soup so much. |
KLEINBASS:That's what I'm saying. Your society turned majority of them to what they're today. Most of those Nigerians never had it in mind to go commit crime in SA but the moment they sense crime is not viewed in such a bad light and there's much money to be made from it, they simply latch on it. They're smart enough to see such loopholes. After all said and done, the hospitable part of those Nigerians still ooze from them as your women can attest. Majority of your men don't feel this because you abuse little of the opportunities they give you. One can hardly work with an average SA male for six months without suffering some pilferation. Lol. They have quick fingers. |
Yebosola:If Igbos hate Yorubas, they would have dealt with them. Igbos certainly don't hate Yorubas; we simply are disgusted with how double faced you guys can be. As for Biafra happening in my time, it surely will. I've bookmarked the page. See how hatred for a people who seek not an inch of your land or property is eating you up. I've never seen a wicked people as majority of your people. Tufiakwa! Everyday, all that bothers you is that Igbos must not be associated with anything good. You attack them; lie against them and continue to seek their downfall. All these to what end. You guys demonized Igbos when you solely controlled the Nigerian media but today, we have busted lots and are still busting them. If it requires setting chaos on the evil contraption to free our people, we will do. I'm 100% Sure that not all those ethnic groups that joined your evil army will still join you again. When one sees you boasting, one will think you speaking solely of your ethnic group alone stopping Igbos. What's our population today? What's our distribution world wide today? Men like you are jokers if you think you can hold us down forever. I pity you. |
Tick-tock says the clock. Doom is our destination as gloom looms. Electric vehicles are certainly the future as mankind tries to undo the damage he did to the environment. Lazy countries will be swallowed up as they won't be tolerated if they fail to gear up to the new technology of cleaner environment. Oil will certainly not be useless but it won't command the power it wields today. Weep not for Nigeria because her existence was solely for oil. With the death of oil driven economy comes her death too. Rather, weep for yourselves; those who can't be productive enough to fit into the new world. It is coming and you can't stop it. Tell your president to stop looking for oil in the north. He should rather focus on the solid minerals there. They've more prospects than any oil to be discovered there. |
Yebosola:Coming from someone who wants you to think he loves Igbos. If not that I've studied the history of the Jews and saw that a people could be hated for no tangible reason, I would have believed my people are at fault from the barrage of hatred they get from their supposed compatriot. Our freedom from the evil contraption will come some day and I assure you that all the riffraffs that consistently spew hatred towards us will be paid in kind. |
Lol. The day SAns succeed in chasing away other African immigrants, that day there foolishness will appear clearly before them. Lots of Nigerians in SA are into shady deals because SA as a country thrives in shady deals. Crime is not something abominable there. In fact, it is nearly celebrated there. Their grouse with Nigerians is simply that they're loud and mostly show off. Remove this from Nigerians and the prejudice/hatred/jealousy etc will reduce. I don't know if it's the apartheid history or their diversity there that affected their hospitality. They're mostly not hospitable to foreigners. |
MetaPhysical:Lol. He can be any other ethnic group but Igbo despite all he described in his book. He even called 'Eboe' many times but guys like you will still never want to associate any good with Igbo. He mentioned 'embrenche' and described it which closely resembles 'mgburuchi' in Igbo with proofs that are found in Igboland yet haters like you will still never accept. Do Edos and Urhobos practice scarification? Hatred is your problem. |
MetaPhysical:Do you have any record or proof that Olaudah Equiano is not an Igbo man? |
joeyfire:This is exactly my position. The orders(request) MIGHT have been made by Gowon and Ojukwu effected it despite not recognizing the superiority of Gowon as at that time because of what both sides could gain from it. Ojukwu's opposition to Gowon as a head of state was even stronger as at the time in question because it had not been publicly declared that Ironsi has been killed. Whatever the case is, the East had no Ill feeling for Awolowo whatsoever but he turned around to show them his true colour. He might be a hero to his people but to us, he was a symbol of great betrayal. Whatever happened between him and Azikiwe were on personal level but his treatment of Igbos after regaining his freedom confirmed his personality. It's sad that two among the best of all black ethnic groups may never walk together because of him. |
MetaPhysical:Which yeye nation are you talking about? Is it the poverty capital of the world or the useless shithole of a contraption? Biafra will always remain because of people like you. He who brings home a termite infested wood is inviting the lizards to feast in his home. Continue to stew in your hate. The evil powers running the zoo are left with one option; either you give everyone a sense of belonging or the contraption dies from internal wranglings. As for you who rejoice specifically in the oppression of Ndigbo, you will die off soon like those before that rejoiced like you. Ndigbo will match on and enjoy the freedom they so cherish. Take your sermon to your people, they need it most. When you talk about SW, anyone who haven't lived there will think it's a place to be proud of. I've visited most of the states therein and lived for years in two of them. I don't want to speak of the decay there. Just shut up and keep off Igbo matters. You can hate us, it doesn't go beyond that. |
