Samunique:Sorry friend. In today's world evil overcomes good. This is land grab and its target is the whole of Nigeria not just the middle belt. @topic RIP to the dead. I feel the pain of the Tivs |
cntabs:Nwanne Ojukwu never caused anything. He tried his best at Aburi to diplomatically secure the lives and properties of the easterners who as at then were being killed like chickens in virtually all other parts of Nigeria with the government of the day watching with indifference. If your life and that of your loved ones have been in mortal danger I believe you will understand Ojukwu better. Have you asked yourself why many Nigerians hate you for simply being Igbo even though you weren't born by the time of the ill fated war? To imagine that people will be rejoicing to bring out pictures of harmless women and children who were starved to death by their government tells a lot don't you think so. For your information Igbos are not the ones gaining the highest from this empire called Nigeria. Take a look at the SE and tell me if the FG has not marked the region out as game reserve. If their intentions at keeping Nigerian one is noble why don't they teach that part of our history in schools to clear any animosity? Why overlook it? I understand your point but ask yourself if what our people are getting from other parts of Nigeria is from the government hand outs given to them. We work extra hard brother. They want you to believe they're doing you a favour by allowing you thrive. No its not a favour. You are meant to be a citizen with equal right and privilege. When you're able to identify that what others see as a right you see as a privilege then you will understand that you're not seen as a free citizen of your supposed country. Think deeply brother and the facade will be clear. I'm not for division but if my rights and privileges are denied me I'll fight for it or quit the association. Don't be quick to blame Ojukwu. Yes he made some mistakes in the cause of the war but his intents were noble and I revere him for that. He had all the wealth that can last him a life time if he was to abandon our people but he chose to overlook personal comfort for that of all. He is a hero. Azikiwe didn't really do much for us in the eastern region when he had powers to do things. Who could hand over their destiny in his hands during the precarious events? |
You can continue taunting the Igbos but mark this one day you will regret all these. Europeans learnt their lesson after the second world war as 55million laid dead. Igbos are in tens of millions and are very resourceful. Keep denigrating them and get what you want. Some of us don't talk but are just patient observing what so called compatriots throw at us with such venom. One thing I've learnt from Nigerians is that in war all is justified. I've put it to heart. |
sweetgala:Pls break down the areas that make up this 2/3 population you guys have been mentioning. Btw, those names Onimisi and Abok in the list are Ebira and Izere(Plateau) respectively. |
buygala:This exactly was my thought. That guy was a maga and the girl got him. Which wise man seeking for a life partner will take a woman you're yet to confirm to an expensive shopping mall? Dupe got what she wanted simple which is a rare opportunity to own such costly hand bag that she can use to brag among her friends. Sharp girl. |
I'll give a better picture of what is happening in the north especially the Christian dominated areas and the constant fulani harassment when I'm less busy. Its the politics of power with a view of a future geography in mind. |
EzioAuditore:Why not state granted grazing reserves in your regions like its been done in developed countries and in other regions they buy or lease lands and carry out their businesses like other business men all over Nigeria? |
EzioAuditore: |
I will be the happiest of all if Buhari's government can bring a lot of growth and development of Nigeria in entirety but my instincts tell me he would be worse than Yar'adua. Any reasonable govt will concentrate on power and infrastructures. Then the mining of solid minerals from the north will create lots of jobs. Big companies will come in to create additional jobs from the opportunities that will areas from that sector. I bet you Buhari will not see this. Why the obsession with oil when agriculture can take in more unskilled labour than every other sector which the north has in abundance? This cold war between the north and south will take us no where. This is my sole position every other option is when sentiment sets in. |
EzioAuditore:Your opinion is good but not feasible given that sentiments will prevail over national interest. This is what I mean by your people sanctioning their actions. The communities around those boundary areas know an immigrant fulani from the local one. The call for grazing route all around Nigeria for immigrants is very generous of her proponents don't you think so? Lands would be forcefully appropriated from citizens and given to immigrants to carry out their personal businesses. This most be a joke. I hope other people of Nigeria are reading. Modified. |

EzioAuditore:There's no need denying your origin. Your name gave you away. Even your previous post laid it bare. I for one go with progressives and frown strongly against supremacists. The energy wasted on the altar of such barbaric phenomenon is not worth it. The Europeans tried such a route which climaxed at the death of about 55million people by the end of the second world war. We ought to learn from them. While I sue for peace and cooperation for mutual benefit I do not hide my disdain for oppressors. My question remains: why is the herdsmen brutality on farmers in Nigeria most common among other west African states? |
EzioAuditore:How comes then that your legislators where busy pushing for the creation of grazing routes all over Nigeria as if those cattles belong to the Federal govt? |
EzioAuditore:How I wish they all think like you. You can really brag typical of a Fulani. Just thank your stars for the Yorubas if not you would have been gnashing your teeth now. If only the scales blinding them would fall off you will then understand how unimportant you are. |
acenazt:You've met your match. Let's see how it pans out in a couple of years. |
EzioAuditore:That's the more reason why I tell those who are willing to hear that when ever any of such herdsmen tamper with their farms they should wipe them off. You guys think you're wise. What gives them the courage to attack the people of Nigeria only leaving other African countries if not because you sanction their actions? Why is the destruction of villages and villagers by these herdsmen most common in Nigeria? |
I'm in to this discourse. This has always being my dream. If we come together we can achieve much and give our children a homeland to be proud of. Though proud to be Igbo I'm not an ethnic supremacist. Barcanista and Truckpusher take note. |
nkpommpko:It is not a contest between the two countries hence my comments. Peace is what we want. Right now a peaceful march is ongoing by thousands of people both SAns and foreigners to condemn the trend. |
osystein:No one can be certain for now until the dust is settled. Majority of Nigerians don't live in the villages and townships owning to the previous xenophobic episode few years back. The bad deeds of many Nigerians here have really soiled our names I must admit and they won't be exempted if those miscreants find any of them outside their stronghold. |
illiad:To a certain degree you are correct. Zulus have lots of good people too just like the Hausa/fulanis. I only wonder what the Zulus could have been if they were muslims. Hmmm scary. |
Oba234:Do you have an idea of how many foreigners we have in Nigeria? I can tell you we don't have less than 6million. If you're from southern Nigeria and have always reside there you may not know what I'm talking about. What's your estimate of foreigners in Lagos alone? |
Donmichaelz:Wrong bro. SAns are good looking people especially the females with a trouble mind. Their history is one strong reason I'm not too quick to blame them. I blame the black government for resting immediately after the political freedom. With the end to apartheid they thought it was time for enjoyment and they forgot that once a target is met and goal is waiting which basically is black empowerment which should be rigorous. Today with a large illiterate or under-educated populace couple with a large number of lazy black workforce they are threatened by foreigners who are more ambitious. Its a big problem I must admit. |
Ruttashobolwa:Your name sounds South African. Are you one? |
nkpommpko:Friend wisdom profiteth but folly destroys. Not all things are said. Some are better done without making much noise. For your information it wasn't just Nigerians but the entire African foreign nationals who came out together well armed. Two people where injured when the police fired rubber bullets. |
Let me come in here. Is it right to call SA a xenophobic country? Hmmm Yes. However there are lots of good south Africans which I have net and can vouch for. Although they are in the minority. The fact that you're fortunate to be in a secure job and residential environment does not change the fact. I blame this trend of xenophobia to lack of exposure. Majority of south Africans are poor in geography and as such do not understand the African continent. Many have not travelled out of SA so they do not understand what living outside shores mean. Many I did interact with are even scared of venturing outside owning to the way their people treat foreigners. Oh yes SA offers free education and medical treatment to foreigners of which I give the government a lot of credit. Foreigners still contribute largely to the economy of the country. The average SA citizen is lazy and wants to depend on government hand outs and as such no private business owner can tolerate such work force hence the preference of hardworking foreigners. I'll agree with the OP that majority of those carrying these attacks are the street urchins but they enjoy the support of in my estimate a large black SA population. If you have seen any of the recent gory photos of the killings in SA you can see a Policeman laughing just behind a burning man. Search for the pictures they are here on nairaland. My aim is not to paint south Africans in a bad light but to set the records straight. Any one found justifying the killings of innocent people based on a general notion of foreigners taking the jobs of locals is an accomplice. This is my submission. |
Pls be careful with what you post on net. Your insinuations could worsen the already fragile situation. Modes pls do the needful. |
We are watching. Its barely three weeks to the D-day. May God help us all. |
WhiteTechnology:The fear of a Biafra is Nigeria's albatross. |
Mynd44:You are a hypocrite. Learn to say the truth always. No matter how some muslim governments and organizations wish to help boko haram against the people of Nigeria, victory reside with us. We are watching. |
There's nothing Gej can do about this. Fellow soldiers in the NA have been sabotaging the effort of their comrades due to divided allegiance and you think Gej can do anything. What many of you can never understand is that only few southerners can govern Nigeria and be to handle the north the way befitting them. The muslims of the north can do practically anything to get what they want. The north is also large and at such, would gulp lots of money to fight a war of attrition. This is what the british avoided by not involving themselves in the traditional politics of the region having defeated them militarily. An economic arrangement of indirect rule was agreed upon which was what the british were after and it fine. It is understandable given that the british were themselves usurpers and only after economic reasons. But for us, this is our land, our freedom and our destiny. Whatsoever be the price, we will pay to kiss goodbye this evil arrangement in the present Nigeria. What you see in those pictures is nothing compared to what is coming next year. The same man a terrorist group called upon to be their attorney is the same man some of you are canvassing for to be your leader! Ok let's say he finally wins and those terrorists sheathe their swords, you will count it as an achievement for him and if eventually, another southerner emerges that these same people are uncomfortable with, does it mean we will have to go through the same circle again? It is quite pathetic to see how blind some southerners can be. Any way, it has been proven that the worst form of blindness is not the one borne out of ignorance but that birthed by prejudice. Expect an escalation in the frequency of bomb blast as Feb. 2015 approaches. Go on blaming GEJ but know ye that the days of intimidation and oppression are over. No price is too small. We are watching. |
wirinet:Ijaws cannot attempt that because they know that it is a commonwealth... What you see is for a greater assignment. Enough of the oppression... 2015 is a memorable year, I can assure you that. |
Nihilist:Hahahahaha... Its like you do enjoy the songs just like I do even when I don't understand a thing there. What a funny world. |
