Not even Buhari expects everyone to like him. So I wonder why some of Buhari's supporters to. Personally, I do not like Buhari. I still wish his administration well for the sake of the suffering millions he presides over although I think he is most likely going to be a disasterous leader. I don't like Buhari for the following reasons: 1) Buhari's devastating 5%/97% statement exposed him as someone unsuitable to be president of Nigeria. The fact he did not retract this statement is disgraceful. 2) Buhari has stoked the embers of militancy, secession and unrest by his actions. His clearly biased appointments, his northernisation of Government, his confrontational attitude, his highandedness, his use of military force in many cases where he should used dialogue, his disregard for the rule of law have all contributed to this. He has become more divisive than GEJ ever was. 3) I was one of those who wanted the confab report implemented. I want true federalism. So it is highly annoying for me to know that the coming Buhari has consigned true federalism to the dust bin 4) Buhari has left Nigerian economy much worse than he met it. The common man has seen inflation go through the roof, life has become much harder, the Naira is in free fall. Everyone is suffering. |
Pesuzok:Look, why don't you stop this 'River' and 'Delta' thing. The states you are referering to are just creations of past Militsry leaders. The various ethnic groups who fall within those places have names. And nobody is fighting anybody for anything. This not the Nigeria where some people scream "we must be one at all cost!". Those who are not interested are very free to opt out. The days fighting anyone for their lands are long gone. |
Pesuzok:Biafra does not recognise states, it recognises tribes. When Lord Lugard came to a West Africa, he did not meet any state, he met tribes. |
okeyfineboy:And all have Igbo surnames too. The council chairman of ONELGA is 'Umejuru'. The head of of the Militants is 'wanny' which we all know is the corrupted form of 'Nwa-Ani' meaning son of the soil. Many Rivers Igbo don't write their surnames in the conventional Igbo way but in a more anglicised way. 'Wike', wabara, wanjoku, Okwanny are all anglicised versions of the Igbo names 'Nwa-Ike", "Nwa-Agbara", "Nwa-Njoku" and "Okwu-Ani". It doesn't matter anyway, they all sound the same. |
Pesuzok:Sorry bro but the issue of Biafra is not about states. It is not about the illegal SE/SS that doesn't exist in law. It is all about tribes |
Almajiri1:' South-South'is part of the divide and rule strategy. Rivers state is made up of almost 70% indigenous Igbo speaking people, infact, more than half of Rivers state used to be in the old Imo province. |
isaacputi:You should be asking why they are disturbing the peace, all is not well in the land |
doublewisdom:Because they are Igbos. |
Almajiri1:They are what some of you call "Rivers Igbo". The speak Igbo, have Igbo culture but just happened to be in Rivers state. |
hemartins:If Buhari was moving Nigeria in the right direction, you would not be in the "hoping" stage by now. |
americanigga:Personally, I don't even see the point of the post of president of Nigeria. Nigeria has not moved foward since the end of the war. Those that have held the office of president are even in a worse or same situation as those who have hardly held it. Everwhere is a mess. The office of president of Nigeria is a useless office that helps nobody |
americanigga:Outcast in their own country? You really think if majority of Igbos had a choice, they would want Nigeria to be their own country? Most Igbos no longer feel like they have any vested interest in Nigeria, so they don't really care if they are regarded as outcasts or not |
GEJ did not lose because of the name Azikiwe. He lost because the opposition parties managed to come together under the APC banner. In previous elections, the opposition never could come together to form a mega party. Simply put, much of the North and Southwest were not happy with GEJ. I'm still glad that I never voted for Buhari and APC. GEJ and PDP may not have been the best but APC is much worse |
Ikwerreboy:The problem you have is that you are looking at Nigeria from the so called SE/SS/SS which are just geo-political zones. But from a geographical point of view, the so called SE/SS is actually "South Eastern Nigeria". |
If there is another war, it will be the end of Nigeria because no one, not even the international community will be convinced about 'one Nigeria'. In other civilised countries, when there warring factions, a sovereign national conference will be held. But the North does not want it because it won't favour them like the current system does. Nigeria is indeed a mess. |
fiizznation:Easterners? Who are 'Easterners'? |
ImperialYoruba:How did you expect Ojukwu to leave his domain and go to Bini or Lagos? You are only guaranteed safety and protection in your own house, not another man's house. When we talk about the civil War, we should always remember that Ojukwu went to Aburi to prevent war. But the truth is that the inordinate ambition of the North to control Nigeria is what caused the war. The same problem plagues Nigeria to this very day. The true federalism that Ojukwu got in Aburi which they later rejected is what causing voices dissent all across Nigeria that manifests today in MASSOB, IPOB, Niger Delta Avengers, MEND, MOSSOP etc. The Ghost of Aburi haunts Nigeria 50 years on and the country is not likely to know peace unless that accord is revisited and implemented. |
iluvnaija234:In that case, he is a goner. But how can Uche Ogar be sworn in when he never stood for elections? It should be Alex Otti who should be there having polled second in the elections |
Orji Uzo Kalu has endured over the years. I remember finding an magazine that was dated 1985 captioned "Nigerias richest millonaires under 30" . Dangote, Mike Adenuga and Orji Uzo Kalu were featured in it. |
When I remember how PDP snatched victory from Alex Otti........... |
MirabelArode:Yaradua didn't stay long in power and even as at that, he was hardly visible. Yaradua also wasn't a confrontational president. I don't think he ever said anything about crushing anyone, infact, his short reign saw peace and stabilisation in the Niger Delta. Buhari never any good history with Igbos and to make matters worse, he came in and showed his hand a person hates Igbos. Under Buhari, militancy has returned to the Niger Delta and the shout for Biafra has gotten louder. It all goes to show that Buhari isn't much of a leader. |
Dragonking:So Igbo youths visiting a former Vice President is now a form of begging? |
mrkayusfit:Why? So you can carry on with the 'Lord Lugard created fraud' called Nigeria? |
I will never know how someone can be calling someone 'Delta Igbo' and still be asking if they are Igbo. I'm an Anambra man, if you call me 'Anambra Igbo', Im still Igbo? No doubt that the Western Igbos, sometimes refered to as Delta Igbos or Anioma have had a lot of influences from neigbouring tribes such Bini and the rest. That sort of thing can create an identity crises. It was made worse when many, during and after the civil war, had to deny being Igbo due to repercussions. Creation of states did not help either. But someone who is reasonable can try to identify who they are by the language they speak, their surname and where their ancestral land is. And if they can't, God help them |
blazetitov:So you never heard of MASSOB before GEJ even came to power. The agitation has always been there, the only difference is that Buhari made it worse |
ephi123:Of course they are in jail! They were free people before Lord Lugard forced everybody into one Nigeria. Now they can't get out of it, so they in jail. If a people say they do not want to be Nigerians, nobody should force them to be one. |
Seun, no country on Earth is sacrosanct. There is no such thing as "unity forever". We all became 'Nigerians' not of our own will but by the will of Lord Lugard and the British. If people cannot talk about how they came together, the terms of being together and terms of separation then these are people in bondage. As an Igbo man, I value my freedom. I can never support anyone being in bondage. In 2014, the same Britain that made us Nigerians were prepared to break up when it offered Scotland a referendum. There was a robust conversation about secession. If our own colonial masters could proudly talk about secession, then who are we as Nigerians to say we can't? After all, we are their creation. How can we be saying that we hope to one day become like Britain but we do the polar opposite of what they do? Scotland was part of Britain for 300 years but could still talk about secession and got a referendum, but it is Nigeria that just a little over hundred years old that people cannot talk about secession? Why? Stifling the voice of the secessionist is not the way to promote national unity, if anything, it makes it worse because there is no such thing as "unity by force" |
I want Bianca to run for Enugu state Governor in 2019.......... If there is anything like Nigeria by then |
I wonder when his next court date is? I want to go and hail that man |
jneutron4000:Biafra had little or nothing to do with politics. It had much more to do with securing the lives and the sovereignty of Easterners. At the Aburi meeting, Ojukwu had already pledged to recognise Gowon as head of state so long as Gowon kept to the Aburi agreement. Naturally, the North could not keep the agreement because of their lust for power. When Gowon broke the agreement, there was only two alternatives: Accept Northern slavery or fight for freedom. Everyone else accepted Northern slavery except Ojukwu. In the South of Nigeria today, even in some parts of the middle belt, you hear people shouting 'true federalism!' Yet it was this same true federalism that Ojukwu was fighting for. The same people who want true federalism are the same who ganged up to fight Ojukwu to help the north take away true federalism. |
jneutron4000:Ojukwu would not have been interested in ruling Yoruba land. You Forget that before the Biafran Army got to Ore, they had already overrun the mid west. What Ojukwu did was to declare them 'Repulic of the Mid-West' and appointed one of them as President. If Ojukwu had entered Yoruba land, he probably would have declared "Oduduwa Republic" and appointed an anti-North Yoruba as president. But knowing Yorubas, they would have rejected this for 'one Nigeria' |
jneutron4000:Who is Ojukwo? I have never heard of him. How is such person connected to Biafra |
