Genius100:
I'm convinced most of those shouting Biafra are low IQ clowns. If the Biafra you want consist of Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Imo and Ebonyi, be rest assured that war will not needed for these states to secede. If a referendum was held, majority of Nigerians will actually vote for a Biafra that consist of these 5 states to secede. I'm 100% sure even a nairaland poll will indicate Nigerians support a Biafra consisting of these 5 states secede.

Now if you want to extend Biafra to include the oil producing states i.e. Rivers, Delta, Akwa Ibom and Cross River, you are on a long thing. The non-igbo residents of those states will never agree to Biafra talkless of the rest of Nigerians. I really fail to understand what the chest beating is about. The Igbo states have been exclusively ruled by Igbos since 1999, and they are no better than the rest of Nigeria. Infact Abia was probably the worst governed state in Nigeria under Ochedo, so what is the chest beating about. You clowns better find something useful to do with your time.
Let me ask you something, who created those 5 states? An illegitimate military regime? Igbo land and Igbos extends beyond those 5 states. Asaba people,Ibuzors,Ogwashis and Isele-Ukwu will tell you they are 100% Igbos but find themselves in Delta state. Who speaks for those people who say they are Igbo but find themselves in other outside the south-east? Such Igbos are in Kogi,Delta,Rivers and Akwaibom. So stop limiting Igbos to 5 states fraudulently created by military men who like the fraudster called Frederick Lugard who created the fraud known as Nigeria, never bothered to ask the people where they want to belong.
Politics › Re: Pls Someone Should Remind Me The Main Motive Behind Biafra Again. by zendy: 11:21am On Jun 20, 2015
Biafra is about the right to be free, the right to choose if I am Nigerian or not, the right to be heard. I do not need Fredrick Lugard to come from Britain to give me my country or tell me that a Yoruba or Hausa man is my brother. It about repudiating the monumental fraud called Nigeria. Biafra is about freedom and sovereignty

I feel a deep sense of grief and bewilderment when I read a lot of misguided comments from my Igbo brothers with some calling for a violent secession from Nigeria. Most of the generation of people making these statement never witnessed the civil war. They did not see first hand the horrors of war. They did not experience the terrific impact of bombs or the loud ear splitting sounds of heavy artillery shells as the explode. Should I talk about the economic impact? How our people were reduced to paupers and had to start from the scratch. How beautiful daughters were forcefully torn from the warm embrace of their families and married off to leprous men in the North just to spite our people. Only a mentally deranged and prone to self destruction individual will ever in his life support a violent secession from Nigeria.

Our problem is not secession. Our problem is learning how to live with other tribes in harmony while doing our businesses. Our focus should be on how to build consensus across the nation for vital political interests.

I laugh heartliy when I see some misguided Niger Delta youths like barcanista and co trying to be clever by half by playing to our sense of entitlement. Speaking from both sides of the mouth about how our people are being pushed aside and marginalized.
Yet these are the same people that effectively sabotaged the Biafran struggle under Ojukwu. These are the same people that lead the enemy in through our backyards and betrayed their so called brothers. Now they have started a new song because their brother Jonathan who performed woefully was booted out by majority of Nigerians.

I want us to know sometime that is historical. The moment an attempt is made to secede, the I jaws will immediately turn their backs and negotiate us away to advance their interests. So we will end up alone fighting the whole of Nigeria and loosing again.

When the chips are down, we are always alone.

Another point to consider is that Nigeria has become too intergrated to break up. Almost every family has in laws across their tribe. How will that be handled?

Igbo are the most integrated people in Nigeria with business interests across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. Most of our people will become jobless or stay and be killed the moment a secession is declared.

Those who knew the truth will tell you that even inside Biafra there were still serious cases of tribalism and nepotism, even under the revered Ojukwu. That was why ahiara declaration became necessary to tackle these issues.

Finally, we are not ready militarily and would only be engaging in another massive waste of life if we insist on our ways.
So my people do not be deceived! Our best and only bet is to remain as law abiding citizens of Nigeria while doing our best to continue to be relevant in the scheme of things.
Ka Chineke mezie okwu.

Your entire write-up is a construct of a myopic slave. Nigeria is a fraud created by the British in their bid to exploit the west Africans. They brought together tribes who should have never been together in the first place. Nigeria has no legitimacy. Nigeria represents the enslavement of the Igbo people and certain minorities in the south-south. There is no such thing as one Nigera. Yes, the present generation probably doesn't know about the effects of war or even ever heard the sound of shelling. This is not an excuse to remain a slave. You have used the history of atrocities committed against Igbos as a reason why Igbos should abandon their God given right to self determination and freedom. If you were not a coward, you have known that those same reasons is why you should advocate for Biafra. The integration you talked about is non existent. Inter-tribal marriage amongst the Igbos and other tribes outside the SS/SE is very very minimal. Probably less than 0.5 % and anyone married to another tribe will still remain a citizen of the future Biafra and their kids will be dual citizens and their spouse will have the right of stay as obtains in other countries. Biafra is about the right to be free, the right to choose if I am Nigerian or not, the right to be heard. I do not need Fredrick Lugard to come from Britain to give me my country or tell me that a Yoruba or Hausa man is my brother. Violent secession is only last resort. Freedom is not cheap. It is purchased in blood. Freedom cost lives. It is highly patronizing of you to come online and tell Igbos to forget their God given right to aspire to their own country just because they will suffer. Are you stupid? You think Igbos are cowards? Or do you think we are the sort that can cowed down? I am an Igbo man and Biafran, I do not subscribe to the British fabrication called Nigeria and Ibadan and Sokoto are not Father land. We shall get our freedom from Nigeria and if it comes to Violent confrontation, I will be there at the front, even if it is with my Grand fathers hunting rifle and I will defend Biafra with my life. Don't come here to showcase your cowardice with this stupid write up just because you have been brainwashed to believe you are a Nigerian. Igbos are not slaves to anybody or the fraud called Nigeria.

These people speak Igbo as their ancestral language, they have Igbo surnames but they are not Igbo? What exactly makes a person Igbo? Anyone saying that they only started speaking Igbo because of hundreds of years of interaction is talking rubbish. Did the Igbos also force those people to adopt Igbo surnames?

I'm sure if ask well, they will tell you that you can kill any type of snake but never a python. The penalty for killing a Python in Igboland is to bury it as you would your own father with full funeral rites. But it is possible that there maybe some parts of Igboland that no longer observe this tradition due to Christianity.

It is a sacrilege to kill a Python in Igbo land. I remember driving to the village one day and came across a huge Python trying to cross the road. It must have been close to 15 feet long. I could have easily run my car over it and continued my journey. Instead, I had to wait over 10 minutes to let it get across the road.

Sparkles003:
All the points you said are all good points but it takes both parties knowing wat they truly want and being honest to each other to make a relationship or marriage work.
I ask for permission to correct your statement "that marriage can be a curse"if at your single state you already view marriage as a curse sorry to say this expect it to be that " curse" when you marry.
I am of the school of thought that believe that what you expect in a relationship or marriage is what you will accept.
For example:if you expect that all women cheat, when your woman cheats on you it won't be new to you cos you have already made provision for it by accepting that all women cheat.
So it is with marriage,if you already viewed it as a curse,it means you have made provision for it in your marriage such that when it happens you won't not bother to make it work rather you accept it and look outside.
If truly you are with someone that wants to be with you that marriage should be a blessing whether thru negative or positive times.
don't mind the epistle
If you read what I wrote, I said that marriage "can" be a curse. I never said that I already have the mindset that it will be a curse. There are quite a few people out there enjoying their marriage. I also said that Marriage is a "joint" effort to make it work.

Below is a bridge in ancient Japan.
If anyone is ashamed about what our ancestors had to endure in the hands the White man, why are you proud to be a Nigerian? The same product of servitude to the White man. You see them yapping all the time " I am a proud Nigerian!" What are you proud of? Why do you need a white man to come from Britain to give you your country? Why are we still answering a slave name the White man gave us? What happend to self determination and right of choice?

Anyone who is a 'proud Nigerian' had better take a good look at the picture above because the reality is that you're no better than those men carrying the White woman. Infact, now, it's no longer a white woman you are carrying, it's an Hausa man.

This is a source of concern. I write for a few friends of mine - hardworking and nice guys (30+ years) working in various reputable firms in Nigeria. But 3, 4, 5 years after, they are still searching for the lady of their heart desires. I also notice the trend everywhere I go.

Just as we complain about the growing number of unmarried ladies, I'm also worried abt the growing number of unmarried, comfortable men who are over 30 years.

A case in study is a popular friend of mine who has been working in the oil sector for more than 5 years. He clocks 33 this year. He still remains unmarried. He says he is still searching. I can count more than 10 of my friends - comfortable, hale and healthy, gainfully employed but single after working for more than 5 years..What can be the cause?
Are ladies getting scarce, or is it that there are few "wife materials" in town now? or are they simply afraid of making commitment? huh

I fall into that category. I won't say I'm rich but I'm comfortable and I own the house I live in and I'm 30+. When you get to that stage in life, you will think seriously about settling down but unfortunately, wife material is hard to come by. I don't want to get married just for the sake of getting married because marriage can be a curse. I know many guys my age who are married but feel like they are in a nightmare which they don't know when they will wake up from. Women can be strange creatures. Some of them are good at hiding their true nature until they are married. By then, it's too late for the man. Many Nigerian women treat marriage like winning a jackpot. After saying 'I do', they regard the mans role as being their own personal "genie" who is there to grant their wishes while all they have to do is pop out kids. There are actually very few women who realise that marriage is joint effort and any problem that comes along, they just blame it on the man. All I can say is that while they say that "Husband is scarce", I say that "Wife material" is even more scarce. Rather than being with a "Dragon tailed Witch" , I would rather stay stay single or just get myself a Baby mama.

I am just amazed that this same people say Rochas betrayed Ojukwu and Apga by decamping to the APC yet Obi jumped into PDP and they are calling him a hero.

Hypocrites!!!
Both are not the same thing. Obi decamped after he left office. Unlike the backstabber and traitor called Okorocha, Obi did not take his APGA mandate to another party. While Obi can be forgiven, Okorocha is just a straight up saboteur.

I read with utter disgust the way Anambra people deride Rochas., wetin the guy do una sef? As far as the south East is concerned Rochas Okorocha is the most prominent politician. He has won two elections with lesser parties proving that he indeed is a sellable candidate. He is the only Governor from APC in South East. He saw the handwriting on the wall and as a sharp guy tried to move apga into the APC but Obi had other plans. The Anambra people still out of their utter frustration and myopia voted Ngige (obvious Senate president) out.
Who is that politician in Anambra state who can pick the APC ticket if you insist Rochas must no go?
Igbos rejected APC because it is not a party we believe in. Everything is not about always being in power, sometimes it is about following your convictions wether good or bad. APC is a just a "one Man Okorocha show" in the south-East and already, early indications point to the fact APC is no better than PDP and its gap toothed "cattle rearer" has nothing to offer. I don't see APC surviving the 2019 elections, that's of course if Nigeria hasn't disintegrated by then.

God forbid. kapish / We are trouble makers, its alright... At least its better than being seen as ritualists, tribalists and people who eat humans.
I work with whose mother is from Kwale. He has told me that there are Igbo speaking parts of Kwale and Urhobos and so on. We are only interested in the Igbo speaking parts which people generally refer to as the 'Delta-Igbos'. Wether that term is recognised or not in Delta state is not important. In the old Bendel state, they were called 'Bendelite-Igbos'. Generally, I believe that Biafra will be formed by way of referendum. The last thing the Igbos want is for anybody to say that they were forced into Biafra same way Igbos were forced into Nigeria. When the referendum comes, those in the Delta who don't support Biafra should vote to stay in Nigeria while those who want to go with Igbos are welcome. The aguement here is that everyone must be giving a voice and they must heard. If Kwale or any part of Delta-Igbo votes to stay in Nigeria, we will wish the best of luck. So you have nothing to worry about.

You and Okorocha are dreamers. Outside Imo, Okorocha commands nobodys respect. He is generally seen as a traitor by his people. Some people don't seem to realise that APC is less of a national party than PDP was. Okorocha barely survived the rejection of APC by the SE/SS people. Another thing about APC is that the northern support which brought it to power was largely because of Buhari. Take away Buhari and APC is dead. APC is largely a northern/Yoruba thing, how does anyone think that they will give an Igbo man their presidential ticket? Even if Rochas miraculously gets the presidential ticket, where will he get the votes to win? Is it his people who generally regard him as an outcast that will vote him? My people in Anambra hate him with a passion for trying to bring APC into our state after riding to power on the name of the great Ikemba and APGA. Is it the Yorubas and their distrust of the Igbos that will vote him? Or is it the northerners and their 'born to rule' mentality that will vote him? I have more chances of visiting the moon than Rochas ever being president of Nigeria.

Anyone telling the Igbos to stay in Nigeria is a fraudster because the Nigerian project is just one big British inspired fraud. One thing is for sure, merging the northern region with the southern part has to be among the most unforgivable act ever committed by the British.
What platform did Lugard build before that "British thief" created Nigeria? Who gave him the right to bring Hausa,Yoruba and Igbos together to create this fraud of a nation called Nigeria? Ojukwu saw what many people 50 years on, could not see, that Nigeria was a nest of deciet and iniquity. Igbos are an egalitarian and republican people. We must secede from the British fabrication called Nigeria! We must seek our destiny in Biafra! We must leave Lagos and return home to build our land. The Yorubas like to prance around and say Lagos is "theirs" while conveniently forgetting that Lagos was built with Tax accruing all over Nigeria for over 100 years as the colonial capital. If the British had never moved the Capital of Nigeria from Calabar to Lagos, this same Lagos probably would have been just a "coastal village" by now. The Igbo nation must exercise its right to self determination and free choice. We must secede as Biafra!!!!!
